:01:39. > :01:45.The former England footballer Adam Johnson

:01:46. > :01:47.has been found guilty of sexual activity with a child.

:01:48. > :01:50.The jury at Bradford Crown Court found him not guilty of another

:01:51. > :01:53.count but the judge said he almost certainly faces a prison sentence.

:01:54. > :01:55.The case relates to a meeting between 28-year-old Johnson

:01:56. > :01:59.Our correspondent Ed Thomas has been following the trial for us

:02:00. > :02:15.George, as that word guilty was read out in court, there was no emotion,

:02:16. > :02:23.no reaction from Adam Johnson. He stared straight forward. Other, he

:02:24. > :02:27.told the court that he had -- earlier, he said he had more money

:02:28. > :02:32.than he knew what to do with. He left the court a child sex attacker.

:02:33. > :02:42.He was a ?10 million England footballer. And in his own words,

:02:43. > :02:48.Adam Johnson said he was a rich, arrogant man. Things came easily, he

:02:49. > :02:52.said. One night, driven by boredom, he was alone with a 15-year-old

:02:53. > :02:57.girl. He met the girl alone in this car park. A Sunderland fanatic, she

:02:58. > :03:07.idolised Johnson. To prove that he met her, she recorded their meeting.

:03:08. > :03:13.Innocent football talk, but what came next was a sexual offence

:03:14. > :03:20.against a child. What happened in his car has turned my life upside

:03:21. > :03:25.down. This statement was written by Johnson's 15-year-old victim. I have

:03:26. > :03:28.lost all my confidence and my schoolwork has suffered. People have

:03:29. > :03:34.made assumptions about me, and this alone has been hard to deal with. I

:03:35. > :03:40.have been unable to defend myself publicly. Adam Johnson knew that the

:03:41. > :03:44.schoolgirl adored him. In one message, he asked, where do you go

:03:45. > :03:51.out? The child answered, I'm not old enough to go out. Johnson replied,

:03:52. > :03:55.yeah, but you look old enough. After one meeting, he message, that was

:03:56. > :04:02.class, just wanted to get your jeans off, love. It was described in court

:04:03. > :04:08.as classic grooming. When he was arrested, detectives said Johnson

:04:09. > :04:11.shook with fear. On the 4th of May 2015, Adam Johnson was called in for

:04:12. > :04:19.a meeting at Sunderland football club. In it, he had omitted kissing

:04:20. > :04:26.and grooming the child. His suspension was lifted and he was

:04:27. > :04:28.allowed to play. -- he had admitted. Again and again, the footballer

:04:29. > :04:37.walked out to represent Sunderland, despite those statements in public.

:04:38. > :04:42.He denied he had kissed the girl. Every time Adam Johnson went on to

:04:43. > :04:46.this page, the 15-year-old girl suffered excruciating pain. For a

:04:47. > :04:53.year, she was called a liar, and that one point she broke down and

:04:54. > :04:59.told her father she wanted to die. Some supporters feel cheated. At

:05:00. > :05:04.first, he had done nothing wrong and then lied to the fans. Would you

:05:05. > :05:10.have supported him if you had known what he did? Know. Would you have

:05:11. > :05:14.wanted him on your pitch? No. Mr Johnson, you have never apologised

:05:15. > :05:19.to this 15-year-old girl. Will you do it now? There were no apologies

:05:20. > :05:21.from Adam Johnson inside court or outside. The millionaire footballer

:05:22. > :05:30.who thought he could do what he wanted. George, this trial has

:05:31. > :05:33.exposed a darker side of football. There was an intense focus on what

:05:34. > :05:37.Sunderland football club knew did not know. We have had a detailed

:05:38. > :05:41.statement from the club. In that, they revert to that main meeting. A

:05:42. > :05:45.say that in the meeting Adam Johnson did not indicate he was going to

:05:46. > :05:49.plead guilty to any charges. The statement goes on to say, if they

:05:50. > :05:53.had known, they would have sacked Johnson on the spot. As for this

:05:54. > :05:57.former footballer, he will be back in court to be sentenced. He has

:05:58. > :05:59.been warned by the judge to expect jail.

:06:00. > :06:03.Many thanks, Ed. The busiest day in America's

:06:04. > :06:04.long election trail, has left Donald Trump

:06:05. > :06:07.for the Republicans and Hilary Clinton for

:06:08. > :06:09.the Democratic Party to go head to head for

:06:10. > :06:13.the White House later this year. Our North American Editor Jon Sopel

:06:14. > :06:15.has been following both candidates The next president

:06:16. > :06:26.of the United States! Campaigning in Ohio,

:06:27. > :06:35.he had the air of a man who whatever the elements might

:06:36. > :06:38.throw at him, was going to prevail. So at his victory party

:06:39. > :06:40.last night in Florida, I know people are going to find that

:06:41. > :06:46.a little bit hard to believe, I think we're going

:06:47. > :06:55.to be more unified. I think we're going to be

:06:56. > :06:58.able to unify the party. I hope to be able to get

:06:59. > :07:00.along with everybody. And on some key policies

:07:01. > :07:03.like immigration, he seemed to be But it was the Republican Party

:07:04. > :07:06.leadership he was most notably And yes, his new

:07:07. > :07:09.favourite word again. I would love to see

:07:10. > :07:13.the Republican Party and everybody And when we unify there's nobody,

:07:14. > :07:29.nobody, that is going to beat us. This has been toned down,

:07:30. > :07:35.much more conciliatory Donald Trump at his news conference,

:07:36. > :07:37.stressing that he is a unifier Gone were the sharp

:07:38. > :07:40.attacks on his rivals. It is almost as though

:07:41. > :07:43.he is looking beyond this process to when he is the

:07:44. > :07:45.Republican nominee. This man is arithmetically best

:07:46. > :07:48.place. This man is arithmetically

:07:49. > :07:55.best placed. Senator Ted Cruz won three states

:07:56. > :07:59.last night and to the other
