:00:24. > :00:28.Good evening. This is BBC Newsline. The headlines: Stormont is to be

:00:28. > :00:33.the field for a Orange parade to make the centenary -- mark the

:00:33. > :00:39.centenary of the Ulster Covenant. A bypass divides opinion in a

:00:39. > :00:43.County Antrim village. If the road scheme goes ahead, the farmers will

:00:43. > :00:48.suffer. We are on board the ship following

:00:48. > :00:53.in the wake of the Titanic to the North Atlantic.

:00:53. > :00:57.The eight-year-old Irish dancer who has become an internet sensation.

:00:57. > :01:03.I will be talking to the local fisherman who has landed the big

:01:03. > :01:12.catch of the day. And I mean big. And keep the umbrella as and winter

:01:12. > :01:16.coats handy as we are in for quite a chilly week.

:01:16. > :01:19.For the first time, the grounds of Stormont will be hosting an Orange

:01:19. > :01:24.Order event. The gathering will mark the centenary of the Ulster

:01:24. > :01:27.Covenant. Permission was given by the Finance Minister whose

:01:27. > :01:33.department oversees the use of the estate. Lodges operate from the

:01:33. > :01:38.city centre to Stormont in September. -- lodges will travel.

:01:38. > :01:42.It is a familiar sight every 12th July. Now the traditional field

:01:42. > :01:48.gathering at the end of an Orange parade will be here in the grounds

:01:48. > :01:51.of Stormont. It is up to mark the centenary associated with the

:01:51. > :01:57.Unionist leader whose statue dominates at the approach to

:01:58. > :02:03.parliament buildings. In 1912, he and 23,000 other men signed to be

:02:03. > :02:08.Ulster Covenant at Belfast City Hall, a posing home rule in Ireland.

:02:08. > :02:14.The statue is there and that is symbolic. It is symbolic to

:02:14. > :02:18.identify with that. I would not put too much weight on any symbolism.

:02:19. > :02:23.The venue was most important to be able to host of the crowds that we

:02:23. > :02:27.imagine will be there. The Orange Order anticipates thousands of

:02:27. > :02:31.people participating in what will begin as a parade from the centre

:02:31. > :02:36.of Belfast and will finish in Stormont. The event will take place

:02:36. > :02:40.on Saturday 29th September after approval was granted by Sammy

:02:40. > :02:45.Wilson. In a statement, his department said that the approval

:02:45. > :02:50.was subject to the final arrangements being agreed. What is

:02:50. > :02:57.controversial in it? If people do not want to be associated with it,

:02:57. > :03:02.let them have their say and not be associated with it. But to go down

:03:02. > :03:07.the extremes to disrupt it, do make any political capital out of it, I

:03:07. > :03:11.do not think anybody wants that. Certainly the Orange institutions

:03:11. > :03:19.intentions are to be honourable. We would like the community to be

:03:19. > :03:23.involved. Most of what takes place in these grounds in September will

:03:23. > :03:30.involve the speeches and the plan is to build a platform near the

:03:30. > :03:40.statue. Farmers and business people in

:03:40. > :03:41.

:03:41. > :03:47.County Antrim say the road services wasting taxpayers' money. Danny

:03:47. > :03:51.Kennedy has yet to make a final decision on the A8 road between

:03:51. > :03:55.Belfast and Larne which includes a plan to bypass Qatar. A group from

:03:56. > :04:03.the village say that it is a waste are to spend the 40 million going

:04:03. > :04:08.around the village when the current road could be a upgraded instead.

:04:08. > :04:12.At the moment, this farmer can move his cattle freely around his land.

:04:12. > :04:19.If the new proposed Ballynure bypass goes ahead, things will be

:04:19. > :04:25.very different. My holding would be severed in two. Presently, I can

:04:25. > :04:30.move animals freely from one field to another without any help or much

:04:30. > :04:38.time involved. If the road scheme goes ahead, the farm is severed

:04:38. > :04:43.into along with many other farms. The plan is to do all some of the

:04:43. > :04:47.A8 road between Belfast and Larne at a cost of 120 million. An

:04:47. > :04:50.estimated 40 million is also to be spent by passing Ballynure,

:04:50. > :04:56.something critics say it is not needed and is a waste of public

:04:56. > :05:01.money. I have not spoken to one person who has complained that the

:05:01. > :05:05.traffic on this road is any more than would be acceptable. In fact,

:05:05. > :05:11.there are many roads that I travel on where there is much more need

:05:11. > :05:15.for improvement. You have only got to look at the intersection that is

:05:15. > :05:20.required at the West Link connection with the current M2

:05:20. > :05:24.motorway. The Department of regional development argues that

:05:24. > :05:29.the road is needed to open up the corridor between Belfast and Larne

:05:30. > :05:36.port. It predicts traffic will rise. The current figures paint a

:05:36. > :05:41.different picture. In 2007, almost 943,000 passengers including

:05:41. > :05:48.freight sailed from Larne. Last year, that had dropped to normal --

:05:48. > :05:54.to almost a trend in that 46,000 -- at 846,000. Some in the village say

:05:54. > :06:00.they need to look at the figures again. To much is at stake.

