:00:14. > :00:22.good evening. A cyclist has died at a junction that has a history of

:00:23. > :00:25.cycling accidents. The collhsion with a truck happened this lorning

:00:26. > :00:33.in Ludgate Circus where it leets Fleet Street. There have bedn six

:00:34. > :00:37.serious injuries there sincd 20 8. Captured on a mobile phone by a

:00:38. > :00:43.worker in a City office block, the aftermath of another cyclist death

:00:44. > :00:46.in London. The blue police tent masking the full horror. Paramedics

:00:47. > :00:51.said there was nothing they could do to save the man. For much of the

:00:52. > :00:58.day, this part of the City was sealed off. This is an accident

:00:59. > :01:02.blackspot which worries comluters. I am probably `` I was probably on

:01:03. > :01:07.this road five minutes before the collision. I was cycling to work. I

:01:08. > :01:17.think I spotted the lorry there Further behind me. As cyclists talk

:01:18. > :01:21.about this area being a danger zone. Six cyclists have been seriously

:01:22. > :01:26.injured here over the past six years and some campaigners are angry it is

:01:27. > :01:32.not on a City Hall list announced in February of 33 specific junctions

:01:33. > :01:40.which will be redesigned. Wd really need action here. I am hoping that

:01:41. > :01:46.Andrew Gilligan, the mayor `nd EFL will get on and get this redesigned

:01:47. > :01:53.as soon as possible `` TEFL. These workers today had the grim task of

:01:54. > :01:57.retrieving the victim's possessions. It is only now after four and a half

:01:58. > :02:00.hours that they are reopening the normally very busy part of London.

:02:01. > :02:05.In terms of what exactly happened this morning, it is not cle`r.

:02:06. > :02:09.Investigators will be studyhng CCTV of nearby roads. Police said they

:02:10. > :02:17.had arrested the driver of this lorry, a 53`year`old man in question

:02:18. > :02:23.`` questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

:02:24. > :02:27.As a cyclist, it is scary. Dvery time you hear of a death, it is

:02:28. > :02:31.typically a left turning lorry. Sometimes I think there is not

:02:32. > :02:35.enough done in terms of infrastructure and spending on

:02:36. > :02:41.cycling safety. City Hall insisted the sport will be redesigned as part

:02:42. > :02:46.of a new north`south route. In a statement, the mayor's cyclhng

:02:47. > :02:49.Commissioner Andrew Gilligan said, this junction is one of the main

:02:50. > :02:54.junctions on the new super highways which will be consulted on this year

:02:55. > :02:57.and will be given a fully sdgregated junction as part of a fully

:02:58. > :03:01.segregated cycle route. For now for the third time this year, a family

:03:02. > :03:08.of a London cyclist is tonight grieving.

:03:09. > :03:12.A senior Metropolitan Policd officer has today denied treating a female

:03:13. > :03:21.colleague differently because she is black and a woman. PC Carol Howard

:03:22. > :03:26.claimed Dave Kelly discriminated against her.

:03:27. > :03:31.The tribunal today heard how Sergeant Kelly treated Carol Howard

:03:32. > :03:37.light candy he could toy with. It is alleged he singled her out targeting

:03:38. > :03:42.and intimidated her `` treated her like candy. She is only one of two

:03:43. > :03:47.black women in 700 officers working in the diplomatic protection group.

:03:48. > :03:53.Part of her job involved working as a firearms officer at the Alerican

:03:54. > :04:00.Embassy. She today `` he today told the tribunal that Carol How`rd is

:04:01. > :04:04.the only female black officdr he has managed. In a statement, thd said he

:04:05. > :04:09.found the allegation of him being a bigot insulting in the extrdme and

:04:10. > :04:13.denied being attracted to hdr. The hearing was told Dave Kelly sent a

:04:14. > :04:18.marked police car to Carol Howard's house when she called in sick. Today

:04:19. > :04:22.her lawyer said, what it looks like is harassment. An extraordinary

:04:23. > :04:27.zealous approach to make her feel like she is being watched. Sergeant

:04:28. > :04:31.Kelly replied, I would have done the same for any colleague. You treated

:04:32. > :04:37.Carol differently to other officers because she was black and or a

:04:38. > :04:42.woman. He replied, I treat `ll officers the same. Sergeant Kelly

:04:43. > :04:47.would ask Miss Howard about her sex life and Kirsty and `` and

:04:48. > :04:55.questioned her ability to do her job. The hearing continues.

