:00:00. > :00:00.about 7.20? That's it. We will be back with the
:00:00. > :00:12.late news at ten o'clock. Now it is time for the news where you are.
:00:13. > :00:16.Good evening and welcome to the programme.
:00:17. > :00:19.Hundreds of residents in South London have spent their bank holiday
:00:20. > :00:22.Monday without water after pipes burst last night. Two blocks of
:00:23. > :00:25.flats were affected, but there's been some dispute over who's
:00:26. > :00:29.responsible for the repairs as the premises were split over two
:00:30. > :00:39.different boroughs. Victoria Graham explains.
:00:40. > :00:44.The problem is simple, a burst water pipe meaning residents in these
:00:45. > :00:48.flats have no water. In fact, the supply was cut off at eight o'clock
:00:49. > :00:53.yesterday evening. The solution to that problem is a little more
:00:54. > :00:59.complex. For residents living here it has been an extremely frustrating
:01:00. > :01:04.day. Who do they call? Some residents pay their council tax to
:01:05. > :01:08.Wandsworth, others to Lambeth. Both councils are directing residents to
:01:09. > :01:11.Thames Water. Lambeth water said it was investigating to find out
:01:12. > :01:17.exactly who is responsible for the burst water main. Wandsworth Council
:01:18. > :01:21.apologised for any inconvenience and said they were working with Thames
:01:22. > :01:28.Water to fix the issue. Thames Water said the problem lies on privately
:01:29. > :01:31.owned pipe and not one owned by Thames Water but they will continue
:01:32. > :01:37.to support the council is as much as they can until the problem is fixed.
:01:38. > :01:43.In the forecast for a dry bank holiday Monday is not what some
:01:44. > :01:46.residents have envisaged. It has been frustrating but to be honest I
:01:47. > :01:51.did not have a great deal planned. It would be nice to have a shower
:01:52. > :01:56.and it feels like a lost day. Concierge told us there was a minor
:01:57. > :02:01.problem with the pipe yesterday. A plumber was called but the situation
:02:02. > :02:09.just got worse. When we arrived it was quite serious. A water main had
:02:10. > :02:12.burst which caused extensive flooding throughout that entire
:02:13. > :02:15.building. Crews from Lambeth worked extremely hard to isolate that water
:02:16. > :02:20.supply and thankfully, we have now stopped the flood water. We have
:02:21. > :02:24.also isolated the electrical supply. Just to assure that the residence
:02:25. > :02:29.above the commercial premises are safe. So no water and no
:02:30. > :02:32.electricity. Thames Water told us this evening that they are still
:02:33. > :02:45.working to resolve the problem with the help of both councils. .
:02:46. > :02:48.A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a young father was
:02:49. > :02:51.stabbed in Essex. 24`year`old Michael Haastrup from Southend was
:02:52. > :02:56.attacked at a flat in Braintree on Wednesday evening and died in
:02:57. > :02:58.hospital. A second man was also injured. This morning 24`year`old
:02:59. > :03:07.Luke Eva appeared before magistrates in Chelmsford and has been remanded
:03:08. > :03:13.in custody. Police are appealing for witnesses
:03:14. > :03:17.after a 24`year`old man was attacked on Saturday evening. Detectives have
:03:18. > :03:21.described the assault on Oxendon Street is particularly violent.
:03:22. > :03:24.The Home Office has said it will now allow a woman from Jamaica to come
:03:25. > :03:27.to London to donate her kidney to her seriously`ill brother. Oliver
:03:28. > :03:31.Cameron from Hackney needs the transplant, and his sister Keisha
:03:32. > :03:34.Rushton offered to become a donor. Initially the Home Office refused
:03:35. > :03:38.her a visa, saying she couldn't be trusted to return to Jamaica after
:03:39. > :03:45.the operation. Ms Rushton is now expected in London within days.