:06:00. > :06:04.Ballynure bypass is going to cost the public 40 million and there is

:06:04. > :06:07.no tangible benefit of bypassing the village. It has a detrimental

:06:07. > :06:13.impact on the environment and will lead to the loss of jobs in the

:06:13. > :06:18.village. A public inquiry into the bypass was held last summer. So far,

:06:18. > :06:22.the only person to have been given the findings is Danny Kennedy. He

:06:22. > :06:26.is expected to make a decision shortly. In the meantime, the

:06:26. > :06:30.people of bull are waiting to see if works scheduled for later this

:06:30. > :06:37.month will go ahead -- the people of Ballynure.

:06:37. > :06:40.So six men arrested fault -- following a republican rally

:06:40. > :06:44.yesterday have been released without charge. It took place in

:06:44. > :06:47.the city cemetery in Londonderry. The police are continuing to hold a

:06:47. > :06:51.42-year-old man in connection with the murder of Coleraine pensioner

:06:51. > :06:55.Norman Moffatt in 2001. The attack was captured on CCTV but

:06:55. > :07:01.no one has ever been charged with the killing.

:07:01. > :07:03.Still to come: remembering the residents of the County Mayo

:07:03. > :07:13.village who were lost on the Titanic.

:07:13. > :07:14.

:07:14. > :07:18.And I have been chatting to these before they fight this weekend.

:07:18. > :07:24.100 years ago, the Titanic was on its maiden voyage bound for New

:07:24. > :07:30.York. Today at noon a minute's silence was observed in Southampton

:07:30. > :07:35.marking the time when it left the port. Wreaths were thrown from the

:07:35. > :07:40.docks to remember the 1500 people who died including a fiver hundred

:07:40. > :07:45.and 38 crew members, most of whom live in the town -- 538.

:07:45. > :07:48.The ship raising the Titanic's Ridge has had to turn back because

:07:48. > :07:57.of a medical emergency. The Balmoral left Cobh in County Cork

:07:57. > :08:01.last night. The BBC is the only broadcaster on board.

:08:01. > :08:07.Wind and waves are battering the Balmoral as it makes its weight to

:08:07. > :08:12.the spot where the Titanic sank. If you want to know how rough the seas

:08:12. > :08:18.are, watch the horizon. Some passengers are dressed not for the

:08:18. > :08:23.weather but to mark a moment and remember the past. This outfit

:08:23. > :08:28.belonged to my husband's great- grandmother. This couple have come

:08:28. > :08:38.from County Down to follow Voyage made by others. From a short

:08:38. > :08:38.

:08:38. > :08:45.distance... There was a man who left to go to Queenstown and he

:08:45. > :08:52.joined the Titanic at Queenstown but he did not survive the disaster.

:08:52. > :08:56.Queenstown was lined by thousands yesterday. A warm welcome for the

:08:56. > :09:00.Balmoral's passengers as they follow the route of the Titanic.

:09:00. > :09:07.Coming here on the boat and looking at all of the people was fantastic.

:09:07. > :09:11.A brass band. You could not ask for anything more. People were keen to

:09:11. > :09:15.share their own stories from the period of history. He put together

:09:15. > :09:21.the pieces. Speaking to people like you to learn... In it is

:09:21. > :09:26.fascinating. People boarded the Balmoral just as they did the

:09:26. > :09:31.Titanic. Make no mistake, this is a very modern ship. For many people,

:09:31. > :09:35.this is a holiday. But this is not typical cruise ship weather. It is

:09:36. > :09:41.likely to get a lot more blustery out in the North Atlantic. That has

:09:41. > :09:46.not stopped people from enjoying themselves, even outdoors. Believe

:09:46. > :09:50.it or not, despite the conditions all around, the plural was meant to

:09:51. > :09:58.be relatively warm. We are Norwegians summit it is OK! -- the

:09:58. > :10:03.poll was meant to be relatively warm. We are Norwegians so it is OK.

