:00:11. > :00:19.In a day of sombre ceremony, the remains of some

:00:20. > :00:23.40 coffins are given military honours on a day

:00:24. > :00:36.It is a very important day for the people here and all the people. They

:00:37. > :00:39.want their children back. We'll be live in the Netherlands,

:00:40. > :00:42.and looking at a row brewing here The US Secretary

:00:43. > :00:46.of State flies to the Middle East, as the UN warns of possible war

:00:47. > :00:50.crimes in Gaza An inquest into as the UN warns of possible war

:00:51. > :00:53.crimes in Gaza. An inquest into the death of Peaches Geldof hears

:00:54. > :00:57.how she died of a heroin overdose. And I'm at Celtic Park in Glasgow,

:00:58. > :01:02.as the city prepares to host the 20th Commonwealth

:01:03. > :01:03.Games. The Opening Ceremony

:01:04. > :01:05.is just hours away. The Queen will officially declare

:01:06. > :01:08.the Games open, with more than one billion people expected to tune

:01:09. > :01:10.in from across the Commonwealth This morning the Queen's baton ended

:01:11. > :01:24.its journey here, Labelled a yuppy ghetto, the row

:01:25. > :01:28.over the lack of affordable homes in a luxury project backed by the mare

:01:29. > :01:31.and the mystery of allegations that the Met police fly spy planes over

:01:32. > :01:47.London. Good evening,

:01:48. > :01:50.and welcome to the BBC News at Six. A sombre official ceremony

:01:51. > :01:53.in the Netherlands has greeted 40 coffins containing remains

:01:54. > :01:56.from the victims of the Malaysian The Dutch have held a day

:01:57. > :02:03.of national mourning, and the investigation into the

:02:04. > :02:06.disaster is moving into a new phase, as British experts examine the

:02:07. > :02:08.plane's black box flight recorders. In a moment,

:02:09. > :02:10.our Europe Correspondent Matthew Price will have the latest

:02:11. > :02:14.from the Netherlands, but first, Daniel Sandford saw the planes take

:02:15. > :02:20.off in Eastern Ukraine. They died when Flight MH17

:02:21. > :02:26.was shot out of the sky. Today, in simple wooden coffins,

:02:27. > :02:33.the first 40 victims left Ukraine. It's an attempt by

:02:34. > :02:40.the Ukrainians to give some dignity to the departure of the passengers

:02:41. > :02:43.and crew of Flight MH17, whose lives were brutally cut short, in a war

:02:44. > :02:49.which has nothing do with them. The victims were being taken to

:02:50. > :02:54.the Netherlands for identification, before being returned to

:02:55. > :03:00.their families. But first,

:03:01. > :03:10.there was a minute's silence. Nobody yet knows whose relatives

:03:11. > :03:13.are in these coffins. They could be Dutch, Malaysian,

:03:14. > :03:15.Australian, Indonesian or British. They could be from Germany, Belgium,

:03:16. > :03:17.the Philippines, We need to remember that for each

:03:18. > :03:37.of those victims' bodies, there are grieving families,

:03:38. > :03:39.grieving friends, and for each of those victims' bodies there is a

:03:40. > :03:43.life that has been needlessly lost. As international investigators

:03:44. > :03:45.cautiously examined the scene of the tragedy this afternoon, the shooting

:03:46. > :03:49.down of two Ukrainian fighter jets just a few miles away was a reminder

:03:50. > :03:54.of the dangers of working here. And as the first victims' bodies

:03:55. > :03:57.left for the Netherlands, it is worth remembering that dozens

:03:58. > :04:28.are still missing in the charred Out of a sweltering sky they flew

:04:29. > :04:33.back in. With the Dutch Air Force, and the Australian. Two countries

:04:34. > :04:34.who lost so many. This was not the return anyone

:04:35. > :04:49.imagined. The Last Post. And a country fell

:04:50. > :05:13.silent. One by one, they brought them out.

:05:14. > :05:17.Yet to be identified. Here, perhaps a holiday-maker, once excited about

:05:18. > :05:29.their trip to distant shores. Here, maybe someone on a business

:05:30. > :05:33.trip. A student, on a gap year. 40 coffins, 40 body bags.

