:00:00. > :00:10.Thank you very much. That is it from us.

:00:11. > :00:19.Hello. Thousands of children are receiving results of their entrance

:00:20. > :00:25.tests for grammar school. Almost 40,000 pupils took the exams, and

:00:26. > :00:31.this is the fifth year schools have used them. The tests are not

:00:32. > :00:37.supported by the Department of Education. One teaching union says

:00:38. > :00:45.they have a negative impact on children. These transfer tests are

:00:46. > :00:49.unjust. Pupils are deemed a success or a failure at age ten. We are

:00:50. > :00:53.having to build up their self-esteem and their confidence am a but they

:00:54. > :01:00.lead us with the same A-level grades that they do from a grammar school,

:01:01. > :01:06.and the teachers union in Ulster is calling for these tests to be

:01:07. > :01:13.banned. Around a dozen families were evacuated from their homes after a

:01:14. > :01:17.suspicious object was discovered. It was a very difficult night for the

:01:18. > :01:20.families involved. They got a knock at the door from the police around

:01:21. > :01:24.midnight, telling them that a suspicious object had been found in

:01:25. > :01:28.the area, they needed to move and they needed to move quickly. Some of

:01:29. > :01:34.these families have very young children, and they had to go at

:01:35. > :01:41.around 12:30am. It was snowing. Police were here, as well as Army

:01:42. > :01:47.bomb experts. The indications are at the moment that this has not been a

:01:48. > :01:50.major incident, but as you can see, the police are still at the scene

:01:51. > :01:56.and are not taking any chances. The security operation is in place in

:01:57. > :02:01.Belfast for a nationalist civil rights march that is making its way

:02:02. > :02:06.to the city centre. The event has been organised to highlight what has

:02:07. > :02:15.been called a lack of leisure facilities. Two loyalist counterpart

:02:16. > :02:18.tests will also be taking place. A former US diplomat says he believes

:02:19. > :02:23.that the five executive parties will eventually agree to a compromise and

:02:24. > :02:29.flags, parades and the past, the stuff his final proposal. And new

:02:30. > :02:35.year's eve, he resented a proposal to the parties. These ideas provide

:02:36. > :02:40.a new baseline. Whether it is next week, next month or next year, the

:02:41. > :02:44.five parties are going to have to come back on these three issues, and

:02:45. > :02:49.the range of calmer mice is not going to be fundamentally different

:02:50. > :02:53.than what was in the -- the range of compromise is not going to become

:02:54. > :03:02.demented lee different -- fundamentally different. The people

:03:03. > :03:08.have been injured in a crash involving www. Were taking to the

:03:09. > :03:15.shock wrote involving... They were taking to hospital. The Sheffield

:03:16. > :03:22.Steelers are in a double-header this weekend. The Giants have tonight's

:03:23. > :03:29.first game with a lead on the Steelers. For us, we cannot afford

:03:30. > :03:35.to think so far ahead. We have to take it one game at a time. We have

:03:36. > :03:41.to come and play hard. We have great team spirit that has been there all

:03:42. > :03:45.year. Great bunch of guys and they work hard and they want to win. We

:03:46. > :03:55.can see that every night. They do not quit. It is always an intense

:03:56. > :04:00.game. On the Irish -- the Irish women's

:04:01. > :04:07.rugby team has the Scottish team in their opening game of the six

:04:08. > :04:13.Nations. The bad weather has taken its toll on a number of local

:04:14. > :04:17.premiership fixtures. A number of games have been postponed. Let's

:04:18. > :04:23.have a look at what the weather outlook is for the rest of the day.

:04:24. > :04:26.Good afternoon. It is the first day of February and we have had all

:04:27. > :04:31.sorts thrown at us and the last few hours. Increasing winds and his

:04:32. > :04:42.bands of rain, sleet and snow working their way in from the west.

:04:43. > :04:47.The wind is still an issue into the early hours of tomorrow morning, so

:04:48. > :04:50.we still have a wind warning in place. There is a potential for

:04:51. > :05:00.disruption, particularly on the coast. There could be some over

:05:01. > :05:05.topping and some coastal routes. Showers running through, less sleet

:05:06. > :05:13.and snow, but there could be some hail mixed in and the odd rumble of

:05:14. > :05:18.thunder. Temperatures, six or seven degrees, but still feeling cold in

:05:19. > :05:24.the wind and the rain. We have further spells of rain, high tides,

:05:25. > :05:29.running through the afternoon. Sleet and snow over the hills of Scotland,

:05:30. > :05:32.northern England, what across Wales, and the South West of England as

:05:33. > :05:40.well, where they are having severe flooding. Those high tides, coastal

:05:41. > :05:47.flooding is also a risk. The South East getaway likely -- lately in

:05:48. > :05:50.comparison. Going back to Northern Ireland, for this evening and

:05:51. > :05:55.tonight, we hold onto the guild force winds as they swing around on

:05:56. > :05:59.the south into the West, and there will be plenty of showers rifling

:06:00. > :06:06.through. The temperatures will drop tonight. A few icy patch it -- a few

:06:07. > :06:11.icy patches. Tomorrow, a better day coming up. More in the way up right

:06:12. > :06:16.spells. Still blustery, but it should gradually dry up after a

:06:17. > :06:20.shower he start. It looks as though many places will see something

:06:21. > :06:24.drier. Highs of around seven degrees but still feeling cold in the wind.

:06:25. > :06:32.Into Monday, with more wet and windy weather on the way. That is it for

:06:33. > :06:33.now. Our next local news is at 7:05pm. During that span. Bye-bye.
