:00:00. > :00:07.club turned out to be a stalemate. And that's

:00:08. > :00:13.Good evening. An investigation has begun into how more than 1,000 fish

:00:14. > :00:17.were killed in a river near Dungannon. Pollution was discovered

:00:18. > :00:21.over the weekend in the River Oona, which is a tributary of the

:00:22. > :00:24.Blackwater. The River Oona is an exceptionally

:00:25. > :00:29.pretty river, winding its way through the hills of County Tyrone.

:00:30. > :00:32.It was once a famous trout river. Like all true beauties of the River

:00:33. > :00:37.Blackwater, it suffered when the river was dredged. It has also

:00:38. > :00:42.suffered from incidents of pollution. Thankfully, down here

:00:43. > :00:50.where the river is at its finest, there has been no sign of pollution.

:00:51. > :00:54.I have seen healthy trout in the water. It is a different story,

:00:55. > :00:57.however, on the upper reaches of the system, as I found out earlier. My

:00:58. > :01:04.short walk along the river soon revealed a carpet of dead fish of

:01:05. > :01:07.varying sizes and ages. The Environment Agency is carrying out

:01:08. > :01:12.an investigation to try to find the source of the pollution. While it is

:01:13. > :01:17.at an early stage, initial indications are that it is

:01:18. > :01:20.agricultural, probably slurry. With upwards of 1,000 fish killed, the

:01:21. > :01:30.Agency has classified this incident as being of high severity. We have

:01:31. > :01:34.identified the source, and we are carrying on our usual enforcement

:01:35. > :01:38.action from that. What we will do over the next few days is get our

:01:39. > :01:45.specialist biologists to carry out a survey of the ecosystem. The hope

:01:46. > :01:48.for environmentalists and anglers is that the current low water levels

:01:49. > :01:57.will help prevent this pollution spreading as far as it otherwise

:01:58. > :02:00.might have. More than 1,000 people have attended

:02:01. > :02:05.the funeral of the independent unionist Assembly member David

:02:06. > :02:18.McClarty. He had been suffering from cancer.

:02:19. > :02:22.In death, as in life, David McClarty brought people together. Whatever

:02:23. > :02:25.the divisions that led to him not being selected as an election

:02:26. > :02:36.candidate, every shade of unionism was represented today. The Deputy

:02:37. > :02:42.First Minister adds his name to the book of condolence. He was so much

:02:43. > :02:45.more than a politician. He was a raconteur. He made people laugh. He

:02:46. > :02:58.sang in the parish choir all of his life. He kept them sane in Stormont.

:02:59. > :03:01.He was company with the Queen, yet able to deal with everyone. He was

:03:02. > :03:05.most happy with people who needed help. He was also a family man, one

:03:06. > :03:09.of 12 children, who leaves behind his wife, Norma, and two sons. Dad

:03:10. > :03:19.loved Coleraine, but it seems today, Coleraine loves dad just as much. In

:03:20. > :03:29.his last few months he spoke of his pride in his family. He was a family

:03:30. > :03:34.man, he didn't need to say it. It was something we already knew.

:03:35. > :03:37.Today, we are so proud of him. A father and one of the stars of

:03:38. > :03:43.Northern Ireland politics was laid to rest in Portstewart.

:03:44. > :03:46.Vandals are being blamed for stealing a mechanical digger from a

:03:47. > :03:50.construction site in north Belfast and going on a rampage. They damaged

:03:51. > :03:54.property near the Valley Leisure Centre in Newtownabbey last night.

:03:55. > :03:57.Fencing and goal posts were broken and sports pitches were damaged.

:03:58. > :04:01.Trees were smashed around the construction site. An attempt was

:04:02. > :04:11.also made to break into the site office.

:04:12. > :04:16.Two men and women are to appear in court charges linked to an incident

:04:17. > :04:20.in north Belfast this morning. They were arrested after a number of

:04:21. > :04:23.flags and banners were damaged. One of Northern Ireland's best known

:04:24. > :04:27.landmarks, Scrabo Tower, is to close for the foreseeable future because

:04:28. > :04:33.of water damage. The surrounding Country Park will remain open.

