:00:00. > :00:16.Good evening and welcome to BBC Newsline. A young man is critically
:00:17. > :00:20.ill in hospital after he was assaulted in the Antrim Road area of
:00:21. > :00:25.North Belfast. He was one of a group of four men attacked. Two men - one
:00:26. > :00:29.aged 31, the other 23 - have been arrested in connection with the
:00:30. > :00:35.assault. Helen Jones reports. This was what people living on the Antrim
:00:36. > :00:38.Road woke up to this morning - a sizeable section of the road closed
:00:39. > :00:42.A crime scene and attention to detail is the key in finding out
:00:43. > :00:48.what happened here in the early hours of this morning. An assault
:00:49. > :00:52.which has left a man seriously ill in hospital. Investigation focussed
:00:53. > :00:58.here. There was an argument over what exactly isn't clear, but what
:00:59. > :01:04.is clear four men were assaulted, one of whom, a 24-year-old is
:01:05. > :01:07.seriously ill in hospital with a head injury. The flat here is
:01:08. > :01:12.connected in some way. The motivation is under investigation.
:01:13. > :01:16.Two men are being questioned by the police. In this case, anybody that
:01:17. > :01:21.has you know difficulties, the police should be the police that
:01:22. > :01:26.they go to sort it out. Nobody should take the law into their own
:01:27. > :01:31.hands. This is the type of mob rule law that is not acceptable. It must
:01:32. > :01:36.be through the police. The Antrim Road has sips re-opened. -- since
:01:37. > :01:43.reopened. But the investigation into the assault continues. A woman in
:01:44. > :01:46.her 80s had to receive medical treatment at her home in Lurgan
:01:47. > :01:49.after she was assaulted by a burglar. The woman disturbed the
:01:50. > :01:52.intruder in the house at May Street at about a quarter to six this
:01:53. > :01:56.morning. The pensioner and another elderly woman who live in the house
:01:57. > :02:03.are said to have been badly shaken by the ordeal. It's believed the man
:02:04. > :02:06.fled empty-handed. A woman has been pulled from her car during a
:02:07. > :02:10.hijacking in west Belfast. It happened in Hawthorne Street shortly
:02:11. > :02:14.before 9 o'clock last night. The thief made off in the car which is
:02:15. > :02:17.thought to have been driven past Queen's University later the same
:02:18. > :02:22.night. The woman was not injured, but is said to be shaken up by the
:02:23. > :02:26.incident. The Assembly is expected to discuss the loss of more than 200
:02:27. > :02:29.jobs at KPL Contracts in Dungiven when it meets on Monday. Yesterday,
:02:30. > :02:33.administrators at the company, which carries out work for utility firms
:02:34. > :02:36.like BT, NIE and NI Water, said efforts to save the business had
:02:37. > :02:48.been unsuccessful. Local MLA Cathal O Hoisin says it's a massive blow
:02:49. > :02:55.for the area. I hope to bring it to the Assembly to outline this is a
:02:56. > :02:59.company that has delivered for the Department of Regional Development
:03:00. > :03:03.and all the utility companies across the north. The expertise, the man
:03:04. > :03:09.power, is all on the ground and how much of that might cost the wider
:03:10. > :03:15.economy should we have to outsource that or go across the water for it.
:03:16. > :03:18.Onto rugby and Ireland's dreams of a Grand Slam and Triple Crown in the
:03:19. > :03:21.Six Nations were dashed yesterday, as England came from behind to win
:03:22. > :03:24.by 13-10 in a closely contested match at Twickenham. However,
:03:25. > :03:27.despite the defeat, Ireland sit top of the table on points difference
:03:28. > :03:36.and can still win the Championship. Thomas Niblock reports from London.
