:00:00. > :00:00.Yard's handling of the case. That's all from the BBC News at Six, so

:00:00. > :00:11.Welcome to Thursday's BBC Channel it's

:00:12. > :00:17.Welcome to Thursday's BBC Channel Islands News. The top storids. Young

:00:18. > :00:23.people in Guernsey are turnhng to alcohol because there's nothing to

:00:24. > :00:27.do ` according to a new report. We are getting the information that we

:00:28. > :00:34.need to, out to young peopld, about misusing alcohol. Also, the sex

:00:35. > :00:39.education booklet being set home to children as young as four. H think

:00:40. > :00:47.that the teacher should havd handed it to the parents, not to the

:00:48. > :00:51.children themselves. And how your waste goes from this to this ` as

:00:52. > :01:00.Guernsey gets ready for its rubbish revolution. Young people in Guernsey

:01:01. > :01:04.are turning to alcohol becatse there's nothing to do. That's the

:01:05. > :01:07.view of some schoolchildren who have taken part in a survey of more than

:01:08. > :01:10.600 full`time students. The latest results from the Education

:01:11. > :01:12.Department show that many are drinking alcohol regularly `nd a

:01:13. > :01:23.significant number are smokhng cigarettes. Mike Wilkins reports.

:01:24. > :01:26.Happy relaxing with friends, but some young people are consuling

:01:27. > :01:29.alcohol, cigarettes and drugs on a regular basis. When asked, `lmost

:01:30. > :01:32.half of those surveyed said they'd had an alcoholic drink in the past

:01:33. > :01:35.seven days. Almost a quarter of students smoke cigarettes, lany

:01:36. > :01:41.opting for cheap products. @nd more than a quarter had tried cannabis.

:01:42. > :01:46.Some told me today that thex drank alcohol because there was a lack of

:01:47. > :01:55.things to do. I do a lot of sport Verster Lake `` personally, but if

:01:56. > :01:58.there was more for kids to do, the new skate park is excellent for

:01:59. > :02:04.young teenage boys but therd is nothing for the girls. And we want

:02:05. > :02:09.to socialise and sit and ch`t and we can agree do other strains that we

:02:10. > :02:14.can see out of school. The only time that we can do that is at a party.

:02:15. > :02:18.There's nowhere to go apart from in the summer, at the beach. Apart from

:02:19. > :02:25.house parties there was nowhere to go at the winter. It is somdthing we

:02:26. > :02:30.need to address through the drug and alcohol strategy. With tobacco

:02:31. > :02:39.education, I was concerned that we saw a quarter of young people who

:02:40. > :02:42.smoke. It should be noted that there were many positives in the survey

:02:43. > :02:52.but two glaring issues are that cigarettes and alcohol remahn a

:02:53. > :02:54.problem that won't go away. The Guernsey government has a drugs and

:02:55. > :03:00.alcohol strategy. Do these results mean that it is not working? I spoke

:03:01. > :03:02.to the head of the drug and alcohol strategy, Andrea Nightingald, from

:03:03. > :03:07.our Guernsey newsroom a few moments ago. Actually, we were quitd

:03:08. > :03:13.encouraged by some of the post` 6 survey. It showed that cann`bis use

:03:14. > :03:17.is only by 9% of young people, which we feel is extremely encour`ging,

:03:18. > :03:23.and we still know that we h`ve a way to go, but we are getting the

:03:24. > :03:29.information that we need to, out to young people, about misusing

:03:30. > :03:36.alcohol, how it can affect not only their health, but also their

:03:37. > :03:41.families and relationships. The students are telling us that there

:03:42. > :03:46.nothing else to do on island. What are the authorities doing about

:03:47. > :03:49.that? We have lots of activhties that we put on for young people We

:03:50. > :03:57.could be better at doing th`t. We have a new youth commission that is

:03:58. > :04:01.looking at outreach, and extending it to active kids, not only sporting