:05:34. > :05:43.And so many more yet to fly out of Ukraine.

:05:44. > :05:51.In towns and city, they marked the return. This has affected so many

:05:52. > :05:56.here, and elsewhere round the world. It's very black day for everybody.

:05:57. > :06:00.Especially for people from this part of the country. A lot of people

:06:01. > :06:06.were, I think, 80 or 90 people come from this part of the country. There

:06:07. > :06:13.are so many innocent people has been killed by political idiots.

:06:14. > :06:17.Terrorists. That make us very angry. And then, with full honour, the

:06:18. > :06:22.convoy set off. Some, the Prime Minister said, would be identified

:06:23. > :06:28.quickly. With others, it could take months.

:06:29. > :06:32.Outside the airfield, hundreds watched. Thes heres heading north,

:06:33. > :06:37.where the grim task of going through each coffin will begin. Many more

:06:38. > :06:42.will follow this route in the coming day, watched by a nation shattered

:06:43. > :06:49.and grieving. This, though, brings no closure. It only makes each and

:06:50. > :06:55.every death more real. And here it is almost as if that

:06:56. > :06:59.silence that was held at Eindhoven air base behind me is rippling out

:07:00. > :07:04.across the country, because there are hundreds, thousands of people

:07:05. > :07:10.lining the route, as those cars are driven north, and they are falling

:07:11. > :07:14.silent as the cars pass, they are standing on bridge, on overpasses,

:07:15. > :07:19.on cycle lanes along the roads, the cars on the other side of the

:07:20. > :07:23.motorway are pulling to a halt in respect, and watching as those first

:07:24. > :07:28.40 coffins drive past. I think it is a measure of quite how affected so

:07:29. > :07:33.many people in the Netherlands have been by this disaster.

:07:34. > :07:35.David Cameron has said the government will look carefully at

:07:36. > :07:38.all outstanding arms export licences to Russia, to make sure they comply

:07:39. > :07:44.with an arms embargo announced in March. There've been mounting

:07:45. > :07:47.questions over why more than 250 licences are still in place, given

:07:48. > :07:50.concerns that Moscow is supplying weapons to the rebels in Ukraine.

:07:51. > :07:53.David Cameron is also under fire over a ?160,000 donation to his

:07:54. > :07:57.party from the wife of a former member of President Putin's

:07:58. > :08:00.donation to his party from the wife of a former member

:08:01. > :08:05.Our deputy political editor James Landale reports.

:08:06. > :08:11.David Cameron wants tougher sanctions against Moscow, and those

:08:12. > :08:14.he calls President Putin's crone Chrises but today whizz asked why

:08:15. > :08:20.Britain is still selling arms to Russia and the Tories are still

:08:21. > :08:25.taking cash from Russian businessmen. Back in March the

:08:26. > :08:29.policy was clear The UK will now, with immediate effect, suspend all

:08:30. > :08:31.licences and application processing for licenses,

:08:32. > :08:36.licences and application processing Russia. But today, a committee of

:08:37. > :08:41.MPs said that military kit is still being exported to Russia, in all

:08:42. > :08:45.more than 280 licenses worth ?132 million for things like rifles.

:08:46. > :08:49.Night sights and missiles. The Government said some was for

:08:50. > :08:53.civilian use, others for Brazilian warships being fitted out in Russia.

:08:54. > :09:00.I believe that we have been consistent with the terms of the

:09:01. > :09:04.arms embargo we set out which was aimed at Russian armed forces, but

:09:05. > :09:08.we will look carefully at all outstanding licenses and make sure

:09:09. > :09:12.that is the case, course if it is not the case we will act swiftly.

