:00:00. > :00:00.an hour or so around the Irish Sea coast but with the wind, I

:00:00. > :00:19.. Good evening, welcome to the

:00:20. > :00:22.programme. A couple have become the first to marry at a Church of

:00:23. > :00:27.Scientology Chapel in England after winning a legal challenge at the

:00:28. > :00:30.Supreme Court. Louisa Hodkin and Alessandro Calcioli fought the case

:00:31. > :00:34.because officials refused to recognise their church in

:00:35. > :00:36.Blackfriars as a place for marriage. As Marc Ashdown reports, this could

:00:37. > :00:46.have far reaching implications for Scientology and for other religions.

:00:47. > :00:51.A few small steps for this couple, but potentially a giant leap for

:00:52. > :00:55.Scientology. Their long and legally fraught journey down the aisle could

:00:56. > :00:59.be the first of many. Just ecstatic, a little bit speechless. So, so

:01:00. > :01:03.happy that this day has finally come. They were refused a licence to

:01:04. > :01:08.get married at the Scientology Chapel in London, a High Court

:01:09. > :01:15.ruling from 1977 services here were not acts of worship. In September,

:01:16. > :01:18.that was overturned. Here is why. We do not accept that a religion

:01:19. > :01:25.necessarily involves belief in a supreme deity. So, God may not have

:01:26. > :01:29.been invited but, in the eyes of their Leafs, and, crucially, UK law,

:01:30. > :01:34.they are now married. This is about much more than one couple's happy

:01:35. > :01:37.day. The church funded their legal challenge with high`powered lawyers.

:01:38. > :01:41.They are all too aware of the potential rewards of being

:01:42. > :01:45.recognised as a religion. Religious charities enjoy 80% relief on

:01:46. > :01:50.business rates and tax breaks on donations. I think this is the thin

:01:51. > :01:54.edge of the wedge. The next stage is to convince the Charity commission

:01:55. > :02:00.that they are not just a religion, but a religion that has a public

:02:01. > :02:06.utility. The next stage will be asking for equal time on thought for

:02:07. > :02:11.the day and the Today Programme, or taking part in interfaith services

:02:12. > :02:17.on public occasions. That will sit comfortable with those that regarded

:02:18. > :02:21.as a brainwashing cult, with roots in science fiction. Celebrity

:02:22. > :02:24.backers may grab the headlines, but this young couple may prove just as

:02:25. > :02:27.important. Three men who were questioned by

:02:28. > :02:30.police over a drive`by shooting on Waterloo Bridge have been released

:02:31. > :02:34.on bail. The 22`year`old victim was in a car when he was shot on Friday

:02:35. > :02:37.night, it's thought by a gunman on a motorbike. He was treated for head

:02:38. > :02:42.injuries and left hospital yesterday. Detectives say they want

:02:43. > :02:45.to speak to witnesses who saw the shooting or the motorbike fleeing

:02:46. > :02:47.the scene. Seven people have been arrested

:02:48. > :02:52.after a stabbing in central London this morning. An injured man was

:02:53. > :02:59.found by police at about 5:30 on Regent Street. He's believed to be

:03:00. > :03:02.in a stable condition in hospital. Teenage girls at risk of getting

:03:03. > :03:05.involved with gangs in north London are being taught about making better

:03:06. > :03:10.choices in life through helping run a business. A nail salon's been set

:03:11. > :03:14.up for them on a housing estate in High Barnet where they're being

:03:15. > :03:15.offered training and support. Emilia Papadopoulos has more Let's get the

:03:16. > :03:30.weather now with Elizabeth Rizzini. There is not much for teenagers to

:03:31. > :03:35.do. It is not the average nail salon, it is run by teenagers and

:03:36. > :03:40.you don't pay a penny. It was set up by the charity Out Against Knives,

:03:41. > :03:44.to help girls caught up in crime by teaching them new skills. For

:03:45. > :03:48.18`year`old Katie, it has made a big difference. I do feel bad,

:03:49. > :03:56.sometimes. I'm still rowdy, but not as rowdy. Do you think this place

:03:57. > :04:00.has helped a little bit? Yes. They talk to you. I come here and they

:04:01. > :04:07.tell me about stuff and give me advice. Tucked away behind the rows

:04:08. > :04:11.of grey flats on the estate, the salon provides a warm and safe

:04:12. > :04:15.haven. It might that they have a family member in prison or they have

:04:16. > :04:17.seen something in air environment that has affected them directly. I

:04:18. > :04:21.think it is about looking and supporting those young girls, having

:04:22. > :04:24.to reduce those risks that have improved to lead to their

:04:25. > :04:28.involvement in violent crime or even as victims of violent crime. It's

:04:29. > :04:32.not hard to see why many teenagers are susceptible to a life of crime.

:04:33. > :04:37.The unemployment rate is at its highest for 20 years and, during the

:04:38. > :04:46.2011 London riots, nine of the 12 Barnet residents convicted lived on

:04:47. > :04:50.this estate. 13`year`old Macy is a regular here and often provide the

:04:51. > :04:54.entertainment. At school I nearly got detention for back chatting a

:04:55. > :04:59.teacher and I didn't want to go to it because of here. The charity

:05:00. > :05:03.knows it will take time to see real changes, but a simple idea like this

:05:04. > :05:13.one is a good place to start. Good evening. It will stay dry

:05:14. > :05:17.overnight. Still quite breezy, with variable amounts of cloud and

:05:18. > :05:22.temperatures dropping to a fairly mild seven or eight Celsius. For

:05:23. > :05:25.tomorrow morning's rush`hour, dry. It will stay dry for most of the

:05:26. > :05:27.rest of the day with brightness around during the morning. Plugging

:05:28. > :05:32.other as we head into the late afternoon, wind easing down through

:05:33. > :05:35.the day. Through the rush`hour, we could expect to see outbreaks of

:05:36. > :05:39.rain. That rain to turn a little heavier on Monday night and into

:05:40. > :05:43.Tuesday, then Tuesday is going to be quite a showery day with the risk of

:05:44. > :05:46.some showers turning heavy or even thundery at times. Temperatures

:05:47. > :05:49.remaining mild through the course of the next week. It's going to be

:05:50. > :05:51.quite unsettled, showery and windy at times, but also some brighter

:05:52. > :05:57.spells. That's it for now. I'll be back just

:05:58. > :06:06.after 10:15 tonight. For now, have a very good evening. Goodbye.

:06:07. > :06:12.Hello. Still no sign of the weather really settling down next week.

:06:13. > :06:16.There should be an improvement for most of us tomorrow. It will not be

:06:17. > :06:20.as windy as it has been today, and the band of rain will slowly peter

:06:21. > :06:24.out. We still have some rain to come through the night. This band of rain

:06:25. > :06:26.is quite slow moving, it will wander northwards into Dumfries and

:06:27. > :06:30.Galloway. Close to Northern Ireland, heavy rain in Cumbria and later in

:06:31. > :06:33.the night it will turn whether in Wales and the south-west. Southerly

:06:34. > :06:37.wind, quite strong at the moment, that will ease as the night goes on

:06:38. > :06:42.but it should be pretty mild, six or seven degrees, typically. Tomorrow,

:06:43. > :06:45.we start with heavy rain, especially over the hills, as it slips slowly

:06:46. > :06:49.eastwards so the rain tends to become light and patchy. Buying it,

:06:50. > :06:56.we get some sunshine and maybe a few showers. A good day in Scotland,

:06:57. > :06:58.especially northern Scotland. In Northern Ireland we will see the

:06:59. > :06:59.showers
