:00:27. > :00:29.Of The evening. `` good evening. The man accused of murdering 46`year`old

:00:30. > :00:32.Colin Chevalier has appeared in court in Jersey. 35`year`old Darren

:00:33. > :00:35.Neil McCormack has been remanded in custody following a short hearing.

:00:36. > :00:39.He didn't enter a plea. Colin Chevalier was found in a flat in St

:00:40. > :00:41.Helier at the weekend. Jen Smith was in court. Darren Neil McCormack

:00:42. > :00:44.appeared before the Royal Court today`charged with the murder of

:00:45. > :00:48.Colin Chevalier. The body of the 46`year`old was found at his home in

:00:49. > :00:51.Duhamal Place on Saturday night. The Royal Court was sitting here at the

:00:52. > :00:54.Magistrates Court. Mr McCormack appeared wearing a white and blue

:00:55. > :00:58.addidas T`shirt. His lawyer ` Advocate Julian Gollop ` told the

:00:59. > :01:00.court he would reserve his plea. The 35`year`old was remanded in custody

:01:01. > :01:03.until June the 16th. A 31`year`old woman and another

:01:04. > :01:06.35`year`old man also held after Mr Chevalier's murder have been

:01:07. > :01:09.released on bail. As Mr McCormack left court today, Jersey Police say

:01:10. > :01:17.they're still looking for anyone with information to come forward.

:01:18. > :01:20.There are more claims that sport in the Channel Islands is under threat

:01:21. > :01:23.after an inter`insular competition was postponed due to travel

:01:24. > :01:27.problems. The annual athletics meeting between Guernsey and Jersey

:01:28. > :01:32.has been put on hold due to a lack of capacity on flights between the

:01:33. > :01:36.islands. Mike Wilkins reports. The race is on, but for some of

:01:37. > :01:44.these Guernsey athletes one of their main races of the year is off. The

:01:45. > :01:48.reason? Well according to athletics bosses, it's due to changes to

:01:49. > :01:57.airline and ferry schedules. The opportunity to compete against the

:01:58. > :02:05.old rivals in Jersey may not happen. It would be a tragic blow because it

:02:06. > :02:09.will impact. It is much easier for us to go and compete in Hampshire

:02:10. > :02:12.than it is in Jersey which is a ridiculous For those who enjoy

:02:13. > :02:17.competing against their old rivals it's a frustrating time. State of

:02:18. > :02:21.affairs. Being in a sport where we had to travel overseas for all our

:02:22. > :02:25.competitions, it is a nightmare. When you have to be in peak

:02:26. > :02:29.condition and what you're travelling to BEC, it really gets on your

:02:30. > :02:33.nerves. Aurigny and Blue Islands now share the route between Guernsey and

:02:34. > :02:37.Jersey. But the boss of Aurigny told me that the airlines are not the

:02:38. > :02:42.ones to blame. A lot of the criticism has been based on

:02:43. > :02:47.companies who historically used the ferries to move large groups between

:02:48. > :02:54.the islands for competitions. Fairies aren't operating and now

:02:55. > :02:59.they expect us to magic seats. `` fairies. It is unrealistic and we're

:03:00. > :03:06.looking forward to talking to groups to develop a plan. And it's not just

:03:07. > :03:08.athletics having problems, cricket and swimming teams have also told

:03:09. > :03:11.the BBC they're encountering significant problems when trying to

:03:12. > :03:14.arrange inter island travel. But for these athletes, whether they win or

:03:15. > :03:18.lose, they're just hoping the airline and ferry companies can help

:03:19. > :03:20.them cross the finish line. Mike Wilkins BBC Channel Islands News

:03:21. > :03:23.Guernsey. And we tried to contact Condor

:03:24. > :03:25.Ferries today but they were unable to provide a comment.

:03:26. > :03:28.Guernsey's Education Department's has apologised to students wrongly

:03:29. > :03:31.told they'd secured scholarships at grant supported colleges in the

:03:32. > :03:34.island after errors in the way eleven plus exam results were

:03:35. > :03:37.reported. Two pupils were mistakenly told they'd won places at Ladies'

:03:38. > :03:40.College and Elizabeth College. The department now says an investigation

:03:41. > :03:47.is underway, and swift action will be taken.

:03:48. > :03:51.A million pounds of taxpayers' money is being spent on overhauling the

:03:52. > :03:55.way medical records are kept by GPs in Jersey. All fifteen island

:03:56. > :03:57.surgeries have signed up to the new system, which will move patient

:03:58. > :04:01.information from individual practices to a centralised store. It

:04:02. > :04:05.means any other GPs you may see, such as the out of hours service `

:04:06. > :04:14.will have access to your medical history if you give them permission.

