:00:53. > :00:59.vegetative state after he was attacked by a loyalist gang in a

:00:59. > :01:06.sectarian assault five years ago. He was attending a barbecue in a

:01:06. > :01:09.house garden in the Waterside. The loyalist gang attacked a number of

:01:09. > :01:19.people at the barbecue. Paul McCauley suffered serious head

:01:19. > :01:23.injuries. Only one man has been convicted of the attack. Dorrell

:01:23. > :01:25.proctor. He was 18 at the time and is currently serving a 12-year

:01:25. > :01:35.sentence for his part in the assault. Paul McCauley's father

:01:38. > :01:41.hopes the appeal will generate new information. Anybody left in that

:01:41. > :01:44.situation, you would not let a murder gang walk free. He was left

:01:44. > :01:49.for dead. He was resuscitated three times. I feel the police and