:04:34. > :04:38.It's a majestic monument which has graced the summit of Scrabo Hill for

:04:39. > :04:43.almost 160 years. But this prominent position has actually caused

:04:44. > :04:47.problems for Scrabo Tower. Because it has such a spectacular location,

:04:48. > :04:52.on top of this hill, the tower is very exposed to bad weather. Over

:04:53. > :04:55.the years, rainwater has seeped in. So the electrical and lighting

:04:56. > :05:00.system has been damaged, forcing the Environment Agency to close the

:05:01. > :05:03.tower for the foreseeable future. The Agency says it's spent hundreds

:05:04. > :05:07.of thousands of pounds over the last 30 years to try to deal with the

:05:08. > :05:11.issues. And now it's considering seeking specialist advice on

:05:12. > :05:15.weatherproofing the tower. The landmark was built in 1857 as a

:05:16. > :05:27.memorial to the third Marquess of Londonderry. These much beloved by

:05:28. > :05:37.artist and poets. It is an iconic monument. It is identified with art.

:05:38. > :05:38.This is not the end of that distinguished history. The Tower may

:05:39. > :05:42.be opened occasionally and visitors will still be able to enjoy the

:05:43. > :05:44.walks around it. In football, Cliftonville are

:05:45. > :05:47.celebrating after retaining the Premiership title. They beat

:05:48. > :05:54.Portadown 2-0. Their nearest challengers Linfield lost. Stephen

:05:55. > :05:57.Watson reports on a dramatic day. Cliftonville started the day three

:05:58. > :06:05.points clear of Linfield and with a better goal difference. They knew

:06:06. > :06:11.that a win should be enough. How important could that be? As they

:06:12. > :06:18.took a second half lead, in Belfast things were not going well for their

:06:19. > :06:26.nearest challengers. He may have broken the hearts of Linfield. Back

:06:27. > :06:33.at Shamrock Park the home side were pushing for an equaliser.

:06:34. > :06:41.Cliftonville were still feeling the pressure. Soon, they edged another

:06:42. > :06:51.step closer to glory. Stephen Garrett has scored a second. Within

:06:52. > :07:00.a few minutes, more good news. That cheer can only signify one thing...

:07:01. > :07:05.Linfield had fallen further behind. Linfield's title hopes dead and

:07:06. > :07:09.buried. For the second year in a row, Cliftonville took home the

:07:10. > :07:21.title. Cliftonville are the 2014 champions. They look after

:07:22. > :07:31.themselves. They will maybe go on for years to come. Outstanding, a

:07:32. > :07:38.joy to work with. There are probably another seven or eight who could get

:07:39. > :07:46.in the team. It was hard to defend it. I am delighted. Championees!

:07:47. > :07:49.The former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has tonight criticised his

:07:50. > :07:52.old club for sacking David Moyes. The Republic's assistant manager

:07:53. > :07:57.said that Moyes deserved more time and had been let down by the

:07:58. > :08:02.players. When he took the job I think the Chief Executive did not

:08:03. > :08:07.get the deals done that he wanted, a lot of negativity, I think it is a

:08:08. > :08:12.shame, I think he should have been given more time. I think Manchester

:08:13. > :08:14.United should be ashamed of themselves.

:08:15. > :08:17.Looking ahead to a story we have across TV, radio and online

:08:18. > :08:20.tomorrow, we speak to a former IRA member who raises questions about

:08:21. > :08:23.Gerry Adams' claim that he was never in the IRA. An exclusive interview

:08:24. > :08:25.on BBC News Northern Ireland starting on the Good Morning Ulster

:08:26. > :08:36.programme. There is some more rain in the

:08:37. > :08:44.forecast but that means it will also be mild. None of it will be

:08:45. > :08:49.particularly heavy, more damp than anything else. We are expecting some

:08:50. > :08:53.more showers tomorrow so you have to keep your umbrella handy, especially

:08:54. > :08:58.through the morning but the second half of the day will bring drier and

:08:59. > :09:03.brighter weather. Tomorrow morning it is cloudy with showery rain. It

:09:04. > :09:06.will probably feel quite cool. The worst of the range should be

:09:07. > :09:13.cleaning away from the north coast by midday. It is a band of rain

:09:14. > :09:16.which slowly goes into south-west Scotland and into Wales and

:09:17. > :09:22.south-west England. It will be a slow process but it will gradually

:09:23. > :09:28.move eastwards across many areas of Britain. It lightens up across the

:09:29. > :09:37.Republic of Ireland, temperatures reaching 16 degrees -- brightens.

:09:38. > :09:39.Tomorrow there will be some dry weather and sunshine and it will

:09:40. > :09:44.feel warm, but there will be the chance of one or two might heavy

:09:45. > :09:48.showers and maybe even a rumble of thunder. The showers will die away

:09:49. > :09:54.tomorrow night to leave drier weather on Thursday. Some sunshine

:09:55. > :09:59.and quite warm when the sun comes out with temperatures in the mid

:10:00. > :10:06.teens. Friday should bring dry and bright weather. The rain is back on

:10:07. > :10:07.Saturday and with it a drop in temperature. Goodnight.
