:00:00. > :00:12.Police say the former dissident republican leader, Tommy Crossan,
:00:13. > :00:16.who was murdered in West Belfast yesterday was shot through the
:00:17. > :00:19.window of his office hut. A 26-year-old man, arrested yesterday
:00:20. > :00:23.in connection with the murder, is still being questioned. Detectives
:00:24. > :00:27.have appealed for information about a red BMW car used by the attackers,
:00:28. > :00:38.which was later found burnt out, as Dan Stanton reports.
:00:39. > :00:44.Forensic teams at the hut where Tommy Crossan was shot dead at
:00:45. > :00:48.4:45pm yesterday. His attackers fired a number of bullets at close
:00:49. > :00:56.range into his upper body. The detective leading the investigation
:00:57. > :01:01.described what happened. He was seated inside the cabin and we
:01:02. > :01:07.believe he was shot through the window whilst he was seated at a
:01:08. > :01:11.desk. It is a terrible, barbaric crime for which there can be no
:01:12. > :01:16.excuse. I would appeal for anyone with information to contact us. The
:01:17. > :01:20.married father of six died at the scene.
:01:21. > :01:26.No one has admitted carrying out the killing. But dissident republicans
:01:27. > :01:32.is one line of enquiry. It is early to be commenting on
:01:33. > :01:36.motive. A feud within dissident republicans is one area we will keep
:01:37. > :01:43.in mind but it is too early to comment fully.
:01:44. > :01:47.Mr Crossan was a former senior figure within the Continuity IRA.
:01:48. > :01:55.The distant group is understood to have split recently. Police want
:01:56. > :02:09.information from anyone who may have seen the red BMW in the weeks and
:02:10. > :02:12.days before the shooting. OEZ 9177. That is the registration number.
:02:13. > :02:16.Two motorcyclists have died in separate road accidents involving
:02:17. > :02:20.tractors. This afternoon, a 28-year-old man died, after his bike
:02:21. > :02:23.was in collision with a tractor on the Baranailt Road in Limavady. Two
:02:24. > :02:26.other men in their twenties, on a second motorbike, were also injured.
:02:27. > :02:29.Their injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening. Meanwhile, the
:02:30. > :02:32.motorcyclist who died in a road accident in County Fermanagh last
:02:33. > :02:35.night was 44-year-old Richard Brown from Lisbellaw. His bike collided
:02:36. > :02:41.with a tractor on the A4 Belfast Road, outside Fivemiletown.
:02:42. > :02:46.Three men in their 20s have been arrested in West Belfast, after a
:02:47. > :02:48.car was hijacked last night. It happened in the Longwood Road area
:02:49. > :02:55.of Newtownabbey. An elderly couple have been left
:02:56. > :02:58.badly shaken by an arson attack at their home in Banbridge. Their car
:02:59. > :02:59.was destroyed in the fire, which happened shortly after midnight.
:03:00. > :03:11.Louise Cullen reports. Melted plastic hangs from the
:03:12. > :03:15.burned-out shell of the car. It was destroyed in the fire which police
:03:16. > :03:19.are treating as arson. The front of the house was also damaged by the
:03:20. > :03:26.flames, and parts of the roof came down. You can still smell charred
:03:27. > :03:30.tarmac and melted plastic. The intense heat destroyed the car and
:03:31. > :03:36.damaged the ceiling and roof off the porch. The flames took hold at
:03:37. > :03:47.midnight. There were a lot of bangs. I suppose
:03:48. > :03:52.things were exploding. I was sleeping and I heard the noise. I
:03:53. > :04:00.looked out of the window. I saw the car on fire. I was worried in case
:04:01. > :04:08.the fire would spread to my car. Luckily, my Fat -- my car did not
:04:09. > :04:12.have a lot of damage. The fire came perilously close to the neighbouring
:04:13. > :04:15.house. The elderly couple who lived there did not want to be
:04:16. > :04:20.interviewed. They were at home when the attack happened and while they
:04:21. > :04:25.were not injured, they have been left badly shaken. The Fire Service
:04:26. > :04:28.said the couple had a lucky escape. Examinations are being carried out
:04:29. > :04:32.on the car today and police have appealed for information.
:04:33. > :04:37.Now, it was another glorious day today. Will the sunshine last into
:04:38. > :04:44.Easter Sunday? Cecilia is here with the weather forecast.
:04:45. > :04:49.Hello, good evening. Some lovely weather over the last few days. More
:04:50. > :04:54.strong sunshine on Easter Sunday but it will be a little different next
:04:55. > :05:03.week. Tonight, it stays clear, quite chilly. The chance to see some spots
:05:04. > :05:10.of folk by Easter Sunday morning. Miss D first thing. Any frost will
:05:11. > :05:16.disappear. The day itself will bring lots of fine, sunny weather, and
:05:17. > :05:22.warm weather. Sunshine to come for Scotland, a chilly breeze from the
:05:23. > :05:26.sea. Lots of sunshine over Ireland, but more cloud further south in
:05:27. > :05:30.England and Wales with heavy rain over the South East. Northern
:05:31. > :05:35.Ireland enjoys most of the best weather. Cooler along the coast with
:05:36. > :05:43.a sea breeze. A top temperature of 16 degrees. Similar to today.
:05:44. > :05:50.Tomorrow night will be just as cold. More breeze and cloud. That is due
:05:51. > :05:55.to that area of low pressure over the south of Britain which will
:05:56. > :06:01.drift across southern Ireland. It hangs around at the beginning of
:06:02. > :06:07.next week, with a new area of low pressure bringing Atlantic rain.
:06:08. > :06:15.More unsettled weather. A noticeable breeze on Monday. Some showers
:06:16. > :06:18.around. Still nice in the sunshine, enjoy the rest of your Easter break.