:09:13. > :09:14.But MPs said this wasn't good enough and have written to the Prime

:09:15. > :09:20.Minister asking who the weapons are for? They can't be brushed off for

:09:21. > :09:27.the Brazilian navy, they can't be brushed off for the Government has

:09:28. > :09:30.tried do for clay pigeon shooting. Anybody who looks at that 14 page

:09:31. > :09:35.list, which was published in our report today, can only come to one

:09:36. > :09:38.conclusion, this includes a significant amount of serious

:09:39. > :09:43.military weaponry. But David Cameron is not just facing questions about

:09:44. > :09:47.arms sales to Russia. He has also been asked about donation to his

:09:48. > :09:50.party by wealthy Russian, particularly some who attended a big

:09:51. > :09:54.fund-raiser at this private club in west London earlier this month. Top

:09:55. > :09:59.of the auction list was the chance to play tennis with David Cameron,

:10:00. > :10:05.and Boris Johnson, a prize that was won by a wealthy Russian. He paid

:10:06. > :10:08.more than 160,00 pounds for the privilege, her husband was once a

:10:09. > :10:11.minister in Vladimir Putin's Government but has backed the

:10:12. > :10:17.opposition since he was sacked. And they are not alone, since 2010

:10:18. > :10:23.Russian born businessmen have given the Tories more than ?1 million, all

:10:24. > :10:26.within the rules. But Labour, said Mr Cameron has questioned to answer.

:10:27. > :10:30.He has got to explain why he thinks that is the right thing to do and

:10:31. > :10:33.tell us what background check he's done personally, because I think

:10:34. > :10:37.otherwise, people in this country will conclude that when he attacks

:10:38. > :10:40.President Putin he wants to have his caviar and eat it. The Tories said

:10:41. > :10:45.they wouldn't be giving the money back, but the questions haven't made

:10:46. > :10:53.Mr Cameron's aim of toughening sanctions against Russia any easier.

:10:54. > :10:56.An inquest into the death of the TV presenter Peaches Geldof has heard

:10:57. > :10:58.how she died of a heroin overdose after losing

:10:59. > :11:02.At the hearing, her husband said she'd started taken heroin again

:11:03. > :11:05.in the months before her death, after being on the substitute drug

:11:06. > :11:13.It was her husband Tom, who found Peaches Geldof, and who today gave

:11:14. > :11:17.the inquest a harrowing insight into her years of heroin addiction.

:11:18. > :11:22.An addiction she even lied to him about.

:11:23. > :11:25.There is no way I'm going to beat this.

:11:26. > :11:29.The hearing was told the 25-year-old broadcaster tried to

:11:30. > :11:31.come off heroin, but two months before she died she'd

:11:32. > :11:38.In the inquest, her husband Tom was asked if she was a heroin addict.

:11:39. > :11:52.The coroner then asked about her lies over weekly drugs test.

:11:53. > :11:57.Tom Cohen also told the hearing of seeing Peaches flush heroin down

:11:58. > :12:02.a toilet here, and of discovering her body surrounded by a needle,

:12:03. > :12:06.burnt spoon and knotted tights - the kit of a heroin addict.

:12:07. > :12:09.The hearing heard that Peaches probably hadn't intended to kill

:12:10. > :12:14.herself, but that she had taken exceptionally pure heroin.

:12:15. > :12:17.In another room, her baby son Phaedra was found alone,

:12:18. > :12:23.Sir Bob Geldof wasn't at today's hearing, but spoke recently

:12:24. > :12:34.I'm walking down the road and suddenly out of the blue,

:12:35. > :12:40.there's an awareness of her, and you know, I buckle.

:12:41. > :12:43.The coroner today referred to Paula Yates Peaches' mother, who died

:12:44. > :12:49.from heroin 14 years ago, asking if history was repeating itself.

:12:50. > :12:53.He said no-one will ever know why Peaches went back to the drug,

:12:54. > :13:03.but it was a decision that cost her her life.

:13:04. > :13:06.The family of an Asian student who went missing seventeen years ago,

:13:07. > :13:09.and who was eventually found dead, say they've been told they were

:13:10. > :13:11.spied on by undercover officers from Scotland Yard.

:13:12. > :13:13.It happened as the family of Ricky Reel were campaigning

:13:14. > :13:24.for the police to treat their son's death as murder.

:13:25. > :13:30.Ricky Reel, a university student was 20 when his life ended.

