0:00:12 > 0:00:17Good evening. This is BBC Newsline with Donna Traynor and Mark

0:00:17 > 0:00:20Carruthers. The headlines this Monday evening. Business and union

0:00:20 > 0:00:28leaders meet over the world debt crisis.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31But the Finance Minister says there's not much room for manoeuvre.

0:00:31 > 0:00:35That does not mean we should throw up our hands and surrender and say,

0:00:35 > 0:00:38nothing we can do about this, bury our heads in the sand and hope it

0:00:38 > 0:00:41goes away. Three men appear in court charged

0:00:41 > 0:00:43with the attempted murder of a teenager in Antrim.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46The GAA referee in a critical condition after collapsing during a

0:00:46 > 0:00:51match in Newry. Was an oil spill at a big motor

0:00:51 > 0:00:56bike race at the weekend deliberate sabotage?

0:00:57 > 0:01:01And is this the man to stop the exodus of young Northern Ireland

0:01:01 > 0:01:04footballers to the Republic? And summer seems to be on hold for

0:01:04 > 0:01:07most of this week - tomorrow though is the exception. I'll have all the

0:01:07 > 0:01:09weather for you later in the programme.

0:01:09 > 0:01:15The Finance Minister says he will make protecting jobs his priority

0:01:15 > 0:01:17in the face of continuing worries about the world economy.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20Sammy Wilson chaired a meeting of business and union leaders this

0:01:20 > 0:01:25morning, but admitted there is little the Executive at Stormont

0:01:25 > 0:01:29can really do. We'll be hearing from him shortly.

0:01:29 > 0:01:34The turmoil on the international markets is all related to the huge

0:01:34 > 0:01:37amounts of debt which have built up in many economies, including ours.

0:01:37 > 0:01:42BBC Newsline's Natasha Sayee has been looking at the debt problems

0:01:42 > 0:01:49which run from the high street to high finance.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52Cast your mind back to the boom times around four years ago. We

0:01:53 > 0:01:56talked about the huge increases in the value of houses, credit was

0:01:57 > 0:02:02cheap, shopping centres were flourishing. Victoria Square had

0:02:02 > 0:02:07just opened and for some, it's 1,000 humpbacks were within reach

0:02:07 > 0:02:11and if you could not afford it, but it on the expanding plastic --

0:02:11 > 0:02:16handbags. But the credit crunch and recession changed that and it is

0:02:16 > 0:02:21now a different world. In the good old days, we ran up huge personal

0:02:21 > 0:02:25debt because it was cheap and easy to borrow money. But now we have to

0:02:25 > 0:02:29pay it back and we are spending less and are worried about the

0:02:29 > 0:02:33future, and that means we are keeping a tighter eye on the purse

0:02:33 > 0:02:37strings. There is obviously less money around and the cost of living

0:02:37 > 0:02:41is more expensive so everyone is generally watching what they are

0:02:41 > 0:02:46spending and how they are spending, spending smarter probably.

0:02:46 > 0:02:53spending as much and cutting back on a few things. I do not shop as

0:02:53 > 0:02:58much as I used to. You look for finish you do need, what is the

0:02:58 > 0:03:02point of spending your money when you need it? The belt-tightening is

0:03:02 > 0:03:08affecting us all and some businesses are tightening. This is

0:03:08 > 0:03:14noticeable in the shops. In Castle Court, fought for his down and some

0:03:14 > 0:03:19stores are taking in less and the store is up for half the value it

0:03:19 > 0:03:23was for sale at a few years ago. Were an people do not spend money,

0:03:23 > 0:03:27that creates difficulties for businesses -- when people. Business

0:03:28 > 0:03:33costs are going up and they are in the squeeze. They want more people

0:03:33 > 0:03:37to spend and keep prices down so people will continue to buy, but

0:03:37 > 0:03:43their costs are also going up. So it is a difficult balance for

0:03:43 > 0:03:48retailers. So with consumers, banks and businesses weighed down by debt,