:10:03. > :10:10.Some grew emotional as the trip -- ship travelled ever closer to the

:10:10. > :10:15.point in the Atlantic where 1500 drowned at sea. Balmoral is heading

:10:15. > :10:20.back towards deep Irish coast because of what has been described

:10:21. > :10:25.as a medical emergency. A passenger is expected to be airlifted off

:10:25. > :10:29.this ship in a short amount of time. It has been emphasised that it is a

:10:29. > :10:34.precautionary measure. We understand the ship is still

:10:34. > :10:38.expected to end the site of the Titanic's sinking 100 years ago by

:10:38. > :10:45.this weekend to hold the memorial service. Back on dry land, hundreds

:10:45. > :10:49.of people have arrived far a commemorative festival in Ireland's

:10:49. > :10:53.official Titanic village. That is Lahardane where the parish of

:10:53. > :10:57.Addergoole lost more people on the liner than any other place in

:10:58. > :11:03.Ireland. Re-enact does relive the parts of

:11:03. > :11:08.local residents who left to the village of Lahardane 100 years ago.

:11:08. > :11:12.They are known as the Addergoole 14. 11 women and three men. They were

:11:12. > :11:22.on their way to America on the Titanic. Only three of them got

:11:22. > :11:24.

:11:24. > :11:29.there. It would have been a large number from any one area to leave.

:11:29. > :11:35.The fact that 14 from one village left where there already was a very

:11:35. > :11:39.small community and the fact that only 11 of that 14... Only three

:11:39. > :11:44.survive. That was a massive loss to the village at the times. Hundreds

:11:44. > :11:49.of people including the former president have come to the village

:11:49. > :11:53.for a Titanic festival week. It is a chance for some to re-enact

:11:54. > :12:00.experience of their ancestors. It is a chance too for some

:12:00. > :12:08.transatlantic family reunions. goodness! I saw you when you work a

:12:08. > :12:15.little boy. A long time ago. years. This is the man his family

:12:15. > :12:21.are remembering. I am his niece. He perished on the Titanic. He was the

:12:21. > :12:29.younger brother of my father, Tom. He left here with my mother who

:12:29. > :12:35.came from nearby. I had two older sisters who have now passed away.

:12:35. > :12:39.This is the new permanent memorial to the Addergoole 14. Nothing is

:12:39. > :12:47.known about millions of Irish immigrants but those who left this

:12:47. > :12:52.village for the Titanic will not be forgotten.

:12:52. > :12:58.The tragedy that has touched so many. More on the Titanic including

:12:58. > :13:03.a host of BBC archive clips explaining why Belfast was at the

:13:03. > :13:08.hub of shipbuilding at the turn of the 20th century... Check out our

:13:08. > :13:12.special website. We are also on Twitter.

:13:12. > :13:18.We will have full coverage of all of the memorial services across the

:13:18. > :13:22.weekend on a our outlets. Narrow Water Castle is to feature

:13:22. > :13:29.on a new set of Royal Mail stance. The Elizabethan tower house was

:13:29. > :13:33.built as a military lookout in the 15th 60s. It is one of a number of

:13:33. > :13:39.significant buildings chosen for the new stamp collection -- in the

:13:39. > :13:45.15th 60s. If you have ever heard an angler

:13:45. > :13:50.saying that he caught a fish this big, chances are he is exaggerating.

:13:50. > :13:56.That is not the case when it comes to Andy Logan was dubbed a giant of

:13:56. > :14:01.a fish! -- that is not the case when it comes to Andy Logan! A

:14:01. > :14:06.giant of a fish. This fish was caught but just off

:14:06. > :14:10.Rathlin Island Vostok to give you an idea of how big it is. I am five

:14:11. > :14:16.at nine inches in height. This is the fish in question. It is a state

:14:16. > :14:23.and measures eight ft high by 6 ft wide. -- it is a state. It took

:14:23. > :14:26.three men to lift it onto the boat. The man who caught it is local

:14:26. > :14:32.fishermen here in Carrickfergus, Andy Logan. Described the moment

:14:32. > :14:36.when you felt the noble? A it was unbelievable. I have caught plenty

:14:36. > :14:40.before but this time I thought I had caught a submarine. A monster.

:14:40. > :14:45.How long did it take you to real it in? I an hour and 10 minutes with

:14:45. > :14:50.health. When it came on board, what was your reaction? I could not

:14:50. > :14:54.believe it. I still cannot get over the size of it. I am glad I have

:14:54. > :14:59.got photographs. A monster. have you ever caught anything like

:14:59. > :15:04.that before? I thought I had but now my eyes have been opened.

