:00:00. > :00:11.Good evening. A young man is critically ill in

:00:12. > :00:15.hospital after he was assaulted in the Antrim Road area of North

:00:16. > :00:22.Belfast. He was one of a group of four men attacked. Two men - one

:00:23. > :00:29.aged 31, the other 23 - have been arrested in connection with the

:00:30. > :00:32.assault. Helen Jones reports. This was what people living on the

:00:33. > :00:37.Antrim Road woke up to this morning, a sizeable section of the

:00:38. > :00:42.road cordoned off. A cry -- crime scene, and attention to detail is

:00:43. > :00:46.the key to finding out what happened here this morning. An assault which

:00:47. > :00:54.has left a man seriously ill in hospital. There was an argument,

:00:55. > :00:59.over what exactly isn't clear, but what is clear is that four men were

:01:00. > :01:05.assaulted, one of him, a 24-year-old, is seriously ill in

:01:06. > :01:09.hospital with a head injury. The motivation behind the attack is

:01:10. > :01:15.under investigation. Two men are being questioned by the police. In

:01:16. > :01:19.this case, anybody that has difficulties, the police should be

:01:20. > :01:26.the people they should go to to sort it out. Nobody should take the law

:01:27. > :01:31.into their own hands. This mob law is not acceptable, it has to be

:01:32. > :01:36.through the police. The Antrim Road has since reopened. Investigation

:01:37. > :01:39.into the salt though continues. A woman in her 80s had to receive

:01:40. > :01:43.medical treatment at her home in Lurgan after she was assaulted by a

:01:44. > :01:46.burglar. The woman disturbed the intruder in the house at May Street

:01:47. > :01:51.at about a quarter to six this morning. It's believed the man fled

:01:52. > :01:54.empty-handed. A civil servant formerly involved in

:01:55. > :01:57.the Northern Ireland peace process has witnessed the Basque separatist

:01:58. > :02:03.group ETA decommission a small cache of weapons. Chris McCabe, who is

:02:04. > :02:07.from Belfast, confirmed to a Spanish judge that militants had handed in

:02:08. > :02:15.guns and explosives. It's the first step for ETA in a move towards

:02:16. > :02:19.disarmament. Ireland's dreams of a grand slam and

:02:20. > :02:23.triple crown in the Six Nations were - yesterday as England came from

:02:24. > :02:25.behind to win by 13 points to ten in a closely contested match at

:02:26. > :02:29.Twickenham. However, despite the defeat, Ireland sit top of the table

:02:30. > :02:34.on points difference and can still win the championship. Thomas Niblock

:02:35. > :02:38.reports. After an absorbing but pretty

:02:39. > :02:45.uninspiring first half, the winning and losing of this game came after

:02:46. > :02:51.the interval. Trailing 3-0, Rob Carney broke free to give Ireland

:02:52. > :03:00.be. This penalty was then scored to give Ireland a 10-3 advantage. But

:03:01. > :03:06.the final 30 minutes belonged to England. This moment changed

:03:07. > :03:11.everything. England broke. Mike Brown, outstanding all afternoon,

:03:12. > :03:17.carried, living all the time in the afternoon for England to try.

:03:18. > :03:23.Ireland could not respond and England held on for a famous win.

:03:24. > :03:27.Unfortunately days like this are probably the ones where you learn

:03:28. > :03:37.the most. We will have a tough few days in the video room. That's part

:03:38. > :03:41.of it. The guys will really be looking forward to playing again and

:03:42. > :03:47.trying to put in a good performance. A weekend of promise, so much for

:03:48. > :03:51.Ireland, ultimately ends in disappointment. Aspirations for a

:03:52. > :03:54.Grand Slam have gone. But hopes for a potential six Nations championship

:03:55. > :04:01.are still alive -- only just. And in the Rabo direct pro 12

:04:02. > :04:04.league, Ulster had a narrow victory in Italy away to Benetton Treviso

:04:05. > :04:08.winning by 14 points to 12. Darren Cave sprinted in to open the scoring

:04:09. > :04:11.for Ulster, before Robbie Diack charged over for Ulster's second

:04:12. > :04:12.try. However, a fourth penalty from Mat Berquist closed the gap to just

:04:13. > :04:28.two points at the final whistle. Now, the weather. We did manage to

:04:29. > :04:32.enjoy some sunshine today. Don't worry, there is more to come on

:04:33. > :04:36.Monday before it turns more unsettled through the week. This

:04:37. > :04:41.evening and tonight there will be a handful of showers out there. Most

:04:42. > :04:45.places will have a dry night. Temperatures typically about four or

:04:46. > :04:50.five degrees in the cities, colder in countryside areas. Monday, much

:04:51. > :04:55.like today Gash dry and bright weather with good spells of sunshine

:04:56. > :05:00.to enjoy as well. The weather will be cloudy but brightening up, and

:05:01. > :05:06.the sunshine will make an appearance as well. There will be a few showers

:05:07. > :05:10.before it becomes more unsettled, so do to -- so do try to enjoy the

:05:11. > :05:15.weather if you are out and about. Across Britain, a fine winter 's day

:05:16. > :05:19.for many places. A bit more unsettled in central areas, but that

:05:20. > :05:25.clears and many areas enjoy dry weather. Elsewhere we have this area

:05:26. > :05:29.of low pressure bridging in from the Allan Taylor, moving its way up

:05:30. > :05:39.across the Republic during the day, bringing with it rain. Rain will

:05:40. > :05:42.reach Northern Ireland by the end of the afternoon so try to enjoy the

:05:43. > :05:46.dry weather before then. Temperatures just above average for

:05:47. > :05:51.this time of year at nine or 10 degrees. The low pressure moves in

:05:52. > :05:55.tomorrow and it will push across everywhere bringing spells of rain

:05:56. > :05:59.and staying with us into Tuesday as well. So if you are out and about on

:06:00. > :06:02.Tuesday keep the umbrella handy. There will be a scattering of

:06:03. > :06:09.showers. Not all the time, and they will turn dry before nightfall will

:06:10. > :06:12.stop temperatures back to what they should be that this time of year. So

:06:13. > :06:16.a drier picture by the end of Tuesday. That sets us up nicely for

:06:17. > :06:20.Wednesday. We are expecting a largely dry day with spells of

:06:21. > :06:23.sunshine. Maybe one or two showers on the north coast. Enjoy it,

:06:24. > :06:28.because unsettled weather is back for Thursday and Friday.

:06:29. > :06:31.And that's it until 6.25am in the morning. Goodnight.
