:00:19. > :00:22.Good evening. The Jersey Roxal Potato Company which grows `nd

:00:23. > :00:26.supplies Jersey Royal potatoes has been sold to a UK firm. It's been

:00:27. > :00:31.bought by Scottish`based Produce Investments for around ?15 lillion.

:00:32. > :00:34.Edward Sault reports. The Jdrsey Royal Potato Company employs 50

:00:35. > :00:37.people at peak season in thd island, growing, grading, packing and

:00:38. > :00:42.washing the iconic local export Now it has new owners. It h`s been a

:00:43. > :00:46.vision for many years now that we as a company, a relatively small

:00:47. > :00:51.company in real terms, are stuck on a rock, dealing with a seasonal

:00:52. > :00:56.crop. To be part of a much larger entity makes more sense. Is it sad

:00:57. > :01:01.in a way that a local firm hs no longer going to be locally owned?

:01:02. > :01:06.You say it is not going to be locally owned and there is `n

:01:07. > :01:09.element of truth in that, btt the company will remain as it is.

:01:10. > :01:16.Charlie Gallichan exports Jdrsey Royals independently, as well as

:01:17. > :01:20.providing larger markets. It is going to represent a threat and an

:01:21. > :01:25.opportunity, I guess. Time will tell which will be the stronger. We are

:01:26. > :01:29.worried. We have seen other UK businesses come to Jersey. The farm

:01:30. > :01:34.next door has been bought ott. We are going to have to work h`rd to

:01:35. > :01:41.compete and fight to retain our local independents and independent

:01:42. > :01:47.farming business. We are told that jobs are not at risk. Export markets

:01:48. > :01:56.can be opened up. The message from bosses is that it is business as

:01:57. > :01:58.usual. Guernsey's Fire and Rescue Service

:01:59. > :02:01.wants to start charging bushnesses for some non`emergency servhces such

:02:02. > :02:04.as building inspections which are currently offered free. But as Mike

:02:05. > :02:11.Wilkins reports, the need to make savings is forcing the fire service

:02:12. > :02:15.to look for income elsewherd. Always there, ready to respond to an

:02:16. > :02:18.emergency. This service will remain free. But when officers aren't

:02:19. > :02:23.fighting fires, they could soon be finding finance. The fire and rescue

:02:24. > :02:26.service is looking to start charging for things like testing companies

:02:27. > :02:36.fire alarm systems and provhding fire safety consultancy for new

:02:37. > :02:40.developments. Whenever we h`ve seen an increase in need, we havd asked

:02:41. > :02:44.for more budget, demonstratdd the need and traditionally that is how

:02:45. > :02:52.we function. But in these thmes of constraint, we have to look at doing

:02:53. > :02:55.things in a more innovative way if you like. The law currently prevents

:02:56. > :02:59.the fire and rescue service from charging for any of its services, so

:03:00. > :03:05.the States will be asked next month to approve a change in legislation.

:03:06. > :03:10.It must be emphasised the proposed changes will not affect domdstic

:03:11. > :03:13.households. Emergency call`outs and fire alarm assessments will still be

:03:14. > :03:16.free of charge. If approved, this will mean an added cost for firms in

:03:17. > :03:19.the island. The Home Departlent says the fire service could make about

:03:20. > :03:31.?12,500 a year from providing services to businesses. A b`ttle

:03:32. > :03:35.over who clears up after a landslide in Jersey has reached a stalemate.

:03:36. > :03:38.Two years ago, a landslip ddstroyed a beach hut in Rozel. The woman who

:03:39. > :03:42.owns it has been desperatelx trying to track down the owner of the land

:03:43. > :03:47.and make the area safe. Sophie Sulehria reports.

:03:48. > :03:51.The precious blue heart before the landslide. As a child, mothdr and

:03:52. > :03:57.grandmother, Diana spent evdry weekend at her precious blud beach

:03:58. > :04:04.hut. My children grow up Dan there. My grandchildren have been dnjoying

:04:05. > :04:08.it. They love it. The littld house. But then it went wrong and `ll

:04:09. > :04:19.that's left of the little house is this. It was so sad, Sophie, to see

:04:20. > :04:22.my hut smashed on the harbotr. Heavy rainfall in December, 2012,

:04:23. > :04:26.destroyed her hut. Since thdn the owner hasn't cleared the fallen land

:04:27. > :04:31.away. We have contacted all of the relevant states department but none

:04:32. > :04:38.of them are able to do anything None of them are able to make this

:04:39. > :04:42.man take responsibility. Di`na's not short of support in her fight, as

:04:43. > :04:49.people in Rozel gather to show her. Including the deputy for Trhnity.

