:00:00. > :00:00.We are back with the late news after the World Cup final.

:00:00. > :00:00.Now on BBC1, it?s time for the news where you are.

:00:07. > :00:20.A group of leading business figures has

:00:21. > :00:23.accused the government of a lack of political leadership over the future

:00:24. > :00:28.Last December, the Airports Commission came up with a series of

:00:29. > :00:32.recommendations which the government still hasn't responded to.

:00:33. > :00:35.In an open letter, business leaders say political

:00:36. > :00:37.procrastination over the issue could damage the British economy.

:00:38. > :00:50.The future of airport expansion in London and the South East is still

:00:51. > :00:55.up in the air and business leaders, including bosses of some of

:00:56. > :00:58.retail's biggest names, claims silence on the part of ministers

:00:59. > :01:03.could damage the economy. We think it is really important for

:01:04. > :01:07.the government to maintain the trust and confidence of the business

:01:08. > :01:11.community, that they come out and say on record that they support that

:01:12. > :01:17.view, that London and the South East needs at least one runway.

:01:18. > :01:21.It has been seven months since the commission made that recommendation,

:01:22. > :01:25.it short listed three options. Build a third runway at Heathrow to the

:01:26. > :01:30.North West. A more radical idea double the length of the North

:01:31. > :01:35.runway. At Wick says a second runway there would be much cheaper and

:01:36. > :01:39.quicker to build. -- Gatwick. The option champions by the Mayor of

:01:40. > :01:43.London, a new airport in the Thames Street, has received a big blow the

:01:44. > :01:46.commission says it would come at considerable risk and cost to the

:01:47. > :01:51.taxpayer. The business leaders today do not

:01:52. > :01:55.say which option they would prefer but they complained London is

:01:56. > :01:58.missing out because of a lack of political leadership and that other

:01:59. > :02:01.European cities are cashing in at our expense.

:02:02. > :02:06.The government responded by saying it was acting on the commission s

:02:07. > :02:08.findings last December, including better rail access to Gatwick. In a

:02:09. > :02:26.statement, it said... Green campaigners claim the real

:02:27. > :02:30.concern should not be the economy but the environmental impact of any

:02:31. > :02:35.expansion. The commission's final recommendation is not expected until

:02:36. > :02:42.summer 2015, after the next general election.

:02:43. > :02:45.A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 24-year-old man

:02:46. > :02:47.The 18-yearold student, from Tottenham, is accused

:02:48. > :02:50.of stabbing to death Hassan Mohammed, who was from Camberwell,

:02:51. > :02:54.In just over two months? time, Scotland will go to

:02:55. > :02:57.the polls over whether it should remain part of the UK.

:02:58. > :02:59.If Scotland were to become independent, what impact would

:03:00. > :03:09.Our political editor, Tom Donovan, reports.

:03:10. > :03:14.The recent local elections again showed the capital leaning towards

:03:15. > :03:18.labour and some sight of Scotland left the union, it would lead -

:03:19. > :03:22.leave the M out of step with the rest of the country.

:03:23. > :03:27.Across history, you will see if you took Scottish MPs out of Parliament,

:03:28. > :03:31.the extremities of victories for the Conservatives would be more and for

:03:32. > :03:35.Labour would have been less. It means it is much more difficult so

:03:36. > :03:42.it polarises politics a bit in London because we know that London

:03:43. > :03:44.votes Labour in significant numbers. With Scotland like London broadly

:03:45. > :03:48.more purely European, what would independents do?

:03:49. > :03:53.London would find itself in a remainder of the UK which was more

:03:54. > :03:58.likely to vote to leave the EU and if the Scots had stayed, assuming

:03:59. > :04:03.there is a vote on whether we leave the EU. So London might find itself

:04:04. > :04:06.leaving the EU because the Scots have left the UK.

:04:07. > :04:11.There are lots of different opinions about whether London would lose or

:04:12. > :04:14.gain economically. There is a support London gives to

:04:15. > :04:18.the rest of the country and to Scotland and I can see the argument

:04:19. > :04:22.there would be financial institutions, insurance companies

:04:23. > :04:25.moving down to London, but this is about more than money. It is about

:04:26. > :04:29.who we think we are and our shared history and culture and I do not

:04:30. > :04:37.want to leave the schools -- lose the Scots.

:04:38. > :04:43.After the crash, it did not make us resilient. Could we do without a lot

:04:44. > :04:48.of these debt-ridden banks which to mark relocating themselves to

:04:49. > :04:51.London. I think we would do quite happy.

:04:52. > :04:52.The argument remains about whether it would leave London richer or

:04:53. > :04:56.poorer. Now with a look at the weather,

:04:57. > :05:09.here's Georgina Burnett. More change ahead and for the better

:05:10. > :05:13.as it should feel more comfortable. Fresher under clear skies with

:05:14. > :05:22.temperatures down to 12 degrees Tomorrow, a fine day, largely dry.

:05:23. > :05:26.We cannot rule out showers. A lot of sunny spells. It will cloud over in

:05:27. > :05:31.the afternoon but should be quite pleasant with temperatures up to 22,

:05:32. > :05:35.20 three degrees and a slight south-westerly breeze. Into Tuesday,

:05:36. > :05:41.more change. We returned to the wetter weather. At the rain is

:05:42. > :05:44.likely -- we will return. More showers on Wednesday the

:05:45. > :05:49.temperatures will rise and towards the end of the week, the high 2 s.

:05:50. > :06:06.We'll be back at ten, enjoy your evening, goodbye.

:06:07. > :06:13.Hello, most places are enjoying a fine end to the weekend with some

:06:14. > :06:17.sunshine. You might be firing up the barbecue ahead of the World Cup

:06:18. > :06:21.final but we have seen torrential storms in East Anglia and they still

:06:22. > :06:26.have showers. They will ease but showers in Eastern Scott and into

:06:27. > :06:31.eastern England. Elsewhere, it is dry and clear and misty and places,

:06:32. > :06:39.and cooler, sunspots in single figures. -- some areas. 20 of

:06:40. > :06:43.sunshine first thing but the weather will change from the West. Northern

:06:44. > :06:47.Ireland is first to get rain in the morning and that will head into

:06:48. > :06:52.western Scotland, quite heavy and reaching parts of western England

:06:53. > :06:55.and Wales in the afternoon. In the East, not much. Cloud will build

:06:56. > :07:02.across central and eastern Scotland but they -- but there will still be

:07:03. > :07:04.sunny spells and it will feel warm. Northern Ireland,
