:00:00. > :00:00.the BBC News Channel in just is a few minutes too. Now on BBC One,

:00:00. > :00:20.time for the news where you are. Good evening.

:00:21. > :00:25.British Airways is to be sued over claims that one of its pilots

:00:26. > :00:31.sexually abused children during stopovers in East Africa. Simon Wood

:00:32. > :00:34.from Hertfordshire was dew to appear in court last August over further

:00:35. > :00:40.allegations of assaulting an 8`year`old girl in the UK but the

:00:41. > :00:43.pilot was found dead after being hit by a train.

:00:44. > :00:50.British Airways flies nearly 100,000 people every day of the year. That's

:00:51. > :00:53.why we can also bring help to those who need it most.

:00:54. > :00:58.British Airways is involved with charities around the world. Showing

:00:59. > :01:03.in on`board videos some of which the good work of its staff. But to its

:01:04. > :01:09.embarrassment one of its employees was using BA's charitable work as a

:01:10. > :01:14.cover to allegedly abuse children. 54`year`old Simon Wood was a First

:01:15. > :01:19.Officer on long haul flights. For more than a decade he regularly flew

:01:20. > :01:26.out to East Africa, stopping over in Nairobi. It is claimed that between

:01:27. > :01:31.2003 and last year, he abused 16 children in Kenya, Tanzania and

:01:32. > :01:36.Uganda. The allegations ranging from inappropriate touching to rape. One

:01:37. > :01:40.of his alleged victims was as young as five. This London lawyer has been

:01:41. > :01:47.out to Kenya to talk to some of them. It is devastating. It's life

:01:48. > :01:51.changing. They all saw this person as somebody that could help them, a

:01:52. > :01:58.respected person at the airline able to assist them and went on to abuse

:01:59. > :02:02.that. Those victim are now suing BA for alleged negligence. This is one

:02:03. > :02:06.of the orphanages that Simon Wood visited in Kenya. It is claimed he

:02:07. > :02:11.was found with indecent photos ten years ago at a charity and was asked

:02:12. > :02:17.to leave. The question is, did BA know? Simon Wood was found dead near

:02:18. > :02:24.Potters Bar station on August 18th last year. He'd been struck by a

:02:25. > :02:27.train. 12 days later he was dew at Southwark k by a train. 12 days

:02:28. > :02:30.later he was dew at Southwark Crown Court `` due at Southwark Crown

:02:31. > :02:33.Court to face further allegations, including a charge of indecent

:02:34. > :02:37.assault on an 8`year`old girl in the UK. Today an inquest found he

:02:38. > :02:42.committed suicide. He felt it was his only way out, according to the

:02:43. > :02:47.coroner. British Airways said it couldn't go into detail because of

:02:48. > :03:01.pending litigation. But in a statement said:

:03:02. > :03:11.The case is expected to go to the High Court later this year.

:03:12. > :03:15.London's population is expected to rise by pected to go to the High

:03:16. > :03:17.Court later this year. London's population is expected to

:03:18. > :03:20.rise by 11 million ` to 11 million by 2050, putting further pressure on

:03:21. > :03:24.homes, energy, schools and transport. The Mayor of London

:03:25. > :03:30.outlined his thoughts on how the capital needed to change. It

:03:31. > :03:34.includes building 600 new schools and colleges and many more homes

:03:35. > :03:38.each year. Three Muslim organisations including

:03:39. > :03:43.the Finsbury Park Mosque in North London are having their bank

:03:44. > :03:47.accounts closed by HSBC. The mosque described the move as Islam phobic

:03:48. > :03:50.but the bank dismissed claims that they are being targeted because of

:03:51. > :03:55.their religious or political affiliations. It has indicated that

:03:56. > :04:03.it thinks doing business with them is too risky.

:04:04. > :04:08.Anas Al`Tikriti run as think`tank on Islamic issues in London. He's been

:04:09. > :04:11.told by HSBC that his personal and business accounts and those of his

:04:12. > :04:18.wife and two children will close in two months. He says the bank hasn't

:04:19. > :04:20.given him a proper explanation. Those organisations are mostly

:04:21. > :04:25.charities. The link is that many of them, if not all of them, are quite

:04:26. > :04:31.active on the case of Palestine, so I am left to speculate that this is

:04:32. > :04:41.why. And that would be a great shame if that were true. The Finsbury Park

:04:42. > :04:48.Mosque in North London and a bolt```` bolt`based charity were

:04:49. > :04:54.given notice that their accounts would be closed. The mosque made

:04:55. > :05:00.headline as decade ago because of its connections with rebel cleric

:05:01. > :05:05.Abu Hamza. The letters that we received and all the letters have

:05:06. > :05:09.that been sent clearly doesn't give an absolute reason to why it was