:04:50. > :04:56.The bank could slide into the road and cause a lot of damage and a lot

:04:57. > :04:59.of harm to people walking bx. Safety is a real concern when it comes to

:05:00. > :05:04.the landslide because it is still moving and could end up in the

:05:05. > :05:08.harbour. Diana wants to movd it herself but has been advised not to

:05:09. > :05:12.encase she causes damage to other properties and then it would be her

:05:13. > :05:16.responsibility. It is down to the owner to move it and so far they

:05:17. > :05:26.have done nothing. All Dian` wants is to rebuild her beloved hdart and

:05:27. > :05:34.bring her family here once `gain. `` beloveds hut. The BBC has rdpeatedly

:05:35. > :05:36.tried to contact the owner of the land, a company called Gill Ltd but

:05:37. > :05:39.without success. 18 people and families from the

:05:40. > :05:43.Channel Islands are included in the Sunday Times Rich List this year

:05:44. > :05:46.with a combined total of more than ?12 billion. The Barclay brothers

:05:47. > :05:49.are the wealthiest Channel Hslanders and rank 16th nationally with a

:05:50. > :05:50.wealth of ?6 billion. Newcolers to the list include

:05:51. > :05:54.moneysupermarket.com founder Simon Nixon who's the richest entry for

:05:55. > :05:56.Jersey with more than ?800 lillion. Steve Lansdown, the co`founder of

:05:57. > :06:00.the financial group Hargreaves Lansdown and a Guernsey reshdent, is

:06:01. > :06:07.a new entry as the second rhchest in the Channel Islands with allost ?1.5

:06:08. > :06:14.billion. That is it from me. David h`s the

:06:15. > :06:19.local forecast next and the national weather follows him. Good nhght

:06:20. > :06:29.The weekend forecast looks very promising. The sun stays with us and

:06:30. > :06:34.it is going to be warm sunshine too. Fine and dry and we should see

:06:35. > :06:42.temperatures of 18, possiblx 19 degrees. Overnight, not a great deal

:06:43. > :06:50.to spoil a fine end to the day. A few mist patches forming. Tomorrow,

:06:51. > :06:55.we have got a reasonable dax. Patchy cloud will float by. It is ` lovely

:06:56. > :07:01.day with plenty of blue sky and sunshine. Strong sunshine too with

:07:02. > :07:05.temperatures from 16 on the coast to 18 or 19 in the land. A gentle

:07:06. > :07:09.north`easterly breeze. Sund`y is very similar. A lot more cloud will

:07:10. > :07:15.stop high`level cloud late hn the day making the sunshine hazx. On

:07:16. > :07:19.Monday, more cloudy. Small chance of a few showers late in the d`y. The

:07:20. > :07:24.real change comes on Tuesdax when we see some quite frequent showers

:07:25. > :07:29.more of a breeze and the temperatures drop. The full forecast

:07:30. > :07:31.for the UK coming up. From ts, good night. I leave you with a stmmary.

:07:32. > :07:40.chance for s(owers .ext week bup how far do you have to go to get proper

:07:41. > :07:44.rain? Thomas has the answer. For days now, we have been

:07:45. > :07:48.advertising some warm weather for the weekend and the forecast remains

:07:49. > :07:53.unchanged. In fact, hot sunshine on the way for many of us and talking

:07:54. > :07:59.about that, I would like to warn you how strong the Sunnis this time of

:08:00. > :08:04.year. In spring, we tend to flock to the sun and burn very easily. It is

:08:05. > :08:09.just as wrong as it is in July. Onto the forecast and for tonight, quiet

:08:10. > :08:13.weather across most parts of the country. Just the few spots of rain

:08:14. > :08:22.in the far north of the UK. A strong breeze as well. But other than that,

:08:23. > :08:25.a benign night. Temperatures remaining mild. Starting with the

:08:26. > :08:31.south of the country tomorrow, do not expect clear blue skies here.

:08:32. > :08:37.Fairweather cloud will be building but already, at this stage,

:08:38. > :08:38.temperatures around 16 degrees in the London area. This is
