:00:44. > :00:53.charity workers comes to sed the place that changed his life

:00:54. > :00:57.Nearly a third of Year 5 chhldren in Guernsey are overweight or obese.

:00:58. > :00:59.The States have been monitoring the weight and height

:01:00. > :01:02.of primary school pupils ` and health officials say thd most

:01:12. > :01:22.Making healthy choices ` and knowing why they should.

:01:23. > :01:30.It's important to eat healthily because you need the right `mount of

:01:31. > :01:33.vitamins, proteins. It can keep you fit and keep you going. If xou

:01:34. > :01:36.didn't have a drink, it would be really bad.

:01:37. > :01:43.It's an important message this school tries hard to get across

:01:44. > :01:50.Incomes through PSA Chi lessons science lessons, and we do ` lot

:01:51. > :01:51.about sport. We do a lot about having a balanced diet.

:01:52. > :01:54.But a recent survey across the island shows obesity is a problem.

:01:55. > :01:57.One in five of Year 1 students measured were overweight or obese.

:01:58. > :02:02.Increasing to one in three by Year 5.

:02:03. > :02:11.They are indicating that thhs is a really significant health worry that

:02:12. > :02:16.a population level. It could cause future health problems. The

:02:17. > :02:26.consequences of this are likely to be lifestyle changes. Diet hs a big

:02:27. > :02:34.part of it. This is something we use quite often. We recommend not to use

:02:35. > :02:44.things like sausage rolls, pork pies and pastry. A good sandwich with

:02:45. > :02:49.some vegetables and salad. Water to drink, ditch the crisps, and if they

:02:50. > :02:53.really do want a sweet treat, try to stick to plain biscuits.

:02:54. > :02:55.Whilst some of the unhealthier treats may

:02:56. > :02:57.look tasty, health officials hope today's figures will act

:02:58. > :03:05.as a reminder about why these are perhaps better options.

:03:06. > :03:07.Guernsey's Heather Watson is out of the women's singles at Whmbledon

:03:08. > :03:10.after losing to the number seven player in the

:03:11. > :03:19.Our reporter Matt Sandoz has been watching and is live in SW18 for us.

:03:20. > :03:22.Matt, these two players are leagues apart in terms of world rankings `

:03:23. > :03:27.but it was actually a close match, wasn't it?

:03:28. > :03:35.The stage was set for her to make the headlines today. She was facing

:03:36. > :03:38.one of the toughest challenges of her career so far. Just over a week

:03:39. > :03:41.ago, she won her first match against a top 20 player. Today, the world

:03:42. > :03:44.number seven Angelique Kerbdr stood in her way.

:03:45. > :03:46.Centre Court for the last British hope in the ladies' singles.

:03:47. > :03:56.Today's second round match wasn t going to be an easy one

:03:57. > :04:00.She was facing world number seven Angelique Kerber.

:04:01. > :04:02.And it didn't start off well for Heather Watson.

:04:03. > :04:16.Kerber's experience shone through to take the first set, six two.

:04:17. > :04:19.The crowd showed their support for Heather for the second set.

:04:20. > :04:23.Watson's new aggressive plax came through, fighting for the sdcond set

:04:24. > :04:28.But British hopes soon started fading as Kerber strode ahe`d.

:04:29. > :04:30.Before Heather said her goodbyes, she made the German work

:04:31. > :04:42.So the Wimbledon dream may be over for 2014. But

:04:43. > :04:45.Heather can hold her head hhgh after a strong comeback

:04:46. > :05:01.Huge courage and determinathon from Heather on centre court but she

:05:02. > :05:08.couldn't match her achievemdnts of two years ago of reaching the third

:05:09. > :05:14.round. Her Grand Slam focus will now turn to the US open in August. But

:05:15. > :05:16.before then, she will hope to extend her Wimbledon experience th`t little

:05:17. > :05:23.bit longer. She will hopefully take part in the mixed doubles if the

:05:24. > :05:24.weather holds out tomorrow. Thanks very much. Get somewhere warm

:05:25. > :05:26.and dry soon! More incidents, more fires `nd

:05:27. > :05:29.rescues, but fewer false al`rms Jersey's fire service has rdvealed

:05:32. > :05:50.a rise on 2012. Dashing into a burning building is

:05:51. > :05:54.all part of the job for these full`time firefighters. Tod`y's

:05:55. > :05:59.drill is about getting in and out quickly, something that takds a lot

:06:00. > :06:03.of work to practice. A full firefighter ` it takes four years to

:06:04. > :06:10.qualify. For a part`time firefighter, they really st`rt

:06:11. > :06:16.coming to the peak of their skills after six years. And these skills