:04:02. > :04:06.but the arts commission is there, and we have to see whether or not we

:04:07. > :04:18.can embrace young people into activities, to steer them away from

:04:19. > :04:21.the use of drug and alcohol. And staying with issues affecting young

:04:22. > :04:33.people ` What would you say if your four year old came home frol school

:04:34. > :04:35.with this? It's a booklet to help parents explain issues surrounding

:04:36. > :04:40.sex and relationships to thdir children. The pamphlet is produced

:04:41. > :04:43.by a Jersey charity ` and some 10,000 copies have been givdn to

:04:44. > :04:46.primary school and even pre`school children in the island. As xou can

:04:47. > :04:49.imagine, it's created quite a stir, as Emma Chambers reports. These

:04:50. > :04:54.children can also be... Str`ngers who are, other children? Thdy could

:04:55. > :04:57.be adults. Talking to your eight`year`old son about sensitive

:04:58. > :05:01.issues such as staying safe online, puberty and sex can be diffhcult `

:05:02. > :05:04.but not for Ally. She says hts been made easier because of this book

:05:05. > :05:09.called A Parent's Toolkit. Ht advises parents on how to ddal with

:05:10. > :05:14.those awkward questions. I found that my son has opened up a lot more

:05:15. > :05:19.since we had this book. Therefore, if I broach the subject, he would be

:05:20. > :05:23.embarrassed. But when we sat down together, we were both embarrassed,

:05:24. > :05:28.and the book helped us to look at it together. Although it has hdlped

:05:29. > :05:31.many it has also caused upsdt. Not about what's in them but how the

:05:32. > :05:34.books were received by parents. 10,000 copies have been givdn out

:05:35. > :05:38.across Jersey in schools and nurseries. Many of them being handed

:05:39. > :05:43.directly to children as young as four and five ` like Sandra's. With

:05:44. > :05:47.my eldest, I do not mind, bdcause they know so much, but with the

:05:48. > :05:51.youngest I believe the teacher should have, not put it in `n

:05:52. > :05:55.envelope, but handed it to ts as we pick up the children's that we have

:05:56. > :06:04.the option of taking it or not, I find it very disturbing for the full

:06:05. > :06:08.ones. `` for the little ones. It is a shame that it has been given

:06:09. > :06:11.directly to the children but it is I spoke with cartoons in it and

:06:12. > :06:17.everything, so hopefully, it would not have caused too much distress.

:06:18. > :06:21.Obviously it has sparked off some discussions with children and

:06:22. > :06:30.parents. We are very struck `` we are very sorry as some parents have

:06:31. > :06:34.taken offence to it. Acet hopes it will help more parents like Ally and

:06:35. > :06:41.is in talks of supplying thd book to mums and dads in Guernsey too. There

:06:42. > :06:43.are just two candidates vying to be Guernsey's next Chief Minister. At

:06:44. > :06:46.close of nominations this evening, Deputy Allister Langlois and

:06:47. > :06:50.Jonathan Le Tocq were the only two names in the hat. The Electhon will

:06:51. > :06:57.be held at a special States sitting next Wednesday. 32 Jersey f`milies

:06:58. > :07:00.will have to leave their st`tes flats while they are renovated ` and

:07:01. > :07:04.won't be invited to move back when they are finished. The flats at de

:07:05. > :07:07.Quetteville Court will have new windows, doors, double glazhng and

:07:08. > :07:10.insulation. They will also get new kitchens and bathrooms. The current

:07:11. > :07:13.tenants will have to move ott, and the Housing Minister says they'll

:07:14. > :07:16.only be allowed to return in exceptional circumstances. Ht's part

:07:17. > :07:19.of a ?22 million project to improve States housing. About 85% of people

:07:20. > :07:22.who could have voted in last night's St Helier by`elections didn't. Both

:07:23. > :07:26.deputies`elect Nick Le Cornt and Sam Mezec won their seats with just a

:07:27. > :07:31.couple hundred votes. Jen Slith reports on what the dismal turnout

:07:32. > :07:36.means for politics in Jersex. It took all of 30 mins to count. 7 8

:07:37. > :07:43.people out of around 5000 ttrned out to vote in St Helier district number

:07:44. > :07:47.one. While in St Helier number two, turn out was 14%, that's 528 voters.

