:00:00. > :00:13.That is all from us this evening. There is a first look at the

:00:14. > :00:18.of 20 people in Belfast have been linked to a single new recreational

:00:19. > :00:23.drug. The family of one man who died last year have called for more to be

:00:24. > :00:32.done to prevent deaths. The coroner at the inquest compared the drugs to

:00:33. > :00:36.a serial killer on the loose. Pills like these brought death to the

:00:37. > :00:41.streets of Belfast and surrounding areas last year. Amongst those

:00:42. > :00:46.killed was James Owens, who was found unconscious outside the

:00:47. > :00:50.Shankill leisure centre. His was one in a chain of what was described as

:00:51. > :00:56.sinister drug-related deaths. The inquest taking place this week where

:00:57. > :01:00.James Owens, Alan McKenzie, found dead at home in June, Neill Reeves

:01:01. > :01:06.who died after taking drugs in July, Bryan Mills found unconscious

:01:07. > :01:09.at home in August and Kevin Doherty who died after a party in

:01:10. > :01:13.September. This morning, it emerged that the drug has been linked to 20

:01:14. > :01:20.deaths, leaving 20 families asking questions. We want to get the

:01:21. > :01:26.message out, to parents, keep an eye on their children and stop them from

:01:27. > :01:33.taking these drugs. It needs to stop now. Politicians need to stop them.

:01:34. > :01:37.The police know who is selling them. The senior coroner said it was

:01:38. > :01:43.comparing all to a serial killer on the loose and that it was a

:01:44. > :01:48.horrifyingly high number, justifying the most rigorous scrutiny. This

:01:49. > :01:52.drug has been found in a number of different Ecstasy tablets. Users

:01:53. > :01:59.should not think they are safe if they stay away from speckled drugs.

:02:00. > :02:05.It has been found across a number of tablets. With the number of deaths

:02:06. > :02:09.now linked to this drug standing at 20, one family said they want those

:02:10. > :02:17.who are selling this drug to be caught before someone else dies. An

:02:18. > :02:20.inquest into the death of a four-year-old autistic girl who died

:02:21. > :02:24.from swelling of the brain has been stopped after the coroner said he

:02:25. > :02:29.felt an offence may have been committed. Adjourning the inquest,

:02:30. > :02:35.he said he felt duty bound to write up his report and refer to the PPS

:02:36. > :02:39.light of evidence which came to light during proceedings. Lindsay

:02:40. > :02:45.Angela Alvarez, whose parents are from the Philippines, was four years

:02:46. > :02:50.old when she died. A dog that regard Doctor estimated she had ingested up

:02:51. > :02:56.to seven teaspoons of salt -- doctor. And normal intake of salt is

:02:57. > :03:01.two thirds of a teaspoon. As to explain this, he said it was forced

:03:02. > :03:07.upon her and added I cannot accept the possibility she took it

:03:08. > :03:13.voluntarily. She died in the Royal pictorial hospital in August 2009,

:03:14. > :03:18.just before her fifth birthday -- Royal Victoria Hospital. She was

:03:19. > :03:23.said to have fallen downstairs just before her death. A paediatrician

:03:24. > :03:27.gave evidence. He said that children who fall accidentally do not usually

:03:28. > :03:32.get serious injuries and he said that experience of autistic children

:03:33. > :03:36.is that they do not throw themselves down the stairs. He said he could

:03:37. > :03:45.not rule out that it was accidental nor rule out his concerns. A

:03:46. > :03:50.28-year-old man is critically ill after a stabbing in north Belfast.

:03:51. > :03:58.He was attacked at flats around 4pm today. 33-year-old man been

:03:59. > :04:02.arrested. Policing Board members have accused senior PSNI members of

:04:03. > :04:08.a cover-up over information about past crimes. It happened during the

:04:09. > :04:14.last meeting of the board to be attended by the outgoing Chief

:04:15. > :04:18.Constable Matt Baggott. Matt Baggott let his successor lead the way as he

:04:19. > :04:23.arrived for his last public meeting of the Policing Board. He outlined

:04:24. > :04:29.the challenges George Hamilton will face. The past was at the top of the

:04:30. > :04:34.list. Dealing with the past is debilitating and toxic to confidence

:04:35. > :04:41.in the police service. It was not long before the past cast a shadow.

