:00:24. > :00:26.over the vehicle in the moments before the crash.
:00:27. > :00:33.The court heard how the accident happened in May this year.
:00:34. > :00:37.PC Jenkinson was coming to the end of the first in a set of
:00:38. > :00:40.night shifts and was carrying out routine patrols in his police car.
:00:41. > :00:43.But just after 5am, he crashed in St Clements Road in St Helier.
:00:44. > :00:46.The court heard he couldn't fully remember what happened ` his car hit
:00:47. > :00:49.a kerb, and then a lamp post, before rolling onto its roof.
:00:50. > :00:51.He managed to crawl out and call for help.
:00:52. > :00:55.But the investigation into what happened was thorough ` the car was
:00:56. > :00:57.fitted with an instrument recording device and could accurately show how

:01:10. > :01:12.For 250 metres, he didn't steer, accelerate or brake.
:01:13. > :01:14.The conclusion was he had a micro sleep ` a momentary lapse
:01:15. > :01:21.PC Jenkinson admitted driving without due care and attention
:01:22. > :01:27.He has continued working as a police officer driving a patrol car but may
:01:28. > :01:33.Meanwhile the court was told the Police Association will be
:01:34. > :01:35.discussing the single`crewing of patrol vehicles with the Jersey
:01:36. > :01:48.Guernsey's Health and Social Services Department says falling
:01:49. > :01:52.demand is the reason why its decided to close the hydrotherapy pool
:01:53. > :01:59.It is being shut less than five years after it was built in a bid
:02:00. > :02:06.Airline Blue Islands is increasing the number
:02:07. > :02:09.of its flights to four a day between Guernsey and Southampton.
:02:10. > :02:14.It is claimed there'll be an extra 40,000 seats a year on the service.
:02:15. > :02:19.Flybe also operate between Guernsey and Southampton.
:02:20. > :02:22.In less than 50 days, Jersey will be having its first ever island`wide
:02:23. > :02:25.election of all its States members for the next three years.
:02:26. > :02:28.Some candidates have already declared their interest, but with
:02:29. > :02:32.less than three weeks to go until nominations close, how many more
:02:33. > :02:41.On the 15th October, for the first time ever, Jersey will be electing
:02:42. > :02:49.Senators, Deputies and Constables will be vying for your vote.
:02:50. > :02:52.Some current politicians like Deputy Kevin Lewis have already
:02:53. > :02:56.declared their interest in keeping their seat.
:02:57. > :02:58.So what is it about politics that makes them want
:02:59. > :03:18.It's making a difference, being it perish wide or island`wide. Is it a
:03:19. > :03:19.rewarding job? Very much so. Everybody coming, we have got the
:03:20. > :03:23.BBC filming! And it seems broadcasters are also
:03:24. > :03:26.being drawn to the political flame. Former DJ Peter Mac hung up
:03:27. > :03:28.his headphones last year and has put himself forward
:03:29. > :03:41.for Deputy, as well as DJ I have seen some fantastic
:03:42. > :03:45.politicians from the world of broadcasting and also from
:03:46. > :03:48.hospitality and I think it is a communication thing. I think that
:03:49. > :03:50.you can put your point across clearly and possibly, that is the

:03:58. > :03:59.Senator and is a member of Reform Jersey, the only political party
:04:00. > :04:11.entering this year's election. I think being part of a party gives
:04:12. > :04:15.you a support group for moral and practical support. The idea of
:04:16. > :04:19.putting up posters and constructing leaflets is something I will need to
:04:20. > :04:23.take advice on. I also think women are needed in the States because my
:04:24. > :04:34.style is conciliatory rather than confrontational. In seven weeks
:04:35. > :04:36.time, the voting will be over and people will have decided who they
:04:37. > :04:42.want to vote for them. Earlier,
:04:43. > :04:43.I asked St Helier's electoral officer ` Eric Blakeley ` how long

:04:58. > :05:00.night for senators. The following night is for constables and
:05:01. > :05:05.deputies. That takes face in parishes. So we should note who is
:05:06. > :05:10.standing. Then they put forward their manifestoes and hustings can
:05:11. > :05:15.be organised. Where will we see those manifestoes?
:05:16. > :05:20.A special book is being printed up. There is a special website where the
:05:21. > :05:26.manifestoes are being uploaded and people can collect them as
:05:27. > :05:30.hustings. Traditionally, voter turnout in Jersey is low, what do we
:05:31. > :05:35.need to do if we want to register to vote? If any body wants to
:05:36. > :05:39.register, they have about three weeks left. You go along to your
:05:40. > :05:43.parish hall if you have not already returned a form. Fill out your names
:05:44. > :05:49.and details and you should be put on the list. Elections are on the 15th
:05:50. > :05:54.of October. If I am out of the island, can I vote? Yes, it depends
:05:55. > :05:56.what perish you are in, and when you want about, but there are details on
:05:57. > :05:59.the website. Guernsey squash player Chris Simpson
:06:00. > :06:02.has been knocked out of the Hong Kong Squash Open
:06:03. > :06:04.in the second round. He lost 11/3, 11/1,
:06:05. > :06:07.11/7 to Mohamed Elshorbagy of Egypt That is the news. Here is the full
:06:08. > :06:34.cost. That shares the forecast. Better weather coming, but shall
:06:35. > :06:39.still around at the moment. If you isolated showers and getting more
:06:40. > :06:43.cloudy. 12`macro showers around at the moment, particularly affecting
:06:44. > :06:49.jersey. They will tend to clear. We will also see the south`westerly
:06:50. > :06:58.breeze which will halt averages up overnight. `` which will hold
:06:59. > :07:07.temperatures up overnight. The cloud could be thick enough to introduce
:07:08. > :07:10.isolated showers. Temperatures up to 80 or 90 degrees tomorrow. It will
:07:11. > :07:15.become cloudy into the evening with the risk of a few showers. On
:07:16. > :07:20.Saturday, we still have the south`westerly breeze and it should
:07:21. > :07:25.mainly be dry. A few showers and variable amounts of cloud. The
:07:26. > :07:29.breeze eases off on Sunday. Also a mainly dry day with some bright
:07:30. > :07:33.spells. I believe you with the summary. That I will leave you with
:07:34. > :07:45.the summary. Hello! We had a touch of autumn in
:07:46. > :07:50.August, now we are hoping for a bit of summer in September, both as a
