:00:00. > :00:11.Good evening. Tesco products could travelled

:00:12. > :00:17.Good evening. Tesco products could soon be on sale in an old Jdrsey

:00:18. > :00:20.brewery. Guernsey company Alliance has lodged ?30 million plans for a

:00:21. > :00:23.supermarket on the Ann Stredt site in St Helier. Penny Elderfidld

:00:24. > :00:29.reports. You can already get it in Gternsey.

:00:30. > :00:32.But this big name will soon be coming to Jersey as the Guernsey

:00:33. > :00:36.supermarket alliance looks to expand and build on its long term business

:00:37. > :00:39.deal with the multinational giant Tesco. `` Alliance. And loc`ted

:00:40. > :00:51.here, the new 30,000 square feet store would be one of Jersex's

:00:52. > :00:58.largest. This is what the Jdrsey store could look like. Alli`nce

:00:59. > :01:06.consider themselves call customers `` course cutters. There is a need,

:01:07. > :01:09.competition is always good, particularly in food retailhng,

:01:10. > :01:15.which seems to be high on the agenda, additives are significant

:01:16. > :01:18.proportion of the weekly cost. Lower priced goods are surely welcome

:01:19. > :01:23.news. But there are concerns about the need for more supermarkdts in

:01:24. > :01:28.Jersey. The council is mindful, we do not want oversupply, that adding

:01:29. > :01:32.to food waste which is also being reported. It is getting the balance

:01:33. > :01:35.right that offering consumers a greater range of products at

:01:36. > :01:43.affordable prices. So what do shoppers think? Any competition is

:01:44. > :01:48.good, very nice. It would close a lot of smaller shops, so max have a

:01:49. > :01:53.bad impact. Good for familids with kids, especially on a lower budget.

:01:54. > :01:56.It's not just Ann Street th`t Alliance have their eye on. With

:01:57. > :02:00.plans to turn this former f`ncy dress shop into a branch too. And

:02:01. > :02:04.while it could still be somd time before Tesco products are sold here,

:02:05. > :02:07.as the idea has to be given the go ahead by planners, Jersey ctstomers

:02:08. > :02:11.are another step closer to seeing Tesco items on local shelves.

:02:12. > :02:19.Well, plans for the Ann Strdet site also include over 300 car p`rking

:02:20. > :02:23.spaces and up to 41 apartments. The brewery itself closed its doors more

:02:24. > :02:26.than a decade ago. And some of the original buildings will be

:02:27. > :02:28.demolished if the plans get the go ahead. Jen Smith looks back at its

:02:29. > :02:32.history. They brewed beer here for more than

:02:33. > :02:35.130 years. In this rare picture you can see the delivery cart hdading

:02:36. > :02:39.back to the depot. They say you could even the smell the malt in the

:02:40. > :02:43.air. Since it closed over a decade ago it's fallen into disrep`ir. I

:02:44. > :02:48.think it obviously has an interesting history and I do well,

:02:49. > :02:53.that some features will be saved, but if we can regenerate thd area,

:02:54. > :02:58.on the left there will be flat, and if the whole area can be sm`rtened

:02:59. > :03:01.up, that would help enormously. And that's the plan. To transform this

:03:02. > :03:04.derelict site into one of Jdrsey's largest supermarkets. It'll mean

:03:05. > :03:07.losing this car and it'll bring extra traffic. In its place, four

:03:08. > :03:14.levels of multistorey superlarket parking. Something the archhtect

:03:15. > :03:17.admits is a worry. I think traffic is always a concern than thd good

:03:18. > :03:21.thing about this site is historically it was an act of

:03:22. > :03:26.brewery, lots of lorries and cars moving in and out for delivdries and

:03:27. > :03:31.so on, so it is on the ring road, part of the scheme involves a

:03:32. > :03:35.traffic study and major improvements to the public highway, to f`cilitate

:03:36. > :03:38.the traffic. They'll also bd street improvements like trees and bike

:03:39. > :03:41.racks and some people will live here. The head brewers housd is a

:03:42. > :03:47.listed building. It'll becole six apartments. Some other historic

:03:48. > :03:53.buildings will be demolished. The site has been here as Adam Drury

:03:54. > :03:56.since 1871. The facade was `dded after the Second World War. The

:03:57. > :04:01.planning application's just been submitted and could of course be

:04:02. > :04:04.rejected. `` it has been here as a brewery. But if all goes to plan,

:04:05. > :04:07.work could start here early next year.

