:00:14. > :00:18.Good afternoon and welcome to BBC London News.

:00:19. > :00:21.More than 50 universities from around the world are staging an

:00:22. > :00:24.exhibition at the Emirates Stadium today to try and encourage students

:00:25. > :00:29.from London to leave the capital and study abroad. With undergraduates

:00:30. > :00:32.facing high tuition fees and an expensive cost of living here,

:00:33. > :00:34.enrolling overseas has becole an increasingly popular option, with

:00:35. > :00:43.universities in the Netherl`nds a favoured destination.

:00:44. > :00:48.Places like grown again and Amsterdam are phenomenal cities to

:00:49. > :00:51.go and study. You know, the way of life, the cost of living, the Jewish

:00:52. > :00:57.and fees are a fraction of what they are in the UK. `` the tuition fees.

:00:58. > :01:01.We are not losing these kids permanently. It is about getting the

:01:02. > :01:05.experience outside the country and bringing it back to benefit the

:01:06. > :01:08.global City of London. Three people have been taken to

:01:09. > :01:11.hospital after a collision between a marked police car and a bus in

:01:12. > :01:14.Surrey. The crash happened on the Guildford Road in Ottershaw, near

:01:15. > :01:16.the roundabout at St Peter's Way at around eight o'clock last nhght

:01:17. > :01:20.Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses.

:01:21. > :01:23.Controversial plans to build a tower block in Waterloo have been upheld

:01:24. > :01:27.by the High Court, despite fears it could damage London's herit`ge. Both

:01:28. > :01:29.Westminster Council and English Heritage objected to the

:01:30. > :01:35.development, saying it would obscure world famous views of the Houses of

:01:36. > :01:38.Parliament and Westminster @bbey. But the judge said it would provide

:01:39. > :01:42.a much needed boost to the Waterloo area.

:01:43. > :01:45.The life stories of young homeless people have been used as inspiration

:01:46. > :01:48.for new street art in East London. A charity has commissioned gr`ffiti

:01:49. > :01:53.artists to create murals in Dalston and Shoreditch to raise mondy. Lara

:01:54. > :01:59.Joannides has been to see how it works.

:02:00. > :02:03.It is a common sight in parts of London. Here in Shoreditch ht is

:02:04. > :02:06.around every corner. Now ond homeless charity is using street art

:02:07. > :02:12.to raise awareness and monex for vulnerable young people. Thhs is one

:02:13. > :02:15.of five eros decorating walls across east London as part of Depatl's

:02:16. > :02:20.campaign to keep young people off the streets. It's my tells the life

:02:21. > :02:24.story of a young person who has found themselves with nowhere to

:02:25. > :02:29.live. She had a horrible tile with domestic violence and alcoholism.

:02:30. > :02:35.All of the artists volunteered their time and talent to create the works.

:02:36. > :02:40.Homelessness is often overlooked, especially in a city like London

:02:41. > :02:43.that is so amazing and forward`thinking and futuristic It

:02:44. > :02:46.is hard to imagine that there's people in the same city who don t

:02:47. > :02:53.have anywhere to go or anyone to call on. The murals are also

:02:54. > :02:57.online, where people can bux off sections of the digital walls,

:02:58. > :03:02.symbolically moving part of the homeless person's story of the

:03:03. > :03:05.street by donation. The stories are not new. Youth homelessness has been

:03:06. > :03:08.a problem in the capital for many years but according to the latest

:03:09. > :03:13.figures, the number of young people sleeping rough in the city has more

:03:14. > :03:17.than doubled since 2010. We work with about 1000 young peopld in a

:03:18. > :03:20.year. London is a place where young people are drawn to, thinking the

:03:21. > :03:27.streets are paved with gold. At the same time, the provision made for

:03:28. > :03:30.them is less than it was because of benefit cuts and cuts in spdnding by

:03:31. > :03:36.local authorities. Charities are needing to plug the gap. Thd works,

:03:37. > :03:40.of course, are as vulnerabld to the outdoors as the young peopld that

:03:41. > :03:45.are trying to help. While they may not last, it is hoped the mdssage

:03:46. > :03:48.will. And now a quick look `t the weather. A mixture of sunny spells

:03:49. > :03:51.and showers this afternoon. It could feel cool with a top temper`ture of

:03:52. > :03:54.11 degrees. That's all from us this lunchtime

:03:55. > :04:08.but I'll be back with our evening news at 5.20 this evening. Bye`bye.

:04:09. > :04:15.Hello. The weekend started with snowcapped hills and blue sky. Since

:04:16. > :04:21.then, more clout has built and the showers have broken out widely. Some

:04:22. > :04:26.heavy downpours and hell stones -- he'll stones. This is all part and

:04:27. > :04:34.parcel of the colder weather weekend. There is a wintry flavour

:04:35. > :04:37.to the showers. It is snow we and there are frosty and icy nights

:04:38. > :04:43.Over recent hours, you can see the cloud has built up as the showers

:04:44. > :04:46.have developed. There are organised showers moving east across England

:04:47. > :04:48.over the next two hours, and there
