:00:00. > 3:59:59That's all from us. Now on BBC One, it's time

:00:00. > :00:28.for the news where a recruitment crisis. The sdrvice

:00:29. > :00:31.says it faces a shortfall of 60 paramedics. It is calling for a

:00:32. > :00:35.review of paramedics. It is calling for a

:00:36. > :00:39.public sector pay to help rdtain front line staff.

:00:40. > :00:48.OK, we are off to an urgent care centre at Guy's Hospital. Alice

:00:49. > :00:54.wanted a front line job in London. 11 months ago, she got one. We are

:00:55. > :00:59.en route to a 67`year`old. Alice is typical of the new recruits

:01:00. > :01:04.the London Ambulance Servicd does get. 24, a graduate and keen to work

:01:05. > :01:09.in the capital, where the job is at its most challenging. Pull them

:01:10. > :01:16.towards you and push them away. This is the side she ajoys. Allen has had

:01:17. > :01:23.a suspected stroke and will be taken to a unit. Long`term it depdnds

:01:24. > :01:28.which direction my career hdads in. I think I'll have to move ott to

:01:29. > :01:32.bring up a family or buy a house. I could not do it in London. Being a

:01:33. > :01:36.graduate I have a lot of unhversity debt. I have come to London. I am in

:01:37. > :01:42.debt. I am considering moving out in the future. I cannot afford to stay

:01:43. > :01:46.and work in London. This is my wage slip... Jonathan is looking

:01:47. > :01:53.elsewhere ` Australia pays ` big issue. He earns ?1940 a month. His

:01:54. > :01:57.rent alone is ?1500. You want to do a job in the nation's capit`l that

:01:58. > :02:03.you are proud of. You cannot even afford to pay the rent or jtst about

:02:04. > :02:07.pay the rent. So, what's thd point? That's basically what frustrates me.

:02:08. > :02:10.I come home and think, what is the point of my day. I have helped a

:02:11. > :02:16.couple of people. Have I moved myself on? I want my family to

:02:17. > :02:20.advance. I want more kids. Where am I going to live? It is a re`l

:02:21. > :02:24.problem for London's ambulance service. In a submission to the

:02:25. > :02:28.London health board it says if the current trend continues it will have

:02:29. > :02:36.600 front line vacancies by the end of the year. In May alone 30

:02:37. > :02:41.paramedics left. In 2011`2002, 1 had left. That nearly trebldd to 238

:02:42. > :02:48.last year. The issue for us here is the high cost of working and living

:02:49. > :02:52.in London. Not just us but `ll public service workers. We have

:02:53. > :02:56.asked them to seriously consider what more can be done to support all

:02:57. > :03:01.public sector workers with the true cost of living and working hn a

:03:02. > :03:05.capital city. London Ambulance Service is recruiting not jtst here

:03:06. > :03:09.but also from overseas. These are challenging times.

:03:10. > :03:14.Four people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man

:03:15. > :03:20.stabbed to death in when den. Two men aged 19 `` in Hendon. Two mean

:03:21. > :03:23.19 and 20, and two girls, 16 and 17 remain in custody. It is thought the

:03:24. > :03:29.38`year`old victim was stabbed to death during a failed robbery. A

:03:30. > :03:32.fraudster who targeted elderly and vulnerable victims using a bogus

:03:33. > :03:38.lottery scam has been jailed for eight years. Frank Onyeachonam

:03:39. > :03:42.bought of sport cars and properties in Canning Town and Nigeria, after

:03:43. > :03:48.defrauding people out of hundreds of thousands of pounds. Labour has won

:03:49. > :03:52.two out of three seats on Tower Hamlets Council. It follows a

:03:53. > :03:55.by`election in the Blackwall and Cubitt Town wards. It was closely

:03:56. > :04:00.watched after criticism of the borough during the elections in May.

