:00:09. > :00:13.Good evening and welcome to BBC Newsline.

:00:14. > :00:17.A senior doctor and a patient are suing the Royal Victoria Hospital in

:00:18. > :00:20.Belfast for negligence. It follows ongoing problems at the hospital's

:00:21. > :00:29.accident and emergency department. Our health correspondent Marie

:00:30. > :00:35.Louise Connolly reports. A senior medical consultant who works here

:00:36. > :00:42.and a patient have both now instructed solicitors Madden and

:00:43. > :00:47.Finucane to conduct formal proceedings against the health

:00:48. > :00:51.trust. According to the statement, the action relates to negligence at

:00:52. > :01:00.the hospital and a systematic failure which led to avoidable harm

:01:01. > :01:05.and suffering of basic human rights. They say they have evidence of

:01:06. > :01:09.appalling standards of care and negligence and an environment which

:01:10. > :01:13.is both toxic for patients and for the members of staff who work there.

:01:14. > :01:18.According to the solicitors, the evidence they have no means there

:01:19. > :01:29.are calling for a full public inquiry. The Belfast Trust are still

:01:30. > :01:34.waiting for correspondence from Madden and Finucane but say they are

:01:35. > :01:40.fully corporate and in an investigation that is due to be

:01:41. > :01:43.completed by the RQAI by the end of May.

:01:44. > :01:46.Our health correspondent Marie Louise Connolly reporting.

:01:47. > :01:49.The Prime Minister has paid tribute to Lord Ballyedmond, Eddie Haughey,

:01:50. > :01:59.who was killed in a helicopter crash last night. David Cameron said he

:02:00. > :02:02.was a towering figure in Northern Irish business life and passionate

:02:03. > :02:06.about peace and good relations. The police say they are not treating the

:02:07. > :02:11.crash as suspicious. The bodies have been recovered from

:02:12. > :02:14.the wreckage. The Air Accident Investigation board is now in charge

:02:15. > :02:24.of discovering why the helicopter crashed in thick fog. It has just

:02:25. > :02:29.taken off from his country residence in Norfolk when it crashed into a

:02:30. > :02:33.nearby field. We received a call from a member of

:02:34. > :02:40.the public who reported hearing a loud crash.

:02:41. > :02:47.It started off with a briefcase and a price list of imported products.

:02:48. > :02:54.Lord Ballyedmond or Eddie Haughey was a lifelong peer. He made his

:02:55. > :03:04.fortune in the pharmaceuticals industry. Among those he employed,

:03:05. > :03:15.this site Foreman who had been alongside him in the helicopter. The

:03:16. > :03:21.other people who died were Declan Small, and pilots Carl Dickerson and

:03:22. > :03:26.Lee Hoyle. He was very generous with his time

:03:27. > :03:29.and his energy and spent his time promoting Northern Ireland is a

:03:30. > :03:35.place to do business in right across the world. He was very keen to bring

:03:36. > :03:36.the rest of the world to Northern Ireland and that was his great

:03:37. > :03:44.strength. The flanks flew at half-mast at his

:03:45. > :03:50.factory today. There was a commitment to advance what was

:03:51. > :03:57.described as his pioneering vision with a renewed determination. This

:03:58. > :04:06.is the helicopter in which the four men died, taking off a few weeks

:04:07. > :04:09.ago. It is said he was in dispute with the manufacturers, claiming

:04:10. > :04:14.defects. The manufacturers say they won't comment on that but they will

:04:15. > :04:24.cooperate fully with the inquiry. It is sure to focus on the worthiness

:04:25. > :04:32.of the craft at the time of the crash.

:04:33. > :04:35.The Police Federation which represents police officers has

:04:36. > :04:38.warned them and the public to be vigilant after the discovery of a

:04:39. > :04:42.bomb in Belfast. The under-car booby trap device was found lying on the

:04:43. > :04:45.Blacks Road in the west of the city at around eight o'clock this

:04:46. > :04:49.morning. It's believed it had fallen from a vehicle. The police haven't

:04:50. > :04:52.confirmed if one of their officers was the target. A number of houses

:04:53. > :04:55.had to be evacuated during the security operation.

:04:56. > :05:00.This is yards from the bus stop where kids were standing waiting to

:05:01. > :05:03.go to school. Where people were travelling to and from.

