:00:00. > :00:00.moment. They'll be live in Kiev assessing what chance today's deal

:00:00. > :00:17.Good evening. 200 workers face an anxious weekend after the firm they

:00:18. > :00:21.work for went into administration. KPL Contracts is based in Dungiven,

:00:22. > :00:23.but carry out work across Northern Ireland. Our economics and business

:00:24. > :00:26.editor John Campbell reports. Concedement The vans and lorries are

:00:27. > :00:30.a common sight across Northern Ireland, they do the spade work for

:00:31. > :00:34.utility firms installing and maintaining things like water pipes

:00:35. > :00:38.an street lights but they got into property development in a big way.

:00:39. > :00:43.There were plans to build more than 2,000 homes here, but only the first

:00:44. > :00:46.phase was delivered. The property borrowing amounted to as much as ?50

:00:47. > :00:50.million. In a statement the firm's founder

:00:51. > :01:03.said: that meant administration was the

:01:04. > :01:09.only option. And workers were called together to hear the bad news.

:01:10. > :01:15.Their future are are uncertain, all the reluctant to be speak as they

:01:16. > :01:19.left the headquarters. KPL is a significant employer, there is a

:01:20. > :01:24.network of sob contractors are who are likely to lose money A lot of

:01:25. > :01:28.the work they would have carried out would have been through sub

:01:29. > :01:32.contractor, most of whom are local here, now, I do know that a small

:01:33. > :01:37.number of those have secured contracts with other companies, so

:01:38. > :01:41.there might be some relief in that. The administrators are talking to

:01:42. > :01:44.KPL's main customers. It is those discussions which will determine the

:01:45. > :01:49.future of this business and its workers.

:01:50. > :01:54.By now, this is a sadly familiar tale. A solid trading business

:01:55. > :01:59.undone by property boomings and it may not be the last, as the banks

:02:00. > :02:00.continue the painful process of working through all their bad

:02:01. > :02:08.property loans. Police investigating the suspicious

:02:09. > :02:11.death of a newborn baby found 30 years ago say they've established a

:02:12. > :02:15.DNA profile which may help them find the parents. The child, who was

:02:16. > :02:20.found near Lisburn, is believed to have died of head injuries. Conor

:02:21. > :02:26.Macauley reports. The discovery was made on the banks of the river near

:02:27. > :02:30.Lisburn 30 years ago today. It flows by the road just outside

:02:31. > :02:33.the village, a sparsely populated spot.

:02:34. > :02:37.It would have taken those responsible only minutes to carry

:02:38. > :02:41.the tiny body of the newborn along the river, and dump it.

:02:42. > :02:48.This police photograph shows the scene at the time. The child had

:02:49. > :02:53.been born alive, a postmortem examination revealed he died of head

:02:54. > :02:57.injuries. On 21st February a woman out walking her dog here, along the

:02:58. > :03:01.banks of the river, not far from the village found the body of the dead

:03:02. > :03:05.baby boy. He had been placed in a green

:03:06. > :03:09.plastic bag, and left among the brambles.

:03:10. > :03:15.This is the bag the baby was found in. The image released today as part

:03:16. > :03:20.of a wider appeal. Using advances in forensic science,

:03:21. > :03:23.police have now extracted a DNA profile. They believe they can use

:03:24. > :03:27.it to match the child to its parents.

:03:28. > :03:31.He did survive after birth and breathe. He had sustained head

:03:32. > :03:35.injuries. The cause of those injuries is a line of inquiry, I am

:03:36. > :03:39.keeping an open mind about that. The appeal is to the parents who clearly

:03:40. > :03:45.have been thinking about this for the last 30 year, my appeal is to

:03:46. > :03:52.come for wand and see if we the bring resolution to tragic case.

:03:53. > :03:54.Police say if anyone knows who the child belongs to they can tell

:03:55. > :04:00.police who will carry out a DNA comparison The family of a

:04:01. > :04:04.Londonderry man who was killed by a speeding drunk driver in 2009 say

:04:05. > :04:06.they want the legal system to review the sentences handed down by the

:04:07. > :04:08.courts. . Martin Gallagher's family say the

:04:09. > :04:17.sentencing policy is inconsistent and leaves families confused. Keiron

:04:18. > :04:21.Tourish reports. Martin's parents regularly visit his grave. A

:04:22. > :04:26.poignant quiet moment, when they can reflect on a life so full of joy and

:04:27. > :04:30.good cue mow, the 25-year-old was walking home from Hallowe'en

:04:31. > :04:42.celebrations in 2009. When he was killed by a drunk driver.

:04:43. > :04:50.He served three years in jail. He raised money for charities, The

:04:51. > :04:55.Gallagher family believe the sentence was unduly linient and

:04:56. > :04:59.raised their concerns who lenient and raised their concern, the

:05:00. > :05:03.27-year-old constable died after a man admitted her manslaughter.

:05:04. > :05:08.He was given an indeterminate sentence, but must serve at least

:05:09. > :05:12.six years before review. He had been drinking heavily and on drugs when

:05:13. > :05:17.he drove through two red lights before the fatal crash.