:15:04. > :15:08.released it back into the sea? definitely. That fish is 65 years

:15:08. > :15:12.old so there are another few years in him yet. You are king of the

:15:12. > :15:18.fish and then in these parts yet? So they say! And you have caught

:15:18. > :15:25.sharks before? I have caught the sharks are easier. I would like to

:15:25. > :15:31.see any other guys beat this record. It is something you won't forget.

:15:31. > :15:41.Definitely. Never forget it. Congratulations. Happy sailing. We

:15:41. > :15:42.

:15:42. > :15:48.might go for fish and chips after At 16 stone, that record-breaking

:15:48. > :15:54.fish is the same weight as Belfast boxer Martin Rogan and he squared

:15:54. > :16:01.up to his opponent Tyson Fury today in Belfast ahead of their Irish

:16:01. > :16:05.heavyweight title showdown on Saturday night at the Odyssey Arena.

:16:05. > :16:14.Here is the deal. They do not like one another and today it was

:16:14. > :16:20.abundantly evident. He kept saying to me, treen well a! Drain well! I

:16:20. > :16:24.hope you trained well! Because I certainly have. He has not got a

:16:24. > :16:33.prayer. I will hit him with that many left jabs he will be begging

:16:33. > :16:42.for me to knock him out. Rogan said that Fury was out of shape. That

:16:42. > :16:49.prompted an impromptu strep. only six lackey has is still in the

:16:49. > :16:53.fridge! Suddenly, this room was creaking under the dust off 100

:16:53. > :17:00.years of history and it was alive with a new kind of 20 first-century

:17:00. > :17:07.electricity. Do you see this as a last chance saloon? Know. There are

:17:07. > :17:11.no miles on my tank. It is a great opportunity to fight. There are not

:17:11. > :17:20.too many people out there who get the opportunity to do it at my age.

:17:20. > :17:25.He will go toe to toe on Saturday. It is never dull with that Martin

:17:25. > :17:28.Rogan. Elsewhere, the Ulster Rugby prop John Afoa has been cited for a

:17:29. > :17:32.dangerous tackle during last Sunday's Heineken Cup quarter-final

:17:32. > :17:37.win over Munster. He will find out on Thursday if he will be available

:17:37. > :17:41.for the semi-final. In a moment, we will hear from the man who scored

:17:41. > :17:45.that magical try a. They have confirmed that there will not be

:17:45. > :17:52.the same pressure on tickets for the Edinburgh show down in Dublin.

:17:52. > :17:57.We had a limited allocation, which was 6,400, as the home team. At the

:17:57. > :18:00.Aviva Stadium, we have been given a bigger allocation. We have taken

:18:00. > :18:04.20,000 tickets which are ring- fenced for our season-ticket

:18:04. > :18:09.holders. We have put a large number of tickets on general sale this

:18:09. > :18:13.morning. It will not affect our season-ticket holders. We're hoping

:18:13. > :18:19.that the majority of the stadium will be filled with Ulster fans.

:18:19. > :18:26.have had a few days to reflect and this was a great day. I will keep

:18:26. > :18:32.the memory for a long time. As will the rest of the team. You have to

:18:32. > :18:35.look on from that to the semi- finals and hopefully the finals.

:18:35. > :18:45.were two matters in football's Carling Premiership this afternoon.

:18:45. > :18:46.

:18:47. > :18:51.Ballymena Utd 14-2 at Dungannon Swifts. After a goal drought in the

:18:51. > :18:55.first have, two minutes into the second, Gary Hamilton open the

:18:55. > :19:04.floodgates in a phenomenal relegation battle at Seaview. With

:19:04. > :19:07.two further goals in a seven-minute spell, they were Two-nil up.

:19:07. > :19:12.Despite an earlier penalty miss from Shane Dolan, with 11 minutes

:19:12. > :19:18.remaining, Anto Lagan make no mistake with his. Four minutes

:19:18. > :19:22.later, Brian McCaul grabbed the fourth of the day. Then, with just

:19:22. > :19:28.five minutes of normal time remaining, Marcus Kane gave Carrick

:19:28. > :19:33.Rangers some hope. Thomas Hyland fired in the third of the day for

:19:33. > :19:37.Carrick Rangers. In the third minute of additional time, Paul

:19:37. > :19:44.Heatley scored the all-important equaliser to ensure that the amber

:19:44. > :19:48.army for live to fight another day in the relegation battle.

:19:48. > :19:53.Goals galore or at Seaview. Elsewhere, Irish hobbies bid to

:19:53. > :19:56.qualify for the Olympics may have ended in tears recently, but a team

:19:56. > :20:03.from Northern Ireland is celebrating by European victory.

