:00:00. > :00:00.complainants in the trial. But now on BBC One,

:00:00. > :00:12.Hello and welcome to BBC Newsline. A man will appear in court tomorrow

:00:13. > :00:15.charged with murders of 29 people in the Omagh bombing in August 1998.

:00:16. > :00:19.Seamus Daly will also be charged with an attempted bombing in Lisburn

:00:20. > :00:22.in the same year. The 43-year-old was arrested by detectives from the

:00:23. > :00:25.serious crime branch earlier this week. Our home affairs

:00:26. > :00:35.correspondent, Vincent Kearney, reports.

:00:36. > :00:40.Seamus Daly was secretly filmed by the BBC's Panorama programme 14

:00:41. > :00:47.years ago. 29 people were killed in the Omagh bombing in 200 injured in

:00:48. > :00:51.what was the worst atrocity of the Troubles. Seamus Daly was arrested

:00:52. > :00:56.in Newry on Monday and has been charged in connection with the

:00:57. > :01:01.attack. No one has ever been convicted of carrying out the

:01:02. > :01:07.bombing in a criminal court but relatives of the victims call --

:01:08. > :01:11.took out a civil action. The court ruled that Seamus Daly and three

:01:12. > :01:17.others were responsible and they were later ordered to pay over ?1.5

:01:18. > :01:22.million in damages. Seamus Daly has always denied any involvement but

:01:23. > :01:26.has previously guilt -- pleaded guilty to membership of the Real

:01:27. > :01:28.IRA. He is expected to appear in court tomorrow.

:01:29. > :01:33.Michael Gallagher, whose son Aidan died in the bomb, gave his reaction

:01:34. > :01:43.a short time ago. We have put the police and the

:01:44. > :01:47.British and Irish governments and others under tremendous pressure and

:01:48. > :01:51.we do not apologise for that. Of course, we believe that is not the

:01:52. > :01:54.role of the victims and not something we should have to do as

:01:55. > :01:58.victims. But we also believe we have to make sure justice is seen to be

:01:59. > :02:04.done here. Police have said there's trouble in

:02:05. > :02:06.the Woodburn Avenue and the Hollies area of Carrickfergus tonight.

:02:07. > :02:09.Motorists have been advised to avoid the area. There are no more details

:02:10. > :02:12.at the moment. The Queen has shaken hands with

:02:13. > :02:16.Martin McGuinness at a Northern Ireland themed reception at Windsor

:02:17. > :02:19.Castle. The event was held on the penultimate day of the Irish

:02:20. > :02:23.President's four-day state visit to the UK. The Queen and Michael D

:02:24. > :02:26.Higgins co-hosted the event in order to celebrate British and Irish

:02:27. > :02:29.people who have made a significant contribution to the peace process

:02:30. > :02:34.and to public life in Northern Ireland. President Higgins has been

:02:35. > :02:38.attending an Irish-themed event at the Royal Albert Hall tonight.

:02:39. > :02:43.Meanwhile, the Secretary of State has criticised party colleague Lord

:02:44. > :02:46.Tebbit for saying he hoped Martin McGuinness would be shot in the back

:02:47. > :02:51.for attending a banquet hosted by the Queen earlier this week. In an

:02:52. > :02:54.interview on tonight's BBC The View programme, Theresa Villiers said the

:02:55. > :03:05.Conservative peer's remarks were highly dangerous. I think those

:03:06. > :03:11.comments were unacceptable. It is still a matter of great sadness and

:03:12. > :03:13.regret that threats are made genuinely against elected

:03:14. > :03:16.representatives in Northern Ireland so I think it is highly dangerous

:03:17. > :03:20.for Lord Tebbit to make those kinds of remarks given the security

:03:21. > :03:24.situation. You can see more of that interview

:03:25. > :03:28.with the Secretary of State on The View just after this bulletin.

:03:29. > :03:32.An American company is to create 1,000 new jobs in Belfast. They will

:03:33. > :03:35.mostly pay below average salaries but the Executive says they're ideal

:03:36. > :03:42.for young unemployed people. Our business correspondent, Julian

:03:43. > :03:47.O'Neill, reports. Concentrix will more than double its

:03:48. > :03:52.local workforce over the next three years. It provides office back-up to

:03:53. > :03:57.companies like Microsoft and Amazon. Some of the new posts will be in

:03:58. > :04:03.customer service and others in computer software. I am glad it is

:04:04. > :04:10.in the Belfast area though there may be different views about that. Go

:04:11. > :04:15.around the desks and you will see there are people from virtually

:04:16. > :04:23.every part of the continent, never mind any part of the company.

