:00:00. > :00:00.back with the late news. Now on BBC One it's time for the news where you

:00:00. > :00:00.are. One it's time for the news where you

:00:00. > :00:09.Now on BBC One, it's time Good evening. There's been an arson

:00:10. > :00:12.attack on a church in County Antrim. Intruders broke into Whiteabbey

:00:13. > :00:21.Methodist Church and managed to start a fire around eleven o'clock

:00:22. > :00:25.last night. Claire Savage reports. According to members of the

:00:26. > :00:29.congregation, arsonist smashed glass in the front door of the church and

:00:30. > :00:34.climbed through. They made their way into a new part of the building and

:00:35. > :00:38.tried to start three fires. The kitchen in the extension was gutted,

:00:39. > :00:45.but Fire crews were able to stop the blaze from spreading. The front door

:00:46. > :00:53.was smashed. I would say it is young people. They were out for a night

:00:54. > :00:57.trying to cause some excitement. The whole church could have caught

:00:58. > :01:03.fire. It is old. There are wooden pews. If it had not been caught, it

:01:04. > :01:08.could have burned to the ground. A special service for children could

:01:09. > :01:12.not take place because of the fire and instead, the Presbyterian Church

:01:13. > :01:16.allowed the congregation to use their calls. Police say the exact

:01:17. > :01:20.cause of the fire has still to be established and want anyone who may

:01:21. > :01:25.have witnessed something to contact them. Two motorbike racers remain

:01:26. > :01:28.critically ill in hospital after crashing during the North West 200.

:01:29. > :01:32.English rider Simon Andrews, who is 29, came off close to the Metropole

:01:33. > :01:35.section of the circuit yesterday. He's being treated at the Royal

:01:36. > :01:42.Victoria Hospital in Belfast, along with French rider Franck Petricola,

:01:43. > :01:46.who was hurt in a crash on Tuesday. The Church of Ireland Bishop of Cork

:01:47. > :01:49.has backed calls for civil marriage for same-sex couples. Dr Paul

:01:50. > :01:51.Colton, also said he hoped the church would eventually recognise

:01:52. > :01:54.same-sex marriages in religious ceremonies. His intervention was

:01:55. > :01:56.welcomed by a church group which held a service this afternoon to

:01:57. > :02:10.mark 'International Day against Homophobia'. We agree with what he

:02:11. > :02:17.said and we are delighted to hear it said so publicly and openly. He has

:02:18. > :02:21.a track record of having being sympathetic to gays in the church

:02:22. > :02:27.and he has come out of very strongly in favour of the church having some

:02:28. > :02:32.input into gay partnerships and gay marriages, equal marriage who prefer

:02:33. > :02:35.to call it. Every year around 9,000 schoolchildren here take their

:02:36. > :02:39.Cycling Proficiency Tests. This year 15 per cent more pupils than usual

:02:40. > :02:46.have signed up - a legacy of the Giro perhaps? Catherine Morrison has

:02:47. > :02:52.been finding out. It was a thrilling spectacle, a blur of speed and

:02:53. > :02:58.colour. It is a long way from the pellet on to the playground. These

:02:59. > :03:02.pupils are among thousands taking their Cycling Proficiency Test,

:03:03. > :03:08.learning the skills they need to keep themselves safe. I can cycle on

:03:09. > :03:15.the roads safely and I can go out with my dad cycling. I feel more

:03:16. > :03:19.confident when I am out on the road. It is 40 years since the tests

:03:20. > :03:26.started, but those were different times, quieter roads and no helmets.

:03:27. > :03:31.Nowadays, it is not just the gear that has changed, the test has been

:03:32. > :03:36.updated. This scheme it teaches children how to react to situations.

:03:37. > :03:41.Statistics show that less than one third of primary school pupils take

:03:42. > :03:46.the test. We promote the scheme across Northern Ireland to all

:03:47. > :03:50.primary schools. It tends to be the majority of schools that do it.

:03:51. > :03:54.There are pockets where we would like to see it increased. With the

:03:55. > :03:59.increasing popularity of cycling and the recent success of the Giro

:04:00. > :04:05.D'Italia, the number of cyclists on our roads is only going to rise, so

:04:06. > :04:12.it is essential that these young cyclists get the training they need

:04:13. > :04:15.to be safe on our roads. The first game of this year's GAA Ulster

:04:16. > :04:19.Championship has gone to a replay. Tyrone had to rely on captain Sean

:04:20. > :04:22.Cavanagh to save them with a last gasp free. A strong second half

:04:23. > :04:26.performance from Down saw them overturn a seven point deficit with

:04:27. > :04:31.goals from Donal O'Hare and Conor McGinn to go into the closing

:04:32. > :04:34.minutes two points ahead. Tyrone dominated the game for a

:04:35. > :04:38.considerable period, but had to call on Sean Cavanagh to save it with two

:04:39. > :04:46.frees, the second coming at the end of added time. Staying with sport

:04:47. > :04:50.and in rugby there was disappointment for Ulster last night

:04:51. > :04:52.as they lost their Rabo Direct Pro12 semifinal against Leinster in

:04:53. > :04:56.Dublin. Ulster started well and led by nine points to nil thanks to

:04:57. > :04:59.three penalties from Paddy Jackson. But Leinster stormed back and sealed

:05:00. > :05:08.their victory with this try from Ian Madigan with eight minutes left. Now

:05:09. > :05:13.a look ahead to a series of special reports on BBC Newsline this week.

:05:14. > :05:16.Have you ever considered what it would be like to be homeless? Our

:05:17. > :05:20.reporter Andy West has spent four nights living on the streets of

:05:21. > :05:23.Belfast to find out what life's like when you've hit rock bottom. What

:05:24. > :05:35.help is there and how do people react to you? The girl got very

:05:36. > :05:39.aggressive and was asking me whether I was a foreigner and then started

:05:40. > :05:44.trying to kick me in the face with her stiletto. You can see the first

:05:45. > :05:48.of Andy's reports on Tuesday here on BBC Newsline. And now here's Angie

:05:49. > :05:54.with a look ahead at the weather forecast.

:05:55. > :05:59.It has been pretty dismal, particularly in the EEC. Through the

:06:00. > :06:03.rest of the week it will hopefully not be as wet, but it is not

:06:04. > :06:08.straightforward. There will be showers, but also some dry and

:06:09. > :06:13.bright spells and a little bit of sunshine and it will feel warm. For

:06:14. > :06:17.this evening, rain in Easter and parts, it will ease for a time but

:06:18. > :06:22.will return as we head through the night and pushing its way back

:06:23. > :06:28.towards the west, but it is not cold. Into tomorrow, hopefully it

:06:29. > :06:31.will be slightly better, things gradually improving, but it looks

:06:32. > :06:35.like it will be a damp start, particularly in the West and once

:06:36. > :06:41.that moves away, through the morning there will be further rain. Similar

:06:42. > :06:47.across the Republic, cloud with showery bits of fraying, but for the

:06:48. > :06:59.rest of Britain, a fine day, dry with some sunshine -- rain. It will

:07:00. > :07:03.be warm. For Northern Ireland, in the afternoon, temperatures are

:07:04. > :07:09.little bit better, it gets a little bit drier, possibly a few bright

:07:10. > :07:14.intervals, especially in the East. A few showers as we head into the

:07:15. > :07:18.evening. On Tuesday, it may be the best day of the week, try bright and

:07:19. > :07:25.warm, but there will be dry and bright spells, through the rest of

:07:26. > :07:30.the week. Our next BBC Newsline bulletin is at 10:20pm this evening.

:07:31. > :07:31.Until then you can keep up to date with local news on BBC Radio