:20:04. > :20:06.Pegasus Ladies won in Belfast. This is the fourth time the Pegasus

:20:06. > :20:13.Ladies have won the Eurohockey tournament, but it is the first

:20:13. > :20:19.time they have won it as hosts. They won four gains in four days

:20:19. > :20:23.against international opposition, culminating in a 4-3 victory over

:20:23. > :20:27.by Ukrainian team. Here you are playing on your home turf and in

:20:27. > :20:34.front of your home crowd. They have been fantastic. The organisation in

:20:34. > :20:38.this club, an amateur club, has been top drawer. It is the third

:20:38. > :20:43.piece of silverware for the team this season and they are still in

:20:43. > :20:49.contention to win two more trophies in the coming weeks.

:20:49. > :20:59.That is it from sport for now. Four more matches tonight, including

:20:59. > :21:00.

:21:00. > :21:04.Linfield against Cliftonville. Now, last week we had thousands of

:21:04. > :21:08.international visitors in Belfast for the World Irish Dancing

:21:08. > :21:13.Championships. Today, a local Dancer is a global sensation on the

:21:13. > :21:15.internet and has been watched by tens of thousands of people. Eight

:21:16. > :21:19.year-old Kate McCafferty was Ireland in a shopping centre in

:21:19. > :21:26.Derry, dancing a way through a string of Michael Jackson hits.

:21:26. > :21:30.Within one day, a tribute to the King of Pop had gone barrel. This

:21:30. > :21:36.young girl is a rising star on the internet. Tens of thousands of

:21:36. > :21:42.people have already tuned in it to see her dance her way through

:21:42. > :21:48.Michael Jackson hits. It is fun and exciting. I have heard of people

:21:48. > :21:55.watching me in Germany, America... Some people are watching me in

:21:56. > :21:59.China. It is so exciting. In the three days, there have been well

:21:59. > :22:09.over 100,000 hits and counting on YouTube and this is what people

:22:09. > :22:11.

:22:11. > :22:15.have been clamouring to see. Take it away Kate. She was full and last

:22:15. > :22:19.week as part of a pineapple Dance Studio Showcase, after been chosen

:22:19. > :22:24.to take part in workshops and it would seem that dancing is in the

:22:24. > :22:29.blood. She is a brilliant dancer. When I saw her doing a Michael

:22:29. > :22:33.Jackson steps it was brilliant to watch. I am so proud and shocked

:22:33. > :22:38.and overwhelmed. I cannot believe it. We did not think that much of a

:22:38. > :22:42.bit, it was just a little demonstration. It has just exploded.

:22:42. > :22:47.Kate now wants to follow in the footsteps of her idol, Michael

:22:47. > :22:53.Jackson, with a career in music and she has a message for all of her

:22:53. > :23:01.fans on the World Wide Web. Thank you for coming. They have just came

:23:01. > :23:05.to watch me dance. It is very kind of them. Now, this high-kicking

:23:34. > :23:38.Well, we had some really interesting showers today and it

:23:43. > :23:46.thunder and there was even some snow on some of the mountains of

:23:46. > :23:54.County Fermanagh and in County Down over the Mournes. I will show you

:23:54. > :24:00.the radar. That indicates the heavy showers. And there was some thunder

:24:00. > :24:03.around Craigavon and Banbridge. Are they are easing off now and as the

:24:03. > :24:11.temperatures continue to fall this evening, they will gradually ease

:24:11. > :24:16.in intensity and frequency. This is this morning, that is no. The big

:24:16. > :24:19.shower in the background. It shows you how chilly the air is. It is no

:24:19. > :24:28.great surprise, though showers eased back and temperatures will

:24:28. > :24:35.drop away. Frost is likely in some rural areas. It will be a chilly

:24:35. > :24:41.start tomorrow, cooler and showery. There will be some sunshine, but

:24:41. > :24:49.also some pretty spectacular clouds. These pictures were sent in today

:25:16. > :25:23.if you are in a shower, the temperature can drop as low as five

:25:23. > :25:27.degrees. Tomorrow night, but clearing skies, there is likely to

:25:27. > :25:31.be a touch of frost in some areas again. We still have quite a chilly

:25:31. > :25:35.wind on Thursday and there will still be some showers around.

:25:35. > :25:39.Temperatures will fall at it, but they will be less frequent and

:25:39. > :25:44.mostly light and that is the theme as we head towards the weekend.

:25:44. > :25:47.Although it is cool, with winds in the north, there is a lot of dry

:25:47. > :25:52.weather and there will be some decent sunny gaps. A warning to

:25:52. > :25:55.gardeners, that it will be cold enough for some frost at night time.

:25:55. > :26:00.Definitely a day for the umbrella as tomorrow, some heavy showers,