:13:31. > :13:36.This was the last time he Wes seen alive, caught alone on CCTV on a

:13:37. > :13:40.night out in Kingston in south-west London in 197. Just before this he

:13:41. > :13:45.had been with some friend and they had been attacked and racially abuse

:13:46. > :13:50.by two white men. A week late Ericy's body was found in the River

:13:51. > :13:54.Thames. The police said his death was probably an accident. His family

:13:55. > :13:57.campaigned for it to be treated as murder.

:13:58. > :14:03.Now, his mother says she has been told by a senior officer that on

:14:04. > :14:06.five occasions in the late 90s undercover police spied on her, as

:14:07. > :14:09.she campaigned for justice for her son.

:14:10. > :14:13.This was happening at time when we were feeling very low. The family

:14:14. > :14:17.was really torn apart. And I just sort of feel what were they trying

:14:18. > :14:22.to do, to see how Groved we were? This was the time we should have

:14:23. > :14:25.been left alone. -- grieved. To grieve for our son instead of being

:14:26. > :14:30.spied on. The family and their supporters were

:14:31. > :14:36.highly critical of the rigour of the police inquiry. There were two

:14:37. > :14:40.investigations, neither of them established how he died. Meanwhile

:14:41. > :14:45.officers with gathering intelligence on his mother. Earlier this year it

:14:46. > :14:47.was Cop confirmed the parents of the murdered black teenager Steven

:14:48. > :14:52.Lawrence Steven Lawrence were spied on by the police. The Scotland Yard

:14:53. > :14:56.unit monitoring the Lawrences was called the SDS. The same unit was

:14:57. > :15:03.gathering intelligence on Ricky Reel's mother. Campaigners are

:15:04. > :15:10.horrified. I think they need to ensure there isn't more spying on

:15:11. > :15:15.families like that, and the first real gesture that needs to take

:15:16. > :15:20.place is for the police to come open and explain who these officers were,

:15:21. > :15:24.and exactly what their remits were. Tonight, no comment from Scotland

:15:25. > :15:28.Yard which is currently subject to an inquiry into undercover policing.

:15:29. > :15:32.The senior officer heading that inquiry criticised the force, he

:15:33. > :15:35.didn't name any families, but he said information had been kept after

:15:36. > :15:38.being gathered by undercover officers.

:15:39. > :15:39.It was information which served no purpose in preventing crime, or

:15:40. > :15:49.disorder. The first bodies from the Malaysian

:15:50. > :15:59.airline crash in Eastern Ukraine And coming up the stage is set

:16:00. > :16:03.for the Commonwealth Games - I'll The opening ceremony is about to get

:16:04. > :16:09.underway. Businesses say it's

:16:10. > :16:13.a scandal that so few crimes And a personal view

:16:14. > :16:17.on how to end the capital's housing crisis - the call to stop companies

:16:18. > :16:19.buying up land Israel may be committing war crimes

:16:20. > :16:28.in Gaza, according to the UN Human Rights Commissioner, by not

:16:29. > :16:34.doing enough to protect civilians. Navi Pillay also condemned Hamas for

:16:35. > :16:40.indiscriminate attacks on Israel. It came as the US Secretary of

:16:41. > :16:43.State John Kerry said mediators had made some progress in efforts to end

:16:44. > :16:46.the fighting between the two sides. Gaza's health ministry says 678

:16:47. > :16:49.Palestinians have now been killed 32 Israeli soldiers have been

:16:50. > :16:56.killed over the same period. Flights from a number of airlines to

:16:57. > :16:59.Israel's main international airport remained suspended - and within

:17:00. > :17:01.the last hour the American authorities have extended their

:17:02. > :17:05.restrictions for another 24 hours. Our Middle East correspondent

:17:06. > :17:24.Quentin Sommerville sent this A cloud of smoke means another

:17:25. > :17:28.Israeli air strike in Gaza city. Here the ambulances never stop and

:17:29. > :17:32.stretcher follows stretcher. At least two people were killed and

:17:33. > :17:38.many injured including children when a shell landed near a mosque just

:17:39. > :17:41.after noon. TRANSLATION: God protect us, we are dying at nobody is

