:00:13. > :00:17.Campaigners have claimed lives could be put at risk with the closure of

:00:18. > :00:22.They say neighbouring hospitals won't be able to cope when the

:00:23. > :00:28.emergency units at Hammersmith and Central Middlesex shut in September.

:00:29. > :00:30.But NHS bosses insist no changes are being made

:00:31. > :00:40.Here's our political correspondent Karl Mercer.

:00:41. > :00:43.Despite the chanting, the petition and banners, change is on the way

:00:44. > :00:49.Four A in the area are to be either shut or downgraded.

:00:50. > :00:52.Those at Ealing and Charing Cross will lose some services.

:00:53. > :00:54.This week it has been announced that those at Hammersmith and

:00:55. > :00:58.Central Middlesex will be shut on September 10th.

:00:59. > :01:01.At the moment, the A department at Hammersmith sees around 60

:01:02. > :01:07.Around a third of those are admitted to the hospital.

:01:08. > :01:11.But from September 10th, the ambulances will be going elsewhere,

:01:12. > :01:18.The NHS estimates 25 ambulances a day will divert to St Mary's,

:01:19. > :01:22.with 15 patients referred from the urgent care centre at Hammersmith.

:01:23. > :01:26.It says 13 patients a day will need to be admitted.

:01:27. > :01:29.But papers from the board meeting of Imperial College Health says

:01:30. > :01:33.the current capacity at St Mary's for acute admissions is already

:01:34. > :01:41.It says additional capacity at St Mary's is central to delivery

:01:42. > :01:47.It goes on this is unlikely to conclude prior to the conclusion

:01:48. > :01:50.That has worried the local council leader.

:01:51. > :01:53.Newly elected last week, Stephen Cowan mentioned the hospital

:01:54. > :02:00.The people of Hammersmith and Fulham tell you hand on heart,

:02:01. > :02:06.We cannot have bureaucrats sitting in offices making these kind

:02:07. > :02:10.of decisions, putting lives at risk and taking no notice of

:02:11. > :02:13.the electoral mandate that has been given to Hammersmith and Fulham.

:02:14. > :02:19.There was a promise these decisions would be made on a clinical basis.

:02:20. > :02:29.It says wards usually used for the winter rush will be pressed

:02:30. > :02:37.What we are doing is moving small teams of doctors at Hammersmith

:02:38. > :02:41.and moving them to larger units to provide better care over 24 hours

:02:42. > :02:45.a day which is much better for patients.

:02:46. > :02:48.They are calling for an urgent meeting with

:02:49. > :02:56.The Metropolitan Police has said an officer involved in restraining a

:02:57. > :03:00.man who later died in custody will no longer be allowed to resign.

:03:01. > :03:03.The force said Andrew Birks would instead be suspended, after

:03:04. > :03:07.the police watchdog said "accepting his resignation would prevent him

:03:08. > :03:11.facing disciplinary proceedings" over the death of Sean Rigg.

:03:12. > :03:18.Mr Rigg died at Brixton police station six years ago.

:03:19. > :03:20.A doctor in Haringey has been struck`off the medical register

:03:21. > :03:23.for agreeing to help arrange female genital mutilation.

:03:24. > :03:26.Dr Ali Mao`Aweys told an undercover reporter that he could

:03:27. > :03:32.arrange for the illegal surgery to be carried out on two young girls.

:03:33. > :03:34.A tribunal said he abused his position

:03:35. > :03:39.and should be banned from practicing.

:03:40. > :03:41.Plans to extend the Westfield Shopping Centre

:03:42. > :03:44.in west London, creating thousands of jobs and hundreds of new homes,

:03:45. > :03:51.But the idea has also come under fire for only making a fraction

:03:52. > :03:54.of the new homes "affordable" for many Londoners.

:03:55. > :03:57.Alice Bhandhukravi is outside Westfield for us this

:03:58. > :04:13.That is right. Westfield opened up here six years ago. In that time it

:04:14. > :04:17.has gone from strength to strength and they have opened a site at East

:04:18. > :04:22.London near the Olympic Park. Now they have pressed ahead with a ?1

:04:23. > :04:27.billion expansion with new shops. Thousands of jobs are in the

:04:28. > :04:34.pipeline. New homes will also be built. Westfield have committed to

:04:35. > :04:39.building 1300 new homes. Just 12% have been described as affordable.