:07:48. > :07:55.Lawyer Nick Le Cornu was thd first winner to be announced. For the sake

:07:56. > :07:58.of democracy, we have to get out there and get more people voting, to

:07:59. > :08:08.make it have some relevance to their life. In district two, Sam Lezec had

:08:09. > :08:13.a more convincing win. It w`s about fighting forcing Kelly, bec`use we

:08:14. > :08:17.lack that at the moment, and arguing for a new type of politics, one that

:08:18. > :08:31.is more democratic and 23rd century in Outlook `` arguing for St Helier.

:08:32. > :08:34.Jersey's new deputies have ` few things in common. Both were elected

:08:35. > :08:38.on a mandate of political rdform, and both got in with just a couple

:08:39. > :08:42.of hundred votes to their n`me. They'll take up their seats here in

:08:43. > :08:45.their first States sitting hn a couple of weeks time. And they'll

:08:46. > :08:48.have the same powers in the assembly and salary as Jersey's Chief

:08:49. > :08:50.Minister. They have tried to get more equality in terms of how the

:08:51. > :08:54.votes are distributed betwedn constituencies. Both Nick Ld Cornu

:08:55. > :08:58.and Sam Mezec will be keen to prove they can do the job because in

:08:59. > :09:01.October all of Jersey goes to the polls in the island's gener`l

:09:02. > :09:04.election. Turnout then is gdnerally expected to be higher. But last

:09:05. > :09:07.night's result will be a relinder, that how getting islanders through

:09:08. > :09:11.the polling station doors is a politician's biggest task. Xou're

:09:12. > :09:14.watching the BBC in the Channel Islands. Later in Spotlight with

:09:15. > :09:18.Justin and Natalie. Pond owners get together to find out more about a

:09:19. > :09:30.deadly virus that's killing frogs, toads and newts. And David will have

:09:31. > :09:35.the weather forecast for us in a few moments. In sport, there were mixed

:09:36. > :09:38.fortunes for the Channel Islands cricket teams on the opening day of

:09:39. > :09:41.the World Division Five tournament in Malaysia. Jersey started with a

:09:42. > :09:44.60`run victory over Nigeria. Meanwhile Guernsey started with a

:09:45. > :09:47.narrow 33`run defeat to Caylan Islands. The top two teams `t the

:09:48. > :09:53.end of the tournament will be promoted. Is Guernsey ready for

:09:54. > :09:57.kerbside recycling? When islanders leave their normal bins out, they'll

:09:58. > :09:59.also have to leave a bag of recyclable items like tins `nd

:10:00. > :10:03.cardboard too. To reassure householders that it won't `ll end

:10:04. > :10:05.up in landfill, Penny Elderfield has been to see happens next. How do you

:10:06. > :10:19.turn this.... Into this? Well it starts, rather

:10:20. > :10:32.noisily, here. The vehicles arrive early in the morning. Later that on

:10:33. > :10:47.the floor here at Mayside. We then separated all. `` separate ht all.

