:00:10. > :00:12.The mother of a teenager who was shot five times in the legs

:00:13. > :00:14.has described his attackers as disgusting.

:00:15. > :00:17.18-year-old Gareth Fisher was targeted at his home in Londonderry

:00:18. > :00:26.The family have been speaking to our North West reporter, Keiron Tourish.

:00:27. > :00:33.18-year-old Gareth Bishop was shot three times in one leg and twice in

:00:34. > :00:39.the other, just after 11pm last night. Two masked men arrived at his

:00:40. > :00:44.home and made their way into a shed where the teenager was watching a

:00:45. > :00:48.video with a friend. The gunmen shot through a plaster cast which Gareth

:00:49. > :00:59.Fisher had on one leg after a recent motorcycle accident. They do as they

:01:00. > :01:07.want or nothing at all. Do as they want. Shocking. Disgusting. That is

:01:08. > :01:15.all they are. I can't even find a word to describe them. Why do you

:01:16. > :01:21.think they did this? I don't have a clue. I really don't have a clue. It

:01:22. > :01:29.is shocking. The people who do that. It is shooting children. Children

:01:30. > :01:32.shooting children. The 18-year-old underwent surgery for several hours

:01:33. > :01:41.as he is anxious relatives awaited news. We want peace. We will fight

:01:42. > :01:51.for peace. We want this to stop. We will stop it. It is heartbreaking to

:01:52. > :01:57.watch that family falling apart. That is his mother and that is her

:01:58. > :02:03.baby and nobody in the world has a right to hurt him. One former mayors

:02:04. > :02:11.said the attack was horrendous. It is brutal in its nature. Shot in

:02:12. > :02:15.both legs. It is barbaric. The police have issued an appeal for

:02:16. > :02:18.witnesses. They say they are still trying to establish a motive and are

:02:19. > :02:21.following a number of lines of inquiry. They say there can be no

:02:22. > :02:28.justification for the shooting. A man is critically ill

:02:29. > :02:31.in hospital after being rescued He was found floating

:02:32. > :02:34.in the river at Meadow Lane The police say if it wasn't for the

:02:35. > :02:39.people who rescued him he'd be dead. A report that he may have been

:02:40. > :02:41.assaulted in the area around eight o'clock

:02:42. > :02:43.is being investigated. A 23-year-old

:02:44. > :02:47.man has been arrested. The SDLP leader, Alasdair McDonnell,

:02:48. > :02:49.has called on the police to extend their policy on the erection

:02:50. > :02:55.of flags in south Belfast to Yesterday, the police said they'd

:02:56. > :03:00.treat Loyalist flags in a mixed area of the Ormeau Road in south Belfast

:03:01. > :03:17.as a breach of the peace. The police have made it clear, any

:03:18. > :03:21.more flags put up in this mixed part of South Belfast will be treated as

:03:22. > :03:24.a breach of the piece, but the SDLP says that what the police do on the

:03:25. > :03:29.Ormeau Road they should also do elsewhere. The point is that the

:03:30. > :03:36.action should not be confined just to one area. It has to be extended

:03:37. > :03:41.to include other contentious areas of South Belfast, but not just South

:03:42. > :03:46.Belfast. It has to extend right across the country. People should

:03:47. > :03:50.not be allowed to use the flag when the British national flag or

:03:51. > :03:55.otherwise as a tribal element and an element of provocation. The police

:03:56. > :03:58.move in South Belfast led to a number of questions. Was it a

:03:59. > :04:03.wholesale change in policy, and what exactly would it mean on the ground?

:04:04. > :04:09.The Progressive Unionist Party wants answers. I want to see how they are

:04:10. > :04:14.going to do it fairly and how they will place it. Do we need a lease

:04:15. > :04:16.officer at every lamp, every time we the people will put flags, or how do

:04:17. > :04:41.do this? -- a police officer. The sequence of events this week has

:04:42. > :04:46.led to a lot of confusion around what is already a complex issue.

:04:47. > :04:51.Disagreement over flags is nothing new, but there is already one thing

:04:52. > :04:53.which all sides agree on. The police cannot solve the problem on their

:04:54. > :04:56.own. A court's been told that staff from

:04:57. > :04:59.the Police Ombudsman's Office have been turned away from PSNI buildings

:05:00. > :05:02.as part of the alleged obstruction The claim was made at the High Court

:05:03. > :05:06.as the Ombudsman, Michael Maguire, began his attempt to force

:05:07. > :05:09.the Chief Constable to hand over sensitive information relating to

:05:10. > :05:13.60 murder cases. The judge gave the go-ahead

:05:14. > :05:16.for the Ombudsman's case to continue, but said he hoped both

:05:17. > :05:27.sides could resolve the situation. More than 90 people in Northern