:04:24. > :04:27.Many jobs will pay about ?15,000, hello the private sector average,

:04:28. > :04:31.but they will be pitched at young people. It also sends out a message

:04:32. > :04:38.that Northern Ireland is a place to do business.

:04:39. > :04:41.It sends a powerful message to others who are considering coming

:04:42. > :04:48.here and that is the secret of our success. These jobs could have been

:04:49. > :04:56.created anywhere in the world really and it is a credit to the team here

:04:57. > :04:59.that it has been brought here. This helps to underwrite the expansion

:05:00. > :05:09.The mother of a man murdered in Comber two years ago has described

:05:10. > :05:12.the sentence given to two of the men who killed him as disgusting. Philip

:05:13. > :05:15.Strickland died after being killed with a shotgun during a dispute with

:05:16. > :05:19.a County Down family. Ian Weir, of Derryboye Road near Killinchy - seen

:05:20. > :05:22.here on the left - will serve four years of a life sentence. He

:05:23. > :05:27.testified against his father who'll be sentenced tomorrow. His brother,

:05:28. > :05:30.Jason Weir of Raffery Road near Killinchy - seen here on the right -

:05:31. > :05:35.will serve nine-and-a-half years. Both brothers had pleaded guilty.

:05:36. > :05:40.An explosive device has been found during a security alert in

:05:41. > :05:43.Londonderry. The device, which police have described as "crude but

:05:44. > :05:47.viable" was discovered by a member of the public at Talbot Park. Some

:05:48. > :05:52.homes were evacuated as Army bomb experts carried out a controlled

:05:53. > :05:54.explosion. All affected roads have reopened and residents have been

:05:55. > :06:01.allowed to return to their homes. It's day one of golf's US Masters at

:06:02. > :06:05.Augusta. Rory McIlroy has made an excellent start with an opening

:06:06. > :06:08.round of one under par - that's just three shots off the lead. Graeme

:06:09. > :06:12.McDowell is a shot further back, with Darren Clarke six behind

:06:13. > :06:21.clubhouse leader Bill Haas. Stephen Watson reports from Augusta.

:06:22. > :06:28.It was a confident start for the tournament favourite. From his very

:06:29. > :06:33.first shot, Rory McIlroy looked relaxed and ready for his challenge.

:06:34. > :06:40.And the Hollywood Manse showed early signs of the form which helped him

:06:41. > :06:48.win two major championships. He found his touch on the ultra quick

:06:49. > :06:49.Augusta greens. He was soon rocketing up the opening round

:06:50. > :07:03.leaderboard. Graham Nicholls struggled early but

:07:04. > :07:09.battled back from two over par to finish level, not spectacular but a

:07:10. > :07:18.solid start. A funny day because maybe from the outset it didn't look

:07:19. > :07:25.like I putted well. But I patted OK. I was grounding from six, eight and

:07:26. > :07:35.ten feet all day long. I rolled it OK and my pace was generally brief

:07:36. > :07:43.--. It is tough to describe to people at home. On his 500th

:07:44. > :07:49.appearance, Darren Clarke has a lot of work to do tomorrow if he is to

:07:50. > :07:57.make the halfway cut. Darren Clarke has battled back to two over par.

:07:58. > :08:10.Good evening. A clearer night tonight and colder as well. We are

:08:11. > :08:15.looking at rural spots where it could dip down to freezing sow grass

:08:16. > :08:20.frostbite tomorrow morning and the possibility of a few visibility

:08:21. > :08:26.issues with mist and fog. Tamara is not a bad day at all. A ridge of

:08:27. > :08:32.high pressure will bring a lot of dry and bright weather. The best of

:08:33. > :08:36.the sunshine is likely to be in the morning. For much of Britain and

:08:37. > :08:41.Northern Ireland, the high pressure brings a lot of fine weather. Quite

:08:42. > :08:47.warm in the South East when early cloud clears. The exception is

:08:48. > :08:51.likely to be the North West of Scotland where the breeze picks up

:08:52. > :08:56.to bring thicker cloud and spells of rain. Parts of the North West of

:08:57. > :09:02.Northern Ireland will see the cloud feel in later on in the afternoon

:09:03. > :09:10.but it will stay dry and brighter in southern and eastern areas. One or

:09:11. > :09:14.two spots in the south-east may hit 14 Celsius. A change tomorrow with a

:09:15. > :09:20.weather front moving in from the North West which will bring thicker

:09:21. > :09:24.cloud tomorrow night and on Saturday morning. When the rain clears, it

:09:25. > :09:28.should brighten up and it stays mainly dry for the rest of the

:09:29. > :09:51.weekend. From everyone here, have a good night.

:09:52. > :09:53.with more live TV coverage than ever before.