:04:01. > :04:05.As well as Labour's win, thd Conservatives held one seat. A free

:04:06. > :04:09.school which faced collapse before it even opened has fresh hope

:04:10. > :04:13.tonight. Funding for Fulham Boys School was pulled by the Edtcation

:04:14. > :04:17.Secretary at the last minutd after a permanent site fell through. After a

:04:18. > :04:23.tense day of negotiations bdtween Michael Gove and the major `` mayor,

:04:24. > :04:32.City Hall are confident a solution can be found. These are people with

:04:33. > :04:35.a can`do attitude. Passions ran high as perspective parents vent their

:04:36. > :04:39.anger. The Education Secret`ry pulled the plug at the last minute,

:04:40. > :04:45.leaving 100 pupils with no school. Devastated. I am gutted. We'll fight

:04:46. > :04:48.until it stops and we get otr school back. A Government representative

:04:49. > :04:53.was present. Parents hope they got the message. It is not ethical. It

:04:54. > :05:01.is not considerate to familhes and the boys. The whole transithon from

:05:02. > :05:04.primary to secondary is so dmotional and detrimental to their

:05:05. > :05:08.development. My son has special needs, so the search for a school

:05:09. > :05:13.for a child with special nedds takes longer. The school was due to open

:05:14. > :05:18.on this temporary site in sdventh and then move to the sul `` in

:05:19. > :05:22.September and then move to hs Sullivan school site. The ndw Labour

:05:23. > :05:26.council is keeping that open. Michael Gove says no permandnt site

:05:27. > :05:31.equals no school. He told us yesterday who he thinks shotld help

:05:32. > :05:35.find one. Luckily we have in the Mayor of London a Conservathve mayor

:05:36. > :05:38.who has backed free schools. Who when other local authorities have

:05:39. > :05:42.been difficult in the past has liberated sites. I am deterlined we

:05:43. > :05:49.will find a site for this m`rvellous group of people. The mayor helped

:05:50. > :05:54.ten new schools help new sites last week. Although this came as a

:05:55. > :05:57.surprise to Boris Johnson, he rang Michael Gove this afternoon. The two

:05:58. > :06:02.are working together to find a solution. They will meet as early as

:06:03. > :06:04.next week and a number of options have been identified.

:06:05. > :06:09.Representatives at the school have given the news a cautious wdlcome.

:06:10. > :06:14.Time is running out. They h`ve pupils a uniform and a per speck tus

:06:15. > :06:18.described by ministers as the best ever created by a free school.

:06:19. > :06:26.Finally they have hope that this school may open as planned.

:06:27. > :06:29.That's it from me this evenhng. I will leave you with the weather

:06:30. > :06:38.It gets to the weekend and ht starts to rain. Typical! It is not a lost

:06:39. > :06:41.cause! Most of the rain acttally is coming through tonight. Aftdr, that

:06:42. > :06:47.there's a risk of a few showers as the weekend goes on. Yes, it will be

:06:48. > :06:52.cooler. Pleasantly warm when the sun makes an appearance. The rahn is

:06:53. > :06:56.here. You may appreciate th`t on the garden. It will get heavier during

:06:57. > :07:01.the night. With all that gohng on and after a warm day temper`tures

:07:02. > :07:05.are not going down too far. It is a damp and dismalstart in the morning.

:07:06. > :07:10.The early heavy rain will clear Patchy rain will be around. It gets

:07:11. > :07:14.brighter and drier through the day. Sunny spells coming through into the

:07:15. > :07:17.afternoon. There may be somd further showers coming through later in the

:07:18. > :07:21.afternoon. Temperatures are still into the 20s. It will still feel

:07:22. > :07:26.pleasantly warm. So, it is ` slow start to the weekend. Let's look

:07:27. > :07:29.further ahead. After that e`rly rain on Saturday, there is still a chance

:07:30. > :07:32.for a shower on Sunday, espdcially later in the day. Before th`t,

:07:33. > :07:46.plenty of sunshine. Today's weather played out like a

:07:47. > :07:55.classic World Cup match - a tale of two halves.

:07:56. > :07:59.Highest temperatures for this year. A different story further north and

:08:00. > :08:06.west. A lot of cloud around. It was breezy, and yes, we saw significant

:08:07. > :08:10.rain. This rain has to clear further east overnight and then it

:08:11. > :08:16.introduces a different feel to our weather - sunny spells but also

:08:17. > :08:20.showers. So a good drenching for the gardens overnight. Some of the rain

:08:21. > :08:27.heavy over north-east England for a time and stretching up towards

:08:28. > :08:28.south-east Scotland as this weather front goes further east. First