:10:48. > :10:50.The recyclables then travel along this conveyor belt where thdy are

:10:51. > :10:54.sorted ` and you can probably just see that big orange thing ` that's a

:10:55. > :10:57.massive magnet sucking out the cans. Then all the different bits ` the

:10:58. > :11:01.plastic, cartons, and cans ` literally just fire out of here

:11:02. > :11:06.Ready to be baled. These ard clean, recycled products ready to go to

:11:07. > :11:10.mills in the UK to be made hnto new plastic, cardboard and paper. And on

:11:11. > :11:14.Monday morning we are raring to go. So Mayside Recycling may be ready

:11:15. > :11:20.for the start of kerbside. But are you? Hopefully everyone will know

:11:21. > :11:24.that it is a clear bag week next week, that means that if yot put the

:11:25. > :11:34.wrong Bankstown, they will be left so that you know as a householder

:11:35. > :11:37.that it was the wrong bag. So get your clear plastic bags ready for

:11:38. > :11:42.next week. Because kerbside recycling is coming to stredt near

:11:43. > :11:47.you soon. I like it when Penny does stories like that because now I

:11:48. > :11:51.understand what how it all works. It was a beautiful day across the

:11:52. > :11:59.islands today, and it looks like more ahead, David. There is a weak

:12:00. > :12:02.weather front coming across as tomorrow that will introducd quite a

:12:03. > :12:05.bit of cloud and some spots of rain, but as that this appears we will

:12:06. > :12:12.have some sunshine to enjoy this weekend. `` disappears.

:12:13. > :12:17.We have a stretch of cloud stretching from Scotland down to

:12:18. > :12:22.Southern Ireland. We have bden quite blessed with clear skies today, but

:12:23. > :12:26.eventually this weather system, weakening all the while, gr`dually

:12:27. > :12:32.moves towards us, bringing some patchy, like rain and some low

:12:33. > :12:36.cloud. And it is close by in the middle of the day, but it is a very

:12:37. > :12:41.weak affair because high prdssure is starting to take charge, and we have

:12:42. > :12:44.not seen that for quite a while We have high pressure in the ndar

:12:45. > :12:50.continent which will dominate our weather. We have winds from the

:12:51. > :12:56.south and the South East. So, clouding over tonight, with a few

:12:57. > :12:59.spots of light rain and a mhld night compared to last night. The wind,

:13:00. > :13:07.from the south and the south`west. For tomorrow, it is rather grey at

:13:08. > :13:11.first, misty, with drizzle, some persistent rain for a short time,

:13:12. > :13:17.which will fizzle out, then it will clear from the North, so cldaring

:13:18. > :13:21.for Guernsey and Alderney, `nd then Joe `` jersey, later in the evening.

:13:22. > :13:28.There are other coastal Watdrs forecasts.

:13:29. > :13:53.There is the forecast as we head into the weekend. We have not seen

:13:54. > :13:57.that for a while, blue skies on Saturday and Sunday. And

:13:58. > :14:01.temperatures of around 15 Cdlsius. It will be cloudy on Monday, but

:14:02. > :14:05.next week, that high pressure is here to stay, so this is solething

:14:06. > :14:12.that we're going to have to get used to, much better than wind and rain.

:14:13. > :14:16.Blue skies, what a rarity, H will have to take a photo. I will hand

:14:17. > :14:26.you over now to just on and Natalie with more from Spotlight.

:14:27. > :14:29.to be hard`won by Somerset htself. Well the effects of this winter s

:14:30. > :14:33.storms are still being felt and more damage is coming to light all the

:14:34. > :14:36.time. In North Cornwall part of a road into Port Gaverne has

:14:37. > :14:39.collapsed. People living thdre say they feel cut off and as Eldanor

:14:40. > :14:42.Parkinson reports the road lay not be repaired until the summer. Like

:14:43. > :14:46.many coastal villages in thd South West, Port Gaverne was battdred by

:14:47. > :14:50.the storms and during the l`st high tide the waves washed away part of

:14:51. > :14:53.the road leading into the vhllage. South West Water engineers have been

:14:54. > :14:57.working to repair a broken sewage pipe, but people living herd say

:14:58. > :15:03.they have been told it could be June before the road itself is rdpaired.

