:00:00. > :00:26.Prayers have been said today for Father Joseph`Williams, a priest

:00:27. > :00:29.from Luton who was found dead in a supermarket car park. The body of

:00:30. > :00:36.the 42`year`old, believed to have been there for three days, was found

:00:37. > :00:42.slumped over the steering wheel. Prayers were said today for a much

:00:43. > :00:49.loved parish priest. Father Joe Williams was just 42. This weekend,

:00:50. > :00:54.he's simply disappeared. He was seen looking up the church on CCTV

:00:55. > :00:59.cameras. He had not returned for confession on Saturday. It was sad

:01:00. > :01:05.for his mother and the family and very sad for the parish. It is

:01:06. > :01:09.really sad for the whole diocese. It seems the priest died in the car

:01:10. > :01:14.park of this Morrisons store on Friday night. The church had

:01:15. > :01:18.reported him missing. It was not until Monday evening that somebody

:01:19. > :01:24.spotted him slumped over the wheel of his car and called the ambulance.

:01:25. > :01:30.He had been dead for some time. We do tend to look at people if they

:01:31. > :01:36.are asleep in a car, we do not take any heed. As Christians, we should

:01:37. > :01:40.make sure people are OK. When I came on Saturday, I thought it was

:01:41. > :01:47.strange he was not around. He could have gone to friends or whatever.

:01:48. > :01:50.Just devastation. It is believed he died from natural causes. A police

:01:51. > :02:05.report is being prepared into his death. A woman in her 30s died in

:02:06. > :02:08.one of two accidents in Surrey. The incident happened between the

:02:09. > :02:10.junctions for Chertsey and the A3. Another crash then closed the road

:02:11. > :02:13.again. Thousands braved the torrential rain earlier today for

:02:14. > :02:17.the annual New Year's Day Parade. The theme this year was the swinging

:02:18. > :02:19.'60s and crowds watched on as 17 marching bands and 1,500

:02:20. > :02:23.cheerleaders took to the 2.2 mile route. Sarah Harris joined the

:02:24. > :02:36.parade in Central London. South London carnival costumes with

:02:37. > :02:42.thermals underneath. It was the new year's parade to wrap up warm as

:02:43. > :02:46.there was not much chance of staying dry. Tony from Surrey has been

:02:47. > :02:53.coming to cheer as long as he can remember and certainly was not going

:02:54. > :02:58.to be put off by torrential rain. To encourage everyone. It is a nice

:02:59. > :03:03.atmosphere. All the visitors who have come to London, there is a nice

:03:04. > :03:09.Japanese man. He was a student here 15 years ago. He has now brought his

:03:10. > :03:17.kids to see the parade. Isn't that lovely! 50,000 people from overseas

:03:18. > :03:20.took part, including this New Orleans Jazz band. Dozens of

:03:21. > :03:26.volunteers gave up their bank holiday to help organise the event.

:03:27. > :03:31.Many had done the same at the 2012 Olympics. I did not really know what

:03:32. > :03:36.would be involved. Everybody got into the atmosphere of it. I got

:03:37. > :03:42.soaked with the Olympics and I might as well get soaked here as well.

:03:43. > :03:49.Roads were closed between Piccadilly and Parliament Square. It is an icon

:03:50. > :03:54.of the 1960s. This year is the 50th anniversary since Paddy Hocker won

:03:55. > :04:00.the Monte Carlo Rally. It is about coming here and having some fun.

:04:01. > :04:06.This is the Westminster Council float. It is one of 18 London

:04:07. > :04:11.boroughs taking part. All competing for a ?50,000 charity cash prize.

:04:12. > :04:17.They are throwing sweets at the crowds. It seems to be working. More

:04:18. > :04:21.than 8000 people took part in the parade, which raised thousands of

:04:22. > :04:22.pounds for charity. A quick look at the weather now with Georgina

:04:23. > :04:32.Burnett. We continue with a breezy night with

:04:33. > :04:36.showers becoming more scattered in the early hours of the morning. A

:04:37. > :04:41.yellow weather warning still in place until midnight. You do need to

:04:42. > :04:45.be wary that there is the potential for further flooding. Tomorrow, a

:04:46. > :04:50.much better picture. Some sunshine around. Showers could be heavy at

:04:51. > :04:55.times. Much drier than it has been with temperatures reaching nine, 10

:04:56. > :04:58.Celsius. The winds strengthened in the evening making way That's it

:04:59. > :05:00.from BBC London for News. For an unsettled weekend. I'll be back

:05:01. > :05:19.after 10:30pm tonight. Hello. It is a New Year but it is

:05:20. > :05:27.the same old weather. Flood warnings are on the rise. The flood line

:05:28. > :05:32.number is on screen if you are at all concerned. Still some rain to

:05:33. > :05:36.come this evening and overnight. Still some heavy bursts. It will

:05:37. > :05:43.push the way towards the east taking the strongest winds with it. It did

:05:44. > :05:48.in temperature across the Highlands. Temperatures are holding up fairly

:05:49. > :05:55.well. Tomorrow, I can offer you a glimpse of brightness. Quite it

:05:56. > :06:02.isn't over getting out and about. Many places staying dry. -- quite a

:06:03. > :06:08.decent day for getting out and about. There will be some long, dry

:06:09. > :06:10.spells and a decent amount of sunshine as