0:03:48 > 0:03:51economic activity has dropped and ironically, to plug the hole,

0:03:51 > 0:03:54governments across the Western world borrowed more. But the

0:03:55 > 0:03:59institutions they borrowed from are increasingly nervous they will not

0:03:59 > 0:04:03get their money back, which has been the cause of the turmoil

0:04:03 > 0:04:10recently. So governments including Stormont have to cut some of that

0:04:10 > 0:04:14debt, it is called the leveraging. And that means that we are facing a

0:04:14 > 0:04:23long and painful period in the economy, and one where we are all

0:04:23 > 0:04:26going to have to learn to within our means. -- to learn to live.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29Today's meeting of business and union leaders was convened by the

0:04:29 > 0:04:31Finance Minister to look for ideas on how to reduce the potential

0:04:31 > 0:04:35damage of global forces on our local economy.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38But what can a Regional Finance Minister do? Our business and

0:04:38 > 0:04:44economics editor, Jim Fitzpatrick, caught up with Sammy Wilson after

0:04:44 > 0:04:48the talks and asked him if the meeting was purely for show.

0:04:48 > 0:04:54first of all, we do recognise there are limitations any regional

0:04:54 > 0:05:00government will have given that the global pressure there is, whether

0:05:00 > 0:05:03it is with the euro or the American economy or whatever. But

0:05:03 > 0:05:08nevertheless, the meeting turned out to be quite useful in my view

0:05:08 > 0:05:11to look first of all at how do the people who are working at the

0:05:11 > 0:05:17Northern Ireland economy from various sites assess the impact?

0:05:17 > 0:05:23And secondly, have they any ideas on anything's which they believe we

0:05:23 > 0:05:29as an Executive should be doing? And people might say they are

0:05:29 > 0:05:34marginal, but if marginals saves 500 or 600 jobs, is that not

0:05:34 > 0:05:39important? It is to those people to keep their jobs. And what one idea

0:05:39 > 0:05:43do you most want to focus on now? We are determined to safeguard as

0:05:43 > 0:05:48many jobs in private and public- sector and look for ways of

0:05:48 > 0:05:52creating jobs in the private and public sector that people can be

0:05:52 > 0:05:56sure they will have an income in the future to spend. You are going

0:05:56 > 0:06:00to have a separate meeting with the banks, are you expecting a fight on

0:06:00 > 0:06:04your hands given what people were telling you here today? The banks

0:06:04 > 0:06:10are in a difficult position, they have created many difficulties for

0:06:10 > 0:06:15businesses as well and I have been critical of the bank's critically -

0:06:15 > 0:06:20- publicly and privately. I also recognise the difficulties they

0:06:20 > 0:06:23have. However, I do think they have an important role to play in

0:06:23 > 0:06:27Northern Ireland. And this retrenchment when they are more

0:06:27 > 0:06:32concerned about, what does our balance sheet look like, rather

0:06:32 > 0:06:37than, what impact to we have on the businesses who have been good

0:06:37 > 0:06:44customers for years, is something I think I need to iron out with them.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47Many thanks. That was Sammy Wilson talking. Three men in their early

0:06:47 > 0:06:5020s have appeared in court charged with attempting to kill a teenage

0:06:50 > 0:06:53boy in Antrim on Friday. The charges relate to an attack on a 17

0:06:53 > 0:06:59year old in Station Road that the police believe had a sectarian

0:06:59 > 0:07:03motive. Our reporter, Chris Page, was at Coleraine Magistrates' Court.