:15:04. > :15:09.This little cove is popular with visitors, in particular day visitors

:15:10. > :15:12.from just up the hill at Port Isaac. Local businesses here say unless

:15:13. > :15:17.this road is fixed soon it will affect their summer trade. Richard

:15:18. > :15:23.has just opened a guest house. He says they feel cut off. To go to the

:15:24. > :15:28.Co`Op, which is a half mile round trip for me, it's a 12 mile trip and

:15:29. > :15:35.they're closing the road up there on Monday. So I don't know where we

:15:36. > :15:39.will go then. Do you think this might affect your visitors? Yeah, I

:15:40. > :15:45.think it will affect here and the pub, all sorts of things I think.

:15:46. > :15:49.The Port Gaverne Hotel is also open for business, but they fear some

:15:50. > :15:53.people will be put off by the fences and closure signs. People that know

:15:54. > :15:57.where we are and know the roads and they will still find their way here,

:15:58. > :16:00.now we have got the signage right, but it will make a difference,

:16:01. > :16:04.because a lot of people comd to Port Isaac firstly and then come down the

:16:05. > :16:11.hill to us. Cornwall Council is also facing a storm damage bill of more

:16:12. > :16:18.than ?21 million. They say they have yet to assess this problem `nd come

:16:19. > :16:22.up with a time scale for repairs. The engineer in charge of s`ving a

:16:23. > :16:25.historic clock tower in Cornwall which was damaged by last month s

:16:26. > :16:30.storms says it was extremelx close to coming down. As John Danks

:16:31. > :16:34.reports, the building in Kingsand needed propping up after waves

:16:35. > :16:36.destroyed some of its found`tions. Valentine's Day and a huge wave

:16:37. > :16:43.explodes against Kingsand's clock tower and Institute building. Some

:16:44. > :16:48.feared the already storm`ravaged structure wouldn't last the night.

:16:49. > :16:54.But survive it did, albeit with significant damage. One of the

:16:55. > :16:58.interesting things was the `ctual tower, we recorded it as moving as

:16:59. > :17:07.much as 15 millimetres as a result of the storm damage! How close was

:17:08. > :17:11.it to coming down do you thhnk? Extremely close. My first thoughts

:17:12. > :17:16.until I sat down and thought about it was we are not going to be able

:17:17. > :17:20.to save this one. Almost three weeks on and not only is the clock tower

:17:21. > :17:23.still standing, the building has been stabilised and extensive

:17:24. > :17:26.repairs carried out. We havd gradually built out and reinforced

:17:27. > :17:30.the hole with steel reinforcement, tying it back into the masonry and

:17:31. > :17:34.then sprayed concrete so we have now got a full thickness and yot can see

:17:35. > :17:43.it is looking a lot more robust than it did. To keep it that way there's

:17:44. > :17:49.talk of raising the sea wall at the base. All the work to save the

:17:50. > :17:52.building has been done with the blessing of English Heritagd, who

:17:53. > :17:59.visited the site last month. The cost so far is thought to bd in the

:18:00. > :18:03.region of ?100,000. Pond owners across Cornwall are being asked to

:18:04. > :18:07.come forward to help research into two deadly diseases that ard

:18:08. > :18:10.threatening frogs, newts and toads. A student from Exeter University is

:18:11. > :18:14.conducting experiments to sde if the diseases are present in the county

:18:15. > :18:17.and, if so, how far they've spread. Chytrid fungus and ranavirus are

:18:18. > :18:21.already known to be in the TK and are being blamed for the de`ths of

:18:22. > :18:24.huge numbers of amphibians `round the world. Andy Birkett went along

:18:25. > :18:35.to see what the researchers discovered. Look into my pond and

:18:36. > :18:41.you will find all sorts of creatures. But are our frogs and

:18:42. > :18:47.newts coming under fire frol a new disease. They are known to cause

:18:48. > :18:52.declines. Ranavirus can imp`ct populations in other parts of the

:18:53. > :19:01.country and in common frogs. That will have a knock on effect. We hope

:19:02. > :19:08.it won't be as bad as what we see. Monitoring it is important. The

:19:09. > :19:12.search begins and we soon spot something. He may have got `way for

:19:13. > :19:24.now, but we soon had our first catch. We have got a newt! Hello!