:04:56. > :04:59.Londoners have been dealing with another day of air pollution will

:05:00. > :05:02.stop a mixture of local and continental pollution together with

:05:03. > :05:07.dust from the Sahara is said to be the cause. The warning of today s

:05:08. > :05:16.maximum levels lead to an Enfield school taking preventative `ction.

:05:17. > :05:21.Break time at this primary School, a chance to play, enjoy being outside.

:05:22. > :05:29.Not full this boy with asthla. `` not for this boy. I felt dust in my

:05:30. > :05:36.throat and I drink a lot of water but it still has not helped much. Is

:05:37. > :05:42.it uncomfortable? Yeah. Yesterday, all of the pupils were kept indoors

:05:43. > :05:46.as a precaution. We have sole official advice today from the local

:05:47. > :05:52.authority and DEFRA that thd situation only affects children with

:05:53. > :05:55.respiratory problems. Today we have kept children with asthma inside and

:05:56. > :06:03.everybody else is playing ott as normal. Next door is the busy North

:06:04. > :06:08.circular, the school is planning to plant trees to keep pollution levels

:06:09. > :06:16.down. This was how Londoners saw the smoke captured on camera phones the

:06:17. > :06:23.Shard shrouded. Such concern about air quality, the City of London

:06:24. > :06:28.Corporation has developed this app, advising commuters on the ldast

:06:29. > :06:33.polluted route to work. There are plans for an ultralow emisshon zone.

:06:34. > :06:37.But the capital could face Duropean fines over for a quality and

:06:38. > :06:43.campaigners say the mayor ndeds to do more and more quickly.

:06:44. > :06:46.That is it from me. I wish xou good night and hand you to Chris for the

:06:47. > :06:55.weather. The warmest spot in the country

:06:56. > :07:00.again. Overnight tonight we will keep a blanket of cloud across the

:07:01. > :07:04.region. Temperatures will not fall much from where they are at the

:07:05. > :07:09.moment. A little bit cooler and some of the suburbs. An area of low

:07:10. > :07:14.pressure in Oxfordshire bringing a significant change to the wdather as

:07:15. > :07:16.it drifts north`east woods. It will bring south`westerly winds `nd we

:07:17. > :07:26.will start to see sunshine `nd much cleaner and `` as it drifts to the

:07:27. > :07:31.north`east. More sunshine than we had today. That is the way the

:07:32. > :07:33.weather looks. Now the had today. That is the way the

:07:34. > :07:37.weather looks. Now the latest on the pesky pollution.

:07:38. > :07:45.Good evening. They say a change of air is good for you and that is what

:07:46. > :07:50.we have on the way. The brush that will sweep away all of the air

:07:51. > :07:54.pollution is a weather system developing in the Atlantic. The

:07:55. > :07:58.Atlantic implements very much across the UK from the next few days -

:07:59. > :08:03.over the next few days. Cleaner air from the Atlantic. Ringing rain as

:08:04. > :08:07.well. That is also good because it tends to wash the particles out of

:08:08. > :08:11.the air. We have seen that happening today with fairly heavy rain at

:08:12. > :08:15.times across parts of Wales and south-west England. It will continue

:08:16. > :08:23.north through tonight. Quite wet and mystique across northern England. --

:08:24. > :08:28.quite misty. Pretty mild. Maybe staying in double figures in the

:08:29. > :08:35.South. A fairly great start for most of us tomorrow. Damp and dismal

:08:36. > :08:36.across eastern Scotland -- a fairly grey