0:07:03 > 0:07:09Arriving at Coleraine court has today, three men charged with

0:07:09 > 0:07:19trying to kill his 17-year-old. -- Court House. The accused are all

0:07:19 > 0:07:25from Antrim. Nathan Wilson, 20, 23- year-old Colin Kingsbury and cow

0:07:25 > 0:07:29Taggart, 23 were in the dock. They are induced -- accused of carrying

0:07:29 > 0:07:35out the attack on Jordan Duffy, a Catholic, and police believe the

0:07:35 > 0:07:39assault was sectarian. It happened early on Friday. Jordan Duffy's

0:07:39 > 0:07:44injuries were initially thought to be life-threatening and he is now

0:07:44 > 0:07:48in a stable condition in Belfast. A detective constable said there were

0:07:48 > 0:07:51three witnesses to the attack and that in police interviews, each of

0:07:51 > 0:07:56the accused gave a different version of events. There were no

0:07:56 > 0:07:59bail applications. The three men were remanded in custody.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02A football referee who had a heart attack at a club game last night

0:08:02 > 0:08:05was given life-saving treatment with a defibrillator on the pitch.

0:08:05 > 0:08:08He was in a critical condition when taken to hospital, but his

0:08:08 > 0:08:11condition has now improved. The Gaelic football match was in

0:08:11 > 0:08:14Newry between Burren and Longstone. And, as our district journalist

0:08:14 > 0:08:22Francis Gorman reports, it's the second time in just a few weeks

0:08:22 > 0:08:28that one of the heart machines has been used at a local sports game.

0:08:28 > 0:08:34The game was nearly over when 46- year-old Gabriel told he collapsed

0:08:34 > 0:08:38on the pitch. Medics took -- medics rushed to his side assisted by

0:08:38 > 0:08:44medics and a nurse. She was back at nurse today and with a volunteer

0:08:44 > 0:08:51patient showed how a different a later works. She described what

0:08:51 > 0:08:56happened at the match when she saw the referee for. A nurse and a

0:08:56 > 0:09:01doctor were at the scene. I carried out CPR and waited on the deferred

0:09:01 > 0:09:06a later to come, which came fairly quickly. We attached into the

0:09:06 > 0:09:12machine and carried out a shock. That was done twice and that

0:09:12 > 0:09:17brought him back into briefing and a pulse. He was lucky. And very

0:09:17 > 0:09:22lucky. He was lucky the machine was close to hand and that there was a

0:09:22 > 0:09:26team of medical people with him at that time. The consultant who

0:09:26 > 0:09:31treated the referee says all sports clubs should have a machine on the

0:09:31 > 0:09:36premises. The fact there was one at the club meant Gabriel's pulse was

0:09:36 > 0:09:41restored quickly and he had no brain damage. Undoubtedly, it meant

0:09:41 > 0:09:45that most likely it saved his life. If there had been a delay, it is

0:09:45 > 0:09:50more likely he would not have made a normal new logical recovery or

0:09:50 > 0:09:55would not have been alert when he arrived to us. Following the death

0:09:55 > 0:10:00of All Ireland champion -- and all Ireland's champion, many clubs now

0:10:00 > 0:10:04have a machine on the premises in case of medical emergencies.

0:10:04 > 0:10:07You are watching BBC Newsline, still to come on the programme.

0:10:07 > 0:10:10The IFA's new initiative to try to make sure our young stars play for

0:10:10 > 0:10:14Northern Ireland and not the Republic.

0:10:14 > 0:10:24And find out how an Olympic hopeful recovered from this to win her next

0:10:24 > 0:10:24

0:10:25 > 0:10:28The organisers of the Mid Antrim 150 Motorcycle Road Race have vowed

0:10:28 > 0:10:31to keep the event going, despite its cancellation at the weekend. It

0:10:32 > 0:10:41is believed an oil spill on the course near Clough had been put

0:10:42 > 0:10:42

0:10:42 > 0:10:48there deliberately. BBC Newsline's Will Leitch reports.

