:00:00. > 3:59:59Devon, the storm brought 40 millimetres of rain in

:00:00. > :00:11.Good evening. A popular restaurant has been destroyed by fire in

:00:12. > :00:15.Coleraine. It broke out at the Yoko Noodle Bar at around teatime. A

:00:16. > :00:20.nearby restautrant also had to be evacuated. No-one was injured. Live

:00:21. > :00:30.now to our reporter, Kevin Sharkey, who is at the scene. Kevin, how did

:00:31. > :00:37.it start? Valentine's night, one of the bus nights of the year for the

:00:38. > :00:43.restaurant trade and popular night for couples everywhere. As you can

:00:44. > :00:49.see behind me, the Yoko Restaurant now an emergency scene. The fire

:00:50. > :00:52.broke out at 6. 6.30pm this evening. Party goers were sitting down and

:00:53. > :00:56.the restaurant staff were preparing their meals, about to serve, when

:00:57. > :01:03.the alarm went. At that stage everybody was evacuated. People were

:01:04. > :01:07.evacuating from an adjourning Indian restaurant. I spoke to the manager

:01:08. > :01:12.of the Indian restaurant. He spoke of the panic when the alarm went

:01:13. > :01:16.off. I told my customers that everybody had to leave. The wind was

:01:17. > :01:20.blowing this way. All the smoke was coming into my restaurant. It was

:01:21. > :01:26.difficult to work in my restaurant. It happened so quickly, within

:01:27. > :01:32.minutes because of the strong winds, all the smoke was coming this way.

:01:33. > :01:38.What is the latest there from the scene? Well, as you can see, Tina,

:01:39. > :01:43.the emergency situation is continuing. Now, the Fire Service

:01:44. > :01:47.are scaling it down. There is still smoke billowing from the roof. A lot

:01:48. > :01:53.of staff are standing around wondering what happened tonight. For

:01:54. > :01:58.the owners of the Yoko Intole Bar, tomorrow morning they have to return

:01:59. > :02:06.here and pick up the pieces. Kevin Sharkey, live from Coleraine, thank

:02:07. > :02:08.you. A man from Newry says he is going through a "reoccurring

:02:09. > :02:12.nightmare." His nephew has died after being hit by a car in San

:02:13. > :02:15.Francisco. His son was killed in similar circumstances, also in the

:02:16. > :02:18.United States. Paul Lambert, who was 35, was knocked down on Wednesday

:02:19. > :02:24.morning. His cousin was killed by a hit-and-run driver eight months ago.

:02:25. > :02:32.This from Nicola Weir. This is where Paul Lambert was knocked down. Hit

:02:33. > :02:38.as he cross -- crossed the road with friends after buying a sandwich. A

:02:39. > :02:46.pedestrian was left dead on the edge of Pacific Heights. Had been working

:02:47. > :02:52.for a charity in ss -- is ofis of. He was due to return to his job in

:02:53. > :02:59.Madrid next year. A speeding car came around the corner and struck

:03:00. > :03:06.him. Threw him 30, 40 yards down the road. At the moment, it's kind of

:03:07. > :03:13.unreal. It is. It's... We're really stunned. And, until we get Paul's

:03:14. > :03:17.body home, it's, as I say, unreal. The second tragedy to hit the

:03:18. > :03:22.family. Paul's cousin, Kevin Bell, was killed by a hit-and-run driver

:03:23. > :03:27.outside his apartment in New York in June. Much the same as Paul. Kevin

:03:28. > :03:31.was out on a night and returning home heaven was outside his

:03:32. > :03:37.apartment. He got out of a taxi. Again, a speeding car hit him and

:03:38. > :03:43.drove on. So, it's happened twice now. It's terrible. The cousins

:03:44. > :03:47.attended the Abbey Christian Brother's Grammar School in Newry.

:03:48. > :03:51.It's very difficult for the family. It's hard to believe. I'm sure they

:03:52. > :03:55.are in shock, having gone through it once, they would have to go through

:03:56. > :03:59.it a second time with someone so loved by them all. Paul Lambert's

:04:00. > :04:09.body is expected to be brought home on Monday. Nicola Weir, BBC

:04:10. > :04:12.Newsline, Newry. A woman has been hurt in a crash involving two cars

:04:13. > :04:15.near Rasharkin in County Antrim. The collision was at Craigs Road this

:04:16. > :04:17.afternoon. The Police say the woman's injuries are not

:04:18. > :04:20.life-threatening. Driving conditions because of snow and rain have been

:04:21. > :04:26.appalling today. Patricia Robie's report begins with that crash near

:04:27. > :04:29.Rasharkin. A car and home were damaged as drivers struggled with

:04:30. > :04:33.the weather. The police have been urging care and caution on the

:04:34. > :04:37.roads. This crash happened after two cars collided. Elsewhere, one of the

:04:38. > :04:41.high ground commuter routes in Northern Ireland today became a

:04:42. > :04:45.high-risk route. Through the day, drivers have had to take their time

:04:46. > :04:51.along the main Londonderry to Belfast road. The police have warned

:04:52. > :04:55.motorists to drive with care. Then this evening conditions worsened.

