:00:00. > :00:10.Good afternoon. A man has appeared That's all from me, stay with us

:00:11. > :00:13.Good afternoon. A man has appeared in court in Omagh charged with the

:00:14. > :00:16.murder of his partner. Mairead McCallion, 36, was found with head

:00:17. > :00:20.injuries at a house in Castleview Court last Sunday and died the next

:00:21. > :00:23.day. The accused is Noel Knox, 50, of Knockshee park in Omagh, who

:00:24. > :00:26.appeared at the town's Magistrates' Court speaking only to confirm that

:00:27. > :00:31.he understood the charge against him. Bail was refused and the

:00:32. > :00:34.defendant, who denies the charge, will appear in court again later

:00:35. > :00:37.this month. Two people have been arrested as

:00:38. > :00:41.police investigate the sudden death of a man who was found with head

:00:42. > :00:44.injuries in Coleraine. The 46-year-old was discovered outside a

:00:45. > :00:56.house in Strand Road just before 4am. He died later in hospital.

:00:57. > :00:59.A planned homecoming event in County Donegal tonight for John Downey, who

:01:00. > :01:02.was charged with murdering four soldiers in the Hyde park bombing,

:01:03. > :01:06.has been cancelled. A judge stopped the case against Mr Downey last week

:01:07. > :01:09.because the accused had been sent a government letter telling him,

:01:10. > :01:12.mistakenly, that he was not wanted by police. Supporters had organised

:01:13. > :01:17.what was billed as a "welcome home dance" for him. But in a statement

:01:18. > :01:21.issued by Sinn Fein, Mr Downey has said he has decided to cancel

:01:22. > :01:26.tonight's event. He has said it was planned as a simple get-together and

:01:27. > :01:33.he did not want it to be turned into a media circus.

:01:34. > :01:37.Two men have been attacked and injured by a masked gang armed with

:01:38. > :01:40.baseball bats and a hammer in Larne. Three men went into the house in

:01:41. > :01:43.Greenland Parade shortly after midnight. Some damage was also

:01:44. > :01:46.caused to a window and the front door. The victims' injuries aren't

:01:47. > :01:49.thought to be serious. As two teachers' unions criticise

:01:50. > :01:53.the way pupils with special needs are taught, a charity says too many

:01:54. > :01:56.children are losing out. "Positive Futures" deals with learning

:01:57. > :01:59.disabilities and autism and says the stress of trying to get a good

:02:00. > :02:17.education is putting a lot of pressure on families.

:02:18. > :02:23.Kirsty, 16, has been relying on home tuition for two years. Her family

:02:24. > :02:27.realised she could not cope in mainstream or special schools. She

:02:28. > :02:30.has a mixture of conditions including autism and believes there

:02:31. > :02:35.is a lack of training for teachers working with pupils like her. Some

:02:36. > :02:41.teachers were very good with my autism and anxiety. Some teachers

:02:42. > :02:47.did not get me. They would have stood too close to me or shouted

:02:48. > :02:53.right behind me or put their hands on me. The family are under huge

:02:54. > :02:58.stress and one school specifically geared to order them. I have had to

:02:59. > :03:05.leave work to be at home with her so that has been a big thing to come to

:03:06. > :03:09.terms with. Everything has had such a huge effect on us as a family.

:03:10. > :03:14.Kirsty Sage with lots to be in school and is far from being the

:03:15. > :03:22.only one who cannot find a suitable replacement. Not an isolated

:03:23. > :03:26.situation. I have had parents begin to me about the circumstances in

:03:27. > :03:29.which their children find themselves were schools simply do not seem to

:03:30. > :03:35.be able to go with or understand the issues their children present. The

:03:36. > :03:41.family said his too wait for Kirsty, but they might want their experience

:03:42. > :03:45.to help others. In Rugby, Tommy Bowe marked his

:03:46. > :03:48.return to the Ulster team last night by crossing the line twice in a

:03:49. > :03:52.five-try bonus point victory over the Dragons. The Pro 12 league clash

:03:53. > :03:55.finished 38-8 at Ravenhill. Ruan Pienaar and Sean Doyle also touched

:03:56. > :03:58.down. Paddy Jackson added the conversions while Pienaar also

:03:59. > :04:04.kicked a penalty adding to the home side's total.

:04:05. > :04:07.The Irish Football Association say they expect Northern Ireland's

:04:08. > :04:10.friendly match in Cyprus to go ahead next week, after a referee's car was

:04:11. > :04:16.damaged in a bomb attack near Nicosia yesterday. All first

:04:17. > :04:20.division matches in Cyprus this weekend have been postponed. The IFA

:04:21. > :04:30.chief executive Patrick Nelson says they are monitoring developments

:04:31. > :04:33.ahead of the match on Wednesday. The latest information as the incident

:04:34. > :04:37.would have nothing to do with international football and would not

:04:38. > :04:42.put the game in jeopardy, however we are monitoring developments. We are

:04:43. > :04:47.going to be in contact with the Cypriots if they later today and we

:04:48. > :04:48.are waiting for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to comment on it

:04:49. > :05:04.and we are keeping an eye on it. It has been quite nice for the first

:05:05. > :05:09.day of spring. Clothes are moving in from the Atlantic and that will

:05:10. > :05:18.bring some rain. A lot of dry weather around. Quite chilly as the

:05:19. > :05:23.breeze picks up. This weather front will come in across western areas

:05:24. > :05:25.during the course of the day but probably not reaching the east coast

:05:26. > :05:30.and the south-east until this evening. A few showers over Wales

:05:31. > :05:37.and north-west England otherwise many parts will be drivers up. A

:05:38. > :05:43.couple of hours of heavy rain, strong winds, but it does not last

:05:44. > :05:51.and a good part of the night will be dry and clear. Some frost, fog and

:05:52. > :05:55.ice on Sunday morning. More rain will be moving in from the west on

:05:56. > :06:02.Sunday especially through the second half of the morning. An increasingly

:06:03. > :06:06.wet and windy day to come on Sunday. Mid-afternoon on words it starts to

:06:07. > :06:11.dry up and brighten up and maybe some sunshine before the end of the

:06:12. > :06:15.day. A few wintry showers, and on Monday the showers could be wintry

:06:16. > :06:21.over the hills, otherwise reasonably dry and braid. Not much changing as

:06:22. > :06:25.we head into Tuesday and Wednesday. The second half of the new week will

:06:26. > :06:26.be more unsettled and milder. That's it for now. Our next

:06:27. > :06:37.television news is at 6:05pm. Nowadays we take the issue of

:06:38. > :06:40.fairness in employment for granted. I have never felt it important

:06:41. > :06:43.to ask anybody's religion when I'm going to employ them

:06:44. > :06:45.as a sheet metal worker. This is the story of fair

:06:46. > :06:50.employment in Northern Ireland. it masked a much greater problem

:06:51. > :06:55.in terms of educational disadvantage.