:04:42. > :04:45.The focus was on a revelation that the Police Ombudsman plans to take

:04:46. > :04:48.the Chief Constable to court and he says his investigators have been

:04:49. > :04:52.denied axis to information they need to probe allegations of criminal

:04:53. > :04:59.behaviour and misconduct by police officers. The office does not do

:05:00. > :05:05.investigations by negotiation. This is fundamental to the independence

:05:06. > :05:11.of the office. There is no upturn to obstruct or cover up the work of the

:05:12. > :05:15.office. Wide you think that you can be trusted with this information and

:05:16. > :05:21.the Police Ombudsman cannot? If that becomes an issue as we go into the

:05:22. > :05:28.future, then it undermines the Police Ombudsman and the PSNI stop

:05:29. > :05:34.this issue has done damage to confidence in policing. It looks

:05:35. > :05:40.like cover-up. I want to put that on the record. I am quite angry. There

:05:41. > :05:46.was criticism -- criticism of the Police Ombudsman. The thing that

:05:47. > :05:50.strikes me as very strange is the fact that the Police Ombudsman

:05:51. > :05:54.decided to go public on this issue, which definitely has undermined the

:05:55. > :05:59.confidence of those families out there. The police say they hope the

:06:00. > :06:05.dispute can be resolved without going to court. Straight after this

:06:06. > :06:08.programme, programme-macro will hear from new law or loan on this

:06:09. > :06:14.controversy A police recruitment event is going

:06:15. > :06:17.ahead at the Everglades Hotel in Londonderry in spite

:06:18. > :06:19.of a dissident republican bomb Politicians say the vast majority

:06:20. > :06:23.of people in Derry want Here's our North-West

:06:24. > :06:29.reporter Keiron Tourish. will stop it is business as usual as

:06:30. > :06:31.the hotel repairs to host a police recruitment event. It follows a

:06:32. > :06:35.firebomb attack one week ago which caused damage. A masked man left the

:06:36. > :06:41.device at reception and it exploded less than three hours later as Army

:06:42. > :06:47.bomb officers were dealing with it. Police say it is important to stage

:06:48. > :06:52.the event as planned. We are now offering out 378 opportunities for

:06:53. > :06:58.people to join us and offering opportunities for up people to

:06:59. > :07:05.become part of our future. There is a united voice in the city of

:07:06. > :07:10.Londonderry saying, when you attack any business, any person in the

:07:11. > :07:18.city, you attack us all. The people of this city and elsewhere, in the

:07:19. > :07:23.long run, will be victims of this. We need to continue the peace

:07:24. > :07:27.process. Police he had considered calling off the event, but after

:07:28. > :07:31.discussions with hotel management they decided to go ahead.

:07:32. > :07:35.Donna Traynor talks to the war ,John Leishman.

:07:36. > :07:39.At the age of 94 he is in Normandy to attend the 70th anniversary

:07:40. > :07:41.The Scotsman, who now lives in Dundonald,

:07:42. > :07:44.was an infantryman serving with the Highland Division on D-Day.

:07:45. > :07:46.He recalls how scared and apprehensive he was

:07:47. > :08:07.I had no idea until a few days before, we did not know what was

:08:08. > :08:15.going to happen. I was shaking like a leaf. I was trembling very much

:08:16. > :08:23.and I was hoping that I would not get caught. Like some of the rest of

:08:24. > :08:29.the boys. Now it is time for the weather.

:08:30. > :08:37.The skies will continue to clear tonight and temperatures will drop

:08:38. > :08:41.away. It could get as low as 5 degrees in some rural areas.

:08:42. > :08:45.Tomorrow starts quite brightly, a decent beginning to the day, but

:08:46. > :08:49.after that there is rain in the forecast. This is the picture for

:08:50. > :08:53.tomorrow, brighter spells in the early part of the day before the

:08:54. > :08:58.rain starts to creep in from the south. This is the culprit, the low

:08:59. > :09:05.pressure which is working its way towards Ireland and it means we have

:09:06. > :09:11.a day of two horse. For England Wales and southern Scotland, dry and

:09:12. > :09:15.warm day stop a different picture in Northern Ireland. Plenty of rain,

:09:16. > :09:20.the showers working their way towards us through the late

:09:21. > :09:24.afternoon. The first band of rain will move away, but as we go over

:09:25. > :09:30.night into Saturday morning, more heavy rain is on the way and that is

:09:31. > :09:34.why we have a yellow warning in place in County Armagh and County

:09:35. > :09:40.Down, because on Saturday we have a lot of rain. Some of these downpours

:09:41. > :09:44.could be torrential. Others will miss out entirely, but it could be

:09:45. > :09:48.heavy if you catch one of those showers. Warmer than it has been,

:09:49. > :09:51.but looking towards the weekend, there is unsettled weather heading

:09:52. > :09:56.in our direction. You can keep up to date with