:03:46. > :03:48.A group of teenage girls from Islington have been playing in the
:03:49. > :03:52.2014 World Cup in Brazil for Team England. They were taking part in a
:03:53. > :03:55.tournament for street children in Rio which aims to bring young people
:03:56. > :04:02.together through their love of football. Emma North has followed
:04:03. > :04:06.their progress. It is as competitive and tough as
:04:07. > :04:13.the real tournament. And it is as much fun. This is the street child
:04:14. > :04:17.World Cup, held among the availables of Rio, it brings
:04:18. > :04:22.together people whose lives are chaotic but to love playing
:04:23. > :04:28.football. Among them, a group of teenage girls from Islington
:04:29. > :04:30.representing Team England. I am most excited about getting to see Brazil
:04:31. > :04:35.because it is one of the places I have wanted to go to and getting to
:04:36. > :04:40.learn about other people's cultures. Back home they are in care
:04:41. > :04:44.so they have had to squeeze in training whenever possible and
:04:45. > :04:50.sometimes it shows. When we first arrived, the girls were really like
:04:51. > :04:53.they could not believe the beautiful surroundings. The first thing they
:04:54. > :04:59.saw was a cockroach and they wanted to go back on the plane. We had just
:05:00. > :05:06.arrived that night! Our experience in the last two weeks or so has been
:05:07. > :05:12.intense. It is a really full programme of activities, conference,
:05:13. > :05:15.football and development which is really difficult for young people to
:05:16. > :05:21.take in. But I think what they will get out of it will be brilliant. The
:05:22. > :05:25.struggles of street children are universal but here there is a chance
:05:26. > :05:33.for every child to talk. Although we have not won a lot of Mac shows ``
:05:34. > :05:40.matches, we have become stronger as a team. When a team loses there are
:05:41. > :05:44.no hard feelings. At the end, we'll hug and shake each other's hands.
:05:45. > :05:48.The fact that some countries do not speak English, we can still
:05:49. > :05:55.communicate with them through football, dance and music. It is
:05:56. > :05:59.amazing. After a tough few matches, Team England made it through to the
:06:00. > :06:01.quarterfinals. No cup to lift but plenty more to take away.
:06:02. > :06:13.Now the weather with Darren Bett. Hello, today was the warmest it has
:06:14. > :06:18.been through all Easter but the heat has triggered some thundery showers.
:06:19. > :06:23.Almost anywhere could catch some rain this evening and overnight. It
:06:24. > :06:28.is likely to be heavy. There could be some hail and plunder in there as
:06:29. > :06:32.well. Difficult travelling conditions are expected. It will be
:06:33. > :06:35.mild as we start Tuesday. The tendency is to push the worst of the
:06:36. > :06:40.wet weather northwards. We may be left with one or two showers in the
:06:41. > :06:45.afternoon but increasing amounts of sunshine as well. It will feel
:06:46. > :06:50.pleasantly warm. Through the rest of the week we will maintain those
:06:51. > :06:53.sorts of temperatures, 17 or 18 degrees. There will be some sunshine
:06:54. > :06:57.but also some showers. I will be back with our late news
:06:58. > :06:59.just after quarter past ten tonight. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
:07:00. > :07:35.Goodbye. places, some thunderstorms developed
:07:36. > :07:41.this afternoon, initially to the west of London may have drifted
:07:42. > :07:49.west. Gloucestershire has been pounded by some intense downpours
:07:50. > :07:54.and reports of hailstone as well. We keep this zone of wet weather here
:07:55. > :07:59.through the night. Difficult driving conditions if you are underneath
:08:00. > :08:04.that and yet to make a journey home from the Easter weekend. Generally
:08:05. > :08:11.through the night, outbreaks of rain and turning misty and murky. Some
:08:12. > :08:17.clear spells in the north and west of Scotland. For most, no worries
:08:18. > :08:20.about a frost tonight. Tomorrow, more cloud around than today and a
:08:21. > :08:21.better chance of getting
