:00:00. > :00:00.That's it for now. We're back with the late news

:00:00. > :00:12.Good evening. The Linfield manager David Jeffrey has announced that

:00:13. > :00:20.he's to leave his job at the end of the season. A number of restaurants

:00:21. > :00:24.and shops had to be evacuated last night. It started in the kitchen of

:00:25. > :00:28.the bistro bar. The restaurant was busy for Valentines Day and night,

:00:29. > :00:32.no one was injured. It took 40 firefighters three hours to bring

:00:33. > :00:41.the blaze under control. Police say they don't believe the fire was

:00:42. > :00:45.started deliberately. The Linfield manager David Jeffrey has announced

:00:46. > :00:49.that he's to leave his job at the end of the season. He was appointed

:00:50. > :00:52.manager in January 1997, and to date has led the team to nine league

:00:53. > :00:55.titles and seven Irish Cups. Nial Foster reports from Windsor Park.

:00:56. > :00:58.The news that David Jeffrey's 17 year reign here at Windsor Park came

:00:59. > :01:02.like a bolt from the blue when it was announced on the Linfield

:01:03. > :01:07.website, shortly before the fixture this afternoon. It also came as a

:01:08. > :01:12.surprise for Linfield fans. I'm shocked because he's doing a

:01:13. > :01:15.wonderful job. I don't see who is going to come in and replace them.

:01:16. > :01:21.He's a lovely man through and through, in his playing days and his

:01:22. > :01:26.days at manager and the trophies he has one, there's nobody better than

:01:27. > :01:32.him. He's done the job. The record has been fantastic. The success he

:01:33. > :01:37.has brought a Linfield has been enormous. I don't think they will

:01:38. > :01:42.replace NEC. Speaking after the match, he wouldn't be drawn on the

:01:43. > :01:47.matter. I've made the decision, and it was important that I communicated

:01:48. > :01:51.that early. But my focus and my only focus is trying to wrestle the

:01:52. > :01:56.Gibson cup back to Linfield football club. So if you don't mind, I will

:01:57. > :01:59.talk about my decision at the end of the year. There's no doubt it feels

:02:00. > :02:05.like the end of an era for the Blues. More than 30 local residents

:02:06. > :02:08.have held a demonstration against plans by Queen's University to build

:02:09. > :02:11.new accommodation in South Belfast. The application to house foreign

:02:12. > :02:21.students there is currently under consideration. Dan Stanton has more

:02:22. > :02:25.details. Voting with their feet, these local residents are opposed to

:02:26. > :02:32.plans to knock down this large house and replace it with flats for just

:02:33. > :02:37.over 150 students. We've got a total of 2200 in the village. This would

:02:38. > :02:42.create another student village. We would be sandwiched in between. It

:02:43. > :02:46.is not students but the concentration of students in this

:02:47. > :02:51.area that causes the problems. Even just this week past, I've been woken

:02:52. > :02:56.twice in the middle of the night by noisy students coming up the road. I

:02:57. > :03:00.am a conservation architect by profession. I am an adviser in

:03:01. > :03:07.conservation issues. If these buildings, original buildings, are

:03:08. > :03:13.demolished and replaced, then the whole raison d'etre of having a

:03:14. > :03:18.conservation area is undermined. It will be destroying the suburban

:03:19. > :03:23.town/ -- townscape, the gardens, the hedges. The application is currently

:03:24. > :03:31.being considered. A decision is expected soon. Queen's have already

:03:32. > :03:37.modified their plans but say accommodation is needed for foreign

:03:38. > :03:41.students to study here in the city. The controversial subject of

:03:42. > :03:45.euthanasia is the hard-hitting topic of a play which premiers at the

:03:46. > :03:56.Opera house in Belfast later this month. Assisted suicide, a subject

:03:57. > :04:00.of great debate at home and abroad. The thorny issue is brought home to

:04:01. > :04:04.Northern Ireland when a young journalist returns from London to

:04:05. > :04:09.Belfast to find his father, Tom, is terminally ill. He wants to end his

:04:10. > :04:18.life, his family have other ideas. It raises those questions, everybody

:04:19. > :04:22.sometimes would say, if that ever happens to me, put something in my

:04:23. > :04:28.tea. With Tom, it is a situation where it happens to him so he has to

:04:29. > :04:31.face the reality of that. The writer drew upon personal experience and

:04:32. > :04:38.then developed the play with others. The end result is this. It is

:04:39. > :04:43.looking at assisted suicide and euthanasia. It's a really difficult

:04:44. > :04:46.topic but the rate -- the way it does it is really accessible. I was

:04:47. > :04:53.attracted to not only fantastic stage action but also through live

:04:54. > :04:56.interviews we've recorded and performed or played during the

:04:57. > :05:01.production. I think the playwright has written a very compassionate

:05:02. > :05:09.play, a very intelligent play. It is a serious subject. Yes, it has every

:05:10. > :05:17.right to be on stage. Produced by Accidental Theatre, the play opens

:05:18. > :05:19.on the 25th. Let's see if the rain is going to continue tonight and

:05:20. > :05:28.tomorrow. We had a few showers today but most

:05:29. > :05:31.of those are dying out. As temperatures fall, we do have a

:05:32. > :05:36.warning for ice forming in some untreated areas tonight and into

:05:37. > :05:48.tomorrow morning. Most of the showers will clear away, so largely

:05:49. > :05:52.dry night. The chilly start to Sunday but overall it's not going to

:05:53. > :05:56.be to buy the day. Plenty of good weather for getting outdoors. The

:05:57. > :06:03.chilly start, some mist and fog around which lifts quite quickly.

:06:04. > :06:06.Elsewhere, it's a much better picture right across Britain.

:06:07. > :06:12.Certainly a well-deserved, better, brighter, sunny day to enjoy. Across

:06:13. > :06:16.Ireland it is going to turn increasingly cloudy and wet, as the

:06:17. > :06:21.next system pushes up. It brings rain at first and eventually pushes

:06:22. > :06:25.northwards for everyone. Tomorrow evening will cloud over but staying

:06:26. > :06:28.largely dry. It won't be until tomorrow evening that we see the

:06:29. > :06:36.next rain coming into parts of the West. An unsettled picture into

:06:37. > :06:40.Monday. The new week getting off to an unsettled start. Spells of rain,

:06:41. > :06:44.rather cloudy but the winds change direction, they'll be coming from

:06:45. > :06:54.the south. We will keep you updated on all the weather on BBC News line

:06:55. > :07:02.and on our Twitter page. We will be back tomorrow evening. In the

:07:03. > :07:04.meantime, you can keep up to date with local news on BBC Radio Ulster

:07:05. > :07:06.or on our local