:04:56. > :05:00.Police closed the road for a time. The road is open again, it's only

:05:01. > :05:05.passable with extreme care. There were Arctic conditions towards the

:05:06. > :05:09.north coast, with the Limavady Coleraine Road posing problems for

:05:10. > :05:13.drivers. In Belfast, more difficult conditions on the roads, rain the

:05:14. > :05:18.problem here. Throughout the afternoon the constant downpour took

:05:19. > :05:24.its toll. The end of the week rush-hour slower than usual, with

:05:25. > :05:30.longtailbacks. Disruption wasn't confined to the roads. Ulster rugby

:05:31. > :05:33.players had to wait to see if their Pro12 match against the Scarlets

:05:34. > :05:39.would go-ahead. The rain just kept coming. In the end, under foot

:05:40. > :05:48.conditions were too dangerous and the game was postponed. Patricia

:05:49. > :05:51.Robie, BBC Newsline. A man from south Belfast has been jailed for

:05:52. > :05:55.killing a pedestrian in the city two years ago. Steven McManus, who is 24

:05:56. > :05:58.and from Breda Park, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous

:05:59. > :06:01.driving. His car struck 25-year-old Niall Harrigan on Cromac Street in

:06:02. > :06:04.2012. The driver was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison,

:06:05. > :06:06.half of which he will spend on probation. He was disqualified from

:06:07. > :06:11.driving for three years. When George Clooney's new movie, called The

:06:12. > :06:16.Monuments Men, opened in Belfast tonight, in the cinema audience was

:06:17. > :06:19.a man from the east of the city who played a part in this war story -

:06:20. > :06:23.not in the film, but real-life events. BBC Newsline's Mervyn Jess

:06:24. > :06:30.has been talking to the former US soldier from Belfast.

:06:31. > :06:36.Teddy was born in New York, but brought up in Belfast. When America

:06:37. > :06:40.entered the Second World War he joined the US army, fighting his way

:06:41. > :06:46.through France, Germany and to Austria. It was here that he found

:06:47. > :06:55.himself deep inside a saltmine, handling a Nazi treasure trove of

:06:56. > :07:03.stolen artworks. These crates were stacked up in it. We were told they

:07:04. > :07:07.were Goerings' treasures that he'd taken from different cities from

:07:08. > :07:12.museums and one thing and another. Now, that little-known episode of

:07:13. > :07:17.the war has been made into a movie, starring and directored by George

:07:18. > :07:22.Clooney. We've been tasked with the finding and protecting of over five

:07:23. > :07:28.million pieces of stolen after the artwork. There were art treasures

:07:29. > :07:36.stolen from different places. But not on your shift? Not on our shift.

:07:37. > :07:41.None stolen. They were watching us too closely. This mission was never

:07:42. > :07:45.designed to succeed. If they were honest, they would tell us. They

:07:46. > :07:52.would tell us with this many people dying, who cares about art. Millions

:07:53. > :07:58.pounds worth of dollars of stuff, didn't know anything about it. It

:07:59. > :08:02.must have been some monies worth in it. That was the only part I had

:08:03. > :08:08.with the art treasures. Shifting them from the saltmines onto the

:08:09. > :08:12.trucks and taking them back to the rightful owners. We always thought

:08:13. > :08:17.of that though. The 94-year-old veteran will be casting a critical

:08:18. > :08:24.eye over how Hollywood depicts what happened all those years ago in

:08:25. > :08:30.Austria. The Now the weekend weather forecast now. Heavy rain, which led

:08:31. > :08:35.to flooding, snow, particularly over the high ground, with strong winds,

:08:36. > :08:39.blizzard conditions on high level roads too. It's warmed up enough so

:08:40. > :08:43.that snow will not be a big problem tonight. The heavy rain warning is

:08:44. > :08:47.in force right through until Saturday morning. Although it does

:08:48. > :08:50.look as though the rain will be less intense tonight. Over the highest

:08:51. > :08:54.roads, particularly in the Glenshane, there could be snow by

:08:55. > :08:58.tomorrow morning. With temperatures falling low it could be icy here.

:08:59. > :09:03.Otherwise, ice and frost will not be a problem tonight. Tomorrow, the

:09:04. > :09:06.blustery wind will pick up, making it feel cool. There will be showers

:09:07. > :09:11.around. There will be dry spells too. You can see good gaps between

:09:12. > :09:14.those showers through the second-half of the morning. Sunshine

:09:15. > :09:18.coming out across Northern Ireland too. Much better day also for the

:09:19. > :09:24.Republic of Ireland, with a lot of dry and bright weather. Likewise,

:09:25. > :09:27.for Scotland. Heavy rain to Wales and northern England which will move

:09:28. > :09:30.into the Midland and southern England during the day. The strong

:09:31. > :09:36.gusty winds over the south-east will edge away quite quickly too. It's a

:09:37. > :09:39.better day for Northern Ireland. Not completely dry, yes, there will be

:09:40. > :09:43.showers around, yes, it will be quite blustery. In between some

:09:44. > :09:47.sunshine with temperatures fairly decent at around seven degrees. On

:09:48. > :09:50.Sunday, there will be dry weather, particularly through the morning.

:09:51. > :09:54.More cloud with some showers in the afternoon and on Sunday night,

:09:55. > :10:00.unfortunately, more wet and windy weather returns for the new week.

:10:01. > :10:02.That is it for now. Have a great weekend. Goodbye.