:17:42. > :17:46.checking on us. The world, please protect us, please stop this

:17:47. > :17:53.aggression. In Israel another soldier's funeral, this four Max

:17:54. > :17:56.Steinberg, who was killed in an assault against Hamas. As the losses

:17:57. > :18:01.mount the crowds of mourners grow here. Israel is united in its

:18:02. > :18:07.support for the war. Tens of thousands came to pay their

:18:08. > :18:13.respects. And Page Steinberg came to remember her brother. As your little

:18:14. > :18:17.sister I've always thought the world of you but I never thought I would

:18:18. > :18:21.be standing with this many people who understood how incredibly strong

:18:22. > :18:27.you are. Words cannot express how proud I am of the man he became. And

:18:28. > :18:32.Israel is counting the costs in other ways. At the country's main

:18:33. > :18:36.airport there was a lot of waiting and plenty of worry. Dozens of

:18:37. > :18:41.flights were cancelled here after a rocket attack by Hamas. The Hamas

:18:42. > :18:45.rocket landed about one mile away and did not actually hit the airport

:18:46. > :18:48.but the militants have scored a huge victory. Israel says the world is

:18:49. > :18:53.submitting to terrorism and it should be Hamas rockets that are

:18:54. > :18:58.grounded and not passenger aircraft. John Kerry's plane was one that

:18:59. > :19:02.managed to land in Israel, pushing for a cease-fire he is trying to

:19:03. > :19:07.unite the Arab world and reach an agreement with Israel. In the

:19:08. > :19:11.occupied West Bank he met the Palestinian President. So we will

:19:12. > :19:16.continue to push for this cease-fire. We will continue to work

:19:17. > :19:20.with President Abbas and others in the region in order to achieve it.

:19:21. > :19:24.And I can tell you that we have, in the last 24 hours, made some

:19:25. > :19:31.progress in moving towards that goal. But it seems progress to a

:19:32. > :19:32.truce isn't moving fast. While the offensive in Gaza continues with

:19:33. > :19:38.terrifying force. Now, the opening ceremony for the

:19:39. > :19:49.Commonwealth Games gets underway in Welcome to Celtic Park where later

:19:50. > :20:01.this evening the Queen will officially declare the Commonwealth

:20:02. > :20:03.Games open. will parade through here during an

:20:04. > :20:07.opening ceremony that we're promised will surprise, delight and be

:20:08. > :20:09.uniquely Glaswegian and Scottish. In fact it's such a closely guarded

:20:10. > :20:13.secret that I'm not allowed to show you any of the stage behind me. But

:20:14. > :20:16.more than a billion people are expected to tune in. Lorna Gordon

:20:17. > :20:26.reports on what we can expect from It contains a message to the

:20:27. > :20:29.Commonwealth from the Queen. This pattern has travelled the globe for

:20:30. > :20:36.almost a year but its journey is almost over. Alaska's cap next macro

:20:37. > :20:39.games are costing nearly ?500 million but politicians have united

:20:40. > :20:44.behind them because of the positive effect they think the event will

:20:45. > :20:47.bring. The atmosphere in Glasgow is extraordinary. People are going

:20:48. > :20:53.around with smiles on their face and you can actually touch the positive

:20:54. > :20:56.atmosphere. It's not a day to talk about the referendum or politics, it

:20:57. > :21:01.is a time to celebrate that for seven days Glasgow will be in the

:21:02. > :21:04.world spotlight. Competitors from 71 Commonwealth countries and

:21:05. > :21:09.territories will be participating in a city transformed. The Duke and

:21:10. > :21:15.Duchess of Rothesay were touring the venues today and enjoying a flavour

:21:16. > :21:18.of the action to come. More than 1 million tickets for the Games have

:21:19. > :21:22.been sold and there has been a last-minute dash for those remaining

:21:23. > :21:27.or uncollected. The opening ceremony and 100 meter finals. They must be

:21:28. > :21:33.considered Golding tickets. I don't know, I hope my daughter appreciates

:21:34. > :21:37.it! Organisers say they are not worried about empty seats. Most of

:21:38. > :21:40.the sports, for example netball, you cannot get tickets for love nor

:21:41. > :21:44.money. We have a mechanism in place to make sure the few seats that may

