:00:00. > 3:59:59That is all from us. Don't forget, first look at

:00:00. > :00:11.Good evening. The Sinn Fein President says he has asked his

:00:12. > :00:16.solicitor to contact the police to check if they want to interview him

:00:17. > :00:19.about the murder of Jean McConville. Who Gerry Adams has again declared

:00:20. > :00:24.he was not involved in the disappearance of the West Belfast

:00:25. > :00:27.mother-of-ten in 1972. At the weekend, the veteran republican Ivor

:00:28. > :00:37.Bell was charged in connection with her abduction and murder. Mark

:00:38. > :00:40.Simpson has more. For Gerry Adams, the questions won't go away.

:00:41. > :00:43.Questions about being in the IRA, about being involved in the murder

:00:44. > :00:52.of Jean McConville, the mother who was abducted and killed by the IRA

:00:53. > :00:55.in 1972. In a statement, Gerry Adams attempted to set the record

:00:56. > :00:58.straight. He said what happened to Jean McConville? Last week, the

:00:59. > :01:01.police arrested his one-time associate, Ivor Bell, who was

:01:02. > :01:20.charged with aiding and abetting the murder of Jean McConville. He denies

:01:21. > :01:23.the charge. In the 1970s and 1980s Ivor Bell was a senior republican,

:01:24. > :01:38.seen here after the collapse of a trial. The RUC see the recent gains

:01:39. > :01:41.by Sinn Fein as a major threat. The evidence against him in relation to

:01:42. > :01:44.the killing of Jean McConville involves an interview he allegedly

:01:45. > :01:48.did for the Boston College tapes. The history project began 20 years

:01:49. > :01:52.ago and was led by the former journalist Ed Moloney. IRA and UVF

:01:53. > :01:58.members gave interviews on the basis that their words would only be made

:01:59. > :02:00.public after their death. One interview was given by former IRA

:02:01. > :02:12.commander Brendan Hughes, who alleged that Gerry Adams was linked

:02:13. > :02:17.to the Jean McConville murder. I had no control over the squad. Gerry had

:02:18. > :02:22.control over the squad. Gerry Adams has always said that's not true.

:02:23. > :02:30.That's just recycling of the same story. You can repeat it ad nauseam

:02:31. > :02:34.but it's not true. Police went to court in America to try to gain

:02:35. > :02:39.access to some of the tapes and succeeded. The legal wrangle and the

:02:40. > :02:45.controversy has had repercussions, not least in the academic world.

:02:46. > :02:49.Historians are now thinking twice about similar projects. One

:02:50. > :02:53.unfortunate consequence will to be make it less likely for people to

:02:54. > :02:55.get first-hand research on conflict and that's unfortunate because if

:02:56. > :02:58.we're going to understand violent conflicts, we need to understand the

:02:59. > :03:03.perspectives around those who were in them. The investigation into Jean

:03:04. > :03:10.McConville stretches back for decades. For eight months, police

:03:11. > :03:14.have been studying information from the Boston College tapes but we do

:03:15. > :03:23.not know whether the Ivor Bell court case is a one-off or whether there

:03:24. > :03:27.will be more. Ten patients who had been on trolleys at the Emergency

:03:28. > :03:30.Department at the Royal Victoria Hospital are tonight being

:03:31. > :03:36.transferred to the City Hospital. The Belfast Trust says it has been a

:03:37. > :03:39.very busy day in the unit. As of 9pm this evening, 27 patients were on

:03:40. > :03:45.trolleys and 90 people were waiting to be dealt with at the hospital.

:03:46. > :03:48.The funeral has taken place of David Warnock, one of the two men from a

:03:49. > :03:54.Portadown angling club who died in an accident in County Westmeath last

:03:55. > :03:59.week. A search of Lough Ree for the body of the second victim, Darryl

:04:00. > :04:05.Burke, continued today. Gordon Adair reports from County Armagh. Their

:04:06. > :04:08.faces set against the driving rain, members of the Portadown angling

:04:09. > :04:10.club perform one final sad task for their chairman and friend, David

:04:11. > :04:18.Warner. Inside Saint John's Church near

:04:19. > :04:22.Markethill, clubmates and hundreds of other mourners heard a reading

:04:23. > :04:31.from the book of Matthew in which Jesus saves Peter from drowning. The

:04:32. > :04:39.presence of Jesus lifted Peter and brought him to safety. I believe

:04:40. > :04:43.that same presence of Jesus was with David when he was in the water on

:04:44. > :04:53.that cold and restless lake in County Westmeath. I believe he made

:04:54. > :05:02.his peace with God. I know Jesus heard his cries for help and was

:05:03. > :05:09.with him. Jesus reached out his hand to him to and lifted him up.