:04:15. > :04:18.We will have a list of your drugs and your allergies, your past

:04:19. > :04:24.medical history and even more importantly, how things are

:04:25. > :04:31.evolving. If you see your own GP in the afternoon with stomach pains, in

:04:32. > :04:36.the evening that information will be available to the GP who you then.

:04:37. > :04:37.Now, from slaughter house ` to art house.

:04:38. > :04:40.Guernsey's old abbatoir could soon be the headquarters for an

:04:41. > :04:43.international art project which will see a 30 metre long Chinese Junk

:04:44. > :04:47.constructed at the harbour. The States have agreed to rent the

:04:48. > :04:48.building for the next two years for the ambitious project. Penny

:04:49. > :04:52.Elderfield reports. The man who filled the skies with

:04:53. > :04:55.fireworks at the Beijing Olympics. Will soon be filling this rather

:04:56. > :04:58.different space. After 150 years of being an abbatoir ` the Chinese

:04:59. > :05:08.artist Cai Guo`Qiang could soon make this the centre of his latest

:05:09. > :05:14.project. It will be a headquarters for us to bring in lots of students

:05:15. > :05:19.as part of the education side of the initiative. It will be a focal point

:05:20. > :05:24.for people to meet and learn more about the project themselves and

:05:25. > :05:27.they will be able to walk literally across the footbridge and have a

:05:28. > :05:30.look at the shipbuilding which will be in progress. One of the more

:05:31. > :05:34.interesting elements of this project is perhaps what will be happening on

:05:35. > :05:37.this land behind me. A chinese junk boat will be built from scratch.

:05:38. > :05:43.Measuring 30 metres long, and three stories high it'll eventually be

:05:44. > :05:47.launched. And it will sail around the world as a floating gallery. Of

:05:48. > :05:51.course these pictures are just of a model of what it'll look like. And

:05:52. > :05:54.just like the boat ` the hope is the project will be much bigger than

:05:55. > :06:02.just a local art installation. While the vessel is being built, it

:06:03. > :06:07.becomes quite hopefully add to list attraction and also an educational

:06:08. > :06:12.initiatives. Also when the vessel is built, he's looking to have one of

:06:13. > :06:17.his signature if explosion projects on the boat when it goes out of the

:06:18. > :06:21.harbour. So if the Beijing Olympics are anything to go by... As well as

:06:22. > :06:25.a lot more going on here, we should get quite a show as the ship heads

:06:26. > :06:27.off out there. I will leave you with the weather

:06:28. > :06:32.forecast. I will leave you with

:06:33. > :06:38.Good evening. We have had another fine day and there are more of those

:06:39. > :06:43.to come. More cloud around later on tonight and perhaps more cloud

:06:44. > :06:48.tomorrow. It may produce a shower but mostly dry and played tomorrow

:06:49. > :06:55.with spells of sunshine. The cloud will drift and later on tonight.

:06:56. > :06:59.After lots of clear sky, more cloud impeding from the north by the end

:07:00. > :07:05.of the night. There may be the odd shower. Then in dry with

:07:06. > :07:10.temperatures down to six degrees. Quite a lot of cloud around tomorrow

:07:11. > :07:18.and a lot of sunny spells. There is the risk of a shower passing by.

:07:19. > :07:24.Best of the sunshine will be for Jersey. It stays dry into the

:07:25. > :07:34.weekend. Light winds and some sunshine. Good night from us.

:07:35. > :07:41.weekend. If you are travelling further afield here is a look at the

:07:42. > :07:48.National pig genome. -- National picture.

:07:49. > :07:53.Most of us will be dry and bright with some sunshine coming through.

:07:54. > :07:57.That goes for the weekend as well. Look out for some chilly night.

:07:58. > :08:04.Certainly tonight in the South temperatures falling away under

:08:05. > :08:10.those clear skies. As low as two or three degrees in rural areas. Still

:08:11. > :08:15.some patchy rain through parts of southern Scotland and Northern

:08:16. > :08:20.Ireland early on in the day. But most of England and Wales have a dry

:08:21. > :08:28.start. Some spells of sunshine especially across the East, but some

:08:29. > :08:34.mist and fog patches around. They should not last too long. The main

:08:35. > :08:42.change tomorrow is this rain slowly creeping across North West England.

:08:43. > :08:44.And eventually we have rain across North Wales. To the north of that
