:00:11. > :00:14.Good afternoon and welcome to BBC Newsline. A number of restaurants

:00:15. > :00:18.and shops were evacuated last night after a fire in the Riverside

:00:19. > :00:22.Regional Centre in Coleraine. It started in the kitchen at the Yoko

:00:23. > :00:30.Bistro and Noodle Bar. The restaurant was busy for Valentines

:00:31. > :00:33.night. No-one was injured. It took 40 firefighters three hours to bring

:00:34. > :00:36.the blaze under control. Police say they don't believe the fire was

:00:37. > :00:39.started deliberately. The owner of the Indian restaurant next door says

:00:40. > :00:46.the high winds made the situation worse. I have to tell my customers

:00:47. > :00:52.to leave, because the wind was blowing this way. All the smoke was

:00:53. > :00:57.blowing into my restaurant, it was difficult to work into my

:00:58. > :01:02.restaurant, it happened so quickly. Because of the strong winds, all the

:01:03. > :01:05.smoke was coming this way. Around 60,000 homes in the Republic

:01:06. > :01:08.are still without power after the storm there on Wednesday. It's

:01:09. > :01:14.understood some customers may not have their electricity restored

:01:15. > :01:16.until Monday or Tuesday. Up to 70 NIE engineers are helping to restore

:01:17. > :01:19.supply. The Republic's phone operator, Eircom, says around 40,000

:01:20. > :01:24.faults have been reported in the phone network.

:01:25. > :01:26.The former Director of Communications and Marketing for

:01:27. > :01:31.Londonderry's Culture Company has lost an industrial tribunal for

:01:32. > :01:34.unfair dismissal. Garwin Downey was sacked by the company for gross

:01:35. > :01:39.misconduct after speaking to the press about a shift of budget to

:01:40. > :01:45.Derry City Council. It's understood he's considering an appeal.

:01:46. > :01:48.More than 30 local residents have held a demonstration against plans

:01:49. > :01:53.by Queens University to build new student accommodation in South

:01:54. > :01:55.Belfast. Queens say it needs to knock down this mansion on

:01:56. > :02:00.Lennoxvale to house flats for international students studying at

:02:01. > :02:03.the university. They also say they've modified their proposal

:02:04. > :02:09.which is before planners, due to the local concerns. But residents

:02:10. > :02:19.believe modern buildings to house over 150 students will spoil the

:02:20. > :02:24.area. One, to make sure that this wonderful conservation area is

:02:25. > :02:29.preserved. Not only for myself, my own family and for our community

:02:30. > :02:35.here are but also for future generations. If this development

:02:36. > :02:39.goes ahead, it would ruin forever. There would be no chance of getting

:02:40. > :02:47.it back to what it was, and this part is totally unique, quiet

:02:48. > :02:49.backwater in a busy area. The controversial subject of

:02:50. > :02:54.euthanasia is the hard hitting topic of the debut play of writer Donal

:02:55. > :02:58.O'Hagan. The production premieres in the Baby Grand at the Opera House in

:02:59. > :03:08.Belfast later this month as Patricia Robie reports. Assisted suicide, a

:03:09. > :03:12.subject of great debate at home and abroad. The thorny issue is brought

:03:13. > :03:17.home to Northern Ireland when a young journalist returns from London

:03:18. > :03:23.to Belfast to find his father Tom is terminally ill and wants to end his

:03:24. > :03:31.life. His family have other I is. It is and must the riveted raises the

:03:32. > :03:35.questions, if that ever happens to me, put something in my tea. With

:03:36. > :03:38.Tom, it is a situation where something does happen to him so he

:03:39. > :03:43.has two face the reality of how he deals with that. The writer drew

:03:44. > :03:51.upon personal experience and developed the play with others. It

:03:52. > :03:54.is looking at assisted suicide, it is a really difficult topic but the

:03:55. > :03:59.way he does it is incredibly accessible, which is what attracted

:04:00. > :04:05.me to it. Fantastic stage action and also film and interviews we have

:04:06. > :04:11.recorded and performed during the production. I think the playwright

:04:12. > :04:18.has written a very compassionate, intelligent play. And it is a

:04:19. > :04:26.serious subject. Yes, it has every right to be on the stage. The play

:04:27. > :04:27.opens on February 25. Well it's a brighter day today,

:04:28. > :04:39.Barra Best has the weather forecast. Not a bad start to the weekend,

:04:40. > :04:42.plenty of dry and sunny weather, the odd shower coming in on a strong

:04:43. > :04:48.northerly wind but in between, plenty of bright and sunny weather

:04:49. > :04:53.to enjoy. Across Ireland, a pretty decent day, plenty of sunny weather

:04:54. > :04:59.towards the south-west but a much more settled weather across Britain.

:05:00. > :05:04.We still have weather warnings in force, little bit right towards the

:05:05. > :05:11.North of England. Scotland, a windy day. For us, as we go towards this

:05:12. > :05:15.evening, a few showers continue to linger towards the north coast. This

:05:16. > :05:22.evening and overnight, most of those will die away. Towns and cities fall

:05:23. > :05:29.into freezing and below so as a result, some frost and ice as well.

:05:30. > :05:35.The Met office had issued a warning for ice, something to bear in mind.

:05:36. > :05:42.Otherwise, a fine day on Sunday with plenty of outdoor weather to enjoy.

:05:43. > :05:45.One or two pockets of mist and fog, that lifting quite quickly. 20 of

:05:46. > :05:54.trying right weather throughout the day. -- plenty of dry and right

:05:55. > :05:58.weather. Eventually as we go through the day, it is going to cloud over

:05:59. > :06:04.from the South, bringing some unsettled weather as we go into

:06:05. > :06:09.Monday. For Monday, a much more unsettled picture. We can expect our

:06:10. > :06:15.breaks of rain especially in the east and South-East. -- outbreaks.

:06:16. > :06:19.The winds at least are changing direction for a while. They will

:06:20. > :06:27.help lift the temperatures for a bit. With the cloud and the rain, it

:06:28. > :06:30.will feel cooler than that. Between now and Monday, plenty of dry and

:06:31. > :06:33.sunny weather. We will keep you updated.
