:00:00. > :00:00.There's more throughout the evening on the BBC News Channel, we are back

:00:00. > :00:16.Now on BBC One it?s time for the news where you are. Goodbye.

:00:17. > :00:27.Police looking into the disappearance of 14 year old Alice

:00:28. > :00:30.Gross, say it's the biggest search operation the Met has undertaken

:00:31. > :00:32.The teenager went missing last month.

:00:33. > :00:47.Day 24 in the search for Alice Cross, and missing schoolgirl from

:00:48. > :00:52.London. And today four in the hunt for a Latvian builder and the prime

:00:53. > :01:11.suspect in her disappearance. On the day she went missing, Alice will

:01:12. > :01:22.seem crossing this bridge. It has emerged that in 1998, Arnis Zalkalns

:01:23. > :01:26.was accused of murdering his wife. Police have now searched two

:01:27. > :01:28.properties linked to him. This is now the largest search operation the

:01:29. > :01:35.Met have conducted since the 7/7 Met have conducted since the 7/

:01:36. > :01:36.bombings back in 2005. Officers from several different forces have been

:01:37. > :01:43.involved. They have searched 5.5 involved. They have searched 5.

:01:44. > :01:48.kilometres of canals and rivers as well as searching land and viewing

:01:49. > :01:51.hundreds of hours of CCTV footage. Today, officers have widened the

:01:52. > :01:57.area they are looking in. They are also looking -- asking anyone with

:01:58. > :02:01.CCTV in their home or who filmed anything in Ely and more Hanwell, to

:02:02. > :02:09.hand over their footage. Yellow ribbons and missing posters still

:02:10. > :02:10.adorn the streets here. Police say their search for Alice will not

:02:11. > :02:13.stop. Residents living in Stamford Hill

:02:14. > :02:20.have complained about posters asking women to walk on one side of the

:02:21. > :02:23.road. Police say the signs were put up

:02:24. > :02:26.in some local streets for the Torah Parade,

:02:27. > :02:27.a traditional Jewish festival Organisers of the parade have told

:02:28. > :02:32.police that next year they'll only be written in Hebrew and will be

:02:33. > :02:40.removed straight after the parade. There is a very strong feeling here

:02:41. > :02:46.that the public spaces must belong to everyone and that it is quite an

:02:47. > :02:47.acceptable to attempt to prohibit movement of any section of the

:02:48. > :02:50.population within the public space. Parents in Enfield are being told

:02:51. > :02:53.they're endangering the lives of children by stopping illegally

:02:54. > :02:55.outside the school gates. The council's been targeting

:02:56. > :02:58.a number of schools in the borough to encourage parents to park safely

:02:59. > :03:13.as Cordelia Hemming reports. Bold, bright and with one clear

:03:14. > :03:17.message. They are the lines which attempt to deter parents from

:03:18. > :03:21.dropping off their kids outside the school gate. Lines which are often

:03:22. > :03:27.ignored. They stopped in the middle of the road and let the children

:03:28. > :03:32.come out and run into the schools. It is unbelievable. I noticed

:03:33. > :03:37.dangerous, it should not happen but the school needs to provide some

:03:38. > :03:42.space for parents. I do not see why they should pull up anywhere they

:03:43. > :03:48.want. You have got to find a safe place. A gentle warning about the

:03:49. > :03:55.risks involved in dropping kids off on zigzag lines. On Monday these

:03:56. > :03:58.warnings will take the place of fixed penalty notices. It is

:03:59. > :04:03.important that parents take the message that they cannot park

:04:04. > :04:09.outside schools on zigzag lines. Enforcement action will be taken

:04:10. > :04:13.should they continue to do so. A recent poll found 44% of parents

:04:14. > :04:18.believe their children's lives are in danger at the school gates

:04:19. > :04:20.because of traffic speeds, congestion and inconsiderate

:04:21. > :04:25.parking. A few miles away in Hackney, this school has worked hard

:04:26. > :04:30.to ditch the car and take a greener approach. It has led to the majority

:04:31. > :04:34.of pupils coming by foot or by bike. They used to be lots of cars pulling

:04:35. > :04:41.up and that was dangerous for the children. We focused on asking

:04:42. > :04:45.people to walk to school or cycle to school so they did not cause that

:04:46. > :04:49.congestion outside. In Enfield, the school says the problem involves a

:04:50. > :04:50.minority of parents and hopes these mechanisms will encourage them to

:04:51. > :04:52.play by the rules. A quick look at the weather now and

:04:53. > :04:55.this evening there's still potential Drying out overnight,

:04:56. > :04:59.feeling fresher tomorrow That's it, we're back tomorrow.

:05:00. > :05:18.Enjoy your evening, bye-bye. Good evening. I think tomorrow

:05:19. > :05:21.should be a good day for getting out and about wherever you are. Sunny

:05:22. > :05:26.spells becoming more widespread for Sunday. You will notice a different

:05:27. > :05:31.feel to things, particularly across England and Wales where it has been

:05:32. > :05:40.on the multisite hence the thunderstorms. -- where it has been

:05:41. > :05:44.on the muggy side. There is a cold front coming in so it is introducing

:05:45. > :05:49.cooler air which will be fresher. But only just about reaching the

:05:50. > :05:53.south coast by the end of the night. As you go further north, certainly

:05:54. > :06:01.rural areas will have a chilly end to the night. Tomorrow, looking fair

:06:02. > :06:06.for pretty much all of us. A bit of a breeze blowing in through the East

:06:07. > :06:10.Coast. It is a dry story almost across the board. For central and

:06:11. > :06:12.western areas, feeling pleasant