:21:45. > :21:49.be empty field by members of the public at the time. Some events will

:21:50. > :21:53.be open to all. The cyclists from Swaziland finding their rhythm ahead

:21:54. > :21:58.of the road race. We are somewhere over here coming up to St Vincent

:21:59. > :22:06.Street. This is down, what is the street called? Buchanan Street. Are

:22:07. > :22:11.you trying to work out the route? We are a little bit lost. Glasgow is

:22:12. > :22:15.celebrating. There are parties aplenty this evening. This is the

:22:16. > :22:18.city's moment to shine. These can next macro games come at an

:22:19. > :22:21.important time for Scotland, in less than two months Scotland will vote

:22:22. > :22:27.on a referendum for independence. For the next few days though the

:22:28. > :22:28.focus will be on the sport and putting on a good show rather than

:22:29. > :22:31.politics. All the sporting action gets

:22:32. > :22:38.underway tomorrow with key events in 4,500 athletes and para-athletes

:22:39. > :22:51.from 71 nations and territories will 17 sports over the next 11 days.

:22:52. > :22:55.Among them will be familiar faces from the London Olympics as well as

:22:56. > :22:58.some new stars of the future. Natalie Pirks has been talking to

:22:59. > :23:06.some of the athletes tipped for The events are familiar, the face is

:23:07. > :23:11.well-known, but this is no Olympics Mark two. For so long considered the

:23:12. > :23:14.poor relation organisers are adamant this smorgasbord of sport will

:23:15. > :23:20.showcase some of the world's best athletes. England's team was

:23:21. > :23:24.officially welcomed to the Athletes' Village, and amongst them the

:23:25. > :23:29.megawatt smile of history maker. Nicola Adams's fast fists catapulted

:23:30. > :23:35.her to stardom in 2012. She has just made history X Mac with women's

:23:36. > :23:39.boxing finally on the menu here she told me she now wants to repeat the

:23:40. > :23:47.trick. It would mean the world to me. Just the thought of being able

:23:48. > :23:50.to be the first female to make history in the Commonwealth Games,

:23:51. > :23:54.I've already done it in the Olympics and it is just a really nice

:23:55. > :23:59.feeling, especially because I'm so passionate about boxing and sport.

:24:00. > :24:02.Passion won't be lacking tomorrow either when Poster boy Michael

:24:03. > :24:06.Jamieson looks to win one of the Scotland's first medals in the pool.

:24:07. > :24:12.The Olympic silver medallist is racing in his hometown. It is going

:24:13. > :24:16.to be brilliant. We don't often get the chance to represent our home

:24:17. > :24:21.nation. The Scots are a small but very proud nation. This is a huge

:24:22. > :24:30.event for the city and for Scotland as a country. The country's home of

:24:31. > :24:33.football is ready too, transformed and known for the world-renowned

:24:34. > :24:38.atmosphere. Come Sunday over a thousand athletes will experience

:24:39. > :24:42.the famous Hampden Park raw, Mo Farah, Usain Bolt, although in a

:24:43. > :24:46.blink and you'll miss it relay role. For some, the Commonwealth Games

:24:47. > :24:51.medal is the last missing piece of the jigsaw. His blistering turn of

:24:52. > :24:56.pace left the rest but dust. How quick will it be? David Rhodesia's

:24:57. > :25:05.800 meter win was one of the best of all time. That's the world record!

:25:06. > :25:08.It will be a highlight. The only Championships medal I'm missing is

:25:09. > :25:14.the Commonwealth Games. It is going to be exciting and I'm looking

:25:15. > :25:18.forward to a good race. The city is basking in the heat of late summer.

:25:19. > :25:24.Glasgow now believes the athletes will deliver a Games as golden.

:25:25. > :25:31.So Glasgow is just hours away from hosting what's being called

:25:32. > :25:32."Scotland's biggest ever sporting party".

:25:33. > :25:36.ready for this moment for years now and people are arriving from right

:25:37. > :25:41.across the Commonwealth to enjoy the party.

:25:42. > :25:49.I've been out hearing from SMX biting -- some excited spectators.