0:10:48 > 0:10:53The riders race to Antrim's rural roads been village streets, speeds

0:10:53 > 0:10:58approaching 200 miles per hour. But not this weekend. The discovery of

0:10:58 > 0:11:03oil on sections of the track outside Clough made a difficult

0:11:03 > 0:11:08choice for race organisers. could have smelled the diesel in

0:11:08 > 0:11:13the morning. I got the roads closed and contacted the police, and the

0:11:13 > 0:11:18road was totally covered in diesel and heavy oil. Go at morning,

0:11:18 > 0:11:22everybody, not the best of starts today! For the second year in a row,

0:11:22 > 0:11:26spectators were left and wondering when racing might start and

0:11:27 > 0:11:32weathered the spillages on two major sections were up by accident

0:11:32 > 0:11:36or design. One of the worst-hit areas was here, riders come along

0:11:36 > 0:11:40here at speed before slowing down for a left-hand turn. They say they

0:11:40 > 0:11:44are ill was put to with it on the road directly in the wind when they

0:11:44 > 0:11:48would be racing and where they would break. The person that did

0:11:48 > 0:11:53this knew exactly what they were doing, they are involved in

0:11:53 > 0:11:57motorcycle racing, that is what I believe. It is very, very

0:11:57 > 0:12:01disappointing. Then at lunch time came the rain and the cancellation

0:12:02 > 0:12:06of the race meeting. Considering the amount of work done on this

0:12:06 > 0:12:10course over the last few weeks, I just feel so let down and

0:12:10 > 0:12:14disappointed. Let down by the people that did the work. But my

0:12:14 > 0:12:20concern was the safety of the competitors. Whoever was behind it,

0:12:20 > 0:12:25it worked. No racing this year. And while club members have told the

0:12:25 > 0:12:28BBC they want to continue, they are meeting tonight to consider the

0:12:28 > 0:12:32future of the Mid Antrim 150 Motorcycle Road Race.

0:12:32 > 0:12:40Police are being urged to make rural crime a priority following a

0:12:40 > 0:12:4428% rise in thefts from farms over the past two years. One of the main

0:12:44 > 0:12:52insurance companies' estimates agricultural machinery worth about

0:12:52 > 0:12:563.8 million is stolen annually. Worth almost 50,000, this is the

0:12:56 > 0:13:01sort of farm machinery thieves are after. But in this case, the fee

0:13:01 > 0:13:06for spotted driving it away and the tractor was recovered. -- the thief

0:13:06 > 0:13:10was spotted. The farmer says had the police reacted faster, that

0:13:10 > 0:13:19Diouf would have been caught red- handed. A half an hour later, the

0:13:19 > 0:13:22police arrived and did not have a big interest. It had left... I do

0:13:22 > 0:13:27not know why it someone else could have not come out sooner, this is

0:13:27 > 0:13:31life. The many agricultural vehicles stolen in Northern Ireland

0:13:31 > 0:13:36are not recovered, but the NFU Mutual says some vehicles have been

0:13:36 > 0:13:41recovered as far away as Australia and South Africa. That points to

0:13:41 > 0:13:45the involvement of criminal gangs using established routes out of the

0:13:45 > 0:13:49country. It used to be mainly equipment out of building sites,

0:13:49 > 0:13:55but since the property crash, farmyards are now the major target.

0:13:55 > 0:13:59We have a lot of ongoing reports of the thefts of quad bikes, tractors,

0:13:59 > 0:14:02livestock, power tools, and the problem seems to be getting worse.

0:14:02 > 0:14:07Back today's report finally quantify is the extent of the

0:14:07 > 0:14:14problem which is a good thing and we need to focus on the solution.

0:14:14 > 0:14:16Be Ps and I says crime is down in a four roar police in districts in

0:14:16 > 0:14:22Northern Ireland -- the police service in Northern Ireland.

0:14:22 > 0:14:26Farmers are asked to take security numbers. For farmers buying these

0:14:26 > 0:14:32products probably do not keep a sail number which they should do,

0:14:32 > 0:14:37that product may move to an auction within Ireland or within the UK.

