:00:13. > :00:17.Good evening. Welcome to the programme. A school in East London

:00:18. > :00:22.is set to become the first in the country to soak a judicial review ``

:00:23. > :00:26.seek a judicial review to stop the Government converting it to an

:00:27. > :00:29.academy. The Warren school wants to stay with the local authority. The

:00:30. > :00:35.majority of parents agree. However the Department for Education said

:00:36. > :00:38.this week, the move should go ahead. Shakespeare doesn't just reveal love

:00:39. > :00:44.through words, he does it through structure as well. This year ten

:00:45. > :00:48.English class learn about these star crossed lovers, staff at the school

:00:49. > :00:52.feel they're living out their own tragedy. Are you ready to feed back?

:00:53. > :00:57.The school was placed in special measures by Ofsted last year. The

:00:58. > :01:01.Education Secretary Michael Gove decided to take the school out of

:01:02. > :01:05.the hands of the local council, by turning it into an academy. The

:01:06. > :01:09.school and council have been fighting the plan. They were given

:01:10. > :01:15.hope in January, when the High Court granted an injunction preventing the

:01:16. > :01:18.move. Shortly after, an Ofsted inspection found the school was

:01:19. > :01:23.making reasonable progress. But on Monday, the Department for Education

:01:24. > :01:27.said the change would go ahead from September. The school and the

:01:28. > :01:31.council are now taking action to challenge that decision.

:01:32. > :01:36.They're applying for a judicial review. It's the first time a school

:01:37. > :01:40.has taken the battle to this stage. They're adamant it's the right

:01:41. > :01:46.decision for everyone. If it becomes an academy, we will see a very

:01:47. > :01:52.different school, because it will ` this is the heart of the community.

:01:53. > :01:58.I don't know whether people will still feel that way about the

:01:59. > :02:01.community. The Department for Education says, "We cannot simply

:02:02. > :02:06.stand by when a school continues to provide an unacceptable standard of

:02:07. > :02:10.education. It is absolutely right that the Secretary of State takes

:02:11. > :02:15.this action to bring about the best possible outcomes for pupils." (The

:02:16. > :02:19.council will be lodging the legal papers over coming weeks and it's

:02:20. > :02:25.clear other schools will be watch pg the case closely.

:02:26. > :02:30.A road has been closed in south London, after a building roof

:02:31. > :02:34.collapse. Three people were injured when the roof caved in on London

:02:35. > :02:37.Road in norbury. Private security guards are to be

:02:38. > :02:41.brought in to replace some of the police officers at the Houses of

:02:42. > :02:44.Parliament. To cut costs, security screening at public entrances will

:02:45. > :02:48.be run by a private contractor from next April.

:02:49. > :02:52.Now thousands of cyclists brought the traffic to a halt in Central

:02:53. > :02:57.London earlier, as they took part in a rally to get more space upon the

:02:58. > :03:00.capital's streets. Campaigners want local councils to improve their

:03:01. > :03:05.streets, so all Londoners, including children and the elderly can cycle

:03:06. > :03:10.safe live. `` safely. Some of London's busiest

:03:11. > :03:14.roads this afternoon it was cyclists only and it brought those who don't

:03:15. > :03:19.normally brave the traffic out to play. They can't expect this sort of

:03:20. > :03:23.space in London, they want more than they've currently got. I go quite a

:03:24. > :03:26.long way round to use cycle lanes to get to work because I'm determined

:03:27. > :03:31.to cycle. But it should be a lot easier. You get a lot of cyclists

:03:32. > :03:34.cutting in and out of cars and that's where a lot of accidents

:03:35. > :03:38.happen. When there's so many cars there isn't space. It's worse than

:03:39. > :03:43.Paris, where I come from. I think drivers are pretty harsh on

:03:44. > :03:49.cyclists. I really have to be super careful. Five psych tastes have died

:03:50. > :03:55.this year in London. On Tuesday, another man was killed in a crash

:03:56. > :03:59.with a HGV at elephant and castle. The campaigners say such deaths

:04:00. > :04:03.could be avoided if more segregated lanes were built and infrastructure

:04:04. > :04:06.was improved. Local authorities own the vafrt majority of London's

:04:07. > :04:10.streets. So the timing of this here today is significant. It's ahead of

:04:11. > :04:15.the local elections on Thursday. It's a plea to politicians to get on

:04:16. > :04:20.board and help redesign their streets. So while the mayor says

:04:21. > :04:24.he's spending millions on cycling infrastructure, today was about

:04:25. > :04:27.ordinary Londoners being able to cycle safely around their

:04:28. > :04:31.neighbourhoods. The street outside your house is properlily controlled

:04:32. > :04:36.by your politicians. If they want to create protected space or reduce the

:04:37. > :04:41.motor traffic, they have that in Mir power. `` their power. You can tell

:04:42. > :04:45.them to do it. Many here are parents, their hope to be able to

:04:46. > :04:49.cycle with children on London roads, not just when they're closed.

:04:50. > :04:53.And tomorrow's weather: It's set to be another warm day with lots of

:04:54. > :04:57.sunshine. Top temperature 24 Celsius.

:04:58. > :04:59.That's it. We're back tomorrow, until then, enjoy the rest of your

:05:00. > :05:14.weekend. Good evening. Who needs an expensive

:05:15. > :05:20.holiday? Today at 24 degrees, Suffolk was warmer than Ibiza and

:05:21. > :05:23.Crete. There was lots of warm sunshine to be found across England

:05:24. > :05:27.and Wales. Of course, that hasn't been the story everywhere. Cooler

:05:28. > :05:29.and cloudier and much wetter weather across Scotland and Northern

:05:30. > :05:33.Ireland. More rain for western Scotland and the Northern Isles

:05:34. > :05:38.tonight. Rain spreading further into Northern Ireland too. Some of it

:05:39. > :05:39.will be heavy at times. Elsewhere, a dry night and warm. Lows of
