:00:00. > :00:12.Now on BBC One, it's time for the news where you are. Bye for now.

:00:13. > :00:19.Good evening and welcome to BBC London News, with me Asad Ahmad.

:00:20. > :00:21.Two years ago - campaigning for re-election

:00:22. > :00:24.Boris Johnson claimed his rival Ken Livingstone had spent more time

:00:25. > :00:30.But since winning a second Mayoral term, the BBC has learned that

:00:31. > :00:35.the Mayor has spent more time in Doha than he has in Dagenham

:00:36. > :00:38.Critics say he's in danger of becoming a 'Zone One Mayor'

:00:39. > :00:42.which is exactly the same accusation HE made about his predecessor.

:00:43. > :00:44.Our Political Correspondent, Karl Mercer's report,

:00:45. > :00:51.Overseas trips are nothing new for London's Mayors. Ken Livingstone

:00:52. > :00:55.went round-the-world to promote the capital taking in India and Cuba on

:00:56. > :00:58.his travels. Boris Johnson has done the same. That hasn't stopped

:00:59. > :01:02.London's current Mayor publicly criticising his predesessor.

:01:03. > :01:05.He went to Havana more often than he went to Havering.

:01:06. > :01:09.It was a line repeated in Boris Johnson's 2012 election manifesto.

:01:10. > :01:14.Analysis of his own diary for 2013 shows he spent more time at The

:01:15. > :01:20.borough and more time in Doha last year than in Dagenham.

:01:21. > :01:24.He visited a lot in his first term when he was relying on outer London

:01:25. > :01:27.he hoped to vote him back in and he's rather turned his back on it.

:01:28. > :01:30.It is interesting about the foreign visits. I defend the right of a

:01:31. > :01:34.Mayor to go abroad and campaign for London. I represent Shoreditch which

:01:35. > :01:37.is about to have a big development. I hope he is going to come and talk

:01:38. > :01:40.as much to Londoners about their issues

:01:41. > :01:45.In fact, the Mayor's passport was well-used last year. There was a

:01:46. > :01:48.big trip to China and there had been plenty of others. So has he

:01:49. > :01:51.turned his back on the outer London boroughs he once courted in favour

:01:52. > :01:57.The Mayor made it clear that outer London is a priority. He went there

:01:58. > :02:02.100 times in the course of his four years. That's 100 official

:02:03. > :02:06.engagements, not just political visits or anything else.

:02:07. > :02:15.And that was twice or three times what Ken Livingstone had done.

:02:16. > :02:18.The Mayor's team, like the man himself, remain bullish, he hasn't

:02:19. > :02:25.forgotten his roots, but expect to see more of him overseas, too.

:02:26. > :02:28.Bus passengers now have the chance to take 'one more

:02:29. > :02:31.journey' - even if they don't have enough credit on their Oyster Card.

:02:32. > :02:34.It's ahead of London's buses going completely

:02:35. > :02:44.cashless in exactly four weeks, as Emilia Papadopoulos explains.

:02:45. > :02:51.Cash was once King and the only way to pay your fare. But all that's

:02:52. > :02:55.changing and in a month's time the bus network will go completely

:02:56. > :03:00.cashless. To prepare for the move, today Transport for London launched

:03:01. > :03:05.the One More Journey initiative. The scheme means that if you don't have

:03:06. > :03:07.enough credit, as long as you have a positive balance on your Oyster

:03:08. > :03:09.Card, you can still use the bus. positive balance on your Oyster

:03:10. > :03:14.Card, you can still use the bus But if you have a negative balance, you

:03:15. > :03:18.won't be able to travel. So what about Londoners in more remote areas

:03:19. > :03:22.where there are fewer places to top up? We have done some reviews of the

:03:23. > :03:31.areas where we need more ticket shops where you can top up your

:03:32. > :03:36.Oyster Card. The majority of passengers use Oyster Cards to pay

:03:37. > :03:46.for their travel. 1% pay for their journey with cash. TfL say they will

:03:47. > :03:52.save ?130 million over nine years. Not all commuters are keen on the

:03:53. > :03:56.idea. If I can't get to a place where they sell an Oyster Card, you

:03:57. > :04:00.can only do it at a station or shops, if the shop is not open, and

:04:01. > :04:05.the station is not open, you have to get on the bus using cash. But bus

:04:06. > :04:14.bosses insist going cashless is the best way forward for London.

:04:15. > :04:19.Police are hunting for thieves who stole medals from a 92-year-old war

:04:20. > :04:23.veteran. The victim who served with the Grenadier Guards was at home in

:04:24. > :04:25.Barnet when a man posing as a worker from a water company carried out the

:04:26. > :04:29.burglary. The Queen's Baton visited the

:04:30. > :04:33.Olympic Park in Stratford today as part of the build-up to the

:04:34. > :04:34.Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. And former Olympic rower

:04:35. > :04:36.Sir Matthew Pincent was given the task of abseiling

:04:37. > :04:40.into the park with the baton. A look at the weather,

:04:41. > :04:42.and after a mainly dry night, the temperature will rise quickly,

:04:43. > :04:45.making it even warmer than today. But there will be a chance

:04:46. > :04:49.of some rain in places, too. I'll be back with our next news

:04:50. > :04:53.at 10.45 tonight on BBC One. Until then, I hope you have

:04:54. > :05:10.a very good evening. Good evening. We got to 25 Celsius

:05:11. > :05:15.this afternoon. There were some heavy showers elsewhere. Low

:05:16. > :05:18.pressure to the west of the United Kingdom, anticlockwise winds around

:05:19. > :05:23.that, dragging in some warm air from the near continent. The showers will

:05:24. > :05:30.tend to fade away from Scotland and Northern Ireland overnight. Further

:05:31. > :05:34.showers drifting up. 8.00am, in the South West, it is largely fine and

:05:35. > :05:40.dry. Fairly warm, though. Could be 17 or 18 at 8.00am. So quite a warm

:05:41. > :05:42.start to the day. Maybe one or two showers in the south. A much higher