:04:40. > :04:44.The Mayor's target is 40% of homes built by new developments should be

:04:45. > :04:49.described as affordable. The local MP has expressed his disappointment

:04:50. > :04:53.with the terms of the deal. I hope we can either persuade or insist

:04:54. > :04:59.that Westfield go back and look at this again. If they are going to be

:05:00. > :05:02.a good neighbour they have to think about not just the people who shop

:05:03. > :05:08.there, but the people who live there. Westfield themselves have

:05:09. > :05:11.said the terms of the deal are the best they can do in the current

:05:12. > :05:18.economic climate. City Hall have been quick to defend their approval

:05:19. > :05:21.of this expansion. This is an extremely expensive site to build

:05:22. > :05:26.on. The main advantage from our point of view is jobs. We wage jobs

:05:27. > :05:29.and housing in the balance when we make these decisions. It is about

:05:30. > :05:36.the overall economic benefit to the city. These plans are expected to

:05:37. > :05:41.take place within the next three years. Given that in the last week,

:05:42. > :05:45.Labour won control of the former Tory lead counsel, we may see

:05:46. > :05:50.Hammersmith Council looking to renegotiate the terms of this deal

:05:51. > :05:54.to increase the number of affordable homes to be built. Thank you.

:05:55. > :05:57.Finally, 20,000 tonnes of the Royal Navy's finest ship has moored

:05:58. > :05:59.in Greenwich to give Londoners the chance to have

:06:00. > :06:03.HMS Bulwark has come to London before it heads to Normandy next

:06:04. > :06:06.week, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D`Day landings.

:06:07. > :06:09.All tickets to visit the ship have sold out, but thousands of Londoners

:06:10. > :06:13.are expected to visit Greenwich just to see the 176 metre vessel which

:06:14. > :06:25.Well, if you're heading that way, let's find out what

:06:26. > :06:40.I have some good news. It should be getting brighter after what has been

:06:41. > :06:44.a dull week. Lots of cloud but for Saturday and Sunday, much brighter

:06:45. > :06:49.skies. Most of us will see some spells of sunshine. It should be

:06:50. > :06:53.feeling warmer as well. Temperatures have been dropping overnight

:06:54. > :06:57.tonight. Largely clear skies. Cloud to the west of London. We should

:06:58. > :07:02.just about staying double figures in the city centre. In the outskirts

:07:03. > :07:09.single figures. A fresh start to Saturday. Cloud will develop through

:07:10. > :07:14.the day. It will turn a bit grey at times. Generally, dry and bright.

:07:15. > :07:21.When the sun is out, temperatures climbing. Sunday will be similar. A

:07:22. > :07:25.bright start, cloud in the afternoon but it will get warmer. We can see

:07:26. > :07:29.Sunday's temperatures may be a degree or so higher. Then it is set

:07:30. > :07:31.to turn cooler and fresher with showers into the early part of next

:07:32. > :07:35.week. Enjoy showers into the early part of next

:07:36. > :07:42.week. Enjoy the weekend, if you can. Now the national outlook.

:07:43. > :07:49.Hello, lots of outdoor plans ahead. By and large, we are in pretty good

:07:50. > :07:54.shape. A quick look back at spring. It was the third warmest on record

:07:55. > :07:58.but the dullest May in Northern Ireland on record. It has been dull

:07:59. > :08:03.across many parts of the UK in actual fact. Scotland had some

:08:04. > :08:09.sunshine and parts of East Anglia and the south-east as well. Under

:08:10. > :08:17.the cloud tonight temperatures will stay well up. But under the clear

:08:18. > :08:25.skies will get down close to freezing. A dry start to the weekend

:08:26. > :08:29.virtually everywhere. It will stay that way for the vast majority as we

:08:30. > :08:33.go through the day. There will be some subtle variations around the

:08:34. > :08:42.UK. As funny start for East Anglia and the south-east. -- a sunny

:08:43. > :08:43.start. It looks fine across Scotland and Northern Ireland
