:00:00. > :00:20.Good evening. As we have been hearing, there's growing concern

:00:21. > :00:24.among communities along the River Thames and parts of Berkshire and

:00:25. > :00:31.Surrey where 14 severe flood warnings are in place. The warning

:00:32. > :00:34.mean there is a danger of life are between Datchet and Shepperton

:00:35. > :00:40.Green. This was by the Thames in Walton

:00:41. > :00:45.this afternoon. Residents here say the river levels have risen quickly.

:00:46. > :00:49.The last few days has come up a couple of feet every night. We are

:00:50. > :00:52.worried about overnight tonight They are trying to protect homes

:00:53. > :00:56.here, hoping still they won't have to leave.

:00:57. > :01:01.Are you staying put? We are staying put, yes.

:01:02. > :01:06.We will be with our homes and houses. Isn't it dangerous? Not at

:01:07. > :01:10.the moment. What people here are hoping of course is that the river

:01:11. > :01:18.will soon stop rising. But at the moment, the signs are not good.

:01:19. > :01:23.There's now no denying the Thames is presenting new dangers and flooding

:01:24. > :01:29.new areas. This was a street in Thames Ditton.

:01:30. > :01:34.The water came up quickly and just as suddenly sandbags were in demand.

:01:35. > :01:38.I got a phone call from a friend who said, somebody is stealing your

:01:39. > :01:42.sandbags. It turned out they thought the council had put them there to be

:01:43. > :01:46.taken. I put notes on them ` do not remove. Residents saw the levels

:01:47. > :01:52.continue to rise. But it could have been worse.

:01:53. > :01:56.Because with such a swollen river high tides can reach this far up

:01:57. > :02:02.stream and today, the Thames barrier was closing to stop that.

:02:03. > :02:07.The Thames barrier is critical to protecting the areas up`stream. We

:02:08. > :02:11.will use it as much as we can. At Thames Ditton island, many locals

:02:12. > :02:16.say they will not be leaving, even if the water gets deeper. We will

:02:17. > :02:22.stay put. We were here 2003. We will stay put this time. The Environment

:02:23. > :02:27.Agency has issued a series of severe flood warnings ` the highest level,

:02:28. > :02:32.focussing on seven locations from Datchet in the north, to Shepperton

:02:33. > :02:38.in the south. The river's level is rising and the floods are spreading.

:02:39. > :02:44.Talks aimed at averting another 48`hour Tube strike will resume

:02:45. > :02:49.tomorrow. The unions and London Underground will be at the

:02:50. > :02:54.conciliation service, ACAS, to try and resolve the dispute over plans

:02:55. > :02:59.to close all ticket offices. I am sorry about your inconvenience this

:03:00. > :03:03.morning. We have to get through it. Misery for commune muters earlier

:03:04. > :03:09.this week could be `` commuters earlier this week could be repeated

:03:10. > :03:12.if they cannot come to an agreement. TFL plans to scrap the ticket

:03:13. > :03:18.offices. The unions say that would not only put workers out of a job,

:03:19. > :03:23.but put passengers at risk too. Do not just sit behind and sell

:03:24. > :03:27.tickets. They play a vital role If it is to be open on a Friday and

:03:28. > :03:31.Saturday night, and more and more people using the Tube throughout the

:03:32. > :03:35.night, surely the wrong thing is to get rid of these people. A fact

:03:36. > :03:39.disputed by the head of London Underground. It said thanks to the

:03:40. > :03:45.Oyster card less than 3% of Tube journeys involve a trip to the

:03:46. > :03:49.ticket office. That leaves 100, 00 journeys every day which do. The

:03:50. > :03:54.mayor has come under pressure for not doing more to prevent this

:03:55. > :03:57.week's strike action. It is a very important point that you should

:03:58. > :04:04.leave management to get on and manage. You have got to leave it to

:04:05. > :04:11.your people to TFL. Talks take place tomorrow. If they break down, the

:04:12. > :04:13.strike will start on Tuesday night. Now the weather.

:04:14. > :04:20.Good evening. I am afraid there s more rain in the forecast, as you

:04:21. > :04:23.have probably heard. The Environment Agency have a significant number of

:04:24. > :04:29.flood warnings in place. There is the number to call. You can go to

:04:30. > :04:34.the website. Tonight, occasional showers. Winds easing. Temperatures

:04:35. > :04:37.down to four or five Celsius. We have showery outbreaks of rain

:04:38. > :04:43.tomorrow morning. Looking better by the afternoon. Six to seven Celsius

:04:44. > :04:47.and less wind tomorrow as well. The Met Office have a yellow warning for

:04:48. > :04:51.rain for London and the Home Counties it is looking like a wet

:04:52. > :04:55.and windy week ahead again. We'll have all the latest tomorrow

:04:56. > :05:06.morning in Breakfast. From everyone here, good night.

:05:07. > :05:12.Good evening. A little welcome news in this forecast, unfortunately As

:05:13. > :05:18.we have seen today the number of severe flood warnings has risen

:05:19. > :05:23.dramatically. We are fearful with more rain and

:05:24. > :05:30.gales forecast for the week ahead that will compound the problems

:05:31. > :05:35.With coer, air there is a risk of snow and ice. As well as that, we

:05:36. > :05:40.could see a smattering of snow. In southern and eastern England some

:05:41. > :05:43.rain on and off. Snow potentially across Dorset, the cots wolds. The

:05:44. > :05:45.temperatures