:06:17. > :06:23.are in demand. Jerzy's Fire service dealt with nearly 1200 incidents in

:06:24. > :06:34.2013, impaired to 1067 in 2012. The number of house fires incre`sed for

:06:35. > :06:41.the first fire related deaths in 30 years. They're obviously snowstorms

:06:42. > :06:45.and we are heavily route involved in helping people. It was a nice summer

:06:46. > :06:50.so we had poor water rescue incidents, or open land firds. Most

:06:51. > :06:55.of the increases are related to the weather. Now eight retained

:06:56. > :06:59.firefighters will be put through training similar to this to increase

:07:00. > :07:01.the number of staff in the service in a bid to protect us all from

:07:02. > :07:08.danger. A Guernsey man has been sentenced to

:07:09. > :07:10.four and a half years in prison after admitting 18 sexual

:07:11. > :07:13.offences, including the inddcent 46`year`old Sean Edward

:07:14. > :07:16.Dougherty pleaded guilty to the offences which included 17

:07:17. > :07:19.counts of making and possessing Documents requested

:07:28. > :07:30.days to comply, It followed concerns

:07:31. > :07:32.individual private details The Independent Jersey Care Inquiry

:07:33. > :07:36.will begin hearings on the 22nd A man standing trial

:07:37. > :07:47.for the murder of a Guernsex woman in India has been ordered to

:07:48. > :07:49.undergo mental health tests. Dutch national Richard De Whtt is

:07:50. > :07:52.accused of killing Sarah Groves on His trial has been adjourned

:07:53. > :08:05.until the 9th of July. An African pastor has come to

:08:06. > :08:11.Guernsey for the first time to meet some of the people who changed his

:08:12. > :08:15.life. The Tumaini foundation started in Guernsey 11 years ago in response

:08:16. > :08:19.to the aids pandemic in Tanzanian. The money raised has helped

:08:20. > :08:26.thousands of orphans. One of them wanted to see Guernsey for himself.

:08:27. > :08:30.2006 and this is Guernsey charity the Tumaini fund, working whth

:08:31. > :08:34.people in Tanzania. Move forward eight years and this is one of the

:08:35. > :08:38.success stories. After living in the mountain is his whole life, this is

:08:39. > :08:47.the first time Amon has seen the sea. And where better than the

:08:48. > :08:52.beautiful sea here? It is an ICC, very huge. It's beautiful. @mon

:08:53. > :08:58.Jackson was just two years old when he lost his father, so had to grow

:08:59. > :09:02.quickly. In our family, we were seven children, so my mother had

:09:03. > :09:08.very hard work to make sure that we grew. Amon has come to Guernsey to

:09:09. > :09:14.meet the people who helped him. I'm working as a pastor and I'm taking

:09:15. > :09:21.care of hundreds of orphans and widows who are in my parish. And

:09:22. > :09:26.because I have been an orph`n, I know how orphans and widows are

:09:27. > :09:32.living. Tanzania is one of the ten poorest countries in the world and

:09:33. > :09:37.in the northern province whdre Amon is from, 200,000 children h`ve been

:09:38. > :09:42.orphaned by aids alone, which is why Dr Susan Wilson decided to help I

:09:43. > :09:45.walked all afternoon and all I could see was children looking after

:09:46. > :09:50.children, children leading children by bands, looking for food, looking

:09:51. > :09:58.for help. There were no pardnts left. They were starving, they had

:09:59. > :10:02.no home. It was just amazing to have some contact with a family that I

:10:03. > :10:13.had looked after for nine ydars and he's amazing. In 2014, Guernsey sent

:10:14. > :10:17.?370,000 to Tanzania and ard now supporting 25,000 orphans whth the

:10:18. > :10:27.hope that many more will grow up to be as successful as Amon.

:10:28. > :10:30.We hope Amon has enjoyed his time in Guernsey. Certainly had the weather

:10:31. > :10:34.for it. Tell us what more is to come, David.

:10:35. > :10:40.It is quite changeable. I hope there will be some sunshine betwedn the

:10:41. > :10:45.showers. The ground could use a bit of rain. It is pretty parchdd. Some

:10:46. > :10:49.early showers tomorrow mornhng, then turning brighter. We should see

:10:50. > :10:53.sunshine through the afternoon. The main area of rain is moving up

:10:54. > :10:56.across Britain and central parts of England at the moment. Therd are

:10:57. > :11:01.clutches of showers, one of which may arise tomorrow morning `round

:11:02. > :11:05.the area of low pressure whhch takes charge of our weather pattern as we

:11:06. > :11:09.move into the middle of the day Through Saturday and Sunday, it

:11:10. > :11:14.moves away and that starts `n improvement so hopefully by Sunday

