:00:00. > :00:11.Good evening. Work to install a new And

:00:12. > :00:15.Good evening. Work to install a new electricity cable between France and

:00:16. > :00:19.Jersey has finally begun. It will be the main source of electrichty for

:00:20. > :00:26.Jersey and Guernsey. It is costing ?70 million and has taken tdn years

:00:27. > :00:30.of planning. Emma Chambers reports. It's noisy, but it's needed. For

:00:31. > :00:34.nearly two years, electricity has been generated here at La Collette

:00:35. > :00:40.power station after one of the two cables supplying Jersey with

:00:41. > :00:43.electricity failed. A vital but costly back`up, which saw

:00:44. > :00:47.electricity prices rise 1.5$ this month. But now this under`sda

:00:48. > :00:51.electricity cable is being installed. It is called Norlandie

:00:52. > :00:56.three and will be laid two letres below the sea bed between France and

:00:57. > :00:58.Jersey. Not only will it be a more reliable supply of electrichty, but

:00:59. > :01:09.it's also more affordable, `lthough those behind the project haven't

:01:10. > :01:13.ruled out future price incrdases. We are not expecting prices to go up as

:01:14. > :01:18.a result of this beyond what they are today but as I say therd are

:01:19. > :01:21.many factors that come into play when we determine the pricing of

:01:22. > :01:24.power in Jersey and they made changes we go forward. This third

:01:25. > :01:26.cable isn't the only change being made to Jersey and Guernsey's

:01:27. > :01:29.electricity map. Other inter`connectors are being dxplored.

:01:30. > :01:33.They are looking at replacing the one which failed in 2012, as well as

:01:34. > :01:36.installing a second one between Jersey and Guernsey. But Gudrnsey

:01:37. > :01:45.Electricity are also planning their own direct link to the French power

:01:46. > :01:50.station. We are looking at ` cable going direct to France, but as in

:01:51. > :01:55.this cable, planning can take six to ten years the cables to France and

:01:56. > :02:05.so we have already started on that project but it will be sometime

:02:06. > :02:08.before is brought to fruition. Until then, they will benefit frol this

:02:09. > :02:11.third cable once it is up and running next year. It will `lso

:02:12. > :02:15.enable the Channel Islands to export power if they decide to explore

:02:16. > :02:16.offshore wind and tidal powdr in future.

:02:17. > :02:19.Channel Islanders who claim they were sexually abused by Jimly Savile

:02:20. > :02:22.are being told how to get compensation by adverts in local

:02:23. > :02:25.newspapers. The Jersey Evenhng Post and Guernsey Press, together with

:02:26. > :02:27.other newspapers in the UK, are running adverts today with

:02:28. > :02:29.compensation advice. Victims of abuse will be able to make claims

:02:30. > :03:02.against the Savile Channel Islands Air Search says the

:03:03. > :03:05.timing of its aircraft being out of action has been fortunate, having

:03:06. > :03:10.missed just two call`outs shnce then. The Lion's Pride crash`landed

:03:11. > :03:13.in November last year. A new interim aircraft should be back flyhng soon,

:03:14. > :03:18.with a long` term replacement expected later this year.

:03:19. > :03:21.A ?24 million building projdct to improve mental health provision in

:03:22. > :03:24.Guernsey is on track and on budget, despite delays caused by thd bad

:03:25. > :03:27.weather. It should open next year. Penny Elderfield has been for a look

:03:28. > :04:00.weather but if you would like to go inside I will show you around. What

:04:01. > :04:07.will be in the building when it is complete? This is where we will put

:04:08. > :04:13.the child and adolescent services. At the moment, we are upgrading this

:04:14. > :04:19.building. There is quite a lot to do. We are lining the walls and the

:04:20. > :04:25.next phase is to waterproof the roof. One in five people ard

:04:26. > :04:28.affected by mental health issues locally, what difference will it

:04:29. > :04:34.make in bringing down those figures? We are keen to bring

:04:35. > :04:44.services onto one site to h`ve a co`ordinated centre. Again, some

:04:45. > :04:47.facilities have a stigma attached, such as certain hospitals. By

:04:48. > :04:54.bringing people onto the site we will be able to join togethdr

:04:55. > :05:00.services. The rest of the development will have adult mental

:05:01. > :05:04.health services. You mention the hospital this will replace, when

:05:05. > :05:11.will things wind down their? We will commission this site in the middle

:05:12. > :05:17.of 2015 and we are on target, despite the weather they have had

:05:18. > :05:23.here. We will be moving services in a coordinated way about the middle

:05:24. > :05:28.of 2015. By the middle of ndxt year, not only should this look

:05:29. > :05:36.different, but the care that people receiving Guernsey should change for

:05:37. > :05:39.the better. Football and Guernsey FC ard through

:05:40. > :05:43.to the play`offs for promothon from the Ryman South League. It's after a

:05:44. > :05:47.2`2 draw away at Walton Castals yesterday. The Green Lions' goals

:05:48. > :05:50.came from Ryan`Zico Black and Dom Heaume. It leaves Guernsey fourth in

:05:51. > :05:55.the Ryman South before the final games this weekend.

:05:56. > :05:58.Meanwhile, Jersey Rugby Club face a battle to stay in the Champhonship,

:05:59. > :06:02.following another loss on S`turday. The 25`17 defeat at home to London

:06:03. > :06:05.Scottish saw the Islanders drop to the bottom of the Championship, two

:06:06. > :06:09.points behind Ealing and with just one match still to play. Jersey must

:06:10. > :06:12.win their final game against Bedford Blues on Saturday to have a chance

:06:13. > :06:21.of staying in the second tidr of English rugby.

:06:22. > :06:25.That's it from BBC Channel Hslands. Radio Guernsey and Radio Jersey are

:06:26. > :06:32.back on air from 6am tomorrow. Now here's David Braine with thd

:06:33. > :06:36.weather. Goodnight. Good evening, it is a unsettled this

:06:37. > :06:40.week with rain tomorrow. Trx on first day Friday and then ftrther

:06:41. > :06:49.outbreaks of rain in the wedkend. Tomorrow is where. Outbreaks of rain

:06:50. > :06:53.throughout the day. Some brhghtness briefly perhaps later in thd day.

:06:54. > :07:02.Tomorrow night, briefly showers thicker cloud coming in, holding up

:07:03. > :07:06.temperatures quite well. Tolorrow we have raid on or off throughout the

:07:07. > :07:16.day. It might ease for the time but that will be replaced by showers.

:07:17. > :07:20.The outlook is bright on Thtrsday with the risk of showers on Friday

:07:21. > :07:24.and more persistent rain returning on Saturday. It also becomes windy

:07:25. > :07:30.as we head to the start of the weekend. Good night.

:07:31. > :07:41.is not looking too bad. That's weather front.

:07:42. > :07:46.It is never too early to think about next weekend and I will be doing

:07:47. > :07:51.that in a couple of minutes. But we have a sizeable chunk of this

:07:52. > :07:56.week's whether to go first. There are more showers, but there will be

:07:57. > :08:02.spells of warm sunshine around as well, so there will be no frost at

:08:03. > :08:05.night. Bands of showers across the western side of the UK and

:08:06. > :08:11.Scotland's passing through overnight. Another heavy burst

:08:12. > :08:18.coming into the south-west later on in the night. This rain band slowly

:08:19. > :08:23.comes in from the South West and this is how Wednesday starts at

:08:24. > :08:29.eight o'clock in the morning. It will turn out to be a warmer day in

:08:30. > :08:30.Scotland, but misty low cloud in the North East
