:00:00. > :00:14.Good evening. Four people were treated in hospital overnight after

:00:15. > :00:18.a road crash involving a car and a police patrol in county Fermanagh.

:00:19. > :00:21.The driver of the car and one of the three police officers hurt are still

:00:22. > :00:34.in hospital. It's believed their injuries are not life-threatening.

:00:35. > :00:38.The crash was just before 1.00am this morning on Boa Island Road in

:00:39. > :00:41.Kesh. Two men have been arrested after an incident near Lisburn when

:00:42. > :00:45.a man and a woman were threatened with a gun. There was a fight at

:00:46. > :00:50.Drumbeg Mews just before 2.30am this morning. A man was punched. He then

:00:51. > :00:53.pulled out a gun and pointed it at a man and a woman before he fled in a

:00:54. > :00:58.car. Two hours later two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested in the

:00:59. > :01:01.Tullycarnet area of East Belfast. A gun was recovered by the police at

:01:02. > :01:04.the scene. Golfer Rory McIlroy has announced his engagement to the

:01:05. > :01:06.Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. The 24-year-old Holywood

:01:07. > :01:10.man proposed to her in Sydney where she is preparing for the Australian

:01:11. > :01:15.Open. Chris Page has more. It's the happiest of new years for this happy

:01:16. > :01:21.couple. Rory and Caroline posted these photos on Twitter where they

:01:22. > :01:29.announced their engagement. The golfer tweeted, "my first victory of

:01:30. > :01:33.29 014, she said "yes." ."." Caroline Wozniacki and Rory got

:01:34. > :01:38.together almost three years ago. Last year they spoke about their

:01:39. > :01:42.relationship. We are just two normal 23 and 22-year-old, having fun

:01:43. > :01:46.together, enjoying each other's company. We don't get to see as much

:01:47. > :01:50.of each other as we would like. Our names will pop-up in the media every

:01:51. > :01:55.now and again. I don't think that bothers us. You want to make it

:01:56. > :02:00.work. We are very happy. Things are working out very well. For me, I

:02:01. > :02:05.think it's great we both have our own careers so not one is waiting at

:02:06. > :02:08.home for the other one. They compete every where from Augusta to

:02:09. > :02:14.Australia. Sydney is where Rory popped the question. Half a world

:02:15. > :02:18.away in the County Down town where he grew up, everyone is pleased. I

:02:19. > :02:22.think he's great. He wants to start a family, get married and have kids.

:02:23. > :02:27.He is great with kids. I have known him since he was born. He is a

:02:28. > :02:31.popular boy here in Holywood. He is always very welcome back. We are

:02:32. > :02:36.looking forward to seeing Caroline and himself back here to celebrate

:02:37. > :02:40.their engagement. People in Rory's hometown have always been immensely

:02:41. > :02:45.proud of him. They are delighted at the news that another sporting

:02:46. > :02:49.superstar will be joining the McIlroy family and are sending their

:02:50. > :02:57.best wishes to the pair who will surely be one of the most famous

:02:58. > :03:01.couples in the world in 2014. Well, it's been a year when the Northern

:03:02. > :03:03.Ireland economy was at the mercy of the weather. Our business and

:03:04. > :03:07.economics editor John Campbell has been looking back at 2013 and taking

:03:08. > :03:10.the economic temperature for the 12 months ahead. Northern Ireland has

:03:11. > :03:13.had a long economic winter. The big freeze at the start of 2013 helped

:03:14. > :03:16.keep growth subdued. With the good weather, the economy finally started

:03:17. > :03:21.to pick up in the summer. At the start of 2014, most of the economic

:03:22. > :03:25.indicators are pointing in the right direction. Unemployment has been

:03:26. > :03:29.coming down, slowly, but consistently. This was the Prime

:03:30. > :03:32.Minister announcing new jobs at Bombardier. He was the star

:03:33. > :03:36.attraction at October's investment conference. Most workers have faced

:03:37. > :03:40.the difficulty that the their wages just aren't keeping pace with

:03:41. > :03:45.inflation. House prices stopped falling in 2013. They are predicted

:03:46. > :03:50.to rise in 2014. People who bought in the bubble years still face deep

:03:51. > :03:54.negative equity. Both north and south, banking remains a real

:03:55. > :03:59.economic drag, with many businesses still complaining they can't get the

:04:00. > :04:06.loans they need to grow. Ulster Bank, the biggest lender, managed to

:04:07. > :04:11.avoid being dumped into an RBS bad bank this year. They are due to

:04:12. > :04:16.report soon and there is uncertainty for staff. Stormont got a new

:04:17. > :04:20.Finance Minister, Simon Hamilton. His big idea is public sector

:04:21. > :04:24.reform. Whatever he comes up with, he is still operating in a tight

:04:25. > :04:28.spending environment. Economic growth should pick up in 2014, but

:04:29. > :04:34.the era of austerity is far from over. In local football, League

:04:35. > :04:38.leaders Linfield's match with Glenavon was postponed due to a

:04:39. > :04:42.waterlogged pitch. That allowed champions Cliftonville to close the

:04:43. > :04:44.gap at the top of the table to three points. They beat Coleraine 2-0. In

:04:45. > :04:51.today's other games: Portadown drew 1-1 with Crusaders, Glentoran

:04:52. > :04:54.defeated Dungannon 1-0. Warrenpoint won 3-2 against Ballinamallard and

:04:55. > :04:59.Ards drew 0-0 with Ballymena. Now for a look at the New Year weather

:05:00. > :05:03.forecast, here's Angie Phillips. New Year's Day has certainly been one

:05:04. > :05:07.for recoop rating in doors with that wet and windy weather around. We are

:05:08. > :05:11.not out of the woods yet. There is still a rain warning in place for

:05:12. > :05:19.this morning. A risk of localised flooding while we have persistent

:05:20. > :05:23.rain around. Windy to begin with, the breeze will ease down during the

:05:24. > :05:27.night. Apart from a few showers towards the west most places will

:05:28. > :05:33.turn dryer. Cool, three or four in the towns, rural spots could dip

:05:34. > :05:38.close to freezing with frost and icy patches. Tomorrow, bright and breezy

:05:39. > :05:42.day coming up. Most of us will see some decent, dry spells. First thing

:05:43. > :05:46.in the morning there will be showers coming in across the west and into

:05:47. > :05:51.the north. They will be sliding into the western side of Scotland, maybe

:05:52. > :05:57.turning wintry over the hills. One or two across Wales and the English

:05:58. > :06:01.Channel coasts. For most parts a dry and brighter day. Dry across the

:06:02. > :06:06.republic as well, cloud and rain will edge in there as we go into the

:06:07. > :06:10.after noofr into the far south-west. It won't reach Northern Ireland

:06:11. > :06:14.until the evening. The showers will have eased to give us dry, bright

:06:15. > :06:18.weather. The rain will edge its way in. We have an early warning for

:06:19. > :06:22.more heavy rain as we head into Friday, not just rain, strong winds

:06:23. > :06:28.or gales particularly around the coast. With high tides as well,

:06:29. > :06:33.there will be a risk of coastal flooding. Our next news is at

:06:34. > :06:34.10.40pm.