0:14:37 > 0:14:42For livestock theft is also a problem. Northern Ireland is the

0:14:42 > 0:14:46second highest region for cattle rustling in the UK. Farmers'

0:14:46 > 0:14:56leaders and police commanders were leaked -- will meet later this week

0:14:56 > 0:14:58

0:14:58 > 0:15:04The head of their several service offers a starting salary of

0:15:04 > 0:15:11140,000. The pose is up for grabs Pezzoli if you are already working

0:15:11 > 0:15:17in -- the post is up for grabs but only if you of already working in

0:15:17 > 0:15:20Ireland in the civil service. Who is raising these concerns? Their

0:15:20 > 0:15:25concerns are coming from two quarters. The Civil Service

0:15:25 > 0:15:29Commissioners are making sure these jobs are allocated on merit through

0:15:29 > 0:15:34fair competition. They have concerns about this process. I sped

0:15:34 > 0:15:39to a politician he said it is a scandal this post isn't opened to a

0:15:39 > 0:15:44wider talent pool. I would like to see this post as widely open as

0:15:44 > 0:15:48possible, with an opportunity for are the people from other parts of

0:15:48 > 0:15:54Britain and the Republic of Ireland to apply for the post. Everyone is

0:15:54 > 0:15:59on an equal plane and we did have this hierarchy of the old boys

0:15:59 > 0:16:04brigade that has persisted for too long. What is this a full service

0:16:04 > 0:16:08saying about the controversy? civil-service are taken aback by

0:16:08 > 0:16:13the controversy. They see this process is in line with what

0:16:13 > 0:16:21happens in London and Dublin. Sir Bruce Weber's and was appointed

0:16:21 > 0:16:26after a process that had an internal advertising campaign. --

0:16:26 > 0:16:36Sir Bruce Robert son. They don't have the power to compel him to

0:16:36 > 0:16:39

0:16:39 > 0:16:45After another defection in international football, what can be

0:16:45 > 0:16:50done to stop the exodus of players from Northern Ireland.

0:16:50 > 0:16:54Gavin is here with a possible solution.

0:16:54 > 0:16:57Gerry Armstrong is being hired to curb the number of young players

0:16:57 > 0:17:03here who are switching her international allegiance to the

0:17:03 > 0:17:13Republic. His appointment which will be confirmed tomorrow, follows

0:17:13 > 0:17:13

0:17:14 > 0:17:18another member to retire from playing against the Faeroe Islands.

0:17:18 > 0:17:23It is not the first time at a defection from the squad has

0:17:24 > 0:17:28disrupted the build-up to a qualifying game. For manager Nigel

0:17:28 > 0:17:37wording -- Worthington, he was looking to focus on those that were

0:17:37 > 0:17:42training, rather than those that weren't. What the association is

0:17:42 > 0:17:46that he wants to represent the Republic. I have to -- respect that

0:17:46 > 0:17:56and have to move on. I am focused on the players that are here. We

0:17:56 > 0:18:06have to concentrate on them and get it right for Wednesday night.

0:18:06 > 0:18:07

0:18:07 > 0:18:11McLean did a fitness test today. This was the first time he had been

0:18:11 > 0:18:20included having previously represented Northern Ireland up to

0:18:21 > 0:18:2521 level. James McLean, a here. will travel to Belfast to take up

0:18:25 > 0:18:28his new post. As well as encouraging new players to stay

0:18:29 > 0:18:33with Northern Ireland, he wants to meet those there have already made

0:18:33 > 0:18:39the switch to the Republic. We have spent a lot of money in developing

0:18:39 > 0:18:49young players in Northern Ireland. To see them walkaway at the end is

0:18:49 > 0:18:55disappointing and disheartening. I would like to say that I would like

0:18:55 > 0:18:59to see a stronger squad. McLean said it was his dream to rip it

0:18:59 > 0:19:03does represent the Republic of Ireland but for the IFA, player

0:19:03 > 0:19:08eligibility is turning into a nightmare.

