:00:00. > :00:18.are. Good night. Good evening and welcome. The Met

:00:19. > :00:21.Police say they're looking into the activities of an extremist cleric

:00:22. > :00:29.who was preaching in the streets of East London last weekend. Anjem

:00:30. > :00:32.Choudary is one of the founders of the banned Islamist organisation

:00:33. > :00:35.Al`Muhajiroun. He was part of a group of radicals calling for Sharia

:00:36. > :00:40.Law in the UK, as Gareth Furby reports. A peaceful afternoon on

:00:41. > :00:45.this road in Dalston, but last weekend, for some people, it got a

:00:46. > :00:52.bit noisy. Embrace Islam today.

:00:53. > :00:57.The group who call themselves Islamic Activists, drove up and down

:00:58. > :01:03.in a van, covered with statements and symbols. A video of this event

:01:04. > :01:07.is on a website, promoting Sharia law.

:01:08. > :01:10.Adam was one of about 30 people taking part.

:01:11. > :01:15.Our message is public. We want Britain to hear that there are

:01:16. > :01:21.Muslims living amongst them, who believe in re`establishing Sharia.

:01:22. > :01:25.Also on the video is the radical preacher, Anjem Choudhury, whose

:01:26. > :01:31.previous Islamist group was banned by the Home Office. The question now

:01:32. > :01:44.is whether the van was carrying a logo used by jihadists in Syria.

:01:45. > :01:49.An im imman `` an imam is peaceful but only used in the right context.

:01:50. > :01:54.They have hi`jacked this message from God, they are using it and

:01:55. > :02:02.abusing it. I think that they are desecrating it. It is like the BNP.

:02:03. > :02:07.They are hi`jacking the British flag, it is like that.

:02:08. > :02:11.It is freedom of speech. Why not? Everyone should have the opportunity

:02:12. > :02:17.to say what they want. Scotland Yard says it is aware that there was an

:02:18. > :02:23.event here and the was material given out.

:02:24. > :02:27.A police inquiry is now under way. Businesses in a North London borough

:02:28. > :02:30.which is bringing in a tax to help pay for late night policing say its

:02:31. > :02:33.unfair and damaging. Islington is the first borough in the capital to

:02:34. > :02:35.introduce a late`night levy on licenced bars and restaurants. The

:02:36. > :02:38.council says the money will go towards dealing with the problems

:02:39. > :02:46.related to a late night economy. Charlotte Franks reports. An evening

:02:47. > :02:54.drink at your local. Something that men of look forward to after a hard

:02:55. > :02:57.day. This bar in Islington relies on the regular customers and reasonable

:02:58. > :03:04.prices but managers say that a council charge to be used to help

:03:05. > :03:08.combat alcohol`fuelled crime is cause for concern.

:03:09. > :03:11.Possibly the prices will go up. We can lose lots of money because of

:03:12. > :03:17.it. A premises that continues to serve

:03:18. > :03:22.alcohol beyond midin tos, selling alcohol, will be charged from ?300

:03:23. > :03:26.to up to ?4,000. Depending on the size and the value of the business,

:03:27. > :03:30.but some of the pubs and the bars say that is unfair as they pay a

:03:31. > :03:34.charge to fund ten police officers to patrol the area at certain times

:03:35. > :03:41.of the day and the night. Over the last year, alcohol related

:03:42. > :03:44.offences in Islington have doped 19%, but despite this, the council

:03:45. > :03:48.still feel it is necessary to introduce the levy.

:03:49. > :03:54.We have a late night economy. It is close to a lot of residents. They

:03:55. > :03:59.are concerned about the level s crime and .

:04:00. > :04:03.Islington is not the first to introduce the levy. Schemes have

:04:04. > :04:09.been adopted in Newcastle and Cheltenham as they try to police the

:04:10. > :04:15.night`time economy under increasing budget pressures. Despite the

:04:16. > :04:18.concerns from the licensees in Islington, the council says that the

:04:19. > :04:23.charges should not impact on businesses too much. But that has

:04:24. > :04:27.not helped relieve the concerns of this bar.

:04:28. > :04:33.Well, we have been lucky with the weather this weekend.

:04:34. > :04:38.We've had some lovely weather this weekend, Elizabeth Rizzini can tell

:04:39. > :04:44.us if it's here to stay. Overnight, dry with close skies, temperatures

:04:45. > :04:51.down to eight Celsius. A bright start to the working week but

:04:52. > :04:56.clouding over. Temperatures down to 15 Celsius. Sunshine at times.

:04:57. > :05:04.That's it, Asad Ahmad is back during Breakfast tomorrow morning. Bye`bye.

:05:05. > :05:13.It is early in the year to hit 20 Celsius. Don't get used to it just

:05:14. > :05:19.yet, but some spots in south-east of England got there. Gravesend the top

:05:20. > :05:24.spot, but with cloud in Scotland and Northern Ireland, the temperatures

:05:25. > :05:31.were held down and a wet end to the day courtesy of this weather front.

:05:32. > :05:32.The rain here dying a way. The cloud here straggling England and Wales,

:05:33. > :05:33.holding the temperatures