:05:18. > :05:22.It was drink and drugs and speeding, exactly the same as Martin. Leaving

:05:23. > :05:27.the scene. They left the scene of the accident. So how can they say

:05:28. > :05:31.there is a difference snrens There is no-one to tell you how to cope

:05:32. > :05:38.when you lose a son. You are broken inside. You are torn apart. Martin's

:05:39. > :05:41.parents who are now part of the DOE road safety campaign say their

:05:42. > :05:46.concern is focussed on a legal system they feel is confusing for

:05:47. > :05:50.bereaved families. The Department of Justice says ultimately it is down

:05:51. > :05:54.the individual judge, having heard all the evidence, to pass sentence.

:05:55. > :05:59.The minister says there will be times when some sentences are

:06:00. > :06:06.criticised. But he is confident the measures are in place to address

:06:07. > :06:10.concerns of undue leniency, the family say a review of sentences is

:06:11. > :06:13.too late for them but longer jail terms may act as a stronger

:06:14. > :06:18.deterrent in future. For now they are only left with memories of a

:06:19. > :06:22.much loved son. A review

:06:23. > :06:26.More than 100 young people attending the DJ Hardwell concert earlier this

:06:27. > :06:29.month were treated for the effects of drink and drugs. The proposed

:06:30. > :06:32.changes include appointing extra staff to liaise between the

:06:33. > :06:38.Odyssey's own paramedics and the emergency services. The Odyssey

:06:39. > :06:41.Arena's medical team will also undergo training by the Ambulance

:06:42. > :06:44.Service. Meanwhile, darts fans have called on

:06:45. > :06:47.promoters and management at the Odyssey Arena to do more to control

:06:48. > :06:50.drunken supporters attending Premier League Matches at the venue.

:06:51. > :06:54.Thousands of darts supporters were at the Arena last night when the

:06:55. > :06:57.event was marred by fights and other incidents. Management of the Odyssey

:06:58. > :07:07.Arena were asked for a response, but said they were making no comment.

:07:08. > :07:09.Two independent reports have highlighted shortcomings in how the

:07:10. > :07:11.Victims and Survivors Service operates. Consultants appointed by

:07:12. > :07:14.the Victims' Commissioner have concluded the service is too

:07:15. > :07:17.bureaucratic and needs to be more user-friendly. Peter Robinson and

:07:18. > :07:20.Martin McGuinness, whose department funds the service, have agreed to

:07:21. > :07:32.implement 55 recommendations. A move welcomed by the Victims'

:07:33. > :07:35.Commissioner. It is very unfortunate that people

:07:36. > :07:40.have said to us previously, that they have been made to feel like

:07:41. > :07:45.beggar, and one of the things that is key to the recommendations, is

:07:46. > :07:51.that people are treated with dignity and people are treated with respect.

:07:52. > :07:54.Football now, and the big two clash between Linfield and Glentoran ended

:07:55. > :07:58.in a 1-0 victory for the Blues at the Oval. Sean Ward was brought down

:07:59. > :08:01.in the box by Jordan Stewart early in the second half. Matthew Tipton

:08:02. > :08:03.stepped up to score the resulting penalty. The win sees Linfield

:08:04. > :08:07.return to the top of the Irish Premiership. In tonight's other

:08:08. > :08:10.games Crusaders against Glenavon finished 2-2 and Ballinamallard were

:08:11. > :08:11.1-0 winners over Ards. Now here's Cecilia Daly with the weekend

:08:12. > :08:32.weather. Hello. It is going to be chilly

:08:33. > :08:35.tonight, although the breeze will keep temperatures above freezing,

:08:36. > :08:39.still some showers round as well, particularly across the west, but it

:08:40. > :08:44.will be clear at times, in the east, and so possibly a bit of frost on

:08:45. > :08:47.the grass first thing tomorrow in some sheltered spots. We are looking

:08:48. > :08:51.at rain eventually moving in from the west tomorrow, but to begin with

:08:52. > :08:55.Saturday will bring dry weather, some early brightness for a time

:08:56. > :08:58.too, especially in the east, but overall cloudy, and rain is just

:08:59. > :09:03.waiting to come in from the west later in if day. It will become

:09:04. > :09:06.heavy at time, especially through Saturday night and western counties

:09:07. > :09:09.are at risk from some further flooding. So looking at the bigger

:09:10. > :09:15.picture, there is the weather front. It is creeping into the west of ear

:09:16. > :09:18.lard during tomorrow. It will bring -- Ireland. Many eastern central and

:09:19. > :09:21.southern areas of Britain will have a lot of dry weather tomorrow. There

:09:22. > :09:24.will be dry weather for the south-east of Ireland, just the odd

:09:25. > :09:28.shower coming through until later in the day and where the sun is

:09:29. > :09:32.shining, temperatures come to be in double figures. It won't be as cold

:09:33. > :09:35.in Northern Ireland, despite it being blustery, cloudy, with rain on

:09:36. > :09:39.and off through the day, temperatures up to nine, possibly

:09:40. > :09:45.ten degree, tomorrow night that rain will become persistent and heavy,

:09:46. > :09:49.there will be heavy and strong winds, winds could touch gale force,

:09:50. > :09:52.still wet and windy, but the rain will edge away, the winds will ease

:09:53. > :09:56.a bit, and the second half of the day will become somewhat drier, with

:09:57. > :09:58.showers, so some dry weather round this weekend, and not as cold

:09:59. > :10:00.either. That is it, have a great weekend.

:10:01. > :10:03.Bye.