:05:28. > :05:29.Ireland have been recognised in Retired deputy chief constable

:05:30. > :05:33.Judith Gillespie is to receive a CBE,

:05:34. > :05:35.while the TV chef Jenny Bristow Also on the list are

:05:36. > :05:38.the visually impaired winter paralympian gold medallist Kelly

:05:39. > :05:40.Gallagher, and her guide, Charlotte Evans, who both receive

:05:41. > :05:53.MBEs. It was very similar to when we were

:05:54. > :05:57.told we were Paralympic champions. Absolutely surreal. It is the most

:05:58. > :06:03.beautiful honour that could be bestowed on Charlotte and I and it

:06:04. > :06:09.is really special. Over the years, it just opted out as showing how to

:06:10. > :06:14.cook good food. Now it is addressing so many issues, looking at obesity,

:06:15. > :06:16.looking at the fabulous food we have here. To have that endorsement is

:06:17. > :06:19.really special. It's the second round of golf's

:06:20. > :06:20.US Open. With all the latest,

:06:21. > :06:33.we can join Stephen Watson live Graeme McDowell and will remark or I

:06:34. > :06:37.have been playing together in this second round. Still four holds to

:06:38. > :06:43.complete, but Rory McIlroy going very well, two under for the day.

:06:44. > :06:48.But Graeme McDowell is four over and in 20 Eight Place, but both are far

:06:49. > :06:54.behind the leader from Germany. Northern Ireland's US Open champions

:06:55. > :07:01.of 2010 and 2012 practice I buy is I, both hoping for a productive day

:07:02. > :07:07.at Pinehurst. And both trying to chase the runaway leader Martin

:07:08. > :07:09.Kynoch, who was eight shots ahead at the end of the second round. --

:07:10. > :07:17.Martin Kaymer. I do not think he the end of the second round. --

:07:18. > :07:22.missed any of those yesterday. But he could not repeat yesterday's

:07:23. > :07:23.performance and his challenge started to unravel. So close

:07:24. > :07:30.performance and his challenge so far at his ninth hole. Usually

:07:31. > :07:33.unerringly accurate on the greens, Graeme McDowell momentarily lost his

:07:34. > :07:41.touch. His nightmare is getting worse. Rory McIlroy was doing his

:07:42. > :07:45.best to stay in contention. He dropped a shot early on but this

:07:46. > :07:52.approach at the 14th hole produced a birdie. As the 25-year-old from

:07:53. > :07:58.Hollywood continued to stay patient and slowly crept up the second round

:07:59. > :08:03.leaderboard. Still a very long way to go but the tournament is over for

:08:04. > :08:07.Shane Lowry and Darren Clarke, who looked like they will miss the

:08:08. > :08:11.halfway cut off. There was also a surprise

:08:12. > :08:15.announcement today for the Belfast Giants,

:08:16. > :08:17.with the news that general manager Todd Kelman is leaving.

:08:18. > :08:21.He has been with the team since its creation but is now part of a

:08:22. > :08:29.consortium taking over another Elite League side, the Cardiff Devils.

:08:30. > :08:42.Temperatures down to 11 or 12 degrees. Maybe just a bit

:08:43. > :08:47.uncomfortable for trying to get to sleep. But as we go through into

:08:48. > :08:50.tomorrow, high pressure is in charge and it will be a cloudy and mild day

:08:51. > :08:55.though staying pretty dry just about everywhere. This is the picture you

:08:56. > :09:00.will be waking up to. The odd shower but very few and far between and

:09:01. > :09:03.light in terms of the showers we are going to see as we go through the

:09:04. > :09:07.day on Saturday. That is because we have this the ridge of high pressure

:09:08. > :09:12.becoming firmly established to the rest of Ireland -- the West of

:09:13. > :09:17.Ireland. That gives us protection into next week. Very good conditions

:09:18. > :09:23.indeed across the UK and Ireland. Very little in the way of rain. Just

:09:24. > :09:25.the remains of a weather front delivering a few showers across

:09:26. > :09:30.western parts of England and Wales. Very few showers for Ireland, both

:09:31. > :09:36.the Republic and Northern Ireland. Through the day, plenty of hype

:09:37. > :09:39.cloud around so not much sunshine but the temperature is quite

:09:40. > :09:45.reasonable. If anything, Sunday will be a better day. A few more breaks

:09:46. > :09:49.in the cloud. A bit more sunshine, and certainly the temperatures are

:09:50. > :09:53.on their way up. What we have in the next few days is a very settled look

:09:54. > :09:56.to our weather, with very decent temperatures to enjoy.