:05:04. > :05:06.Two brothers found guilty of a series of sex offences against

:05:07. > :05:10.family members have been jailed for a total of over 50 years. The men

:05:11. > :05:13.were told by a judge that their actions showed a level of cruelty

:05:14. > :05:17.and depravity which would not be tolerated by society. The men can't

:05:18. > :05:25.be named to protect their victims who were all children when they were

:05:26. > :05:28.abused. A man is recovering in hospital

:05:29. > :05:31.after being rescued from a lighthouse on the County Down coast.

:05:32. > :05:34.He got stuck 50 feet above the ground while he was painting Saint

:05:35. > :05:40.John's Point Lighthouse in Killough. Claire Savage reports.

:05:41. > :05:44.The emergency services got the call to see a man had been injured and

:05:45. > :05:47.was hanging off the side of the lighthouse. It was suspended for

:05:48. > :05:52.more than one and a half hours before the specialist crews got the

:05:53. > :05:57.man down. It is understood he was painting the lighthouse when the

:05:58. > :06:01.wind got him into a spin. That was when he was injured and fire crews

:06:02. > :06:06.had to rescue him. Time is critical as we were aware of

:06:07. > :06:14.the medical condition he might have which would mean that we needed to

:06:15. > :06:17.be quick. It was a team effort to get him down as quickly as

:06:18. > :06:23.possible. Our main concern was suspension

:06:24. > :06:29.trauma associated with this kind of thing. He was lucky he had a safety

:06:30. > :06:36.harness in place. The man is now being treated in

:06:37. > :06:38.hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.

:06:39. > :06:42.There's been an attack on the Quinn Packaging plant in Ballyconnell in

:06:43. > :06:46.County Cavan. A vehicle was driven into the front of the building and

:06:47. > :06:48.set on fire. It's the latest in an ongoing campaign against companies

:06:49. > :06:56.once owned by the bankrupt billionaire Sean Quinn. Here's our

:06:57. > :07:00.south-west reporter Julian Fowler. The attack follows a newspaper

:07:01. > :07:06.report this week that the packaging plant could be sold. The Jeep was

:07:07. > :07:11.driven down this embankment before crashing into the building. It was

:07:12. > :07:17.then set on fire. One man who has worked for the company for more than

:07:18. > :07:23.20 years says the attacks are threatening livelihoods and lives.

:07:24. > :07:26.He didn't want to appear on camera. I don't understand their warped

:07:27. > :07:37.mentality and what agenda they are persevering. Removing them won't do

:07:38. > :07:42.anyone any good. He also wants to know why after a

:07:43. > :07:52.three-year campaign of attacks those responsible have not been caught.

:07:53. > :07:54.Rugby and Ulster's winning streak in the Pro 12 continued tonight at

:07:55. > :07:57.Ravenhill. Paddy Jackson scored two tries as Ulster defeated the

:07:58. > :08:01.Scarlets 26-13. Tommy Bowe also touched down while a Tom Court try,

:08:02. > :08:04.right at the end, secured a bonus point for Ulster. Stephen Ferris

:08:05. > :08:08.came off the bench in the second half to make his first appearance

:08:09. > :08:14.after 16 months out with an ankle injury.

:08:15. > :08:15.Now onto the weekend weather forecast, and here's Geoff Maskell

:08:16. > :08:26.That's it for now. It has been a cloudy if rather

:08:27. > :08:34.breezy day today and that means that tonight it will stay really quite

:08:35. > :08:38.mild for the middle of March. All that cloud cover stays with us as we

:08:39. > :08:44.go into tomorrow morning but the day just gets better and better. This is

:08:45. > :08:48.the picture you'll be waking up to. Plenty of clouds to begin with but

:08:49. > :08:58.then it breaks up and the sun makes an appearance and that helps the

:08:59. > :09:02.temperatures rise. The West Coast of Scotland gets strong wind and rain

:09:03. > :09:08.but elsewhere some really decent temperatures and bright skies. It is

:09:09. > :09:15.a big day of rugby union tomorrow. It will be warm in Rome but let's

:09:16. > :09:19.face it, there's only one game that matters and if you are lucky enough

:09:20. > :09:24.to be in Paris at will be a fantastic occasion. Full coverage on

:09:25. > :09:35.the BBC. Really very pleasant indeed with plenty of bright spells. By

:09:36. > :09:43.contrast, Sunday is going to be a bit duller than that. The rain won't

:09:44. > :09:50.ruin your weekend and the temperatures will stay mild. Another

:09:51. > :09:56.bit of rain on Monday but Saturday is the best of the next few days.