0:19:08 > 0:19:11The domestic football season kicked off this weekend. Peter Thomson who

0:19:11 > 0:19:15has been called into the Northern Ireland spot didn't get on the

0:19:15 > 0:19:23score sheet but the champion start their title defence with a 2-1 win

0:19:23 > 0:19:29over Ken Adam. Nathan Hanley picked the spot to score their second game.

0:19:29 > 0:19:34Glentoran beat Crusaders. Darren Boyce snatched a 90th winner.

0:19:34 > 0:19:40For Martin Donnelly fired in the early goal of the game for

0:19:40 > 0:19:43Cliftonville. Darren Murray made the perfect start to his career.

0:19:43 > 0:19:53The home side got their first ever win.

0:19:53 > 0:19:55

0:19:55 > 0:20:00Add to a dramatic day for Kevin my kit -- Ciara Mageean. She fell on

0:20:00 > 0:20:04their finish line through exhaustion but when her next race.

0:20:04 > 0:20:08This is her out in front in the closing stages of the 800 metres.

0:20:08 > 0:20:14She had led the race from the start, going out hard to break clear of

0:20:14 > 0:20:20the other competitors. That exertion took its toll feet from

0:20:20 > 0:20:24the finish line. She was clearly distraught

0:20:24 > 0:20:29afterwards and it might have ended another athlete afternoon. She

0:20:29 > 0:20:33picked herself up and went for some food and rest and two hours later,

0:20:33 > 0:20:37she was back on the track, contesting and winning the 1,500

0:20:37 > 0:20:43metres. I came off the track thinking,

0:20:43 > 0:20:52right, we have to do it. I had some food and decided to warm up and see

0:20:52 > 0:21:01how I felt. I didn't really not want to run. I am pretty glad I did

0:21:01 > 0:21:07because I came out on top. Another athlete who should be pleased is

0:21:07 > 0:21:10Jason Smith. He won the men's 400 metres and is on the Ireland team

0:21:10 > 0:21:15for the World Athletics Championships in Korea.

0:21:15 > 0:21:25It was one of those weekends where -- for to run. They lost their

0:21:25 > 0:21:40

0:21:40 > 0:21:45Seven points was the difference. Strange as it may sound, attention

0:21:45 > 0:21:55is taking -- turning to the future of some of those players. 92 grown

0:21:55 > 0:21:59

0:21:59 > 0:22:04men who played at Croke Park are over 30 years of age and... A lot

0:22:04 > 0:22:08have dedicated their lives. They have made the sacrifices and the

0:22:09 > 0:22:18commitment and have had the honour of playing for to Rome. Those

0:22:19 > 0:22:19

0:22:19 > 0:22:23players don't own Tyrone anything. They should not rush into any

0:22:23 > 0:22:28decisions and wait for a whole thing up. They are expected to meet

0:22:28 > 0:22:32some time next week and there could be seven players calling it a day.

0:22:32 > 0:22:40If those players resign, the message is they won't be easy to

0:22:40 > 0:22:45replace. The thing for any manager is they want a balance of

0:22:45 > 0:22:50experience. They have been very successful and you will not replace

0:22:50 > 0:22:55those players overnight. I wouldn't be too hasty in writing them off

0:22:55 > 0:23:00yet. After so much success, there may yet be plenty more to be

0:23:00 > 0:23:06positive about if you are a Tyrone a supporter.

0:23:06 > 0:23:09For the rest of the weekend's sport and we have a dramatic bike race

0:23:09 > 0:23:15involving this man at Brands Hatch. There is close racing and then

0:23:16 > 0:23:22there is this. Alastair Seeley and Ben Wilson have battled it out all

0:23:22 > 0:23:30year but they race at Brands Hatch was a classic. He got her money

0:23:30 > 0:23:39outside again. In the end, the Carrick Fergus a man run by three

0:23:39 > 0:23:45hundreds of the second. I had to nudge him out of the way. I was in

0:23:45 > 0:23:51front and I could hear him coming. We rub elbows but that gets me

0:23:51 > 0:23:57fired up ready for the action. And also met race with them. I really

0:23:57 > 0:24:04enjoyed it and it meant a lot crossing their line.

