:01:10. > :01:13.at least one IRA informer was involved. Yesterday he attended a
:01:14. > :01:18.public policing board hearing to hear the reasons the -- the PSNI
:01:19. > :01:22.gave for not giving information you requested about 60 murders,
:01:23. > :01:27.including his father's. The shop where the killing took
:01:28. > :01:35.place is no longer there. He Gavin was far from satisfied
:01:36. > :01:43.about what he heard. We heard from the chief constable
:01:44. > :01:48.that dealing with this was debilitating. That is my experience.
:01:49. > :01:55.The investigation and prosecution of those responsible, the only reason I
:01:56. > :01:58.believe is to protect informers. The police insist any reluctance to hand

:02:04. > :02:07.sensitivity of the material or any desire to protect informants.
:02:08. > :02:12.They say it is based on legal advice and they could actually be breaking
:02:13. > :02:14.the law by making the information available.
:02:15. > :02:18.The admin has been rejected by Michael Maguire and one of his
:02:19. > :02:22.police predecessors in the role of ombudsman.
:02:23. > :02:25.The law is absolutely clear, there is no room for any negotiation, the
:02:26. > :02:31.law says the chief constable shall provide the police ombudsman for --
:02:32. > :02:33.with such information as it requires.
:02:34. > :02:35.For some reason can in the past month the police have stopped
:02:36. > :02:40.providing information. They have a duty to do so, it is very simple.

:02:45. > :02:47.ombudsman that will avoid a need for the issue to be settled in court.