:25:50. > :25:52.It's all about the Big G - Glasgow, the Games, and it looks

:25:53. > :25:56.like plenty of people want to be part of it. They are pouring into

:25:57. > :26:05.to soak up the atmosphere and even the weather is playing ball.

:26:06. > :26:08.fabulous and the weather and everybody is smiling and happy.

:26:09. > :26:12.Everybody seems buzzing because of the Games so it is good to see

:26:13. > :26:15.things coming together just because it has been so long.

:26:16. > :26:22.been seven years since Glasgow secured

:26:23. > :26:33.Those in tourism say it has drawn in hundreds of thousands of people and

:26:34. > :26:39.see the whole city has dissolved into a festival of fun and

:26:40. > :26:43.going forward in terms of tourism it is the people that are on show.

:26:44. > :26:47.Many have come from all corners of the Commonwealth, rugby fields have

:26:48. > :26:49.been turned into pop-up campsites to accommodate them.

:26:50. > :26:57.about 34 hours flying to get here, so excited to be here and to

:26:58. > :27:02.some kind of famous faces. I'm sure we'll be able to pick

:27:03. > :27:08.them out in the parade at the Opening Ceremony. Definitely, it is

:27:09. > :27:10.bringing everyone together, so it is good fun.

:27:11. > :27:14.atmosphere. You cannot get better than a field full of volunteers and

:27:15. > :27:17.eventually there will be spectators here as well. It will be a big

:27:18. > :27:23.as they are called, will be the friendly faces of these games,

:27:24. > :27:25.making sure that spectators and athletes alike enjoy Glasgow's big

:27:26. > :27:36.It has been so hot in Glasgow, is it going to last?

:27:37. > :27:40.Perfect for the opening ceremony. It has been 26 to Greece in Glasgow and

:27:41. > :27:44.still warm this evening. It looks like it will be dry and they will be

:27:45. > :27:49.lots of sunshine. It has been hot elsewhere in Scotland, the hottest

:27:50. > :27:51.day of the year so far and in Northern Ireland. Similar

:27:52. > :27:54.temperatures across southern England which has sparked one or two

:27:55. > :27:58.thundery showers travelling west moving into the West Country and

:27:59. > :28:02.into South Wales and lingering overnight in Devon and Cornwall. One

:28:03. > :28:05.or two thundery ones consuming here, although it will be bright

:28:06. > :28:08.elsewhere and it will be a warm night and we will see low cloud and

:28:09. > :28:12.misty weather coming back into the central belt coming onto the

:28:13. > :28:15.Pennines. Not so much through the Midlands and the low cloud will be

:28:16. > :28:18.burned back towards some of the North Sea coasts. Lots of sunshine

:28:19. > :28:23.elsewhere but the cloud will look rather menacing in the south-west.

:28:24. > :28:27.Again, here we could pop off one or two thundery downpours, particularly

:28:28. > :28:30.in the afternoon. Mainly Devon and Cornwall but cannot rule one out as

:28:31. > :28:35.far across as Hampshire and Sussex but lots of places will be dry

:28:36. > :28:40.across the South, 27-29? again, almost as warm as that further north

:28:41. > :28:43.and another one day for Northern Ireland. The odd shower fought

:28:44. > :28:47.manner and Tyrone. Should be driver Scotland, the mid-20s for the first

:28:48. > :28:51.day of competition will stock cooler around the North Sea coasts, mind

:28:52. > :28:55.you. Similar picture on Friday, bit of a great start and some low clouds

:28:56. > :28:59.near the North Sea coasts and the north-east. Very warm and sunny and

:29:00. > :29:02.one or two showers in Scotland but later in the day across southern

:29:03. > :29:06.England as well. Things will change in the weekend. In between the high

:29:07. > :29:09.pressure we get a weather front pushing south-eastwards across the

:29:10. > :29:12.whole of the country with high pressure building behind leaving us

:29:13. > :29:20.with a northerly breeze. That means they will be some sunshine in

:29:21. > :29:22.between a band of heavy and thundery showers and it will be notably

:29:23. > :29:23.fresher with temperatures not as high as today.