:11:15. > :11:18.it is largely fine and dry. The risk of showers continues for thd next

:11:19. > :11:22.few days. Some around overnhght fairly fleeting and light, but

:11:23. > :11:26.perhaps towards dawn, anothdr line of showers creeping up towards the

:11:27. > :11:31.south`west. That will give showers tomorrow morning. 13 degrees is the

:11:32. > :11:34.minimum temperature. For thd first few daylight hours, there could be

:11:35. > :11:38.some angry showers around and the risk of some thunder but into the

:11:39. > :11:41.afternoon, mostly dry. Eight few showers may turn up late in the day

:11:42. > :11:46.but there are not many of those under top temperature of 17 or 8

:11:47. > :11:55.tomorrow. Much fresher and luch cooler, though. The coastal waters

:11:56. > :12:07.forecast is on screen. Here are the times of high water. For our

:12:08. > :12:12.surfers, the Surf picks up over the next few days. We hope to sde a bit

:12:13. > :12:19.more of a wave developed on the north coast. This is the outlook,

:12:20. > :12:23.which looks quite promising. We may see showers on both Friday `nd

:12:24. > :12:29.Saturday. Some could be heavy again on Saturday. But Sunday into Monday,

:12:30. > :12:43.largely fine and dry. The bdst day of the weekend will be Sund`y.

:12:44. > :12:46.And finally, it's exactly a year until the 2015 Jersex Island

:12:47. > :12:48.officially opens. To mark the countdown, the mascot chosen to

:12:49. > :12:51.To mark the countdown, the lascot chosen to represent Jersey was

:12:52. > :12:53.baby Silverback gorilla. Indigo Toy versions will be given to mddal

:12:54. > :12:54.It's Durrell's baby Silverb`ck gorilla.

:12:55. > :12:58.Toy versions will be given to medal winners and sold to raise money

:12:59. > :13:01.It's the first time in history a named living animal has

:13:02. > :13:12.He's rambunctious and the epitome of an aspiring athlete. That's all from

:13:13. > :13:21.us here in the Channel Islands. by an armoured vehicle in

:13:22. > :13:24.Afghanistan driven by a colleague Nick and Tracey Griffiths,

:13:25. > :13:29.who live in Exmouth, say a fresh investigation is needed so those

:13:30. > :13:50.responsible for the death of their He was crushed under a seven tonne

:13:51. > :13:53.colleague who had no training. Not colleague who had no training. Not

:13:54. > :13:57.even a driving licence. For two days his parents have listened intently

:13:58. > :14:02.to an inquest as his colleagues described the moments leading up to

:14:03. > :14:07.his death. For years and thdy still want answers. In light of what we

:14:08. > :14:14.have heard we call upon the RAAF to reopen the investigation into what

:14:15. > :14:23.happens to our son so that those who may have been responsible are

:14:24. > :14:33.properly held to account. Hd grew up in Southampton after moving. Then he

:14:34. > :14:38.came to camp bastion. He was part of a vehicle patrol looking for a

:14:39. > :14:44.backpack containing night`vhsion goggles and grenade rounds. The fear

:14:45. > :14:51.was the enemy could use these. A vehicle like this was being driven

:14:52. > :14:56.by a corporal. It stopped, two men got underneath to check it, the

:14:57. > :15:02.engine was turned off, and loments later it rolled backwards and over

:15:03. > :15:07.the man, crushing him. The vehicle had been left in drive when it

:15:08. > :15:12.should have been in neutral. The inquest said he had driven ht four

:15:13. > :15:21.or five times before even though he only held a provisional licdnce We

:15:22. > :15:25.have learned a number of fahlures relating to when our son was out on

:15:26. > :15:31.patrol. The vehicle was being driven by officers who were not able to do

:15:32. > :15:38.so. The vehicle was not being driven correctly with the handbrakd on The

:15:39. > :15:46.RAAF says it has made lessons `` learns lessons. We will see that

:16:04. > :16:06.by emergency services in Cornwall is being featured

:16:07. > :16:09.in a film to promote sea safety Two French fishing boats have been

:16:10. > :16:12.wrecked off the Cornish coast Both crews survived

:16:13. > :16:15.because they were wearing a French Emanuel Audrain is using those

:16:16. > :16:19.incidents in his film to persuade mord fishing

:16:34. > :16:39.board got in trouble in app`lling weather off the coast in January.

:16:40. > :16:44.Conditions were so bad that the helicopter could not pick them up

:16:45. > :16:50.from the deck. Instead they had to be job `` had to jump into the sea.

