:00:52. > :00:55.At least two drivers are disqualified from driving.
:00:56. > :00:57.One person offering lifts h`s been detained
:00:58. > :01:01.Another male is known to befriend young vulnerable females.
:01:02. > :01:04.Women as young as 17 or 18 `re offering lifts to strangers.
:01:05. > :01:10.And drivers are trying to strike up social meetings after lifts.
:01:11. > :01:13.There is an element of apathy in terms of this being young pdople
:01:14. > :01:16.offering lifts for petrol money but this is different, this is `bout
:01:17. > :01:18.strangers accepting lifts and placing themselves in danger. It is
:01:19. > :01:21.not to shock the public but hopefully get them to listen to what
:01:22. > :01:33.we are saying, this is an unsafe occupation to be engaging whth.
:01:34. > :01:36.One of the drivers we spoke to said they can't get a job
:01:37. > :01:40.because they have a criminal record ` so this is a way of making money.
:01:41. > :01:43.But what drivers may not re`lise is that they are not covered
:01:44. > :01:49.Your insurance company could void your policy in the event of an
:01:50. > :01:52.accident because you are making money if you are delivering
:01:53. > :01:54.passengers, this is something which is not always covered by a policy,
:01:55. > :01:58.so you could be opening yourself to being uninsured in the event of an
:01:59. > :02:09.Jersey Police say anyone catght offering illegal taxi services could
:02:10. > :02:10.be prosecuted ` and hope those wanting
:02:11. > :02:21.a cheap lift will listen to their advice before getting into the car.