:04:08. > :04:11.Planning approval has been given for an artificial pitch to be ptt in at

:04:12. > :04:13.Jersey's Springfield Stadiul. It comes after initial planning

:04:14. > :04:17.permission for the so`called 3G pitch was turned down. It'll be put

:04:18. > :04:22.in in time for the island g`mes next year.

:04:23. > :04:26.Investment in a new ?45 million undersea power cable won't lean

:04:27. > :04:28.bill`payers are hit in the pocket, according to the boss of Gudrnsey

:04:29. > :04:32.Electricity. A new cable between Guernsey and Jersey is expected to

:04:33. > :04:34.be ordered within weeks. It's to give the island's electricity

:04:35. > :04:37.supplies more security and be less reliant on local power generation.

:04:38. > :04:43.Meanwhile, a new cable betwden France and Jersey is currently being

:04:44. > :04:46.laid. Sport now. Guernsey's Heathdr Watson

:04:47. > :04:49.says she's hoping to make it through to the second week at Wimblddon

:04:50. > :04:53.Heather is on court tomorrow against Ajla Tomljanovic. The BBC 's Tony

:04:54. > :04:58.Curr is in Wimbledon and sent this report.

:04:59. > :05:02.It's the first day of Wimblddon And a little earlier over on Centre

:05:03. > :05:05.Court, Andy Murray won his dighth match in a row at the Champhonships.

:05:06. > :05:08.Of course, seven of those c`me last year. And the defending men's

:05:09. > :05:13.champion made no mistake ag`inst David Goffin. Great Britain's other

:05:14. > :05:15.number one, who I'm pleased to say it's Guernsey's Heather Watson once

:05:16. > :05:23.again, plays tomorrow. She hs positive mood as she takes on the

:05:24. > :05:27.creation Ajla Tomljanovic. Working with the new coach, it has been

:05:28. > :05:31.going really well, I have already got new titles this year, whnning

:05:32. > :05:35.lots of matches, and I am where I want to be right now. Heathdr could

:05:36. > :05:41.face the ninth seed Angeliqte Kerber in round two. But for now, she is

:05:42. > :05:48.focusing on getting through the first match. My goal is to get to

:05:49. > :05:53.the second week of a Grand Slam and this is my third of four gr`nd slams

:05:54. > :05:58.of the year, though I have to get past that first match first of all,

:05:59. > :06:04.all I am thinking about right now. Heather will be back tomorrow

:06:05. > :06:08.looking for that place in the second round and bettering last ye`r.

:06:09. > :06:10.And we'll aim to bring you the highlights of Heather's match

:06:11. > :06:14.tomorrow evening at 6:30pm. But that's it from me for now. H'll

:06:15. > :06:16.leave you with the weather forecast from David Braine.

:06:17. > :06:19.that's it from me for now. H'll leave you with the At some point,

:06:20. > :06:23.the weather will change and will probably happen towards the end of

:06:24. > :06:29.this week, more cloud on Thtrsday Friday and outbreaks of rain.

:06:30. > :06:34.Tonight is lovely and clear, temperatures probably no lower than

:06:35. > :06:42.14`15 degrees, another warm night and warm start to tomorrow, not much

:06:43. > :06:50.change through the day, plenty of sunshine, somebody's on the north

:06:51. > :06:55.coast. `` some breeze. All dyes on Wimbledon and a fine day. The threat

:06:56. > :07:05.of showers, but moving out of the way tomorrow, and you can sde more

:07:06. > :07:09.details on BBC Sport. The ottlook towards the end of the week, change

:07:10. > :07:16.coming through Thursday and Friday, cooler conditions and also ` lot

:07:17. > :07:20.more cloud, a freshening southeasterly breeze settling in on

:07:21. > :07:29.Thursday, temperatures dropping down to 20 degrees, 18`19 into Friday. A

:07:30. > :07:30.full forecast for the United Kingdom in a second, but did night from

:07:31. > :07:31.others and I leave you with Wednesday. Towards the end of T`e

:07:32. > :07:41.Week, it will be more unsettled Good evening to you. Well, for many

:07:42. > :07:48.of us, another fine day, a nice start to The Week, but not such a

:07:49. > :07:55.great end to Monday because across East Anglia and the south-east we

:07:56. > :07:58.had thunderstorms. Some big downpours, for example, over

:07:59. > :08:02.Cambridgeshire. Most of us missed that and it was a fine end to the

:08:03. > :08:06.day. Let's get on with the forecast. Tomorrow, more warm sunshine. It

:08:07. > :08:08.will be warm over the south of the country. If you live in Scotland, it

:08:09. > :08:10.will feel fresher.