:16:51. > :16:58.Immersion in the cold water would have meant certain death without

:16:59. > :17:04.their French design dry suit. They were all wearing pants were all

:17:05. > :17:13.saved by this suit. If they were only wearing life jackets they would

:17:14. > :17:20.have died through hypothermha. This suit is designed so that thdy were

:17:21. > :17:27.warm and in fact waterproof. The suits were designed by the ship boss

:17:28. > :17:42.Mac commander in the 1970s. The film`maker has revisited thhs. I

:17:43. > :17:52.have been impressed by the puality of the rescue service. The boat

:17:53. > :18:00.eventually washed up. Europdan rules say that all vessels must c`rry dry

:18:01. > :18:05.suits. It is hoped that the film will encourage this.

:18:06. > :18:07.Some sports news and Torquax United's long`serving captahn

:18:08. > :18:11.The 31`year`old midfield pl`yer has been with United for eight xears,

:18:12. > :18:15.He's now joining Bristol Rovers who were relegated to non`ldague

:18:16. > :18:23.Art takes many forms and so if the subject so happens to be

:18:24. > :18:26.a famous face or two from the world of sport, how would

:18:27. > :18:31.Forget oil, acrylic, watercolour, Andrea Ormsby looks at Andy Murray,

:18:32. > :18:38.Jessica Ennis and Lewis Hamhlton as you may never have seen thel before.

:18:39. > :18:47.Andy is done but Jessica is still a work in progress.

:18:48. > :18:50.Can you see that just loosens the petals, and then when you push

:18:51. > :18:54.it in tight they all still sit the way you want them to sit.

:18:55. > :18:57.An unusual commission for the Academy of Floral Art

:19:16. > :19:18.underneath to give the depth in the colour of hair.

:19:19. > :19:21.So we've got the lovely colour in the sycamore leaves,

:19:22. > :19:24.and also the nuts to give the depth of colour in the eyebrows.

:19:25. > :19:30.It might be unusual but there is plenty for the students to learn.

:19:31. > :19:39.Patience, the way the picture is transformed from the picturd here

:19:40. > :19:44.onto the board, working with it flat, working on an easel, which is

:19:45. > :19:47.something that I never really imagined he would use of Floristry.

:20:00. > :20:01.The portraits won't last long as they are,

:20:02. > :20:06.but dried flowers will soon replace the fresh, and who knows, Andy,

:20:07. > :20:10.Jessica and Lewis might just be in the market for another bit of art.

:21:16. > :21:29.that the weather is set stalled at the moment. `` settles. Somd

:21:30. > :21:35.clouds, some could be thunddry. One line of showery rain went through

:21:36. > :21:39.earlier today. There are ardas of rain in the Atlantic and sole might

:21:40. > :21:45.be headed our way so there lay be a prolonged downpour of rain. We have

:21:46. > :21:50.lost high pressure. We have high pressure as we head towards the

:21:55. > :21:58.away from us as we head through Saturday and into Sunday and

:21:59. > :22:02.Monday. However, some showers tomorrow and also on Saturd`y that

:22:03. > :22:10.could be quite lively. We do have a warning about that, and even the

:22:11. > :22:13.risk of thunder and hail. That was the line of more persistent rain

:22:14. > :22:23.that we saw earlier today. Ht has now cleared. This was this

:22:24. > :22:32.afternoon, where our cameralan caught on one side of a rivdr some

:22:33. > :22:38.blue sky but nasty clouds on the other. Sometimes we will get blue

:22:39. > :22:44.sky, but sometimes we will get some heavy downpours of rain. For all of

:22:45. > :22:50.us, including the wildlife, he settled weather is now at an end.

:22:51. > :22:53.Let's look at the forecast for overnight tonight. Showers will fade

:22:54. > :22:57.away for a time and then return again in the small hours. Not

:22:58. > :23:03.particularly heavy, but showers none the less. Tomorrow morning they head

:23:04. > :23:07.towards Cornwall, with tempdratures no more than ten or 11 degrdes.

:23:08. > :23:13.Tomorrow we are expecting those showers to be on and off all day.

:23:14. > :23:21.One village will get a downpour while the next stays dry and sees

:23:22. > :23:26.the sunshine. Temperatures 06 or 17 in the showers, 18 or 19 if we get

:23:27. > :23:40.sunshine. A few showers possible for the Isles of Scilly. Tides `nd waves

:23:41. > :23:52.are not used for servers. A bit choppy along the north coast of

:23:53. > :23:56.Cornwall and Devon. It gets drier as we move through the weekend. Sunday

:23:57. > :23:59.will be quite a nice day, a little on the cool side though. Have a good

:24:00. > :24:10.evening, back to you. Thank you for joining us at a
