:00:00. > :00:11.Good evening. A daughter of Jean McConville has said she's hopeful
:00:12. > :00:15.that the family will raise the money to take a civil case against the
:00:16. > :00:18.Sinn Fein President for the murder of her mother. Mrs McConville was
:00:19. > :00:24.killed by the IRA in 1972, leaving her ten children orphaned. Gerry
:00:25. > :00:27.Adams was released yesterday, after being in custody since Wednesday
:00:28. > :00:31.night. He has always denied having anything to do with Jean
:00:32. > :00:33.McConville's death. A file will be sent to the Public Prosecution
:00:34. > :00:37.Service later this week, but it's thought that unless significant new
:00:38. > :00:39.evidence comes to light he will not face any charge. Julie McCullough's
:00:40. > :00:49.report contains some flash photography.
:00:50. > :00:55.The news that Gerry Adams may not face any charge won't come as a
:00:56. > :00:59.surprise to Jean McConville's daughter Helen. She wasn't convinced
:01:00. > :01:03.anything would come out of the Sinn Fein President's arrest, but she is
:01:04. > :01:07.hopeful the family will be able to raise enough money, to take a civil
:01:08. > :01:13.case over the murder of their mother, more than 40 years ago.
:01:14. > :01:19.At the minute, we are looking into, it is early days but it looks like
:01:20. > :01:24.we have a strong case. We have had people approach us, willing to back
:01:25. > :01:29.up, so it is looking good. I am 100% certain of what happened. Over years
:01:30. > :01:33.there has been the same thing, I know when my mother was disappeared.
:01:34. > :01:38.I know what I have went through, what members of the family went
:01:39. > :01:42.through. It is an ongoing thing. It won't end until we get peace and
:01:43. > :01:47.justice for my mother. Helen said she couldn't bear to
:01:48. > :01:51.watch Gerry Adams speak at a press conference following his release
:01:52. > :01:55.yesterday evening. During its he denied having anything to do with
:01:56. > :02:00.Jean McConville's murder, and raised questions about the handling of his
:02:01. > :02:04.arrest. Those who authorised my arrest and detention could have done
:02:05. > :02:09.it differently. They had discancer, they did not
:02:10. > :02:16.have to use pernicious, coercive legislation to deal with the legacy
:02:17. > :02:20.issue, even one as serious as this. Which I was voluntarily prepared to
:02:21. > :02:24.deal with. They did not have do that in the middle of an election cam
:02:25. > :02:28.pain, remember, I contacted them two months ago.
:02:29. > :02:33.-- campaign. Speaking on BBC Breakfast, the Justice Minister
:02:34. > :02:38.David Ford said Mr Adams had a part in the timing of the questioning and
:02:39. > :02:44.wasn't sure why he was criticising the police for it. The DUP's Nigel
:02:45. > :02:49.Dodds told BBC Newsline the arrest showed nobody was above the law. But
:02:50. > :02:54.that people's thoughts should be with the McConville vam They should
:02:55. > :03:03.be first and foremost and centre in everybody's thoughts, not the self
:03:04. > :03:07.Pitiing victim, the real victims are the McConville family. Jean
:03:08. > :03:12.McConville who was abducted. Murdered, tortures, disappeared. The
:03:13. > :03:16.Republican involvement denied that I were involved for years. The my sang
:03:17. > :03:21.goes out the rule of law should apply equally. 42 years on, more
:03:22. > :03:25.waiting for Jean McConville's family. Waiting to find out for
:03:26. > :03:29.certain that Mr Adams won't be charged, waiting to see if they are
:03:30. > :03:36.able to take a civil case in the future.
:03:37. > :03:40.-- message. Politicians have been giving their reaction to Mr Adams
:03:41. > :03:46.release This is not a matter of politics, it a matter of justice.
:03:47. > :03:54.Justice for the family and the rest of Northern Ireland, we understand
:03:55. > :03:58.no-one should be above the law. Gerry Adams -- he is not above being
:03:59. > :04:02.questioned and neither is anyone else. I expect the police to
:04:03. > :04:07.question anybody who might have information or appeared to have
:04:08. > :04:14.information, on any of the events of the past that still are unsolved, I
:04:15. > :04:20.include in that I expect police to question members of the British Army
:04:21. > :04:24.and loyalist politicians, so I don't think is above the law. Everybody
:04:25. > :04:29.should be subject to the law. Sinn Fein have to restore public
:04:30. > :04:34.confidence that they fully support policing and justice. This deal was
:04:35. > :04:40.done between themselves and DUP in 2010, to devolving these power, we
:04:41. > :04:45.voted against, the last few days have vindicated our position. We are
:04:46. > :04:50.not mature, we are not ready to take full control of these issues, it is
:04:51. > :04:54.up to Sinn Fein to show we are wrong.
:04:55. > :04:57.A meeting between the Polish Consul and senior police officers is
:04:58. > :05:01.expected to be held tomorrow to discuss a recent spate of attacks in
:05:02. > :05:04.east Belfast, which the police have blamed on the UVF. In the latest
:05:05. > :05:07.incident, the homes of three Polish families in Roslyn Street were
:05:08. > :05:11.daubed with graffiti. The homes also had their windows smashed in a week
:05:12. > :05:16.ago. The police are treating the attacks on the properties as hate
:05:17. > :05:19.crimes. The Ulster Folk Museum has been

:06:14. > :06:16.appeals. For some runners just getting over the line was enough -
:06:17. > :06:27.others were intent on going that extra mile.
:06:28. > :06:35.There was 14 people on the team. It took just over five hours, the legs
:06:36. > :06:41.are heavy. This is the long longest time of my life. I am delighted to

:07:04. > :07:07.Well the weather was not kind. Hello, hope I know you had a nice
:07:08. > :07:15.bank holiday despite the weather trying to spoil it. It was soggy at
:07:16. > :07:20.times, but well done to all those who took part in the marathon. The
:07:21. > :07:24.weather front, the area of rain is shrinking, so it is showery at the
:07:25. > :07:28.moment and the cloud is not overcast, although there will be
:07:29. > :07:32.hints of brightness, the gusty wind will ease away, by the end of the

:07:50. > :07:53.with winds light to begin with. It will get breezier and there will be
:07:54. > :07:57.heavier showers round during the day. There is a fair bit of dry
:07:58. > :08:00.weather to come tomorrow. In the sunshine temperatures will reach the
:08:01. > :08:04.high teens but we are looking at this area of heavy showers and
:08:05. > :08:08.thunderstorms, that moves on to the west coast of Ireland tomorrow
:08:09. > :08:11.afternoon and will come eastwards towards us late in the day and