:05:10. > :05:14.closed in the first place, so it could lead us only to explain why

:05:15. > :05:17.there isn't reason given. We believe it is an Islamophobic campaign

:05:18. > :05:23.targeting Muslim charities in the UK. It is a good community mosque,

:05:24. > :05:27.good facilities, a nice vibe and the local community use the meeting

:05:28. > :05:31.rooms there. They've been happy to take money from the mosque in the

:05:32. > :05:35.last ten years. They need to explain why it is not acceptable for that

:05:36. > :05:38.mosque to barb with them. E in the last ten years. They need to explain

:05:39. > :05:55.why it is not acceptable for that mosque to barb with

:05:56. > :06:00.The Charity Commission has confirmed that it is not investigating any of

:06:01. > :06:04.the organisations involved, and says that if the charities don't have a

:06:05. > :06:11.relationship with a bank, it could harm public trust in their work.

:06:12. > :06:16.Big changes to West London's hospitals came a step closer today

:06:17. > :06:22.with the go`ahead given to plans which will see around half of

:06:23. > :06:30.Charing Cross and St Mary's hospitals sold off. Health bosses

:06:31. > :06:34.say care will improve, as our political correspondent reports.

:06:35. > :06:40.The chanting the posters and the leaflets are a familiar sight in

:06:41. > :06:46.knees parts of the capital. This has been a long`running campaign about

:06:47. > :06:54.huge changes to the hospitals. Plans to close or downgrade two A at

:06:55. > :06:58.Hammersmith and Charing Cross. They saved my husband's life. He had

:06:59. > :07:07.emergency surgery and was there for ten days. He was able to ask for

:07:08. > :07:12.advice whenever he wants. We've been campaigning. If you stand outside

:07:13. > :07:15.Charing Cross Hospital with a petition, thousands of people come

:07:16. > :07:21.up to you and say this hospital saved my life. It is part of a

:07:22. > :07:26.reshaping of services that will see other West London A go. It is not

:07:27. > :07:30.just Hammersmith and Central Middlesex but Charing Cross and

:07:31. > :07:34.Ealing. It is unprecedented. The biggest experiment in the NHS's

:07:35. > :07:39.history to take away this many. I think it is madness. Today the board

:07:40. > :07:46.of imperial healthcare voted through their plans. Money will be spent on

:07:47. > :07:50.new service but large parts of the Charing Cross and St Mary's slights

:07:51. > :07:53.be sold off to pay for it. They a range of facilities to keep people

:07:54. > :08:01.well, allow access to emergency care. At Hammersmith there'll be an

:08:02. > :08:05.urgent care centre. This is the sort of future health bosses are

:08:06. > :08:11.promising. Katie is in charge of cancer care at Imperial. At this

:08:12. > :08:16.centre patients can get all of their tests and consultations done in one

:08:17. > :08:23.day. Change is hard but I'm hoping if we can show what it could be

:08:24. > :08:27.like, that will enable people to show that the future is better than

:08:28. > :08:33.they've got now. Hammersmith A shuts in a month. Rebuilding work at

:08:34. > :08:39.Charing Cross and St Mary's will start in three months' time.

:08:40. > :08:44.It was a glorious today, temperatures into the mid 20s

:08:45. > :08:48.Celsius. Good evening, we had a bit of cloud

:08:49. > :08:54.in the morning but that broke up nicely. Through the morning plenty

:08:55. > :08:57.of cloud and suddenly clear skies. Temperatures rising into the mid 20s

:08:58. > :09:02.Celsius. This evening and overnight, another

:09:03. > :09:08.dry one. Light winds from the west. Cooler and fresher than the last few

:09:09. > :09:11.nights. 102015 in the capital. Sher than the last few nights. 102015 in

:09:12. > :09:12.the capital. Cool `` 15 in the capital.

:09:13. > :09:17.Tomorrow, another good day coming up. Plenty of sunshine. But low

:09:18. > :09:22.pressure starting to make inroads from the west. G up. Plenty of

:09:23. > :09:24.sunshine. But low pressure starting to make inroads from the west.

:09:25. > :09:32.Clouds will `` skies will cloud up in the afternoon. A few showers,

:09:33. > :09:34.heavy in the north of the region. 24`25

:09:35. > :09:38.heavy in the north of the region. 24-25

:09:39. > :09:45.Hello again. Will it be happy campers or happy gardeners? You get

:09:46. > :09:50.different responses when you mention rain at this time of the year. I

:09:51. > :09:53.will try to remain neutral and talk of an increasing chance of showers

:09:54. > :09:59.developing tomorrow. There'll be further mentions or rain for Friday

:10:00. > :10:02.and over the weekend. Most of the showers have been over northern

:10:03. > :10:05.parts but they will work southwards through tonight. And at the same

:10:06. > :10:06.time begin to turn