:03:37. > :03:43.After an absorbing but uninspiring fist half, the winning and losing of
:03:44. > :03:50.the game came after the interval. Carney broke through to give Ireland
:03:51. > :03:55.the lead. Johnny Sexton converted and scored this penalty to give
:03:56. > :03:59.Ireland a 10-3 advantage. But the final half hour belonged to England.
:04:00. > :04:07.Farrell reducing the gap. Before the moment that changed everything.
:04:08. > :04:12.England broke, Browne carried, before Care had all the time in the
:04:13. > :04:18.world to score England's try. Farrell converted, Ireland couldn't
:04:19. > :04:25.respond and England held on for a famous win. Unfortunately days like
:04:26. > :04:33.this are the ones you learn the most. We will probably have a few
:04:34. > :04:39.tough days. But that's part of it and I think the guys will be looking
:04:40. > :04:45.forward to playing against Italy and try Ogg to put in a good -- trying
:04:46. > :04:49.to put in a good performance. So the weekend ends in disappointment and
:04:50. > :04:53.hopes for a Grand Slam have gone so, too the Triple Crown, but hopes for
:04:54. > :05:01.a Six Nations Championship are still alive, but only just. And in the
:05:02. > :05:05.Rabo Direct Pro12 League Ulster had a narrow victory in Italy away to
:05:06. > :05:09.Benetton Treviso, winning by 14-12. Darren Cave sprinted in to open the
:05:10. > :05:14.scoring for Ulster, before Robbie Diack charged over for Ulster's
:05:15. > :05:18.second try. However, a fourth penalty from Mat Berquist closed the
:05:19. > :05:24.gap to just two points at the final whistle. And in football, the
:05:25. > :05:27.qualifying groups have been drawn for the 2016 European Championships
:05:28. > :05:30.in France. Northern Ireland are in Group F and will face Greece, the
:05:31. > :05:33.Faroe Islands, Finland, Romania and Hungary. Meanwhile the Republic of
:05:34. > :05:35.Ireland will face Scotland in one of the toughest groups, which also
:05:36. > :05:45.includes Germany, Poland, Georgia and Gibraltar. And finally onto the
:05:46. > :05:51.weather forecast for the week ahead, and here's Barra Best. It has been a
:05:52. > :05:56.great end to weekend, with plenty of sunny weather. There is more of that
:05:57. > :06:02.to come tomorrow. Tonight we will hold on to a few scattered showers,
:06:03. > :06:06.most places though will stay dry and temperatures typically in towns and
:06:07. > :06:11.cities around four degrees. So not too chillaway start to Monday. But
:06:12. > :06:15.like today there will be plenty of dry and bright weather and some
:06:16. > :06:21.sunshine. It won't be dry all day. There will be a few showers at
:06:22. > :06:26.first, before the rain comes later on. It is a fine day right across
:06:27. > :06:30.Britain tomorrow. Some rain for some central and eastern areas. But
:06:31. > :06:34.generally dry and bright for many areas. Through the day we have this
:06:35. > :06:39.next weather system pushing up across Ireland, bringing wind and
:06:40. > :06:43.rain. That rain will reach Northern Ireland later in the afternoon and
:06:44. > :06:48.it will stay us with tomorrow evening. So a much more unsettled
:06:49. > :06:53.end today. That low pressure will stay with us on Tuesday. There will
:06:54. > :06:58.be further scattered showers. Also some dry weather at times. Maybe the
:06:59. > :07:03.odd hint of brighter weather. Temperatures on Tuesday seven or
:07:04. > :07:08.eight degrees. For the time being Wednesday is shaping up to be the
:07:09. > :07:13.better day of the week after Monday. Drier and brighter. After Wednesday,
:07:14. > :07:18.more low pressure is on the way and we can expect it to turn wet and
:07:19. > :07:21.windy again. And that's it for the moment. Our next BBC Newsline
:07:22. > :07:25.bulletin is at 10.15 this evening. Until then you can keep up to date
:07:26. > :07:29.with local news on BBC Radio Ulster or on the local news online service.