0:24:04 > 0:24:11Not much to shout about for the Irish rugby team. Declan Kidney's

0:24:11 > 0:24:14men were defeated. Next up, 80 for Test, France and Bordeaux this

0:24:14 > 0:24:19Saturday evening. Rory McIlroy Roy has shown some

0:24:19 > 0:24:28good form in America ahead of this week's 4th major of the year. He

0:24:28 > 0:24:33finished in a tie for 6th in Ohio. He would take up for membership of

0:24:33 > 0:24:37the US Tour next season. There was a unique ceremony for Jimi Ogunkoya

0:24:37 > 0:24:43Royal Saturday. He was awarded his MBE on the pitch at his beloved

0:24:43 > 0:24:48Burnley, thanks to some advice from an old team-mate. I got a phone

0:24:48 > 0:24:54call from Harry Gregg, the Manchester United goalkeeper. His

0:24:54 > 0:25:00first words on the phone wire, "you are in for the most boring day of

0:25:00 > 0:25:06your life, going to Buckingham Palace to pick it up." that is

0:25:06 > 0:25:15where I decided to have it here. emotional day for one of the great.

0:25:15 > 0:25:23Was it a boring day for an OBE? I didn't think so.

0:25:23 > 0:25:26Cecilia hopefully is going to Cecilia hopefully is going to

0:25:26 > 0:25:31become a Dame if she brings us some sunshine.

0:25:31 > 0:25:39I have ever been one for titles. We have not got a lot of sunshine

0:25:39 > 0:25:47this week. Tomorrow, it is your best day of the week. We had some

0:25:47 > 0:25:52strange weather over the weekend. Varied weather. If you saw clouds

0:25:52 > 0:25:57like that running towards you, you would probably head for shelter.

0:25:57 > 0:26:03The Red Arrows managed to get their display at Newcastle. There was

0:26:03 > 0:26:08some flooding also over the weekend. Today, we haven't had rain but the

0:26:09 > 0:26:14wind has been cool. It probably felt like autumn in some places

0:26:14 > 0:26:18today. That will slowly eased during the next 24 hours. Still

0:26:18 > 0:26:25breezy along the north coast. One or two share was passing through.

0:26:25 > 0:26:28Most places are dry. -- one or two showers passing through. We will

0:26:28 > 0:26:33keep an eye on things from Wednesday onwards because there is

0:26:33 > 0:26:41a lot of wet weather coming in. There's no warning yet but it will

0:26:41 > 0:26:46certainly be significant. Tomorrow morning, generally dry. One are to

0:26:46 > 0:26:50showers in County Antrim. Some sunshine at times and the winds

0:26:50 > 0:26:58starting to ease. It should be dry in most eastern counties. When the

0:26:58 > 0:27:04sun is shining, it shouldn't feel too bad. Temperatures nothing to

0:27:04 > 0:27:09write home about. Over to the West, although dry, the cloud will be

0:27:09 > 0:27:15building. That is ahead of the rain coming our way tomorrow evening. We

0:27:15 > 0:27:20see the rain its opinion around teatime. By midnight, it will be

0:27:20 > 0:27:24raining in most places. We have persistent and heavy rain during

0:27:24 > 0:27:29the second part of the night. A lot of surface water to come on

0:27:29 > 0:27:33Wednesday morning. That rain will continue during the day. Not a

0:27:33 > 0:27:35great day on Wednesday. Still heavy rain for the second half of the

0:27:35 > 0:27:41rain for the second half of the week. The temperatures rise a

0:27:41 > 0:27:47little bit. Not a great combination.

0:27:47 > 0:27:50The headlines: Business and union leaders have that the finance

0:27:50 > 0:27:54minister at Stormont to discuss a response to the debt crisis.
