:03:20. > :03:22.High level swimming competitions can no longer be held at the Be`u Sejour

:03:23. > :03:24.swimming pool in Guernsey, because it's too short.

:03:25. > :03:27.A recent change in regulations set by the International governhng body

:03:28. > :03:31.of swimming, means the 25 mdtre pool is fractionally too small when

:03:32. > :03:37.If national competitions ard to be held there in future,

:03:38. > :03:44.the pool must be extended, as Emma Chambers reports.

:03:45. > :03:47.Training hard this morning ` Beau Sejour is the home to

:03:48. > :03:52.It's also been the home to national swimming competitions in Gudrnsey

:03:53. > :04:01.A recent rule change means the pool is now considered too small

:04:02. > :04:08.when electronic timing pads are used in the water.

:04:09. > :04:12.Beau Sejour has been the centre of swimming obviously

:04:13. > :04:20.And the ASA originally accepted 25 metre pools and putting the pads in,

:04:21. > :04:24.this was acceptable, but because the new pools are being built with

:04:25. > :04:31.this extra bit they've deemdd all pools have to be re`measured.

:04:32. > :04:37.And unfortunately Beau Sejotr didn't meet regulations by only a fraction.

:04:38. > :04:40.Now this is one of the electronic timing devices

:04:41. > :04:44.that are put at the end of dach lane during competitions and as xou can

:04:45. > :04:50.see they're not very thick `t all in fact they're only about 1cm wide.

:04:51. > :04:53.But now this new rule means the pool is too short

:04:54. > :04:59.They must be now held at thd pool in St Sampsons.

:05:00. > :05:07.St Sampsons pool hasn't got a swim down pool so when yot get

:05:08. > :05:10.a bit older, when you have ` big programme it makes it that luch more

:05:11. > :05:15.You need to flush that lacthc out before you get to the next race

:05:16. > :05:18.That could deter visiting tdams so the Minister in charge is keen

:05:19. > :05:24.We would have to take the thles off, skim some of the concrete

:05:25. > :05:28.We don't know what?s involvdd unfortunately with

:05:29. > :05:31.the cost that's something wd'll have to go to property services

:05:32. > :05:36.Being one centimetre short hsn't affecting these swimmers

:05:37. > :05:38.preparations for the Commonwealth Games taking place next

:05:39. > :05:44.month, but they hope a solution can be found so Beau Sejour doesn't sink

:05:45. > :05:54.Sport and in tennis Guernsey's Heather Watson is through

:05:55. > :05:58.to the next round at the Eastbourne Ageon Championship She came back to

:05:59. > :06:00.beat former Wimbledon semi finalist Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgarian

:06:01. > :06:26.I am back tomorrow at 6:30pl. There isn't a great deal of changd in our

:06:27. > :06:31.weather pattern. The high pressure is not quite close enough to keep

:06:32. > :06:37.all of the cloud at bay and we keep a bit of the breeze. Tomorrow, it is

:06:38. > :06:43.more cloudy but it is dry and warm and we should see some sunnx spells.

:06:44. > :06:48.Same process that has been happening over the last 24 hours. We have a

:06:49. > :06:55.lot of cloud coming through the edge of this pressure. It is drifting

:06:56. > :06:59.into Northern France into goosing cloudier skies. That process will

:07:00. > :07:08.happen over night to night. It will start off clear and later wd will

:07:09. > :07:14.see more cloud creeping in. Light winds to start the day. The cloud is

:07:15. > :07:23.extensive at first and it whll break up to sunny spells and we should see

:07:24. > :07:25.temperatures of 19 Celsius. The forecast onto the weekend is still

:07:26. > :07:33.dry with plenty of sunshine. days, a dip in teeperature Frhday

:07:34. > :07:38.with warmer temperatures o6er t`e weekend.

:07:39. > :07:44.The main theme through this week is one of mainly dry weather but with

:07:45. > :07:48.important variations from place to play sand from day-to-day. That was

:07:49. > :07:50.the case again today. A sizzling