:05:10. > :05:13.Mourners heard of the family's gratitude to all those who risked

:05:14. > :05:21.their own lives in an effort to save David. We thank the members of the

:05:22. > :05:27.RNLI in Athlone and all those who went out on the lake to help. David

:05:28. > :05:30.is survived by his partner Sharon and his four-year-old son, described

:05:31. > :05:34.in church today as a miracle baby, having being born prematurely. David

:05:35. > :05:37.Warnock's family expressed their gratitude that John Trumbull had

:05:38. > :05:49.survived and urged people to pray for those searching for Darryl

:05:50. > :05:54.Burke. And in that search for Darryl Burke, divers says the visibility is

:05:55. > :06:03.down to two metres at most. Julian Fowler has spent the day at Lough

:06:04. > :06:07.Ree. Heading out into stormy waters. For a fifth day, Lough Ree lifeboat

:06:08. > :06:10.set out to try and find Darryl Burke. The weather today has made

:06:11. > :06:13.the task even more difficult. But they've been helped by the surviving

:06:14. > :06:17.fisherman, John Trimble. He's now recovering in hospital and has told

:06:18. > :06:21.the police where they were when their boat sank. That information

:06:22. > :06:24.has been vital because at least it confirms our own calculations based

:06:25. > :06:31.on where we found the first person and that is dictating how we are

:06:32. > :06:35.designing the search. Dive teams also returned to the water. Over the

:06:36. > :06:40.weekend, more than 30 volunteers from local sub-aqua clubs joined

:06:41. > :06:50.police divers on the search. The conditions aren't great under the

:06:51. > :06:54.water. We have very bad visibility, a metre or two metres, so it is not

:06:55. > :07:05.easy searching. We were hoping we would be able to find more people or

:07:06. > :07:09.find the boat. We are searching two main areas here, two peninsulas, one

:07:10. > :07:12.team have searched on the side of the peninsula and then another team

:07:13. > :07:15.were dispatched to this barrier up here, which is very difficult. One

:07:16. > :07:19.team will search north and the other south. Electronic survey equipment

:07:20. > :07:22.was also being used today to try and find the boat, but so far to no

:07:23. > :07:26.avail. The divers spent about two hours out on the lough this morning.

:07:27. > :07:29.They have now returned to shore and are waiting for conditions to

:07:30. > :07:32.improve before resuming the search. The lifeboat and volunteer divers

:07:33. > :07:35.were stood down this afternoon. But they are determined to continue, to

:07:36. > :07:40.end the agonising wait for Darryl Burke's family.

:07:41. > :07:43.The funeral has taken place in Newry of Lord Ballyedmond, the

:07:44. > :07:49.multi-millionaire who died in a helicopter crash in England earlier

:07:50. > :07:51.this month. Also known as Edward Haughey, the businessman developed

:07:52. > :07:56.Norbrook Pharmaceutical Laboratories to become one of Northern Ireland's

:07:57. > :07:59.richest people. The First Minister, Peter Robinson, and Deputy First

:08:00. > :08:02.Minister, Martin McGuinness, were among the mourners A look ahead to

:08:03. > :08:09.tomorrow's BBC Newsline at 6.30pm, online and on radio on Good Morning

:08:10. > :08:14.Ulster. Now look to tomorrow's Newsline. We have uncovered what is

:08:15. > :08:17.described as a crisis in the world of archaeology. Hundreds of

:08:18. > :08:24.thousands of ancient exhibits are lying, often without being properly

:08:25. > :08:28.examined are classified. It is estimated the equivalent of 24 fully

:08:29. > :08:31.loaded containers of material is being stored outside the museum

:08:32. > :08:38.sector and, in some cases, outside Northern Ireland. And this is just

:08:39. > :08:41.some of it. That will also be online and on radio on Good Morning Ulster.

:08:42. > :08:47.Now the weather forecast with Angie Philips.

:08:48. > :08:53.It was a pretty miserable day but it looks like it will be the wettest

:08:54. > :08:58.part of the week once this moves along. There will be showers but

:08:59. > :09:04.some dry spells also and given variable amounts of cloud, we should

:09:05. > :09:08.have sunny spells. But clear spells at night leads to the risk of patchy

:09:09. > :09:14.frost. That will not be a problem tonight, mostly frost free with rows

:09:15. > :09:19.of three and five degrees. It will be wet throughout and the wind will

:09:20. > :09:25.ease. We will have lighter wind tomorrow, still a lot of cloud and

:09:26. > :09:30.some showers around, the bulk of those during tomorrow morning, the

:09:31. > :09:35.remnants of the overnight rain. The odd heavy burst in the North and

:09:36. > :09:39.West. Brighter generally and dryer across Republic of Ireland, into

:09:40. > :09:43.Wales and the south-west of England. The East also mainly dry but

:09:44. > :09:52.sandwiched in between, it is likely to remain cloudy up into Scotland

:09:53. > :09:56.with spells of rain. Coming back to Northern Ireland for the afternoon,

:09:57. > :09:59.there will still be showers around, mostly towards the north and West

:10:00. > :10:02.but they will be easing and elsewhere it looks like a drier

:10:03. > :10:06.afternoon of perhaps brighter spells coming through. Temperatures up to

:10:07. > :10:12.maybe 11 degrees. Through the rest of the week, one or two showers

:10:13. > :10:15.around, particularly on Thursday but generally, more dry than wet

:10:16. > :10:18.weather. That's it for now. You can keep up-to-date online and follow

:10:19. > :10:21.this programme on Facebook and Twitter. Goodnight.
