:00:11. > :00:23.The company operates across both bailiwicks, but it was a promotional

:00:24. > :00:26.offer for faster broadband hn Jersey that sparked the investigathon. It

:00:27. > :00:30.offered customers what seemdd to be a good rate provision, but `fter 18

:00:31. > :00:32.months automatically moved them to a more expensive product. The

:00:33. > :00:37.promotion angered their competitors who say they don't have a ldvel

:00:38. > :00:45.playing field. Emma Chambers reports.

:00:46. > :00:50.Internet in Jersey is about to get a lot faster. All JT customers will be

:00:51. > :00:54.upgraded to 20 megabytes broadband next month, those currently on the

:00:55. > :00:58.two megabytes service have been offered a faster speed at the same

:00:59. > :01:04.price they are currently paxing for the next 18 months. Sounds like a

:01:05. > :01:08.good deal. Faster Internet `t a lower price. But this offer has

:01:09. > :01:14.upset some customers as thex will be automatically charged the ftll

:01:15. > :01:20.amount after the 18 month probation. Even if they don't want it. It is

:01:21. > :01:24.taxpayers' money and we need to use it wisely. Other operators can

:01:25. > :01:38.choose to compete in whatevdr way they see fit. `` fit. That hs what

:01:39. > :01:43.has happened. Competitors are customers as well as compethtors as

:01:44. > :01:55.they buy from JT. They say ht is on competitive. `` uncompetitive. They

:01:56. > :01:59.think the customer will think it is 7099, they only find out it is not

:02:00. > :02:05.when they start downloading. Competition authority have launched

:02:06. > :02:10.an investigation. The risk hs they wouldn't be better off at the end of

:02:11. > :02:13.18 months because they will be forced to make a short`term decision

:02:14. > :02:18.now to take a higher`priced product later. The other risk is th`t

:02:19. > :02:24.competitors of JT are in a position where they will struggle unless

:02:25. > :02:30.something changes in terms of the margins are available. JT s`y faster

:02:31. > :02:33.broadband is what customers want, but the competition authority will

:02:34. > :02:37.decide if choice is more important. Police are investigating after the

:02:38. > :02:41.body of a 73`year`old man w`s found in Jersey. Officers say the man s

:02:42. > :02:46.body was found in the back of a van this evening at Victoria Pidr in St

:02:47. > :02:48.Helier. A policeman who's police car crashed

:02:49. > :02:51.and overturned in Jersey yesterday morning has been released from

:02:52. > :02:56.hospital. The officer was rdsponding to an emergency call at the time of

:02:57. > :02:59.the crash at Le Hocq. `` wasn't responding. An investigation is

:03:00. > :03:02.underway. Guernsey Electricity's in the final

:03:03. > :03:05.stages of putting together hts case for another cable link to the island

:03:06. > :03:09.` a project that will cost between ?60 million and ?80 million. The

:03:10. > :03:12.company says it'll make the supply from France more secure. But the

:03:13. > :03:18.cost of the new cable is solething customers will have to foot the bill

:03:19. > :03:22.for. One thing the board is mindful of is affordability and in `ny

:03:23. > :03:27.business case we all think `bout the impact on customers and we generally

:03:28. > :03:30.say that if it creates too high an increase in tariffs, it is not worth

:03:31. > :03:33.it. Former Jersey Football Club manager

:03:34. > :03:37.Craig Culkin has announced his plans to set up new team to play hn the

:03:38. > :03:40.English Football League. He resigned as Jersey's manager after the

:03:41. > :03:43.island's defeat against Guernsey in the Murratti two weeks ago. Now

:03:44. > :03:50.Culkin says he's "on a misshon" to set up a league club similar to the

:03:51. > :03:54.Green Lions. I think we would need start at the bottom where Gternsey

:03:55. > :03:59.FC started. They have taken strides in the last three seasons and have

:04:00. > :04:03.had great success. We have ` lot to learn from them. Discussions need to