:19:25. > :19:29.Where is he? He is there. They're so camouflaged. Ally is putting out the

:19:30. > :19:38.message for pond owners to get in touch. She is collecting salples. It

:19:39. > :19:45.was a link that a friend sent me on Facebook. It said, told us `bout

:19:46. > :19:50.this study and I thought it looked interesting so we found out more.

:19:51. > :19:56.Despite my help ` we still couldn't find that frog. But we were on a

:19:57. > :20:01.roll with the newts. Tlncht is do there `` There is two there. I have

:20:02. > :20:08.hit the jackpot. You have got five! It was time to leave Ally t`ke her

:20:09. > :20:13.samples and in true televishon tradition, she caught the frog after

:20:14. > :20:23.he left. I was warned never work with children or amphibians He was

:20:24. > :20:27.waiting for him to leave! Sound like it. One of the National Trust's

:20:28. > :20:30.largest repair projects is tnderway. After years of having buckets in

:20:31. > :20:33.corridors to catch water from the leaking roof, ?11 million is being

:20:34. > :20:38.spent on making Castle Drogo at Drewsteignton watertight. Chris

:20:39. > :20:42.Lyddon has been given an early look at the scale of the work before the

:20:43. > :20:54.site is open to visitors thhs weekend. Drilling out 40 miles of

:20:55. > :21:00.mortar inch by inch. Lifting out 3 thousand blocks of granite `nd

:21:01. > :21:05.relaying concrete by the bucketful. It is the largest project ever

:21:06. > :21:10.undertaken by the National Trust. The castle hardly recognisable and

:21:11. > :21:13.under a protective roof ` lhke something out after a James Bond

:21:14. > :21:22.film set. From this weekend, it will be open to visitors. But whx? We

:21:23. > :21:27.think it is important to sh`re the whole process. We spend a l`rge

:21:28. > :21:31.amount on repairing our building and this building. And ultimately we

:21:32. > :21:36.hold these for the benefit of the nation. So it is important that not

:21:37. > :21:40.only do people experience what is going on and see the work that has

:21:41. > :21:46.to be done to repair the buhldings, but see where the money goes really.

:21:47. > :21:50.The walls and parapets abovd the old leaking roof are all being taken

:21:51. > :21:57.down, stone by stone. To en`ble a new water tight roof to go on. This

:21:58. > :22:03.is the original waterproofing. So we have the original concrete `nd the

:22:04. > :22:03.original ash felt and a latdr layer. The problem This

:22:04. > :22:06.original ash felt and a latdr layer. The problem with the materi`l is it

:22:07. > :22:10.expands and contracts in thd hot and cold and then it cracks and the

:22:11. > :22:18.water gets through. It is only when you get to the top more an 60 foot

:22:19. > :22:28.up you can appreciate the scale of the operation. The scaffoldhng

:22:29. > :22:33.weighs more than 500 tonnes. If you laid them together they would reach

:22:34. > :22:38.as far as Cardiff. This is the base of the tower. We have taken out the

:22:39. > :22:43.bottom two quarters of stondwork, so bring the membrane across the lower

:22:44. > :22:52.roof and up to make a seal. These plate and this this structure hold

:22:53. > :22:59.up all the castle above. Me`nwhile deep down inside the castle... Here

:23:00. > :23:02.in the library the carpets `nd pictures have been covered to

:23:03. > :23:06.protect them during the work. These beams taken from the southern part

:23:07. > :23:14.of droe goes have been restored and `` droe goes have been restored

:23:15. > :23:19.Each of the granite stones has its own number and bears a yellow dot at

:23:20. > :23:24.its north`facing point to m`ke sure it goes back in exactly the right

:23:25. > :23:35.place. Let's hope they get ht right. The work here will go on until 017.

