:01:50. > :01:53.girls were taken from the their school in Chibok in the North East
:01:54. > :01:55.of the country on the 14th of April. Our World Affairs Editor John

:02:46. > :02:55.crowd and told to give a Muslim name, rather than her Christian one.

:03:04. > :03:12.said to be flamboyant, clever and mocking, launches into a long

:03:24. > :03:28.they have become Muslims. This man is desperate for news of
:03:29. > :03:32.the girls. He has made the dangerous journey from Chibok where they were
:03:33. > :03:35.kidnapped, to Maiduguri. No fewer than six of his relatives were taken
:03:36. > :03:40.- sisters, nieces and cousins. But he cannot spot them in the video.
:03:41. > :03:45.This must be pretty shocking for you to see this. It is one of the most
:03:46. > :03:53.shocking moments I have ever found myself in. This is inhuman. There is
:03:54. > :03:56.no need for them to impose on them the Islamic religion. Everyone has
:03:57. > :04:09.the right to the Islamic religion. Everyone has
:04:10. > :04:13.to follow. Politicians here are furious with the federal government.
:04:14. > :04:16.They say that although Nigeria has one of Africa's biggest armies,
:04:17. > :04:19.nothing serious is being done to get the girls back. The federal
:04:20. > :04:23.government will say they are doing their best but we as parents and I,
:04:24. > :04:26.for example, as a representative of the people, would only say the
:04:27. > :04:29.government have done superbly well if the girls are back safe and
:04:30. > :04:35.healthy. No politician travels anywhere here without heavily armed
:04:36. > :04:44.escort. This is a silent and frightened city. The fact is Boko
:04:45. > :04:47.Haram has the upper hand in Borno state as a whole and its influence
:04:48. > :04:52.of power even here in the capital city, is certainly present. It looks
:04:53. > :04:55.as though the government, down in Abuja, simply doesn't care about any
:04:56. > :05:06.of this, any more than it seemed to put any effort at all into searching
:05:07. > :05:12.for the missing girls. The big question is, when Boko Haram
:05:13. > :05:16.suggests a swap, those Christian girls who refused to convert, in
:05:17. > :05:20.exchange for gorillas captured by the government, could this be the
:05:21. > :05:27.start of some kind of negotiation, or is it just talk?

:08:20. > :08:24.much higher than normal. They are several feet above the norm at the
:08:25. > :08:27.moment. This is where we believe those kayakers entered the water
:08:28. > :08:31.yesterday. Even with the river levels dropping, there is lots of
:08:32. > :08:36.Whitewater and rapids. Somewhere down river from here, those three
:08:37. > :08:40.men lost their lives. It was early this morning when searchers found
:08:41. > :08:46.the first evidence of yesterday's tragedy. A kayak was discovered and
:08:47. > :08:51.over the course of a few hours, three bodies were found and pulled
:08:52. > :08:55.from the water. What is not clear is exactly where a paddle down the
:08:56. > :09:00.river went wrong, resulting in the deaths of two brothers aged 40 and
:09:01. > :09:06.41 and their 36-year-old cousin. They were all from South Shields.
:09:07. > :09:10.The river was high and fast flowing. They are quite challenging
:09:11. > :09:15.conditions for anybody who wanted to kayak. The alarm was not raised
:09:16. > :09:19.until late last night. Today, boats and binoculars were aided by
:09:20. > :09:25.helicopters from the police and the RAF. By mid-morning, all three
:09:26. > :09:29.kayaks had been recovered by the fire and rescue service. One was
:09:30. > :09:37.tied to the roof of a fire engine. The suitability of these craft will
:09:38. > :09:43.be looked at in detail by the investigation. Police also said they
:09:44. > :09:47.found one of the kayak are's cars here and another downriver but a few
:09:48. > :09:53.miles into that journey something went disastrously wrong. We may
:09:54. > :09:56.never know exactly what happened, but the men were all wearing