:04:04. > :04:06.be held with them. How it whll be done I am not too sure, it'll take a

:04:07. > :04:10.lot of financial support and backing. But how realistic hs it for

:04:11. > :04:13.Jersey? Chris Harrison reports. Can Jersey take on teams in the

:04:14. > :04:16.English leagues? Ex`Island lanager Craig Culkin seems to think so. And

:04:17. > :04:28.the Jersey Football Association are right behind him and his drdam. It

:04:29. > :04:33.needs to be a community club with a strong foundation. And then a

:04:34. > :04:40.pathway for players that gods right into the adult game. You also need

:04:41. > :04:44.cash. It is estimated the club would need at least ?250,000 a ye`r to

:04:45. > :04:52.support itself. Finance is one of the most important challengds facing

:04:53. > :04:58.smaller teams. Just below ldague level, they are averaging bdtween

:04:59. > :05:02.two and ?250 a week. Below that you are looking at a budget of 05 to

:05:03. > :05:06.?20,000 in the conference ldague. Guernsey FC was set up four years

:05:07. > :05:09.ago, and have seen nothing but success year after year in Dnglish

:05:10. > :05:16.leagues. But they too had to overcome challenges. There was a lot

:05:17. > :05:23.of negotiations to be done with a lot of different entities. Creating

:05:24. > :05:26.a whole new club, a whole ndw image and working with a lot of dhfferent

:05:27. > :05:29.professional people who knew what they were doing. But if Jersey do

:05:30. > :05:36.follow Guernsey's lead, there are concerns it could damage gr`ss

:05:37. > :05:40.roots. If you take the best 25 players out of any leak, thd

:05:41. > :05:45.standard will clearly drop. Having said that, the league will survive.

:05:46. > :05:48.In the coming weeks, Craig Culkin will be assessing all possibilities

:05:49. > :05:53.for the new club. Will Guernsey have a successful sister island? We will

:05:54. > :06:00.have to wait to see. Let's hope they don't score an own goal with this

:06:01. > :06:03.one. A final panel of the Bayeux Tapestry

:06:04. > :06:06.created by a community projdct in Alderney is to be celebrated in a

:06:07. > :06:09.special collection of stamps, themselves made from fabric. The

:06:10. > :06:12.famous embroidery shows the Norman conquest of England. More than 00

:06:13. > :06:14.people, including the Princd of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall,

:06:15. > :06:35.stitched the ten`foot panel. Good evening. Thunder and r`in will

:06:36. > :06:38.be our problem over the next 24 hours. It may clear towards dawn,

:06:39. > :06:45.further showers are possibld through the day. We face some sunshhne,

:06:46. > :06:48.relatively mild, some showers turning out to be heavy. Lott

:06:49. > :06:55.scattering to the South, thdy will sweep up fairly shortly. `` a lot.

:06:56. > :07:02.Come dawn, may be dry. `` m`inly dry. For much of the day, the cloud

:07:03. > :07:07.will come and go and so will be the showers. We will get brief glimpses

:07:08. > :07:13.of sunshine, but were showers do occur, they could be quite heavy. A

:07:14. > :07:19.top temperature of 16 Celsits. Not a grey deal of change for the weekend,

:07:20. > :07:25.Friday, the showers still there On Sunday, there is a better chance of

:07:26. > :07:30.more in the way of sunshine. There could be some isolated showdrs, but

:07:31. > :07:36.mostly dry. From us, it is good night. I will

:07:37. > :07:45.Good evening. Take some warm, humid air, add a generous measure of low

:07:46. > :07:53.pressure and you have the recipe for some pretty heavy rain. The warm,

:07:54. > :07:55.humid air is coming from the Mediterranean, it rises and

:07:56. > :08:01.condenses because of the low pressure, and comes down as heavy

:08:02. > :08:02.rain. It has been doing that all afternoon and evening across

:08:03. > :08:03.northern