:23:36. > :23:41.What a mammoth project. Makds the little DIY jobs I have got to do at

:23:42. > :23:50.home seem easier. Now time for the weather. A little bird tells me

:23:51. > :23:57.summer might arrive this Christmas This Christmas? What bird h`ve you

:23:58. > :24:01.been talking to. No, th weekend Don't believe everything yot read.

:24:02. > :24:10.Will bit a white Christmas. Justin, just get on with your work there!

:24:11. > :24:20.There is no need too switch your heating on yet. Thank goodndss! Much

:24:21. > :24:24.quieter weather heading our way and the most important story has to be

:24:25. > :24:27.the fact that there is no rdally heavy rain in the forecast for the

:24:28. > :24:33.next five days. Some rain around today and that has been heavier than

:24:34. > :24:38.we thought. Tomorrow it is ` cloudy start, the mist will clear `nd the

:24:39. > :24:44.sunshine will return. This great line of cloud is rain`bearing. The

:24:45. > :24:49.heaviest rain is across Ireland and Scotland. It is sinking south,

:24:50. > :24:56.bringing further patchy rain. As it does move south, it gets we`ker and

:24:57. > :25:03.waeshg. By the time `` ` we`ker By the time it is over us therd not

:25:04. > :25:07.much in it. By the time we get to the afternoon we have a weak ridge

:25:08. > :25:12.of high pressure that will dominate the weather across the Chang,

:25:13. > :25:18.England and France. The winds coming from the south mean higher

:25:19. > :25:22.temperatures No as high as xou have been reading in the newspapdrs.

:25:23. > :25:27.There is the cloud from tod`y. We have had patchy rain and sole has

:25:28. > :25:32.been quite heavy and a bit lore widespread than we thought. This was

:25:33. > :25:35.earlier in the Tamar valley, the skies were leaden and we had rain.

:25:36. > :25:39.But fifth skies were leaden and we had rain.

:25:40. > :25:49.But our cameraman Dan, I thhnk he is a wildlife cameraman. These have

:25:50. > :25:55.been great shots of the moss and the green ery. The rain fall th`t we

:25:56. > :26:02.will see over the next 24 hours is very small. So eventually things

:26:03. > :26:10.improve, dry conditions in the forexas cast for the weekend. But

:26:11. > :26:17.not tonight. Some rain and listy. Some of it has not lifted. @ mild

:26:18. > :26:21.night at eight or nine degrdes. Tomorrow rain in the morning. After

:26:22. > :26:25.lunch that does clear. The visibility improves, the mist goes

:26:26. > :26:31.and the sunshine comes back out with temperatures of 12 or 13. And much

:26:32. > :26:36.lighter winds too. For the Hsles of Scilly, some patchy rain cldaring

:26:37. > :26:39.and then fine and dry. If you're heading out to sea times of high

:26:40. > :26:52.water are: Expect the surf to be useable, but

:26:53. > :26:58.on the choppy side. Sea temperature around nine or ten degrees. Here is

:26:59. > :27:03.the coastal waters forecast. The winds mostly from the west. They

:27:04. > :27:06.will veer north`westerly. And ease during the day. Some showers and

:27:07. > :27:12.then becoming fair. How abott that for an outlook? We haven't seen that

:27:13. > :27:17.for three months ` four mainly dry days and I at the moment, I can t

:27:18. > :27:24.give you a noer cast for `` forecast for Christmas. Keep us postdd Now

:27:25. > :27:27.tomorrow on the programme wd need your help to solve a mysterx. These

:27:28. > :27:30.World War One diaries have been discovered in Plymouth. Thex are a

:27:31. > :27:33.fascinating and graphic record of life on the frontline experhenced by

:27:34. > :27:37.a South West soldier. Tomorrow we'll reveal who wrote them and try to

:27:38. > :27:42.find his family so the diarhes can be returned to them. ! Join us for
