:00:31. > :00:34.The summer holidays have come to an end for these children, so now

:00:35. > :00:41.A school jumper at ?13.50 doesn't sounds that much.

:00:42. > :00:45.But add a pair of trousers to that, a couple of shirts and a PE kit

:00:46. > :00:54.And for some families in Jersey, it's a struggle to afford.

:00:55. > :00:56.The Variety Club run a voucher system with shops to help

:00:57. > :01:00.This year they've had more requests for support costing thousand

:01:01. > :01:27.Just under 30,000 for this year. It will soon be approaching 40. It is

:01:28. > :01:28.an increase on last year. We fund raise all year round and we have to

:01:29. > :01:30.work harder and harder. This money has helped nearly 90

:01:31. > :01:34.families with every day essentials like food and clothes,

:01:35. > :01:47.including school uniform. It is busier at this time of year

:01:48. > :01:49.and we have had up to 40 people with vouchers. For the rest of the year,

:01:50. > :01:53.five a month. Chris owns a uniform shop

:01:54. > :01:55.and with uniforms costing between 50 and ?100, parents are

:01:56. > :02:06.pleased there is support on offer. The kids are just starting and they

:02:07. > :02:10.have to get everything here. It is good if you have flexibility and it

:02:11. > :02:15.doesn't have to be expensive and you can have a cheaper option.

:02:16. > :02:18.So while wearing school uniforms may make children look equal, hopefully

:02:19. > :02:22.the financial support will help even out the costs for families too.

:02:23. > :02:23.Jersey's Hospice will be able to care

:02:24. > :02:26.for islanders with any life`ending illness in future, expanding

:02:27. > :02:29.its services from only dealing with Motor Neurone Disease and cancers.

:02:30. > :02:33.The health department is giving the organisation more than ?800,000

:02:34. > :02:37.this year, and more next year, to pay towards the work.

:02:38. > :02:40.The money will be used to give care to people at the Hospice,

:02:41. > :02:49.at the hospital, and even in their own homes.

:02:50. > :03:00.At this difficult stage of anyone's life, having the right care, support

:03:01. > :03:06.not only for the family but for the patient, to make sure it is pain

:03:07. > :03:12.controlled, it is where they wish to be. With that working well with

:03:13. > :03:17.Jersey Hospice care, the most important thing is all patients,

:03:18. > :03:19.whatever their condition, when they get to that difficult spade ``

:05:06. > :05:08.grounds of race or nationality. But while there aren't plans

:05:09. > :05:11.in Guernsey for a race law, the Chief Minister says it's not

:05:12. > :05:21.being ignored. It is part of the social ecology

:05:22. > :05:24.groups work stream but we have decided that disability and

:05:25. > :05:29.inclusion which affect a large amount of people in Guernsey is more

:05:30. > :05:31.important at this moment. We are concentrating on that.
